Title: Featherweight Destruction
Post by: Ben Purse on November 20, 2010, 06:35:41 PM
Ok now that i got Gamecam i can finally record matches. I will need help with AIing though. Its just the bindings i need help with?
Rules
-DSL 2.1 FeatherWeights- 175.0-200.0
-Your robot must be able to show controlled Movement
.AI parts allowed but thats it.
-All building must be done in the Bot Lab.
-Realistic rule
-Flags to represent your country can be used but thats it for customparts!
-If your robot havoks there were be a restart. If it havoks again their will be another restart, if it havoks a 3rd time thats it
-Matches will be 2 minutes in a best of 3 rounds style.
-24 places, and there will be a loser's bracket. . Winners & Loser's bracket champions will fight each other in the grand final, Winner`s and loser's bracket runner-up will receive 3rd place.

Oh, I can already hear the planes coming to shoot this one down. If you can't AI, don't try and run a tournament. Run while you have the chance.

I agree with Hydro...

Yeah, if you can't AI, don't try and start a tournament. That's more or less why I held off running a tourney. Don't run before you can walk.

And AIing is probably the biggest task of the tournament. The rest is pretty much plain sailing. There are rules out there saying you HAVE to be able to AI to run a tourney for a reason...

I'm saying this so you don't get burned by the other guys. Just stop making tourneys until you can run one.

Incomplete rules. There are so many possible loopholes to be exploited right now... muhahahahah !

And featherweights ? BAH

Edit: IF YOU CANNOT AI, DO NOT HOST A TOURNAMENT. kthx.

BP, your last one was shot down becaause you can't AI. This one will go the same way. AI'ing isn't hard. I learnt most of what I know on my first day of RA2. thanks again S_M.

Even if you know how to AI, you can't just join these forums and try & start a tourney straight away!

He was here for a while.

Anyways, capacity to hold tournaments is in no way related to post count. It is related to knowledge of RA2 and willingness to hold a tourney.

Right now I call failure on this.

Hes been here for 15 days
Tournament effeciency might not have much to do with post count, but he hasn't much knowledge of RA2 either

Well still, if he learns how to AI quickly and tightens up the rules a bit I don't see the problem.
Although I don't think a featherweight tourney is going to be well received no matter who hosted it, atleast it's different though.

Rather than asking for 24 robots to be AIed for something you'll take the credit for, why don't you learn to AI? There's a lovely chart somewhere explaining most things, that's how I learnt.
