Title: ELBITE Super Tournament - Ideas and discussion
Post by: Gigafrost on September 30, 2008, 10:40:12 AM
ELBITE is Now Underway at Gametechmods!

Elite bots of the robotic League Battles In Tough matches Exhibition Is a Tournament like no other. This special tournament consists of 3 different types of matches which will decide if you will be the Elite!

To take a look at your entry, its stats, strengths and weaknesses, and more log on to:

www.elbite.gametechmods.com (http://www.elbite.gametechmods.com)

Info:
The way this works is that there are 3 Tournaments in one, and whoever wins their tournaments will be faced against each other in a final Death Match. All bots will be built based on the Realistic rule and apply to the rules of BBEANS series and cheatbot2 components are restricted. These Event Matches are special in that they will be different every time the Super Tournament comes around. So you will never know what to expect! Also, There will be some nice prizes for those who win 1st, 2nd, and third place. 1st place will however, win the grand prize, along with a special sticker that they will be able to put on their bot. On rare occasions, they will be able to use the grand prize in a special match called a Nostalgia Match. Nostalgia Matches are given at a random date and they give the new winner a chance to battle the previous one for an Elite Badge (details coming soon).

Right now there will be 32 bracket slots but it could be changed to 64 and so on if people are more interested in entering than i expect. The entrants will be shuffled through my top hat software only once for each of the three events. This gives you a better chance of winning a tournament in case you have some sort of disadvantage.

The following Events for this month is a Tabletop Match, a King of the Hill Match, and a 1 on 1 Death match. I explained the rules for each tournament below. In essence, you will build 1 bot of the required weight class, and alter its WEAPONRY to suit the following tournaments. BATTERIES, BASEPLATE ANCHORS, CONTROL BOARDS, AND ANY THING THAT ISN'T ON AN EXTENDER CANNOT BE MOVED IN ANY OF YOUR BOTS ONCE YOU PLACE THEM, SO BE CAREFUL! You will submit 3 bots total. But it is just the same bot with different weapon alterations. The chassis also cannot be changed BUT the type of armor it has can. Try to think of a chassis style and baseplate setup that works well with all three types of tourneys, since they cannot be changed.

Tourney Rules: Remember that they all apply to the rules said above as well. Todays weight class for all tournies is DSL MIDDLEWEIGHTS

The Deadline for the entries is the end of December! Plenty of time to think of what you are going to do.

Table top match rules
Weapons used: Non Damaging (It should have no possible way to hurt the opponent BUT you CAN flip the opponent, despite the fact that it may take damage when it hits the ground)
PY/AI Type: Custom or Standard (But it must stay on the ground at all times, and can ONLY apply to its own movement parameters. Damage, armor, etc. must NOT be affected)

Info: The tabletop match is setup in standard bracket form. It will be a 1 on 1 match and best 2 out of 3 match bouts. All entrants will be shuffled.

King of the Hill match rules
Weapons used: Damaging or Non Damaging (Destruction is Permitted!)
PY/AI Type: Custom or Standard (But it must stay on the ground at all times, and can ONLY apply to its own movement parameters. Damage, armor, etc. must NOT be affected)

Info: The King of the Hill match is setup in standard bracket form. It will be a best 2 out of 3 match bouts with 4 contenders. All entrants will be shuffled.

1 on 1 Death match rules
Weapons used: Damaging or Non Damaging (Destruction is Permitted!)
PY/AI Type: Custom or Standard (But it must stay on the ground at all times, and can ONLY apply to its own movement parameters. Damage, armor, etc. must NOT be affected)

Info: The 1 on 1 Death match is setup in standard bracket form. It will be a best 2 out of 3 match bouts with only 2 contenders. All entrants will be shuffled.

Final match rules:
Info: It is just like the 1 on 1 Death Match. Best 2 out of 3 wins. Note: For the final match, only the Bot used in the Death match will be used.

Ties:
If there is a tie, The contenders total match points will be added up. The bot with the most points would then break the tie and win the entire match.

Multibots:
Just like in BBEANS, you are allowed to submit multibots. However, they both are classified the same as the ones in BBEANS (accumulated weight of both bots must equal entry weight) and MUST have the same chassis. However, they CAN be different in terms of the way their baseplate setup is, but this MUST NOT be changed once their parts are put down. For example, you can create a spinner and a flipper (both use different "baseplate parts"), but the parts cannot be moved once they are on each of the chassis.

Summary
Today's Weight Class for all entries is: Middle Weights
Type of Building Rule Used: Realistic
The Winner will receive this Badge: The Grand Opening Sticker (pic coming soon): This Badge shows that you won the Grand Prize! This will be a decal that you could put on your bot, and will be recorded on my new ELBITE Super Tournament website.

May the best ELBITER win!

AI Rules: If you are not python savvy then simply send me your bot(s). I will do it for you.

ENTRIES ARE NOW CLOSED! Check out the ELBITE website for the match up video and upcoming splash! -ByeBots Will be configured to suit the empty slots. There are 4 ByeBots in Each Tourney.

BOT Summary

Friendly Reminder to people who haven't submitted their entries:
The Date has finally been changed to the end of December. Please be sure to signup if you haven't already!

Vacant Slots Left: 0: ByeBotswill possibly be competing for the vacant slots.

UPDATE: THE GRAND PRIZE HAS BEEN RELEASED!

It says DSL up there, it's in red.
And do we have to AI our own bots? (I'm not very good at that...)

Maybe, I know how to do smartzones & label the drive controls & stuff like that, but I'm not sure how to do AI file bindings (If that's what they're called).

You don't have to do the AI if you dont want to.

@ Wha- Ok, my next one will be DSL MW btw.

Changed the rules. I decided that it will stay as DSL. Since the last BBEANS tournament it only makes sense that everyone has DSL on their computers, and I don't want to make anyone struggle. This month is DSL, next month will be stock (for the sake of those who dont have it installed right now).

yeah put my name down please. but i'm not really sure of the rules they're a bit comlicated. so basically i just send 1 mw to you? because it says somewhere i am to send 3 different bots in....

Kinda. I will introduce the tournament from my RA2GE website but it might (with loads of help from ACAMS) link to a site on gametechmods.
Title: ELBITE Super Tournament - Ideas and discussion
Post by: Naryar on September 30, 2008, 12:34:49 PM
So basically we need to make a modular bot with interchangeable weapons... and send three versions of it to you (or two, because i suppose we can send you the same version for the KotH and the DeathMatch), and these will fight... so it is a 4 bot fight in the KotH?

But I have a problem: the three winners of each type of contest.  How will you make them fight and get a grand winner, because they're three and one of them has no damaging weapons, that is a weakness...

___________

I'm in. A Spear/Rammer hybrid will own here, i'm sure.
Title: ELBITE Super Tournament - Ideas and discussion
Post by: Gigafrost on September 30, 2008, 12:41:32 PM
Exactly and remember, The three bots you submit are all the same in terms of chassis design, baseplate anchor position, and power setup. They Just different weapons. The "death match version" will be used for the one who wins the tabletop. This means that you only change your damaging weapons for the KoTH.

KoTH is a 4 bot fight indeed...

Update: ACAMS told me to make a separate entry page once im finished laying down the rules and such on the website. I took off the list and it will be put up when I finish.

Um, yeah!
I can, i'll get to work on my robot right now.
BTW, do we need to make a robot for all 3 events, Table Top, KOTH and Death Match, or can we just make one for one event?

@ACAMS - Correct.

@Reier- Yep. But I wouldn't just think of creating only a pushing bot... Remember that you can still use motors -hint hint-

I JUST made a 3d logo for the ELBITE tournament... But I got a blue screen error for some reason. I can't express how upset I am right now.

No, ramplates do though.
Not forgeting, if you have a flipper, if you use the Flipper segment parts to make it, i discovered that they cause damage aswell.
Really it should be so that they cause a little bit of damage.

I agree, and BBEANS should be finished by December (or close)

I think people that host AI tournaments need to do one round a week---without fail. (after all they have the bots and nothing is stopping them)
If you have time to start a tournament you need to make sure you have time to finish it.

Giga i know what i'm going to use.

But still have several questions on teh modulable bot:

-Can we change the direction of skirt hinges and the things attached to them, whatever they are? (example, swapping a weapon rack with a plow)

-Can we change wheels on motors attached to the baseplate (i don't think so), or all the drive train if he's attached to extenders/hinges?

I'm thinking of a wedge with Techno Destructo/Magmotor drive, and one or two pistons.

It's just three in one.

You make three bots for each.
Title: ELBITE Super Tournament - Ideas and discussion
Post by: Gigafrost on October 02, 2008, 11:05:32 AM
Think of it like this.

You have a basic bot with connection points built in. No weapons.

You use that as a template for re-building your bot to suit the following tournaments. Kind of like the bot TORNADO did when he faced his opponents. It was the same bot but with changeable weapons.

@Nar- Skirts? Of course, they go into the same category as extenders. As for your motor question. Wheels can be changed. Motors cannot.

I also want to put my site up but im waiting for ACAMS to send me the ftp information again... I think I lost my address and passoword when I cleaned my inbox.

The control board thing: I might want it on one extender for the tabletop, but on another for the battle.

Sys32 you're just plain dumb.

CHEAT PARTS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN TOURNAMENTS.

And these wheels are cheatbot2, by the way.

The stock red extenders too on Facemelikeaman are cheat parts for the DSL mod.

But then it doesn't surprises me if you have all the DSL components on stock.

Get the full thing, you'll see that all these are hidden.

Guys, can you PLEASE stop the arguing. Sys32, It might be best if you do use the full Dsl program, it's easier to tell which components are cheat or not. (https://gametechmods.com/?do=DSL_Install_Tut_Download (https://gametechmods.com/?do=DSL_Install_Tut_Download)) Nar, I really don't think he knew that those were cheat parts.

I will start a showcase, with vids and everything, not just with my ELBITE robots, but with some bots in general.
Im working on it now!

@System32 and Somebody- Yeah that's fine. However, this would count as your "1 change left" like the other tournaments. Rules will be clarified on my site later on.

Speaking of the site... Its Up! Here is the website address (Credit to ACAMS for helping me out and  being so kind as to have enough patience as to fix my errors).

For the King of the hill match, will it be 'Hilltop' or 'LumaZone' arena ?

@Phil - Hey whats up? The arena will be a custom made Lumazone (Not a pure recoloring however, I will edit it's py. file)

@ACAMS- Forgot about that. Got it.

The background was changed from a whopping 151,202 bytes to 2,210 bytes. I don't know if this makes a difference but give it a try. I also kind of like this new background since it makes the words more visible.

AAARGH the LumaZone !1!1!one!

I'm gonna suck hard in the KotH then...

...Wait Giga, the KotH battles are just a duel, or a 4-bot-rumble?
Title: ELBITE Super Tournament - Ideas and discussion
Post by: Gigafrost on October 09, 2008, 11:42:12 AM
It will be a 4-bot royal rumble. To balance out the weak and strong bots. My advice would be to try to protect/weaponize all the sides of your bot, as it may sometimes try to enter the center backwards.
Title: ELBITE Super Tournament - Ideas and discussion
Post by: Naryar on October 09, 2008, 04:04:37 PM
And I suppose the tabletop is a 4-rumble too?

Awesome.I'll get RAPED in the KotH and possibly in the tabletop, because even if you enter a good tabletop bot the winner is nearly random.

(i'll still give it a try though)

Which strategy do you follow to build your bot ?

At first, i'v tried to build a good tabletop Bot, then, adapt and test it on the king of the hill.

It appears that there's a good part of luck in winning a table top. For now, i try first to build a good 'King of the hill bot' then i will see how to adapt if for tabletop.

There's also the technic to have a very powerfull and specialized bot for a kind of match and then try voodoo magic to influence the chance when it will be selected... not tested that yet.

Quote
the tabletop is a 1 on 1 match.
I've not noticed that ! it changes a lot !

To Gigafrost :
It appears that many people did not AIed their bots.

When the "same" bot have to play in king of the hill (where speed to be the first 'on' is important') and tabletop (where a too excessive speed will let you down),  it may be useful not to have the same AI.

Typically, in tabletop : Radius parameter must be high  and topspeed must be low, in king of the hill, speed must be high, and turn low.

Will you AIed separately the bots ?

I was thinking about that idealolog and will have to say Yes and No. The bots themselves are not a problem to AI, but like you said, an "adaptation .py package" would consist of 2 or three different .py files for one bot to be used in each corresponding tournament.

By all means I will indeed help those who can't AI or edit .py files for themselves, but I would not recommend this for anyone else who has some skill, and the custom .py that you make will kind of give you more or a feel as to how YOU want the bot to act in the arena.

Henceforth, I will only AI 10 bots (first come first serve to the vacant slots). This will include all of your variations for each tournament, however, you will not have a say as to what type of .py I would use; that would be my choice.

The rest of you MUST do your own .py files (or use the stock/DSL ones if you want). I know this is a little tougher on you guys but I think that this is the best way to avoid the "stupid AI" for well built bots.
As for creating them as AI bots. I will only implement the .py file you created into the init.py file and rename its type to what you put in. I am not allowed to alter your AI information in any other way. This means that you may also need to place your smartzones. But of course, you can always ask me for advice.

Editted first page.

Title: ELBITE Super Tournament - Ideas and discussion
Post by: Naryar on October 13, 2008, 05:58:51 AM
Actually i think it's unfair if you to AI only 10 bots, and everyone else has to do their bot's bindings. Because you'll certainly AI the 10 bots well, whereas we, all the others, can fail. That means the bots AIed by you will have an unfair advantage.

I would be for a tournament where everyone must AI their bot, if you can't/don't want to AI them all. It would be fun.

And of course if you AI your bot before, you can test it on AI vs AI. As the tournament. And THIS is an advantage too.

Ok. As to resolve this issue altogether. You guys deserve a chance to have a say in this as Nar explained.

And since I have more time than i thought... I will do everyones AI. Even though I thought it would be interesting to see what everyone comes up with, I forgot that not everyone is familiar with python. Apologies everyone. However, this means that I am not responsible for a bots failure in a match if its too complex. Just keep me in mind when you send it <3

So far Somebody and phil sent me their bots. I will also AI them so no worries there either.

I think that wraps up the rules for now

No, this is part of the fun. Ok to help those who really don't know,  but trying to AI our bot is a good way to learn about.

Why not opening a thread 'help me to AIed my bot' where people shows  picture of their bot  and other ones respond. If they do not want to show their real 'battle bot' they can make a similar one to show off.

New rule has been added: Multibots.

Just like in BBEANS, you are allowed to submit multibots. However, they both are classified the same as the ones in BBEANS and MUST have the same chassis. However, they CAN be different in terms of the way their baseplate setup is, but this MUST NOT be changed once their parts are put down. For example, you can create a spinner and a flipper (both use different "baseplate parts"), but the parts cannot be moved once they are on each of the chassis.
Title: ELBITE Super Tournament - Ideas and discussion
Post by: Naryar on October 20, 2008, 02:00:33 PM
Wait... I missed something.

Right, if we use a multibot, each of the bots can have different baseplate setups, and all the chassis will be the same for all of the bots (including the KotH MW), but what do you mean by

Giga i have two questions:

-Can you make an AIed bot to ignore all arena hazards and is it legal to enter it?

-If I want to use a multibot (let's say in only one of the tournaments, and two middles in the others), all the bots (four at max) must have the same chassis, the two MW bots must have the same baseplate setup, but the multibots baseplate setup can be anything else?
Title: ELBITE Super Tournament - Ideas and discussion
Post by: Gigafrost on October 28, 2008, 11:24:07 AM
1- Yes it's possible (mad correct me if I'm wrong). I will indeed count it as legal as well. As long as it abides with the other rules I previously posted.

2- I am going to have to say that that would be illegal. Remember that Multibots count only as one bot. Hence, they MUST be together in every tournament; otherwise it would be like entering half of a bot. Since the rules state that you can only enter one bot with 3 different alterations, those alterations only apply to the multibots. Any other bots that you wanted to enter in the other tournament would not qualify, as they would count as a completely different bot. This is despite the fact that they have the same chassis and setup.
Title: ELBITE Super Tournament - Ideas and discussion
Post by: WhamettNuht on October 28, 2008, 12:48:16 PM
I think that multibots shouldnt be alowd.
Lets face it, on tabletop its 1 pusher vs 2 pushers, so you could be pushing 1 of them, then the other comes along ans knocks you off, no fair!
If they're about the size of a lightweight, or 2 small bots that make the size of a middleweight, then that would be ok.
Title: ELBITE Super Tournament - Ideas and discussion
Post by: Naryar on October 28, 2008, 01:20:51 PM
Wham that's funny because the "no fair thing" is exactly what i plan to enter.

__________

Giga, that means you have to get EXACTLY the same chassis setup in all of your entered bots (the middleweight(s) and the multibots), amirite?

Also,if you use a multibot in a non-KotH, are you forced to use a multibot in the other non-KotH tournament?

No, only the KotH is going to be a four bot rumble. Tabletop is one on one.

Reier: it can be done by modding the clawtop's main .py file, by adding 'TEAM MATCH' to the types of game, and you can play a team match on a tabletop. My Claw Top is already a Team Match arena too.

Yes, there's coding in the arenas that enables the bots to avoid hazards and floor edges. It's only a deterrant not a preventitive. And yes one could mod/tailor it.

It seems that on tabletops, there is a certain randomness to who survives. This seems mainly do to the AI, especially visiible when you ram a robot off the edge, and the AI doesn't stop it as fast as it could. Thus, having two bots would make it more likely not to fall off.

As said before, a multibot is considered as only one bot.

Clarifying for everyone (and thanks for the help Mad): -sigh- As I said countless times, and this time I will put the text in red and bulleted for memorization:

If you are entering a multibot

-You can only submit your 1 multibot; the complete set of two identical LWs.

-You cannot submit any other bots than that complete set unless it's an alteration (weapons are only changed).

- NO extra MW will qualify if you already submitted a complete set. Even if it's identical. It makes things confusing.

@ Somebody & Reir - Why does the multibots rule seem unfair to either of you? You had no issues with a multibot entrant in BBEANS when my bot TOURQUE had to fight it.... My rule still stands, there will be multibots in the tournament. They both are practically LWs and remember, if one is thrown off, they both are out, despite the conditions.

It really isn't that complicated guys.

As for what a multibot can and cannot compete in is my issue. I am not using the stock TT, meaning that it will be configured to allow multibots to function properly (if there is any problems with such). True, the TT is a 1 on 1 match indeed. I will simply enter the extra bot to battle.

@ Somebody & Reir - Why does the multibots rule seem unfair to either of you?

I doesn't seem unfair, I just didn't understand it. I get it now.

Oh yes. Very sorry for that previous conclusion. My site holds the final rules: It's DSL.

BTW - I'm here for a little while (until thanksgiving anyway) and will accept any new entries. I also think Psy and some others said something about themselves entering as well? But I'm not certain... The other tournaments are coming to a close so let's all get hyped up for ELBITE! At least so I can get a good 32 full slots!

Update: Sometime tonight, I will also submit the Official ELBITE Tabletop Arena Video. Showing you what to expect (BIG kudos to mad btw). Keep an eye out for it!

Ok here is the [unless mad is gonna pm me back]Table Top Arena for ELBITE[unless mad is gonna pm me back] Just showing you how it works.

Video 1(Beta) Avoidance Test
AI Bots only with avoidance code implemented
https://gametechmods.com/?do=ra2ube&ACT=video&id=ELBITE_Super_Tournament-Tabletop_Arena

Video 2 (Beta) Claw Switching Test
Avoidance code and claw switching implemented
I'm going against Mrs. Plow. Activating hazards and messing around.
https://gametechmods.com/?do=ra2ube&ACT=video&id=ELBITEClawTest

Apparentlymy video recording skills needs some sharpening (help Click?)... I am using the registered version of Fraps but have no idea as to what would be the best frame rate to use, apart from using the forums uploader which made me lose some quality. Remember that this is only a BETA. I will show you guys the finished product once I get in touch with mad.

With mad's help, I am able to make the claws change direction if the flame hazards are activated. I basically upped the speed and power of the claws themselves to give you more of a challenge. I found out that when this is done, the claws actually do a bit of damage as well, which was very pleasing.

Entries are coming along quite nicely! Added 70hemicuda and Scrap to the list, along with myself for the 16th slot...

Title: ELBITE Super Tournament - Ideas and discussion

When the arms spin backwards, they can pin smaller bots to the ground. I was using a HW so I got out easily.

I also created a list, on the first page, pertaining to those whom I haven't received entries from so far. I also want to HIGHLY stress that the "1 change left" is only good for this month. Once December hits, all changes will be set to 0, regardless of whether your entry is final or not.

Title: ELBITE Super Tournament - Ideas and discussion
Post by: Clickbeetle on November 22, 2008, 09:57:51 PM
I hope you're running the event with hazards off, because you can't see where the spikes are with that skin.  Some sort of box would also help to distinguish the points zone from everything else.  Other than that looks good.

Lightning that throws bots off would be cool and easy to do, but 1) it discourages you from getting points, which seems counterproductive, and 2) it's unnecessary, because if a bot stays too long in the points zone alone, it will activate the immobility counter and drive out on its own.

What would be better is some way to help the bots not in the zone get back in it, though that would be harder to do.
Title: ELBITE Super Tournament - Ideas and discussion
Post by: Gigafrost on November 23, 2008, 10:00:32 AM
I agree. Like I said in the vid, I would need some MAJOR help in scripting it all.

Also, I will try to mark out the little "danger and point zones". I figured leaving them out since it will be all AI, but I will instead add them in once my arenas are available for download and finalized.

I really would like there to be little smarzones on this arena that are on the outside of the point zone. When a bot run over them, it gives them a jolt of electricity. Of course the damage will be very low, but I want it to have a high Force, sending the bots flying decently around the arena for example.

Ok, send me your finalized bots ASAP. Remember Nar, it has to be the same bot, but with different parts to suit each tournament. The bot name must also be the same.

As you all know, November is going to end in less than a week! Be sure to bring in your entries! December 5th is the last day that I will accept any bots. On the 6th, I will display the drawing of your bots to see who it will be up against in each of the three tournaments.

I am getting a feeling that I am not getting any more entries so I might just have to make it a 16 slot tourney. Unless Other people enter.

As Madiaba would say "hehehe."

Edit/announcement:
Aside from that, I have recently checked my uploader for the ELBITE website and have noticed that there are some people who have sent me their bots. Remember to please PUT YOUR NAME on your file before you send! I totally have know idea who has sent me bots through the uploader, and there are 10 of them.

Here are the bot file names I found, If any of these files are yours let me know please (Spelling is exactly how the filename is spelled):

1-TheBest SaberBot Ever!.zip
2-the maler.rar
3-Super Fast Rammer.zip
4-Super Destructor.zip
5-S.U.C.H.B.U.D.zip
6-disroyerdistruced.rar
7-Bot2.zip
8-6131Bot2.zip
9-1603disroyerdistruced.zip
10-1521 Bot2.zip

Again, let me know if any of these are yours so I can mark them in my "splash alternative". But in the future, please try to send me labeled entries. I have not looked into these files for the safety of my own computer.

The tournament will start on around December 25th (Xmas time) if things go well. Bot showcases will be released once I get all the bots.

I also have to check my SmartFTP account to see how many people have submitted their bots through the uploader as well.

I have also finished the final version of the KOTH... I decided to just leave the hazards as is, as I am running out of time and still need to finish the prizes, the showcase, and the deathmatch arena... Once my little brother is finished playing spore on my RA2 computer.

My tabletop and KotH ones are average (to my standards), but the DM one kicks ass, nearly as good as HazCon (even if HazCon gets most of the time his metallic ass kicked when they fight)

In my vision of a perfect world, the deathmatch finale would be R0B0SH4RK VS Naryar again.

UPDATE: Apparently my little brother released from my laptop at around 10:00 or so and I went off track and updated my ATI card drivers until 1:00 AM (was REALLY hard for me to do at first on vista). Sooner or later I am going to get to that prize building.

My bots are sent via PM.

It didn't turn out as well as I would have liked, but I don't have the time now to make a new bot.  I think I can safely say that I won't be winning many battles in KOTH or deathmatch.  I'm pretty pleased with the tabletop version, though... if I win, it will be in tabletop.

I have a chance in KOTH too as long as I don't face any flippers or VS's, but I'm not counting on that.  Deathmatch is where I'm most worried.

Great! I am glad you guys like it, as it was pretty difficult to create using a decompiler. Anyway, this blade is designed to be used as either a slicing, smashing, slapping, stabbing, crushing, or even flipping weapon (if you get creative), It has sligthly more piercing than the razor spike (2.9 I believe) and 18000 hit points...

Update: ByBots have been released to take over Vacant Slots!

What is a ByeBot?
A ByeBot is a extremly weak, 4WD,  huge chassis, bot with 1mm plastic armor, and no weaponry. If you are lucky enough to get matched up with a ByeBot, then chances are, you might have the upper edge to move up the tournament! ByeBots all have the same chassis but are identified by Type (which is just a letter printed on the bot). and replace the boring old Bye messages that simply let you pass . Now with ByeBots, you may also get some extra points along the way.

ByeBot Against ByeBot?
If two ByeBots go head to head, then their entry will be reshuffled until they are matched up with a real opponent.

Losing to a ByeBot
If you lose to a ByeBot, then you're match will be restarted until you defeat it. You only have three tries until the ByeBot becomes the winner... But this is VERY rare.

Speed points
Beat a ByeBot in less than 10 seconds? Then you would get a Point Bonus added to your score!
The Point Bonus would be equal to 10 minus the amount of time it takes to defeat the ByeBot >0.

So you WOULD get points if you beat one in nine seconds (10sec/pts-9sec=1 point)

But NOT if you defeat it in ten seconds or more (10sec/pts-10sec=0) (10sec/pts-11pts= -1 = 0) and so on...

As I said before, this entire system is to help you win those points.

Could we have more precision on tabletop fights, and also if you are going to give a free restart for these because of an AI driving fail? (you know, sometimes the bots go OOTA for no valuable reason)

Oh, and give that day to R0B0, for the only reason that i will have a chance to kick his ass again.

The only thing I'll be failing at is failing to lose to you again.

In other words: Don't expect a repeat of BBEANS 4.

OK guys knock it off. You're squabbling like Ash Ketchum and Gary. However, I do admire that you guys are willing to be competitive.

Anyway R0B0 I will extend the date just for you. The deadline has been moved to Sunday at 11:59, like 2 more days.

@ Nar- About your question for the ByeBots. They will have the Rammer AI script, so they will always be bumping into your bot, I made these guys because of the butt load of extra vacancies and I don't know if ACAMS and the rest will be sending in their bots in time, so I'm am being prepared for the better. Also remember that I am using an UPDATED Tabletop script that highents the avoidence of OOTA run ons...

@Pys - If you want, I get get you in a spot too. Let me know.

UPDATE: Since the extension has been moved to sunday, the FINAL prizes will be released at that time as well.

Will people who don't submit their bots be replaced by byebots?
Title: ELBITE Super Tournament - Ideas and discussion
Post by: Naryar on December 07, 2008, 11:31:03 AM
Giga, you could just make things easier for you and do a 16-bot tournament because we're actually just 11 readied entrants (normally) and i don't picture that many competitors entering their bots at the last minute... Inf and R0B0 maybe, but we won't be more than 16 IMO.

I'm not really counting on my TT/KotH bots, mainly on my DM one, because I bet there will be more and better wedges than in BBEANS4.

EDIT: SB i think so. It's logical.

I'm impressed with the blade.  That's a complicated shape to do without Max.  Did you make it from scratch, or edit an existing gmf?  Either way, it couldn't have been easy.

I editted an existing .gmf file of the Samurai Sword. However, if you compare both of them, you will notice that the blade is longer, wider, and the base is a completely different shape. I done this by simply figuring out which numbers of the gmf control what; in terms of Verticies, and did each "xyz point" individually. Took a while even with Serges wonderful gmf viewer, but it was well worth it.

Speaking of which... Once I get finished with my finals (perhaps tuesday or wednesday... thursday?) I will show you the finished ELBITE Prizes video! Showing all the prizes and the finalized version of the HOLY BLADE.

To be honest, it is the best and most advanced component I ever created (Thanks to mad's help with the mapping and collision).

Looks awesome! Will you be publicly releasing this and just letting the winner use it in the next ELBITE or will only the winner get the actual component?
Title: ELBITE Super Tournament - Ideas and discussion
Post by: Gigafrost on December 19, 2008, 11:26:46 AM
@Nar- I got the idea from madiaba. Keep in mind that this is pure metal, so I exaggerated it to have a  blue luster, as a greenish one will look too plain.

@Somebody - It can work either way, and the jagged side is a tad more effective, but in this vid, i was rushing. The blades "front" is really the smooth side though.

@Manmanu - This weapon will be in the release of RA2GE: LU, but other than that, only the winner and myself will have the weapon at their disposal. That winner will then be able to use it in the next ELBITE (much like Clickbeetle's BBEANS).
Title: ELBITE Super Tournament - Ideas and discussion
Post by: Clickbeetle on December 21, 2008, 06:46:35 PM
1.6 piercing and 1.6 concussion = about 454 DP.  Times 10000 HP, divided by 25 kgs equals... 181,696 efficiency.  So the Holy Jagged Blade is more than three times as good as regular DSL weapons (which are balanced at 60,000 efficiency).

I guess that's one way to give people incentive to use it.  I think you could still do with slightly less damage though.

Nice looking weapon in any case.

Title: ELBITE Super Tournament - Ideas and discussion
Post by: Gigafrost on December 22, 2008, 12:35:58 AM
@ Click - Thanks! Yeah, I admit that I got a little too happy with it's HP. I hoped to balance it out by making it a bit heavy for it's size. It takes a bit to do controlboard damage (As you can see), But it lasts a good while.

@Somebody - Once I get everyones bots, or a decent amount for that matter. I will showcase it.

I'm starting on each bot individually however.

I'm guessing a splash that either has a video for each bot (maybe 3 splashes, 1 for each class), or a download for each bot.

Gig, I just realized the version of my entry had an AGODed wedge, can I do a resend? I know registration's closed and all, but My entry won't work minus a wedge!

If so, I'll send in exactly the same bot, but without the wedges AGODed.
