THE ELBITE SUPER TOURNAMENT ARENA By Clickbeetle






The     tesla coil rises from the floor after 50 seconds.  It takes 7 seconds     to charge up, at which point it shocks any bot that drives on that   metal   plate in the middle, dealing 20 damage to all of the bot's   components   (so the more components you have, the more total damage you   take).  It   also continues to charge up another power level every 2   seconds after   that.  There are 5 power levels, and each one adds 20   damage, so if you   get hit by the fully charged tesla coil, it will be   dealing 100 damage   to all your components.  That doesn't sound like   much, but if you have   weak extenders anywhere, or weak chassis armor,   it can hurt a lot.  The   electric shocks also fling bots away towards   the edge of the arena (but   not enough to throw them OOTA, don't   worry).


There's just one   problem.  Bots with hinged wedges   putting pressure on the floor   interfere with all plus.force()   applications, which includes the tesla   coil rising from the floor and   the coil flinging bots.  For some reason   plus.force() doesn't do   anything unless the wedges get lifted off the   ground a bit, either   from driving or flipping.  However, this problem   appears to be   unavoidable as it also happens in the Combat Arena.    You'll just have   to deal with it--in any case, the tesla coil can   usually still rise up   as long as the bots keep moving.

  PRELIM 1 - Match Summary
   

I honestly did not expect it, but this one turned out to be a   yawner. Both  bots being Sit And Spinners, you can expect that the   entire match was just the  two bots, sitting and spinning. Out of all   three of them though, the first  round was the most interesting. In   Round 1 Berserk, in an attempt to prevent  from being counted out,   charges into Invisible Pink Unicorn. The better built  bot of the two,   IPU manages to score more points than its adversary, and more  than the   other two matches (none). However, IPU in all of its matches breaks  off   its weapons against the walls of the arena. Possibly the most   anticipating  moment besides wondering if they will ever come into   contact with one another.  Rounds 2 and 3 are similar, except that no   points were scored. The Winner:

Berserk  and IPU both tying in   Rounds 2 and 3, Invisible Pink Unicorn breaks the tie and  wins by TKO.   Earning more total points than Beserk Killer in Round 1.

  PRELIM 2 - Match Summary
   

In reference to these three bouts, I have 3 very pronounced   things to say.  Agitator Jr-Agitator JR-AGITATOR JR! To my disbelief, it   was able to hold its  own during the matches despite its major   unbalanced weapon system. In Round 1,  Residential Berserker wastes no   time in taking full advantage of its agility  over Agitator. However it   needed to be a little faster to get to it before it  spins up. Once AJR   got up to speed, it was all over for the rammer. Even with  the   desperate attempts RB had in almost winning an OOTA, AJRs chassis was   just  to awkward for it to score a good outing. Eventually with enough   battering to  the exposed top and sides of the Berserker, and   dismantling its razors altogether,  Agitator scores an easy win. Round 2   and 3 were similar. Residential gets too  excited with its pushing   power advantage and simply gets top-ripped by the  flailing sledges of   Agitator. RB does get a chance to slow down the motors of  Agitator JR   in one of the bouts, but it simply was out matched in terms of weaponry.    The Winner:

Agitator JR with 3 KOs for all 3 of its   matches.

  ROUND 1 - MeatCleaver vs Backfire (forum view)

  ROUND 1 - Match Summary
   

This match has actually messed up fraps quite a bit! Due to   the  external DDTs of MeatCleaver, havoking was extremely common in all   three  rounds. That being said, it is only fair to allow both bots to   fight in one extra  round. We all get to see the true potency of a Drum   in a tournament. In the  first round, Joda's MeatCleaver, having the   faster HP motors, zooms head on  into Backfire and as expected, strikes   some points in the process over  Backfires exposed sides. However,   things for the Big red bot soon turn for the  worse. Almost instantly,   the deadly spinning drum of Backfire makes short work  of the arms of   MeatCleaver - rendering it quite useless. Now, every good bot  builder   knows that when you snap off an exposed DDT or any burst motor for that    matter, chances are, havok follows. And so it did! In all three rounds,   027LB's  Backfire manages to snap off both of MeatCleaver's arms who in   return,  invisibly knocks Backfire around shortly after. You can even   see me struggle to  keep the cam view straight as it gets knocked around   due to the sudden lowering  in FPS! In the end, and quite comically,   Backfire simply turns around and  gut-rips the exposed chassis of   MeatCleaver; finishing the job with its TMD  powered weapon. Rounds 2   and three are similar, as Backfire does the same  strategy to dispose of   its Sausage-slicing duelee, except that in the REDO  round, Backfire   gains a little lift from a havok burst from MeatCleaver's first  arm,   sending it straight on top of MeatCleaver's second arm; breaking it (in    matrix style almost). The Winner?

Backfire with 3 KOs for all 3   of its  matches. Granted winning the REDO match as   well.

 
 
 
  ROUND 1 - Indestructable vs Whoop (forum view)

  ROUND 1 - Match Summary
 

The two bots, though both are pretty well designed, it then comes down  to who has built their bot to outlast and   outclass the other. As  expected Round 1 starts, and FOTEPX's MW   Rammer, Indestructable wastes no time  in charging the Sns of Somebody,   the enduring Whoop. Things look pretty slim  for it as Indestruct deals   heavy blows on all sides of the spinner, trying to  close the gap   between it and the spin up intervals of Whoop. During its  onslaught   through timed attacks, Indestruct overcompensates and misses Whoop    completely, nicking the arena walls and breaking off its protective Sir   Kill  Drill guards. This one error has now put its much needed mobility   at risk,  since now Whoop is able to land a blow on those huge wheels.   The Rammer slides  and spins around trying to aim for another opening   but it then becomes apparent  on the toll on the bot due to its reckless   hurls and thumps. Slowly but surely  Indestructable begins to fall   apart and ultimately one lucky strike from Whoop  slams off its right   wheel, costing it the match. In Round 2 Indestruct flies  off course of   Whoop and slams into the wall, giving Whoop much needed time to  spin   up. Whoop then deals a massive blow to the Rammer and knocks off it's    right drill guard. Both bots as in round 1 take turns knocking weapon   after weapon  off eachother. Ultimately though, Indestructable's   mediocre turning gets the best  of it and it spins itself out of the   arena, giving Whoop another win. Round 3  starts out similar to Round 1,   except Whoop knocks off Indestructable's wheel  early on. Having   trouble maneuvering, the Rammer is now pretty harmless besides  an   occasional crash here and there. However it wins the round through   racking  up more points that the Sns.
  The Winner?

Whoop wins with 2 TKOs Indestructable wins 1 TKO.

 
 
 
  ROUND 1 - Vector BLING vs Enigma X (forum view)

  ROUND 1 - Match Summary
   

This match up was one of the more anticipating ones for me. As   G.k.'s  powerful but weaponless flipper, Enigma X, Takes on Doom   Killer's Destructive  Hammer, Vector BLING! All of the three matches   were action packed, as you will  see in the video. Round 1 starts off   with Enigma gaining the upper hand in  terms of maneuverability, thanks   to its special popup AI, and slams into the  hammer bot. Vector quickly   retaliates by slamming down on the non-damaging foe  with some heavy   blows, costing Enigma a flipper panel. Both bots continue to  clash   brutally until Enigma catches a huge havok, sending it spinning   violently  before crashing its right side into the ground and earning it   a Redo. Round 2  goes out much better for it at first, with Enigma   literally throwing Vector  around judo-style, but it then becomes   apparent that the wide robot simply  needs to land some few quality hits   in, and it does, this time breaking off  both of Enigma's flippers.   Vector BLING then simply finishes it off for a KO.  Round 3 was probably   the greatest in showing a flippers true potential. Lots of  good   launches by Enig in this round and in most cases leaving Vector BLING    mostly on the sides or edges of the arena. Thanks to its wide design   however,  it made it awkward for the flipper to OOTA successfully.   Things then seem to  look better for the hammer, as Vector manages to   snap off a flipper, but then  it instead amplifies Enig's flipping power   drastically! Acting almost as a  Rupt, with one well timed flip, Enigma   X manages to launch Vector BLING CLEAR  out of the arena! You can even   see me have a little bit of trouble trying to  find the hammer, just   managing to get a shot of it coming down in the overhead  cams. The Redo   match was less spectacular however, being identical to Round 2,  Enigma   was once again rendered useless by the powerful hammer and destroyed    after a long tussle.
   The Winner?

Vector BLING wins with  2 KOs Enigma X wins 1 OOTA.

   
   
   
ROUND 1 - Darkblade 2.5 vs Agitator JR (forum view)

  ROUND 1 - Match Summary
   

Nothing could be any more expected than the loss of my VS   Darkblade 2.5 vs the HS Agitor JR, and to be frank, I concur. Round 1   was completely in the hands of Agitator, who simply knocked Db 2.5 over   and hacked away at it till it won. Rounds 2 is similar with Darkblade   losing its drive and most of its blade. Round 3 was also similar but   ends with Agitator OOTAing himself due to its high recoil. Still it   didn't affect its score too much.
The Winner?

Agitator JR wins with 1 TKO and 1 KO Darkblade 2.5 wins 1 TOOTA (Technical OOTA).

   



ROUND 1 - Purple-xed vs Electronic (forum view)
 

   
  ROUND 1 - Match Summary
     

This match was extremely straight forward, as Purple-xed by   Squirrel_Monkey simply dominates all three rounds with J24's Electronic.   In Round 1 though, the rammer seemed to do the most damage by   successfully snapping off both small flippers off of the popupish robot.   Luckily however, it didn't do much in hindering the wedgyness of Purple   who easily slipped underneath Electronic for a gut-ripping win. The   other 2 matches were similar, as I cannot really say much without   spoiling most of the details within this match, it was that short and   sweet. But looking towards it at another perspective, this match is   probably the fastest loading video so far! -ahem-
The Winner?

Purple-xed wins all its rounds with 3 KOs.

   



ROUND 1 - Sparkplug vs Kulpa (forum view)

  ROUND 1 - Match Summary
       

Another match that was in favor to the expected. Despite   my uttermost hatred towards crawlers (of which I forgot to ban, so my   bad on that one), I must agree that Daemon's Kulpa actually functioned   pretty well in terms of mobility. However, a few scratchy wheels wasn't   enough to deter the mighty Badnik's  Badnik, Spark Plug. Extremely   durable, the face spinner only had to endure the brutal onslaught of its   spiky friend, like a tiger in the grass waiting for the fatal blow.   Kulpa, though well armed, eventually loses its wheel weapons in Round   one, which also had cost it the little mobility it had. Well deserved   after dealing with it, Spark Plug simply gets the crawler into a corner   for a gut-ripped KO. Round two was similar to Round 1 and Round 3 was   also similar, except that Kulpa was able to withstand being destroyed by   the Eggman themed bot, but was unfortunately counted out in the end.
The Winner?

Spark Plug wins all its rounds with 2 KOs and 1 TKO.

   


ROUND 1 - Glacier vs SEGA 32X (forum view)
 

   
  ROUND 1 - Match Summary
         

Round 1 starts to come to an end, and the matches are   just getting better and better! freeziez's Glacier pits up against   R1885's SEGA 32X. Who will win this battle of the wedges? Let's find   out! Round 1 buzzes off with SEGA and Glacier charging in at the start,   being matched in speed, it all comes down to who gets underneath who   first, and it doesn't take long before we find out who that really is,   effortlessly, the hinged wedges of SEGA 32 get underneath the MCB wedge   of Glacier and push it around for some damaging points. Glacier attempts   to retaliate with a few blows on the titanium chassis of SEGA 32X but   it just wasn't enough to bat away the opponent. In the end, Glacier's   armor-less back and top are its downfall as SEGA scores a win. Round 2   and 3 are similar, except that if you notice, it seems that with every   new round, Glacier is launched higher and higher in the 'start up   clash'. Bravo to Glacier though, it puts up a pretty good fight in   Rounds 2 and three, but it sadly was only able to smack down on the huge   front wedge of its opponent. That, and the fact that it was too slow to   self right had cost it the bouts.
The Winner?

SEGA 32X wins all its matches with 3KOs.

    ROUND 1 - Match Summary
               

Now I know what you all are thinking, "What  the !? An 11 minute video??? Here we go again...." I could feel your  pain, honestly, however this match is chuck full of action all over the place!  At least... I thought so. This vid is cut to the tee, and was much longer (22  full minutes to be exact). So let's dig in on some highlights during the three  rounds, shall we? At the start of round one we see Tunneler steaming ahead to  face the SnS, Invisible Pink Unicorn. Of course though, one can get an inkling  that a face spinner is at a disadvantage against a Sit and Spinner, and with  that factoid I must concur. As true as my predictions before the tournament  even started, Pwnator's IPU spins up. Though it seemed as though the powerful  Juggler could just get it into a corner for a gut-ripping win, this Robot  Unicorn isn't one that will be pushed around - even if it is pink! Tunneler  puts up an excellent opposition, relentlessly ramming itself into the spinner  in search for a weak spot, but the triangular IPU has just too much torque to  let it in. It over time loss most of its components, it and the SnS, and  Tunneler manages to hang on until time is up. Sadly though, IPU wins the round  by points. Rounds 2 and 3 are similar, except IPU which havoks mysteriously in  Round 2 adding another round after Round 3 (the round in which Tunneler gets  counted out in an awkward position). The Redo match was also similar to Round  1, and 3. Basically IPU is pushed around by the Juggler, Tunneler, who in turn  is broken down again and strikes out with less points.
  The Winner?

IPU wins with 3TKOs.

ROUND 2 Matchups:

ROUND 2 - Whoop vs Backfire (forum view)
   

     
ROUND 2 - Match Summary

A very quick match indeed, all in favor of a simple rule that we all must abide and learn from. If you don't fully protect your robot, don't expect to go very far. A nice match overall however for our first ROUND 2 match, Backfire storms in in attempt to grind down the super durable Whoop. The Sns, though slow to spin up, just manages to muster enough speed for a plethora of hard smashes and thrashes, mainly targeting the unprotected sides of the Drum and costing it a win. Rounds 2 and three were similar.
  The Winner?

Whoop wins with 3KOs and moves to the Semifinals!

ROUND 2 - Agitator JR vs Vector BLING (forum view)

ROUND 2 - Match Summary

Though this match turned out lengthy (18 minutes compressed to 8 minutes anyone?) I was able to save all the highlights of this match. The match pits two very strong competitors and the outcome was pretty interesting as well. Round 1 starts off with Vector BLING getting the upper hand in terms of speed, seeing as the HS Agitator JR spins itself off balance at the start of the match. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, it kind of does this in all three of its matches. Anyway, Vector and Agitator switch blows until its apparant that the hammers extenders just can't take anymore abuse. Eventually, all of the weapons of the poor Vector BLING get knocked off and around the arena floor, and a simple turnover (after a dose-e-doe of the two behemoths i believe) immobolizes it - costing it the match for that round. Rounds 2 and 3 were actually the ones that had me more interested. As Vector BLING, though trying its best to damage the chassis of the sledge hammer slinging Agitator, loses its weapons one more. Only this time, it was snapped off just enough for the remaining extenders on the bot to still srimech the bot (good last resort building IMO). In result, and I kid you not, Vector manages to snag the HS on one of its Overkill blades and tosses it out of the arena, effectively counting as a TKO! The third round was similar but the high recoil of Agitator did most of the work in throwing itself out.
  The Winner?

Vector BLING wins with 2TKOs and moves to the Semifinals! Agitator JR wins with 1TKO.

  What's Taking So Long Gig?!
 
  As   you know, doing tournaments takes a while,  let alone matching entire   teams, so I am working diligently to get as much  stuff rolling as   possible. First, We'll start with tournament 1. After that  tournament   is complete, we'll start tournament 2 and so on. This way, all of your    bots will be in at least one of the 3 tournaments. Until then, let's   get this  party started with Tournament 1! Good Luck to all of the   competitors.
 
  Also, just letting those new to tournaments know. This thread will be huge. All  three tournaments will be discussed here.

As for the entries, here are my thoughts:

Team Uncia: Sorry guys, nothing new because of builders’ block (except for Tunneler’s new weapon setup), but I still think I can do well.  BTW it’s Iron Tumbleweed VI as in 6, not IV as in 4.

Team Ultimatum: Stock parts in DSL?  Blasphemy!  That being said I like the look of Darkblade 2.5.

Team Lazer: Shoop and Da look pretty good, but in not sure about the extenders on Whoop.

Team G-Union: *Insert whiny comment from Naryar about crawlers being "ghey" here*.  I like Kulpa the best because it has a lot of weapons and is realistic (as much as a crawler can get).  Still though, stock parts as well as no realistic rule?  What were they thinking?

Team Distant Lack of Monkey Related Bots: I’m assuming we’re fighting in a closed arena, thus I don’t think the flipper is going to do well here.  The other two however look good enough.

Team Eruption: Again the flipper is not going to do well in a closed arena, and Backfire would have been better as a gut-ripping drum.  Although since Spitfire has more weaponry than a standard MW sawbot, I think it might win a match or two.

Team Bling: Depends on the wedges, and Doomkiller really needs to get over his obsession with razor tips.  Since these bots have a wide stance they could trap bots easily, but how much damage they can do to their opponents’ chassis is crucial.

Team “The Big Freeze”: The popup looks like the only good bot on this team, but that shell spinner looks well-defended.

Team Genesis: They look well-built, but Sega Megadrive looks strange to me.

Team Plasma: Another flipper?  Defiance of Asimov doesn’t look like it has the speed to knock away fast opponents, nor does Whisk look like it has a good wedge, but I could be proven wrong.

Team Meatbeaters: Seriously why all the stock components?! 

Team Lastminuters: Not bad, but what’s with the third one?

Team Badnik’s Badniks: AOTFC is one to watch out for, and Spark Plug looks dangerous as well, but Grawlix looks too fast for its own good.

Team In: They all look really good; I’m just not sure about the wedge on the VS.

Team Residential: They look underweaponed, and underweight unless the weapons are on pistons.

Team Robot Unicorn Attack: I personally think PC4 is better than PC5.  Erasure, I’m sure, is deadly, but I don’t have a clue of how good IPU is.

Team The End of the Road: Not very well-built, but the SnS is okay.

Team Without a Cool Name: The popup and VS look pretty good, but I’m not sure about the HS’s stability.

I personally think PC4 is better than PC5.

PC4 is definitely a bit wedgier than PC5, but PC5 tends to have harder attacks than PC4 due to having the razors closer together. And PC5's more realistic. XD

And IPU has NPCFs, so it's brittle but deadly. :P

PREDICTIONS:

Team Uncia: All three bots look good and stable, yet vulnerable in the back. The HW should go the farthest.

Team Ultimatum: The LW should go about midway through its tourney, the MW looks good, but I'm not sure about its stability, and the HW is too vulnerable in the sides.

Team Lazer: The LW and MW look great, but the HW's weapons might break off too easily.

Team G-Union: ZOMG A WHOLE TEAM OF CRAWLERS!!!!1 Should all go pretty far.

Team Distant Lack of Monkey Related Bots: Depending on if there is a closed arena or not, the flippers could go very far if so. If not, then they shall Epically  . The MW looks very destructive, and should advance far.

Team Eruption: The LW has a good weapon but too much exposed chassis, the MW should get destroyed easily, and the HW should go far if in an OOTA-able arena, and possibly even if in a closed one.

Team Bling:  ... NOT! They should reach at least the Semifinals.

Team “The Big Freeze”: Yes, the LW is well-protected, and that should get it far, the MW should eventually get destroyed because the wedge isn't actually that good, and unless by a streak of luck he wins alot, the HW will Fail.

Team Genesis: They all look like good bots. The MW should go the farthest.

Team Plasma: The LW and HW should go far, however, the MW looks too unstable and top-heavy.

Team Meatbeaters: The LW might go midway, but Stock in DSL? Really?

Team Lastminuters: LW > Great, MW= Great, HW < Great.

Team Badnik’s Badniks: The MW and HW should do decently, and the LW is the best.

Team In: All should go pretty far.

Team Residential: LW should do good, the MW should do OK, and the HW will Fail.

Team Robot Unicorn Attack: They should all go far, but Erasure's the best. But his stability looks odd...

Team The End of the Road: I don't think the MW and HW should go far, but the LW looks good.
