Title: Death Battle - Signups
Post by: doot on October 22, 2016, 06:45:44 PM
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/88455Death Battle Main Splash.png)

Rules:
DSL 2.2 - Strict IRL, Heavyweight (399.1-800KGs)
Signups will last for 1 month, but will shorten or lengthen depending on the amount of entrants.
1 entry per person, but will be increased to 2 per person if signups last longer than expected.
I am able to AI your robot, but not very well, so I highly encourage that you AI your own robots.
I resserve the right to reject any robot for any reason, including if your robot is considered to be tryhard.
If your robot is rejected, then you will not have a spot reserved for the tournament until you rebuild your robot to the correct standards.

Building Rules:
All robots have to have 2-wheel drive minimum and show controlled movement, which means that other forms of locomotion will be banned.
Meltybrain SnS'es are allowed, but their weaponry must be static and not flailing or moving.
Clusterbots are allowed, but they have to total up to the 800KG weight limit. They can either be the same or entirely different.
---If 60% of the weight of the cluster goes out, then the entire robot goes out.
Modular robots are allowed, but you will have to tell me what weapon you want to use for your fights. If you don't tell me, then you'd better hope I choose the correct weapon.
Both of the DSC IRL extender packs are allowed.
Cheatbot2 is completely banned.
---The only exception is the hovercraft engine, with a little rule regarding this.
You can create flying robots, but they can only weigh a maximum of 175KGs. They have to be accompanied with another robot.
The usage of BFE is allowed.
Component Freedom is allowed.
All in-game glitches are allowed.

Battle Rules:
The arena will be the RA2#T2 Tournament Arena.
The format of the battles will be double-elimination. Each match is a best of 1, but the final is a best of 3 matches.
Each match will last 3 minutes.
Decisions will be made by me (with yugitom doing the decisions for my matches), judging on the criteria of Damage, Aggression and Control.
The first havok will mean there is a free restart, but the second havok will result in an elimination of the offender.
There will be grudge matches and a rumble at the end of the tournament. Clusters will only have one of the robots competing (what part you want to enter is up to you), and modular robots can only go with one configuration throughout the rumble.

Brackets:

My Entry:

Entrants:
01: DemonOfTomorrow - Pangolin
02: Rob Collins - Reading Steiner
03: 090901 - Strawberry Trapper
04: Baconus_Yum - The Living Whacked

06: Guldenflame - Night Terror and Torment
07: dragonsteincole - Carbonize
08: Craaig - Interplanetary
09: wakkydude - Galaxy Evo
10: Kurt - Frozen Over and Icepick
11: F1Krazy - Deathstalker and Venom
12: RedAce - Double O
13: TommyProductionsInc - Ouraung II
14: firestorm999 - The Migliore?
15: Geice - john the robbut
16: Mr. AS - WHAM-O

So if no building glitches are allowed, CF is banned, and BFE is illegal, why are the weapon motors sticking through the chassis?

Actually, I read it wrong, my bad.

so are you actually going to judge your own matches then?
also the RA2#T2 has been really overdone for IRL tournies lately, would be nice to see another arena be used.
don't sure why you would limit stuff like Killerdozer plows (sh** damage) and all the smaller replica dics to only one per bot either, and when you have a "reject for tryhard" rule do you really even need to restrict parts?

Yep, I'll judge them. It'll at least prevent the matches where one robot that dominates loses because it has no weapon while the other one has a weapon.
I would use a different arena, but I just want to start pretty simple and see if I can create more complicated tournaments later on.
I removed the limited weapon ruling as well, so go crazy with your weapons. Just don't go too crazy. ;)

--EDIT: Poll added. Vote away, peoples. :)

ooh boy hovercrafts ? even with the weight allowance that's a whole can of worms that you open.

literally hovercrafts negate 80% of most IRL designs.

They're only going to be for AW's, so they'll pose an annoyance to robots over being too OP. Think of them like Drones in Battlebots - Flashy, cool, but not the most useful.

I see no way that this can go wrong or cause controversy.

1.agreed
2.component restrictions are retarded anyways if you are going to filter out "tryhard" bots because you can easily tell who is trying to abuse them and who is not. (plus it can depend on bot types)
3.agreed
4.the hoverbots will literally be useless since they can only be AW and take weight from your main bot

I think I'm going to enter because I want to build a sh**ty drone. Also do you allow alternative versions of a bot?

If you are meaning modular 'bots, then I will allow them. You'll have to tell me what weapon you want for what fight, though, otherwise, you're gonna have to pray I chose the right tool for the job.

Just a question, what does BFE mean?
Title: Re: Death Battle - Discussion

Just a question, what does BFE mean?
Its an abbreviation for 'Bot File Editing. It's an external program used to modify values of your 'bots chassis, placement of components and what-have-you.

Ah
Still going to stick with in game stuff though.

HW tournament, multibots and modular bots permitted... seems like the perfect opportunity to test Venom, and Deathstalker's upgraded lifter config. Or should I just build a new HW? I think entering the same bot to too many things is frowned upon here.

Bot File Editing. It's not an external program, it's basically just fancy text file editing.

All right, 1 month for signups. If there are less/more entries, then I will increase/decrease the amount of time needed.

Next time, if you have a robot, please give me the file in my personal messages. Posting your robot on this thread means that you pretty much expose your robot to everyone here.
