Bascially I came up with a idea for a new official tournament. We are going back to the Noob Years!!!! here are the rules
-Stock LW`s
- No gitches allowed expect stacking (but no Supervolts!) and Servo overlapping
-You must not use Snapper 2s or 140cm Extenders. All other AI parts are allowed.
- Realistic rules
- If a havok occurs. Bots may have 3 havok restarts. If a havok occurs after the 3 restarts. The bot will lose the round
- 2 Out of 3 Matches won to win the round
- The Arena is the Combat Arena with Hazards ON!
- No Juggers or Popups allowed
- No BFE or AAM
- 16 Entrys
- Antweight Mutlibots allowed but no other mutlibots will be allowed! Mutlibots will be only elimated if both are imbolie or destoryed.
- 3 Minute matches
- 1v1 Combat
- You can reserve spots incase you are going somewhere or if you need to build a bot still. Reserves will go for 1 week.
- Entries can be upgraded once!
- No loser`s bracket.
- The only thing I need help with is the splash.
-
Good thing it's Stock, and good thing there is no realism. I'll probably enter if this goes to signups.
If this does pass, however, I'll help you with the splash, but it won't be the fanciest thing in the world...

Why no snapper2s?
- No gitches allowed expect stacking (but no Supervolts!) and Servo overlapping
why this?
- No Juggers or Popups allowed
why this too?

Read the top. Were coming back to the times I remember!

No. Just no.

- No Juggers or Popups allowed
The heck is a 'jugger'

for something touted as "a throwback to the noob years" you don't have a lot of restrictions. Maybe add realistic rule; most of us subconciously followed it
-
You say no realistic rule but you don't allow popups or jugglers?

Ok will do but BBeans 3 had Razors passing through the snow plow and servo overlapping.

So this is like the DSL "realistic rule"?
Ben, I know you CAN do this as you have posted a lot of youtube videos but I wonder if you will show the commitment when the time comes.

I would never quit a offical tournament.

looks neat but it feels kinda... err... ripoffofclicksidea-ish
no offense

*cough* N00B WARZ with official restrictions *cough*

I'm cool with somebody else picking up the Throwback rules if I decide to do Ironbot instead.
But, a few suggestions: Unless you were lurking a long time Ben, you don't know what bot building was like back in the classic era of the official forums and AceUplink and Jimxorb and Rejected and clutch1 and online non-AI tournaments. No one used any sort of hidden components back then, including AI parts like Emergency wedges. No one used small wedges either except as flippers. It wasn't like these days where every bot that's not a HS (and some that are) has random small wedges on burst motors that aren't even wired to fire.
Anyway, my point is that if you're aiming for a "classic" style of building, you should use more of the Throwback rules I made, not just a couple of them. But if you want to do your own unique tournament, then you should add some of your own unique rules, not just water down the Throwback rules. Like the "no popups or jugglers" rule, that adds a unique twist. Not like LW popups or jugglers are super common anyway, but still.
-
But there were classic popups and jugglers as early as 05!
-
This is such a ripoff :P (Sorry, but, it is :P)
Anyway, if you get the chance to host this, I hope you do follow it through, it may prove your worthyness
-
Please vote on this. I might be able to do it in 48 hours after signups are done!

After the fail of this. I am hosting a new tournament. Please close this.
