GroudonRobotWars vs. dragonsteincole***
This match may be long, but don't be discouraged from watching it because of the length. This match has its fair share of action, and is a good way to kick off the first ever UHW Tournament. Also, watch closely in fight 3 for a very epic OOTA.

Clickbeetle vs. 123savethewhales**
This match pits two very good competitors against each other in a long and grueling match. Both are well-built, but only one can win, so who will it be? This match is entertaining, yet the lag kills it a bit.

Little lost bot vs. Somebody***
These two bots are in a rather predictable match, which is quick, but does have a very interesting twist in the first round.

NFX vs. SKBT***
These two bots fight an an exciting, if long match. There are many twists and turns, along with a surprise detail.

Stagfish vs. FOTEPX*
Can be described as the Immovable Object (Revolution) vs. the Stoppable Force (Perfect Cherry Blossom). Still entertaining a bit, but gets monotonous after a while.

J24 vs. 70 CUDA***
This match is quick, and has a lot of action. Not very close though, as there is either one bot or the other dominating each match. Bots will fly in this exciting battle.

Badnik96 vs. Scrap Daddy***
Our first match between two full weight UHWs. This one looks to be good, and it is full of parts flying mayhem.
Note: I can't seem to explain Crocodile's invertibility troubles. It uses an Omni.py AI.

This match looks good on paper and has some exciting and surprising moments, but drags on a bit. Still a good match.

This match doesn't sound to exciting but it is better than expected. Some good action and some surprising moments. The ending is rather anticlimactic though...

This match sounds exciting but is worse than expected. Not a whole lot of action. It is cool to see Hide come out to play though.

G.K. vs. Somebody***
A good match with a fair bit of action. Lots of flipping, flying, some blade hits, some lag, and some good old fashioned pushing and shoving.

Naryar vs. SKBT***
A lot of good and high flying action. Some twists. Some turns. Some surprises.

This match was boring for me to film but I cut out most of the boring stuff (the part where they are just sitting and hitting each other) so the shortened version is better.

Scorpion vs. J24**
Lag hurts this match but I doubled the speed of the first and third matches to make it a bit better. The match itself is still kind of slow in some parts, both in lag (2 fps x2 still is only 4) and in action.

Squirrel_Monkey vs. Scrap Daddy***
This match looked to be epic, but on my end, both bots were slow and took a while to start fighting. But I got rid of that for everyone.  :gawe: Good hits, decent damage, and a good matchup make this good.

Vertigo vs. somestrangeguy***
A generic UHW flipper battle. Has flips. Has some close calls for Ultra Bulldozer. This match is closer than you think it would be.

Stagfish vs. Enigma**
4 bots that have trouble showing a lot of movement. 4 bots that have weak weapons. 4 bots in this fight. Fun seeing Kamikaze Cube torn up though, but besides that... yeah not much.

This match has the damage you'd expect from a UHW match! It doesn't come too spectacularly but both bots are pretty mangled by the end of each match. I didn't do anything about the havok in Round 3 because the match was already decided.

I highly suspect Scrap Daddy's bot of winning this thing, unless one of the multibot flippers throws him OOTA. Squirrel_Monkey, Badnik96 and Stagfish are probably my favourite designs in the tourney. =D

DSC: Looks too unstable
CUDA: Messy designs, though I may be surprised
Scrap: Awesome <3
Enigma: SFTW. They don't make up 5000kg
LLB: Messy, but this may not actually be too bad
Somebody: Ooh, Bulldozer lookalike bot, we'll see how this does
Scorpion: Juggler looks unstable, Rammer doesn't look like it has enough weapons
Hydro: Better than I expected, though it will be slow for a rammer...
Click: <3 One of the better entries
GK: Looks very well built, one of the better entries
SM: Looks awesome, but for some reason I have a feeling that it is all just too much
Badnik: Messy
SSG: For some reason I don't like it
Nary: One of the better entries
FOTEPX: Too much for those JXs

I honesly don't have any idea. I went with the reach approx... 3500kg and spam heavy components approach.

1002 Problems: Underpowered, and the spinner won't be effective.
Armosaurus: Underweight, but cool, fast, and well protected
Callsign CUDA & Callsign Cuda 2: Messy, Slow, Powerful
Crocodile: Big. Scary. Powerful.
Destroyer Of Stuffs 2: WAAAAY too underweight to be good.
Disk Hammer V2: Powerful, but unstable (which can help and hurt it)
EFIE 6: The original. Should do well.
Fatal Tragedy & Tribute 1.5: Both unique. Both good.
Hammer 2: These flying bricks will be hard to kill
Hide & Seek: will go far
Hyena: Durable and Fast
LOL: Chained dual perms with Perm 132s on them. Needless to say, it has a slow spinup.
Mass Torture Device: Spins slowly in general
Minesweeper's Revenge: Slow turning and weak weapons
Nidhogg: Kinda overkill on the razors, and I'm not sure about the wedge setup
Perfect Cherry Blossom: Looks cool, but rather weak
River of Pain and Rather Large Mouse 1.5: River of Pain is scary, and RLM1.5 can stand up for itself pretty well.
Redstone Compass and Redstone Watch: Compass is alright, but Watch cannot self-right at all.
Revolution and ROFL Flying Kamikaze Cube: Kamikaze Cube is a suicide bot and Revolution can hardly move. SFTW
Runtime Error: Another brick. Will be hard to kill
Squish: I am interested to see how this does
Steel Grinder: Very powerful, very effective
Tiamat: Kind of a WTF bot. Not bad though
Ultra Bulldozer: EFIE klone. Will do alright. Except for an early AI test which revealed a startling disadvantage

It isn't an AI error, its a build error. I found it in an AI test because they got tangled, flipped each other, and ended up there. I took a pic because I thought it was hilarious how they were next to each other and that the other bot was flipped. The AI works fine, its just the wheelguards.

Meh, i'm kinda predicting a same thing for me, with tribute ramming fatal tragedy by accident, that is if another bot actually went up those terrible wedges.

Although, not that many wedged bots in this, which is a good thing  :approve:

Ooft...I feel so sorry for you, Vertigo, your bots are brilliant apart from that one flaw. I imagine they should OOTA their opponents fairly easily before it actually happens.

I think I went _way_ too conservative with my bot :/

Dang there's alot of multi-bots. Predictions:

1002 Problems: Sorry man your a great guy but I'm gonnaSee  have to  :SFTW it.
Armorsoraus: Pretty sweet. Should do fairly well if it's balanced.
Callsign CUDA's: Sloppy extender work but great wepon power.
Crocodile:  :surprised: that is amazing. A whole lot of wepons.
Destoyer of Stuffs 2: The weapons are deffinently not big enough. 2 of them will be interesting though.
Disk Hammer V2: Lots of weapons. But it's to susceptible to robots like....
Epic Flying is Epic 6: Should pwn all of the spinners.
Tribute 1.5 & Fatal Tragedy: Looks cool but Fatal Tradgedy will be set off balanced by a rammer and the wedges aren't good enough on Tribute 1.5
Hammer 2: Hydro :rolleyes:. Should do well agains HS and FS.
Hide & Seek: Seek is cooler but I have a feeling that hide will be more effective.
Hyena: Nice I like it. I think the plows on the side are kind of a waste. Should do well.

Mass Tourture Device: See LOL.
Minesweeper's Revenge: That is really cool. Excited to see it fight.
Nidhogg: Typical amazingly efective Nar.
Perfect Cherry Blossom: Nice job FOTEPX. We'll see how the wedges fair.
River of Pain & Rather Large Mouse 1.5: ROP is sweet. Do Sir K Drills have normas? RLM 1.5 Will back it up very well if they do.
Redstone Watchh & Redstone Compass. They back eachother up nicely should do ok.
Revolution & ROFLFKC: You have got to be joking Stag. Revolution is cool too.
Runtime Error: You need a Nar AI Team of robots like this. It's amazing.
Squish: It's gutsy to use beater bars for a hammer on a SHW but you did it well.
Steel Grinder: I have nothing to say other than wow.
Tiamat: Once tou start making a triple hybrid it because annoying and effective.
Ultra Bulldozer. Good luck against the heavier opponents.

hahahhah only 7 out of 24 are actually UHW(including stag).

I do like my chances against a lot of these but can see myself getting flipped out of the arena or having one of my discs ripped off.

Hide: I'm going to guess this is the defensive minded bot.
Seek: And here is the flanker... well it might do well against the single bots, but not so much against the rest.
Hyena: Depends on wedges. Good bot i guess

Mass Torture Device: More like Mass Failure Device, amirite ? Ridiculously overblown to the point of silliness.
Minesweeper's Revenge: Relatively fail drive will lead this bot to it's doom.
Nidhogg: Untested yet. Most likely won't win this, but we'll see.
Perfect Cherry Blossom: It doesn't looks very dangerous tbh. Let's see if the wedges are good. Also -1 for faggy name
River of Pain: Looking good. Slow spinup speed though.
Rather Large Mouse: More like "King Mouse" or "Titanic Mouse" or "Fat Rat but comparatively worse"
Redstone Watch: Unusually good for J24. Though maybe he just cloned it from EFIE or Vertigo's
Redstone Compass: It's probably going to be very slow... also, might I ask why putting 7 irons on a stabilizer rod ?
ROFL Flying Kamikaze Cube: I see what you did there...
Revolution: The pole spikes are goddamn useless like that. The drive probably will also be useless
Runtime Error: Will it go OOTA quickly, or will it do well like it's little brother ? Time will tell.
Squish: Decent build. Can fair... well decently.
Steel Grinder: AWESOME
Tiamat: So the Queen of Evil Dragonkind has deemed to show her magnificience in this battle... Sadly for her, I think she is no god in this game.

To address all fears: ROFLFKC Will go OOTA or get counted out quickly. The lip is substantial enough that bots will have trouble getting on top. And I might be able to do a grudge match between Runtime Error and two Tribute 1.5s. ;)

I was assuming it would be 50% of the weight.  If I'd known that, I would have invested a lot more weight in Seek rather than Hide.


And I've got 123 first round... that will be a tough battle.  Especially since I'll have to KO both of them.  And then if I lose, I might get Redstone Compass which somewhat worries me.  Not quite so confident now...


Oh well, Hide and Seek should still put on a good show.  As I suspected, no one yet seems to know what the strategy is.  ;)


Also, Badnik and Scrap is going to be an epic battle.  Two of the few full 5000-kg bots, and Crocodile is actually tall enough for MTD to bring all its weapons to bear, and slow enough to allow it to spin up.  Dare I say there could be an upset in the making?


Also also, Nidhogg and Tiamat should fight at some point in the ultimate battle of mythological dragons.

Head is pounding way too hard right now to comment on every bot one by one, but awesome designs all the way around.  Even the weaker ones look cool.  More multibots than I had hoped, but oh well.
 
For those wondering, Tiamat was a 'top down' design.  Got it in my head that I wanted to build a five headed dragon and went from there.

Well hide is obviously supposed to be a rammer, perhaps AIed to ram the opponent into seek which, if you look carefully, has some spikes under the plow which is the secret weapon which click thought we might not see.

Now, what I can't quite put my finger on is what exactly those spikes do, I imagine they're meant to incapacitate the opponent in someway, perhaps they are on a burst piston and fire forward, or maybe they're on a burst motor, but I think that one's more unlikely.

I think the rammer is the target, especially build to last and to soak up damage, and the HS flanks or backstabs. And the HS setup is specially designed to rip off wheels, especially when engaging a bot by behind.

And about the iron spikes you are talking about scorpion, they're really not going to do much :P

And Nar, incase you didn't notice the rammer has wheels rotated in on the inside, just like tribute.
It's heavily armoured yes, but it's probably got a nice amount of speed for it.

1002 Problems is basically a bigger 1001 Problems. Same strengths, if any, and same weaknesses.
 
VS's tend to wreck wedges, though. And if you use a wedge as a flipper, that also seems to make it worse, in my experience. If you want to fend off rear attacks, try a hammer or something for defense (I have 3  :gawe: ), and focus your weaponry towards the front. Your bot always turns to face its opponent under AI conditions.

At least you had a valid reason for sending in two identical bots, your popup kept crashing Somebody's computer. I suppose the majority of people are entering this just to see how it goes.

Using up the 5000kg allowance in one bot is kinda tricky, though, hence why I have the almost pointless Heavy DS Teeth on the sides. And 11 hammers on the other three sides. So a multibot would be the simpler option. You kinda have to go utterly mad in one aspect of the bot to bring it up to the weight, I have 16 Wheel Drive, Scrap has the enormous crawler and stuff, S_M has the ludicrous spinning assembly, Yoda has the multi-hybridised weapon system. Should be fun. =D

DSC's bot has a skirt hinge, explaining the unwedgyness. And 1002 Problems uses SwitchDirRam. It has 'SightRange':0 in the binding so it doesn't ram, but it still switches when all of the Emergency flippers are gone.

The middle post doesn't have a collision mesh, so robots fit right underneath if you make them thin enough. No BFE required. And there IS a loser's bracket, so 123 isn't out yet.

Well now it looks like we need some with a bot that can to either just get hide up a bit to get hit by the blade or brute power to ram the arena bade hard enough to hit Hide.


Nice tactic but I see easy counters there EG a flipper with a long wedge.

That said, i'm still dubious of seek, I swear that thing must have some very dark secret, it seemed like the more mysterious one  :ermm:

:confused:  If you say so. Maybe it was not such a bad idea. Almost hoping you'll face him just to take out Hide. I admit it I have doubts if DHV2 will be able to down Hide with him hiding like that, though it is using tactics and I like that. I think I may have said to much.

Also, in that match in the intro where Hide goes under the spinner, I let that match go out and Ultra Bulldozer ended up winning it. Its possible.

Spinners will get eaten alive by the blade (though I could imagine something like deathstar getting at it. But since theres none of those in this tourney..). A hammer with a ridiculously long reach could, theoretically get at it. A rammer might be able to as well.

Hide is a genius bot though. Though it is a pity to see 123 in the LB so early...though we would be saying the same about Click. :P

Its making use of tactics and do to the arena's blade bar to blade not being there, I thinks its fair play. I tactics being used (Don't know why a lot of people hate them) it adds to the fun of watching and playing for me.

Yup arena was chosen from the start. Any of you could have used the tactic with a realistic robot just like Click did. Fitting that the naughtiest robot in the tournament was revealed on Christmas eh?  ;)

The match was VERY interesting. I like the idea of Hide's tactics, but I do think they clash with the realistic rule, what with driving through the blade shaft and all. I mean, if we have to build bots under the Realistic Rule, should the same thing not apply to arenas?

The thing is, this is probably more of a unique occurence, and it's a flaw with the arena, so it should be open to use or abuse.
Surely it wouldn't be hard for a patch to be made anyway if people want to use that arena with hazards on for tournaments.

I'm guessing it wouldn't be too difficult to add collision meshes to an arena. Kinda depends on whether or not one of the Arenamodders is willing to help out. Nevertheless,

it was a very clever little trick played by Clickbeetle, but...in my view, it directly contradicts the Realistic Rule, so I don't think it should be allowed in future tournaments.

 Agreed.  He used the arena to it's fullest advantage, as any of us could've.  He's basically made the most powerful Bar HS ever. And I applaud him.  However, I do think this should be the last tourney it's allowed in.  Otherwise, any future one in this arena will become a battle of this type, and those designed to destroy it

Yes, I actually agree that hiding under the blade should be banned in future tournaments.  It's one of those things that's only good the first time, like a joke or a mystery novel.


I actually didn't know that there was no collision on the center post until I tried driving into it (actually I did know from my early flat DSL bot Dead End, which some old veterans may have remembered, but I forgot).  I was originally planning just to hide next to the post which would have been completely realistic.  The lack of collision there just sweetens the deal.


It's not an unbeatable strategy though.  Slow bots won't get flung OOTA as easily, so something like Redstone Compass or Crocodile or LOL could outweapon Seek, then wait out Hide and either destroy it when it comes out and attacks, or win by points.  Hence why I said I was worried about Redstone Compass.


Looks like I've got 1002 Problems next though... this is precisely the kind of bot that will have trouble with Hide. :evilsmile:


(Congrats to GRW for winning his first fight though.  1002 Problems is tougher than it looks.)


Edit: *actually looks at brackets*  Oh, I guess I get Yoda... that's going to be considerably more difficult.  I must hope that Tiamat is distracted by Hide at some point, so Seek can flank it or perhaps Tiamat will get flung OOTA.

I was surprised though, that Steel Grinder got flung OOTA so easily.  In testing, an OOTA only happened when a fast bot rams the blade head-on at full speed, and sometimes not even then.  I suspect there was Havok at work here as well.  I've noticed that bots tend to fly further and physics in general are more wonky when the game is lagging, and the game was definitely lagging in this case.  I would be interested to know the results of our battle when Fraps isn't running.


And I made Hide big because I thought the rule for multibots would be you lose if 50% of the weight is eliminated, so I made sure to make Hide heavier than Seek.


I thought about entering just a single AW that hid under the blade and never came out, and let all the UHW's commit suicide on the blade... but I didn't want to be TOO cheap and controversial.  At least with Seek out there, the opponent has something to attack and a way to win by points.  And it is actually a UHW.

It's not about thought.  You just happen to have more information about the Arena than I do.

Yes it is entirely my fault for judging the arena by the picture and not actually go in to check.  I assumed the metal part was a wall.  Have I know it's an open arena with OOTA blade I would complain and not enter at all.  At least Joe explicitly explains how his arena works when he made CC4.

With that said, can I please be pulled from the loser's bracket as well?  While I admit that I usually take losing very seriously, this is the kind of losing that's so explicitly frustrating that makes me never want to enter another tournament again.

I don't see the point in that.  The controversy comes from the arena and other people not knowing about it.

I never played on the blade arena so I won't know, but it did OOTA my bot in 1 hit.  Just watch the first 10 seconds of my match vs click.

That is one of the downsides of a multibot in this tournament. You have the advantage of teamwork and such, but it is MUCH easier for the blade to throw you OOTA, considering there's 2,500kg less for it to throw. The thing is, there's probably going to be a whole bunch of people in the same boat as you in the loser's bracket, maybe you should wait and see how it goes. You might have better luck, perhaps similar to Final Z in BBEANS 6.

Just a heads up...I just tested Tiamat vs. The Blade, and it's more than powerful enough to throw her OOTA in one hit as well.  In fact, it threw her so hard, she smacked into the wall and right back into the arena.  I do believe my only hope is my wedge being long enough to reach Hide before being thrown, and lifting it up enough that it gets thrown first.  That or ignore Hide completely and get a WBP on Seek...can't wait!

123, I won't pull you from the tournament because you put in some very good bots and you still have a good chance to win some matches. And anyone who is surprised by the arena, its your own fault as it is sitting in the DSL in every competitor's computers, there to check out, test, etc. Obviously some people did (CB, me removing the back wheelguards on EFIE), and some didn't (123, Vertigo's guards). That's your problem, not mine. It was in the first post, with a picture, and yes, I modded nothing of the arena besides putting on the skin.

I wouldn't worry too much about Crocodile being thrown OOTA. If LLB is anything to go by, Crocodile cannot be Eliminated due to its size. Which makes me even more concerned.

I almost thought that too in the third round. It seems to be a freak occurrence to last the whole match, although DHV2 usually lasts a little while before flipping back onto its wheels.

And yes, I won 2-1 with 2 TKOS and LLB getting 1 WBP.

Three fights in and already there has been a lot of action and controversy. Plus I think these are probably the most 'professional' fight videos i've seen so far. Although the stat screens tend to fade away very quickly.

Well done to GRW for winning our fight though, Still have a lot to learn, but hopefully I can go far in the loser's bracket.

I will be the first to admit that Hide's strategy is... not exactly cheap, according to Joe's definition, but abusive of the arena and loopholes in the rules and certainly cowardly.  That's why I made it come out and attack after 1:30.  So you only need to survive the blade for 90 seconds.  (With any luck though, Seek and the blade will have softened you up a good deal by then. ;) )

The blade is told to be unstoppable in the .py (not just near-infinite torque; there's actually a way to make it unstoppable), so anything that hits it, no matter how heavy, will be flung away at the same velocity at which the blade is spinning.

Now, regarding the elimination issue: it is easily possible to edit the arena .py so Disk Hammer, Crocodile, and other bots are always eliminated when they get flung OOTA.  Disk Hammer really should have been eliminated in that first fight with EFIE... BUT you could argue that if you fix that, you also have to fix the blade post collision, or leave the arena as is.


If you decide to fix the elimination issue, just find this in the .py:

Well, doesn't happen everytime, but it CAN was my point.  Seems to be about 25% of the time.  And that was me driving straight into the blade at match start.

Thanks for that fix Click. I will leave the arena as is for now because I think that it is a special skill of robots like DHV2 to be hard to OOTA, but if I come across a bot in the tourney that is actually impossible to be eliminated, I will make sure they don't win that match ;)

Not exactly... there is a tactical reason I made Hide come out after 90 seconds, actually.  I figured that if the opponent isn't OOTA or heavily damaged from the blade by that time, then they're not going to be, and they could very easily win by points from beating up Seek.  So Hide's job then is to act as fresh "reinforcements" and hopefully pull ahead in points or perhaps destroy the weakened opponent.  I didn't put weapons on it just to waste weight.  ;)


Looking forward to the next fight, my money's on SKBT.  Hammers AND multibots will be double trouble for Runtime Error and I bet those hammers are strong enough to take out Techno wheels in one or two hits.

It has not been too havoky against other bots but I have never seen Squish havok. Obviously Runtime Error is a little havoky (more than you would expect from a rammer), as immortalized in the intro.

I think that the sheer number of beater bars hitting Squish combined with the massive torque from the hammers at the same time sent havoks up. I could tell from watching the FPS counter go from 20 to about 4 every time the hammers hit that it really stressed the game. It actually crashed twice between the end of the havok restart match and match 2 trying to start the battle.

Lag amplifies Havok, and there's never any shortage of lag in UHW fights.  The sheer number of beater bars almost certainly has something to do with it as well, though.  It seems that certain rammers tend to Havok against certain opponents--see Vetearn Destroyer vs. Anti-Christ V.Pincer in BBEANS5.  VD Havoked every single match against Anti-Christ, but never against any other opponent.  If that's the case, Runtime Error should be less Havoky in its next fight.


That said, I think the "mystery disappearance" of Runtime Error at the end of the last fight was caused by a Havok explosion from Squish.  There wasn't enough time for Runtime Error to accidentally drive OOTA, it wasn't anywhere near the blade, and there wasn't any contact between the bots, so it couldn't be the beater bar spam thing.  Squish was the only bot to lose motors and you can see an obvious Havok explosion that happens when Runtime Error breaks the BSG holding on Squish's side plow earlier in the match.


However, even if Squish did deserve a Havok penalty it would still win so it's not that big of a deal.

OK guys I was filming Revolution/ROFL Flying Kamikaze Cube vs. Perfect cherry blossom when the match ended with 30 seconds left when Revolution was up on its wheels (discs?) but was unable to escape immobility. It isn't able to easily escape it anyways, and it did not have less than half battery life? What do you guys think I should call it as because I really cannot decide? Free restart or loss for Stagfish?

I think AI tries to move forwards to escape immobility, and then if that deosn't work (it's facing a wall, for instance), then reverse will work by default. Unless, as you said, it's low on battery power, or it's slow as heck anyway.

EcoOmni.py.  It doesn't guarantee that bots won't be counted out, it only makes them turn off all weapons, put all power into driving, and then drive in one direction as long as possible (instead of driving forward and backward according to a timer).

Aha!  Try reducing the radius a bit.  If the radius is too big, bots will tend to turn around and drive away from the walls and also have trouble navigating around hazards (as PCB clearly did in that match).  I almost never use a radius bigger than 1.2.

It may look it but I believe that it was the spinner hitting one of Crocodile's back wheels. MTD was up in the air a little bit and then Crocodile hit it and it got punted out like a hockey puck.

It could I think but I have it invertible because for the most part, it lands invertibly and still drives around. Wasn't sure what to do in the particular situation but I believe that Tiamat would've just kept ramming the blade until it was thrown OOTA.

Thanks. Last year we went 3-14 with 1 flukeish win over a good team and 2 wins over a really bad team. Seeing the schedule this year, we found out that we were not playing that bad team at all, and had a hard schedule overall besides a few games.

Our first game was last monday against the team that we beat last year in the fluke, and they also knocked us out of the playoffs in the first round. (NH playoffs include a lot of teams lol)
A 4-1 win later, we had our first win.

Next game happened thursday againsta northern NH team (we are in southern NH) that we had not played in years. They sucked at soccer and basketball but we did not know about baseball. A 20 to nothing 5-inning mercy rule win over a horrific team later, we were 2-0.

Next game was against the team that is the bane of our existence. They knocked us out of basketball playoffs 2 years running. Only team to beat our state champion soccer team this year IIRC. We have a wood vs. fire rivalry, and we are the wood. We won 6-1. So now we are 3-0 :D

Our game is against the team we had our first game against, and is our first away game. We are excited for it, needless to say.

Omni does have the reload code so it will work.


A 'reload' of somewhere between 16 and 24 (2-3 seconds) would probably be adequate but I'm just guessing here.

Try EcoOmni.  It uses a slightly different unstuck handler specifically designed for slow bots.  (Also bots with low battery, but that's not the problem here.)


Note: you will need to re-wire the spinner with an analog control for EcoOmni.

Did I not wire my hammers as Srimech also? Seems to me they shoulda fired. Or was Tiamat just not inverted enough to trigger them?  I'm not griping or asking for a rematch.  If I forgot, it was my own fault.  Just curious.
 
And I agree with no multibots when/if COTT 2 comes around. To me, that was part of the challenge in this, making an actual UHW.  But, at the same time, I don't blame any of the multibotters.  It was quite difficult to get all the way up to weight limit, or even close with one bot.  Tiamat originally had a twin sister in Takhisis, but I decided against it.

I have been thinking the same thing for COTT 2.

And I wired the bot as invertible because it is sometimes able to get some traction to scuttle around. Most of the time it wouldn't land the right way for the hammers to self-right it or help at all. If you would like, I could try it with the hammers wired but I'm not positive that it will make a huge difference.

Ok, the ruling... WATCH MATCH FIRST

The only havok that didn't have an explanation (sorry, forgot to put it in) was in Battle 4, where it was an NFX havok forfeit, because it was the only thing that havoked. In earlier matches, I was generally going on who havoked first.

Match 5 had Runtime Error get stuck on the side with no havok intervention, and the havok of Minesweeper's Revenge did not affect it (it was already stuck up there).

LOL great music choice for that match.  Amazing how the lyrics line up just right so it says "Watch me exploooooooode..." right when the first Havok explosion happens.
 
Battle 4's havok was really weird.  It didn't look like a Runtime Error havok, but if Minesweeper didn't lose any motors... couldn't be much else.

Aha I was hoping someone would catch the music. As for the havok the only thing that is close as far as I can remember is when S32's robot havoked into it's own motor and flew all over the place. Different circumstances though. WHY CAN'T RA2 MAKE SENSE

It was a really wierd havok in Round 4, but I suppose there's not too much we can do about that. Fair play to SSG, hopefully he can make some more progress in the LB.

Ok tis will talk. To be honest I kind of expected my bot to die as fast as the others that I'v entered in other ternaments. Though V3 will have flipper defense once I figure out how this one is lasting a lot longer then I expected. (Though then again I was not expecting to spin up so fast/move/recover so fast lol.

very happy with that match, even though I lost 0-3 to two good bots. Action!  :bigsmile:

Fight 1: Was amazed Armo's wedges were as effective as they were, I honestly thought I had it until I was pushed back into the blade.
Fight 2: Disappointed, my own mistake there with those useless wheels on top.
Fight 3: What I thought would happen straight away. :mrgreen: Utter destruction of my bot.

I was thinking as well about how unfortunate it was for you to go 0-3. Armosaurus did a really good job. But I agree on the extra wheels lol

Helps when the Steel Grinders just attack each other though (they liked doing that a lot this match :P)

DSC vs. 123 - BEATER BARS EVERYWHERE!  Not to mention friendly fire.  One of the disadvantages of multibots.
 
SSG vs. LLB - Sooo many close calls... especially in round 1, Disk Hammer is just dancing on the edge of the arena, taunting Minesweeper to try and come closer.  For a while I thought it might stay in long enough to win on points.
 
Also woohoo this tournament is picking up now that there's no rounds with 8 fights left.  My fight's coming up... pretty confident for this one.

Things went exactly to plan... by the time Hide came out of hiding, the flippers were so low on battery that they couldn't do anything.

So next round I'll get to see how I do against the bot I was specifically trying to counter, eh?  This should be interesting.  I actually would've rather faced Naryar at this point...

Then my sister wouldn't get off, so my mom, in her infinite wisdom, UNPLUGGED THE FREAKIN INTERNET. It was an hour long upload at 77% and its gone. And I'm going to bed (too many late nights lately). Well that was certainly a twist.  I wouldn't rank it 5 stars though, as it was more pure dumb luck than anything that RLM actually DID.
 
Also, would've liked to see more of River of Pain and Crocodile facing off.  Round 1 was awesome until RoP decided to commit suicide.

A little disappointed with Hide's utter lack of effect against flippers (I was hoping it could chew up the sides and take off the skirts) but a win is a win, I'm not going to complain.

Caught pneumonia over thanksgiving, got worse after I posted the last videos. Lasted for a while, and finally went back to school. Spent a week and a half, including weekends working on a ton of homework until late at night, and then caught a stomach bug that I've been suffering from for 3 day currently. But I got on the computer, and edited together the Winner's Bracket Final!!!

If there's ever been a valid excuse for slow updates, that is it.  Hope you get better so you can enjoy Christmas.  At least the homework part is out of the way now.
 

I'm happy about my victory (YAY FINALS) but in the spirit of fairness, I'm not sure Bulldozer was fully responsible for those Havoks.  It seemed to be caused mainly by the blade pushing it into the floor.  If I was filming, I probably would have threw those matches out without assigning penalties to anybody, unless it happened in almost every fight.

Well that's exaggerating it quite a bit.  I am simply aware that hiding under the blade and taking advantage of dumb AI is a cheap way to win, and I'm trying not to sound arrogant or brag about how clever my strategy is.
 
I'm fully hoping I can beat Vertigo in the finals and win the tournament.  It will only be my second tournament win, and I can deny the crown to the flippers that have otherwise dominated the bracket.

Wooooo, my second tournament win!  I thought Vertigo had it when he flipped Hide in the final round... but then he got knocked OOTA by a flying Hide frisbee, and Seek stayed in the arena for the first time ever.  That was incredibly lucky.  If even one Bulldozer managed to stay in, it would've been different.  Good match Vert.
