Also, @Joe: Why isn't my very slightly updated version of Fire Ant in the splash? I sent it to you basically right after the first one.

Most likely the pics were taken before the updated one and I didnt think that far ahead :P (Pics were taken ages ago)

Dont stress though the updated one is present in my game.. I saved all the bot files in the robot designs folder with the files named the builders names.. if you updated I overwrote the old.

I will double check but im 99% sure I already have it in..
My above post explains everything about everything.

Well, this update is important, it takes out the shakiness and jumping of the bot.

I have no pm in my inbox that says that or has that download link..

the last pm you sent me was just...

https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/CCIV%20entry%20update.zip

I cant remember if that one matches the pics but check if thats the update your talking about.. Thats the one I have.

----------------------

Oh, WHEW.  That explains a lot.

...Just double-check you have Whipscorpion from me and not Thwack3, will you?    Doesn't hurt to make sure.

LOL epic fail on my part.. Whipscorpion is definitely in my game.. I can even recheck if you like but yours is easy due to the name change.. I cant believe I didnt pick up it was the old robot when I typed in Thwack3 for the splash :P Guess I was up to late...

Joe - I think that you should re-do who goes where in the loser bracket. As it is right now, there are no possible scenarios that bots on the right of the bracket will fight bots on the left of the bracket until a final. What you should do is alternate which side of the loser bracket that robots are placed into upon losing. For example: switch [loser 2-1] with [loser 2-16], [loser 2-2] with [loser 2-15] and so on. Only do this for loser rounds 2, 4 and 6 though.

This will eliminate the chances to losing to a bot in the first round, and then being knocked out of the tourney by the exact same bot in the next round, it will produce some more variation in matches, and reduce the chances of losing to a "bad draw." I'm fairly certain that Click does this to even a greater extent in BBEANS, and if you really wanted, I'd adapt his brackets just based on the structure of this tourney.

Also, Urjak's bot IS unrealistic by definition of this tourney. Although nothing is in the portion of the chassis that is cut by the disk, in order for the bot to work, the portion being cut by the disc would have to be removed, therefore changing the shape of the chassis from a cube to a rectangular prism, which, BY YOUR OWN DEFINITION, renders it inelligible for any Clash Cubes tourney. But I don't really care because I think he loses to the first good gut-ripper he meets :P

The issue I see with this reasoning is the idea that if a part is intersected by something moving, that part which is intersected must be actually considered removed when dealing with the other rules. This is an assumption being made on your part, the way I see a bot could just as easily be "reset" each time another rule is looked at, thus one "modification" in order to comply with one rule doesn't have to be carried over to the other rules.

Any comments would be appreciated. :D

First off, I'm not actually serious about your entry's realism. It's still within the spirit of the realistic rule, so it's fine by me.

Second, I don't like the method for following rules that you're postulating. Basically, what you're saying is that if a bot follows each individual rule, it can violate the rules as they are written out as a whole. This makes no sense! Isn't the purpose of having rules to make sure that nothing violates them in part or as a whole?

That is how I always interpreted them as, however this discussion made me reconsider this in the context of certain rules (i.e the slot rule and the cube rule).
Any comments would be appreciated. :D

Just when I thought it was safe to think I could have a relaxing tournament for once..

Joe - I think that you should re-do who goes where in the loser bracket.

boy you love making long posts..

yeah I havent even looked at the losers bracket.. in fact I didnt even make it, downloaded it from a brackets website, converted it to an image and added the glow effects

I just assumed it filled in the right places but I will swap over the numbers when the time comes....

Its a litttle on the too tall side as is.. so it would actually make it more cubic if it was flattened a touch.. and the inside of the disc could be thinner in real life so its enough to push it through Clash Cubes and DSL Realism rules.. Never said it flew through with flying colours.. it only just scrapped through after having a good half hour of looking over it..

The chassis shapes have a bit of leadway either way infact the only time im really strict on cube chassis is if its too tall or to flat for an advantage...

Example 1: Someone sent me a robot that had the chassis too flat in order to be invertible.. thus rejected as its intentionally not a cube to gain an advantage

Example 2: Someone sent me a robot that had the chassis too tall in order to fit more internals.. thus rejected as its intentionally not a cube to gain an advantage

The only reason Urjaks is that high is because he couldn't get the scroll to get that low (its higher then the lowest possible limit).. nothing occupys the space and the robot only gains a disadvantage of having it unprotected at the top of the robot.

Actually no, I just want to make sure things are fair and run as well as they can by pointing out things you may not notice.

But first he said it was high enough for a Half-sheet to attach then that it couldn't go any lower. Half-sheets don't attach to a LPH chassis. Sorry, I'm just soooo confused.

I'll refrain from doing the loser bracket and therefore the grand champ too until I know if Joe is going to switch up the loser brackets or not, but here's how I think the tourney is going to shake down:

Yes, I have LiNcK coming out of the winners bracket. Some bots are aided by great matchups, while others don't have favourable ones at all though, and that all plays a part in the results. Depending on the structure of the loser bracket, it's completely impossible to even guess a champion at this point.

Well sorry about the lack of anything happening.. I have been busy and also sidetracked with some other projects :P

Well the splash has been updated with the later updates that came after I took photos of everything..

And you might be able to expect some videos up sometime within the next 24 hours if all goes to plan (usually doesn't but hey lets all stay positive)
