Title: Clash Cubes IV - Plans

This is just the same reason as Click posted this for BBEANS 6, no doubt Clash Cubes will be a high demand tournament, so to get you all ready, since the sign up rules mean only 1 month max open.

ENTRIES RECEIVED BEFORE SIGN UPS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.  If I get bots before signups officially open, I will just delete them and you'll have to re-send your entry. (hehe copy and pasted from Click)


Weight:


Its going to be DSL 2.1 Lightweight, Bots can weigh no more then 249.0kg.


Construction:

Realism Rules

No part   can intersect another part that couldn't have a slot cut in it in real   life. Example: Spinner blade passing through armor plate   or chassis=OK.Spinner blade passing through wheel or battery=Not   OK.There is a small margin of tolerance, though. If a spinner blade just   nicks a motor or something, that's OK. Basically this rule is just   intended to stop burst-enhanced overlapping spinners like you see in   stock RA2.

Glitches in the game may be exploited as long as they do not violate the above conditions.

be wary however as you will only get one do over for the whole tournament if   YOUR own robot has a havok that effects the outcome for itself, there is also one match do over if YOUR bot causes a havok that effects   the OPPONENT bot

no AI parts or Cheatbot 2 only what is found in the bot lab of a "clean" DSL 2.1 copy

And   all Robots Chassis must be a cube shape of any size, this means a   square base, square top and equal height (so the bigger your base the   higher your bot)

I will AI any bots that need it but if you do know how to AI please do, any custom .py files are ok as long as they are sent along with the   bindings and only achieve a means of what would be normally possible.

Smartzones   may be used including custom ones(so long as you send along the files)   however they may only be used for the purposes of AIing no other use will   be excepted.

No BFE or AAM everything must be done inside the bot lab with exception to chassis skinning.

All Robots Must Show Controlled Movement.

My Skirt hinge collision fix will be utilized in this tournament rendering "Narmour" useless.


Multibot/Clusterbot:


Multibots or Clusterbots are allowed if you wish to make one, the rules are...

Limited to 2 robots only.

both parts must be in the same weight class (including AW and BW)

both parts combined must not exceed 249kg.

the whole robot will be eliminated if 50% of the weight is knocked out.


Format:


The arena will be The Clash Cubes IV Arena (which will be shown soon)

The format will be basic this time around, A 64 Robot Double Elimination Bracket.

All matches will be 3 matches at a limit of 2mins each.

All 3 matches will be ran even if a robot wins the first 2


AI


as said before custom .py's are not an issue otherwise please specify what   .py you wish me to use if you are not able to AI yourself (if you can   please do)

if you do not know the best AI give me a brief description of what you want it to do and I will work out a suitable one   for your needs  (https://gametechmods.com/forums/Smileys/gtm/wink.gif)

if there is an AI issue you may dispute it if you have some evidence and can explain the issue, in a calm mature manor, in the case its found to have effected the match outcome it will be re-filmed.

any disputing on no grounds *cough LRA2 cough* or straight out immature complaining will see you kicked out of Clash Cubes and stripped of all ranking data (KO's, W/L record, etc)

Sorry, as of currently, there is no computer that runs RA2 in our house... Yes my mom's and dad's is not good and my little brother's computer is even worse! It barely runs.... If you sell my little brother's computer to a complete idiot, you might be able to get 20€ from it....

So yeah, right now I have just about nothing, but if I do get myself a computer in time I might enter, but currenly the balances are pointing towards absolute data loss. So I will need you to send my prize packs again if that happends.

I will note that CC3 prizes are the only legal ones for use in CCIV so all you need personally is a copy of DSL 2.1  ;)

I hope you do manage to enter your one of the few people to have entered every Clash Cubes

not as easy as the CC3 one... its not part tabletop this time

I might draw up a crude paint drawing or Cad drawing to show before I finish the real one, it will change again in battles but it will be by the robots actions not on a time based thing.

thats all I can really give right now..

I said I wasnt going to ask but where is everyone ? :P 31 is less then CC3... I thought we could at least reach 48

Edit: I count 53 currently active members who entered BBEANS.. if you entered the biggest DSL tournament why not the second biggest ?  :gawe:

I felt CC3 was lacking (ahem.. not to mention confusing for some)... after that best/ funniest thread with everyone mentioning CC2 got me thinking I should just stick with what works

why change what people like?

(same philosophy for Backlash, im getting sick of people being picky when really all they do it for is because they like things the way they are  :gawe: )

Okay, first of all, the tournament is LW. Good luck building 2 SnS's that add up to 249kg. And secondly, multibots with an SnS part, on the whole, suck. One part will just sit there spinning, while the other half gets torn apart by your opponent. Just enter the one bot, trust me, you'll do a LOT better.

Even though I'm not exactly a dab hand at using DSL, I'll give this a go. Hopefully if I research some past competitors, I can at least make something that can beat Chain of Impending DOOM  :P

Hmm with all these old members entering, maybe I should too. I need to make up for missing BBEANS6 somehow. It's been awhile since I've even touched RA2 though, so I'm probably waaay behind on the current techniques and whatnot. I suppose I could make a token appearance at least. My DSL bots always did better in tournaments than my stock ones.

I just realized the amount of byes is the same in a 48 bot bracket and 64 bot bracket (with only 48 entrants)

so in that case it will be a 64 bot bracket to ensure nobody missing out if they didnt vote in the poll.

This is just the same reason as Click posted this for BBEANS 6, no doubt Clash Cubes will be a high demand tournament, so to get you all ready, since the sign up rules mean only 1 month max open.

Weight:


Its going to be DSL 2.1 Lightweight, Bots can weigh no more then 249.0kg.


Construction:

Realism Rules

No part   can intersect another part that couldn't have a slot cut in it in real   life. Example: Spinner blade passing through armor plate   or chassis=OK.Spinner blade passing through wheel or battery=Not   OK.There is a small margin of tolerance, though. If a spinner blade just   nicks a motor or something, that's OK. Basically this rule is just   intended to stop burst-enhanced overlapping spinners like you see in   stock RA2.

Glitches in the game may be exploited as long as they do not violate the above conditions.

be wary however as you will only get one do over for the whole tournament if   YOUR own robot has a havok that effects the outcome for itself, there is also one match do over if YOUR bot causes a havok that effects   the OPPONENT bot

no AI parts or Cheatbot 2 only what is found in the bot lab of a "clean" DSL 2.1 copy

And   all Robots Chassis must be a cube shape of any size, this means a   square base, square top and equal height (so the bigger your base the   higher your bot)

I will AI any bots that need it but if you do know how to AI please do, any custom .py files are ok as long as they are sent along with the   bindings and only achieve a means of what would be normally possible.

Smartzones   may be used including custom ones(so long as you send along the files)   however they may only be used for the purposes of AIing no other use will   be excepted.

No BFE or AAM everything must be done inside the bot lab with exception to chassis skinning.

All Robots Must Show Controlled Movement.

My Skirt hinge collision fix will be utilized in this tournament rendering "Narmour" useless.


Multibot/Clusterbot:


Multibots or Clusterbots are allowed if you wish to make one, the rules are...

Limited to 2 robots only.

both parts must be in the same weight class (including AW and BW)

both parts combined must not exceed 249kg.

the whole robot will be eliminated if 50% of the weight is knocked out.


Format:


The arena will be The Clash Cubes IV Arena (which will be shown soon)

The format will be basic this time around, A 64 Robot Double Elimination Bracket.

All matches will be 3 matches at a limit of 2mins each.

All 3 matches will be ran even if a robot wins the first 2


AI


as said before custom .py's are not an issue otherwise please specify what   .py you wish me to use if you are not able to AI yourself (if you can   please do)

if you do not know the best AI give me a brief description of what you want it to do and I will work out a suitable one   for your needs  (https://gametechmods.com/forums/Smileys/gtm/wink.gif)

if there is an AI issue you may dispute it if you have some evidence and can explain the issue, in a calm mature manor, in the case its found to have effected the match outcome it will be re-filmed.

any disputing on no grounds *cough LRA2 cough* or straight out immature complaining will see you kicked out of Clash Cubes and stripped of all ranking data (KO's, W/L record, etc)

nope none invertable. lol im putting it in my showcase in about 5 mins. and the drum,py dose not account for a robot on your back. with a well placed SZ any drum but this one will back up if they have a bot on the back of there drum.

Um... in all seriousness, if those bots can't beat an un-weaponed pure flipper in an enclosed arena, you didn't have much chance in CC to begin with.  I can 100% guarantee you that Claw Cube 3 would do better.


Nice demonstration of what I was trying to do with Flee Beetle though.

It doesn't have to be built in DSL 2.1. As long as armor is same, and it doesn't use NAR Ai parts, its fine. The rebalances fix themselves in a new DSL game.

KM, if you don't know what you are doing, build in DSL 2.1 if you want to enter a DSL tournament. Betas don't attach outside the chassis in DSL 2.1.

That outside beta bot is probably going to fail anyways. Just make a normal beta flipper, like T-4.

Yeah, there's not much in the way of properly unique AND effective bots at the LW level. I'm sure you oculd take a familiar design and put a twist on it, though.

My bot is able to beat FoF and Final Z,  Wafflez' bot is 6 months old and suckish anyway, and 027's can kill Sir Killalot in 10 seconds.

Same as a 64-bot bracket, but with 4 byes. So 4 people get into the second round automatically, and the other 56 have one-on-one matches, so there'd be 28 first-round winners, and 4 people who got byes, making 32 bots in round 2, and it carries on from there.

i tweaked a game a long time ago to shoot nitroglycerin, made the ,tga light blue gradient and put a line in the game that made a bot slow down a bit each time it got hit. no idea how i did it, but mad might still have it. i will ask him.

its no secret that you can edit the particle effects to appear as different things but sadly it goes the weapons too

so if I say made the arena have blue flames emitted everywhere robots would also shoot blue flames (not my idea just an example)

i modded a stock game so the flamers and didnt matter as they were a cheat part. i know there is a way to make "fire" damage a bit different. i know mine did 0 DP to the chassis but hit the rest of the bot. it sounds like what the normal ones do it was different in that it hit components as well.

Lol, If I had got tornado of souls to work I was going to try and give it blue flames to contribute to the soulyness of it.

Anyway, one of my many ideas was a flame SnS. It wasn't that good, but it was pretty  :gawe:
So yeah, I may enter one.

At the risk of going off topic... this made me think of something amusing.  Remember the "Build a bot using a dice" thread?


Assign a number to every component in the game, then generate a random number to determine which component you attach next.  (If it can't attach anywhere, generate another number.)  Continue until you have a functional bot.  :gawe:

it took time, but i was finally able to create an actual cube chassis (RA2 NEED WIDE-SCREEN SUPPORT). i now have made a nice and working entry. all that is left for me to do is threaten him to get this in sign-ups.
