OK, I have 2 ideas now. I need to decide which is best.
No. 1: Chinese Whispers 3: Lightweights
The same as CW1 and 2 but using smaller teams of 3 people and moving into the lightweight class.
I'm not sure if I could do this as it would need 24 entrants for 8 bots (my supposed limit is 16).
Yeah, so this would use an innovative bracket system that creates a 1-8 finishing list (although may not 100% reflect the exact order of bot quality). Basically the winners bracket goes ahead but after each round the losers go into their own losers bracket, the losers bracket also has its own losers brackets!
So for example, round 1: A beats B, C beats D, E beats F and G beats H
round 2: A beats C, E beats G B beats D, F beats H
Round 3: A beats E C beats G B beats F D beats H
Final result: Winner: A E C G B F D H :Last
OK, I made a diagram...: (https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/23047CW3%20Brackets.PNG)
No.2: Not Quite Replica Wars
DSL MW
Replica Wars arena skinned (If Badnik gives permission)
16 bots
Single elimination, alternative choice brackets (I'll explain later)
Entrants choose and reserve a DSL replica of a real life bot and then make a replica using ONLY the parts found in that replica and only up to 3 times the amount of them. e.g. use of BOB only allows 3 flamethrowers. Multi extenders (only as base extenders) and ant batteries may also be used. Reservations only last 24 hours from posting your reservation (so only choose just before you build).
Standard 1 on 1 best of 3 matches.
Alternative choice brackets: Each entrant ranks the other competitors in order of how much they would like to face them. I use this information to rank the bots. The lowest ranked bot gets its first choice of opponent, the next lowest gets its first possible choice in its list. etc. etc.... This gives more evenly matched battles.
So, which should I do? What changes should I make? And, any questions?
