Dan - One of the robots I was considering entering with was an HS (it was Potedon) but it wasn't very fun to drive so I didn't
Freezing Phoenix - I assume this is a WBP bot?
Ground Zero Evo - looks kinda tall and awkward, but we'll see
Cooling Down - I'll probably lose to this since it doesn't seem to have weapons
Paradise - Interesting
Exactly Lethal - Why is it so long? Must be compensating for something
St. Manticore - Weird wedges, but cool

Strengths
Migraine - great trapping ability and good drive
Dan - great damage, weapon motor is powerful, resistant to flanking
Freezing Phoenix - WBP factor and very nimble and tiny
Ground Zero EVO - updraft can be useful to keep opponents off the ground, tracks are durable
Cooling Down - invulnerable from the front, heavy (325kg), by far the strongest drive
Paradise - surprisingly stable, great wedge quality and coverage
Exactly Lethal - powerful weapon, good wedge
St. Manticore - wedge coverage, good weapon

Weaknesses
Migraine - super wide for the octagon (risky with all the hazards), mediocre weapon
Dan - unstable, bad self-righting
Freezing Phoenix - pretty uncontrollable
Ground Zero EVO - low damage, unstable
Cooling Down - no dmg, vulnerable flanks
Paradise - low damage, weak drive for control bot
Exactly Lethal - super narrow, hard to get and stay under opponents
St. Manticore - weak drive, mediocre wedges

Good use of the hammer in round 1. Those plows on lightning's bot make it pretty good at pushing. Could be dangerous, especially once the pit drops, as we saw in round 2.

plerco v 8bean
Flamethrower bot is speedy. 2fast for Paradise to get its weapon in. Nearly drove itself into the pit a few times, though, gotta be careful of that. Nice pitting in r2 as well.

thrack v evil toaster
Exactly Lethal is friggin long. It's a bit awkward to drive, but I can always back up and try again if my wedge fails me. Also it hits hard - last time, when I had the popup, I kept missing my shots with the weapon, so I went for a VS this time to ensure that hits connect.

not freez v 09
Oh, I expected Cooling Down to have a flamethrower, looks like it's pure push. 09's entire spinner coming off in r1 was hilarious, good thing he already had enough points to win. Points to Raven for that last second pitting in r2. A much more confident pitting in r3. I don't really want to face either of these robots, 09 would kill me with weapons and Raven would kill me with the endless abyss of the pit.

With that music, you know it'll be good. I think if Cringey had driven a bit more confidently, he could have destabilized 09 and gotten him in the pit. Or, maybe he would have just lost faster, who knows.

Nice avatar, Nightraven. Lightning made good use of his bot's width and wedge to keep Nightraven in control, despite the latter's stronger drive.

me v 8bean
Both these bots are pretty speedy, especially 8bean's, so this was a fast paced fight. 8bean might have been a bit too speedy, though.

Welp, I gotta fight Migrane. Migrane has the same amount of weapon, and looks to have about the same drive, but is a lot wider than my bot, so it'll probably push me around. I'll have to be careful. Migrane's weapon motor looks exposed, maybe I can take it off?

i think was also fact provided i didnt hit dead center i could get under otherwise it was just a wedge war and the bot was very front heavy when i drove it. im thinking as can use 4 free ballast pretty much all bots should use them in they have space and battery power as helps with control a lot.

smart of 09 to sit in middle arena as would score the points if attacked but run risk of being wedged

honestly with 30seconds to go i started to panic a bit was just the perfect angle coming around flipper i was able to rush and hope

When my weapon fell off, my thought was that I had to pit Migrane somehow. It was only at about ten seconds left that I looked up at the scores and realized I didn't need to win, I just needed to not lose, hence the cheeky running away at the end.
r2: This was brutal. I hit the flipper with some sloppy driving and Migrane just ate me alive.
r3: I went into this one in full-attack mode. I got a lucky chassis hit early on, and just had to chase down Migrane for the last hit or two. Started getting a bit better at breaking out of the spin of death, as well.

Huge points to Lightning, it was a great fight and I really think it could have gone either way.

Can't say I blame you, I was pretty salto about losing to that flipper (twice) in Centauri 1. ggs to you as well

The second one i was watching the timer to play around the pits which set me up soon as it opened. The 3rd match was a close one i was hoping the original hammer hit would of knocked a wheel or ended the match from there was down to a mistake from me driving into the hammer and losing a track and lightning took advantage quickly but im happy to finish 3rd with a push bot goes to show driving does matter

I thought 090901 was crazy for entering a shell spinner in the Octagon, but he was very conservative with the Spin button and stuck to the center of the arena and made it a legitimate threat.

Cooling Down is also interesting for having no weapon and relying entirely on the hazards (which Nightraven did impressively).

I wonder if Lightning S can take back-to-back championships?

jk. everyone acted sportsmanly (???) and pvp tournaments are way more fun and personal between the competitors and host than AI could ever hope to be. tons of banter and fun stuff in the discord. i really do thank everyone for being polite and timely, you guys made it a blast to host. Hope to do one again soon once my job slows down.
