Title: Calvinbot
Post by: 027 LB on September 05, 2011, 06:45:25 AM
custom HW
no realistic rule
all bots allowed
multibots allowed, both must be taken out to win (max weight 800 kg)
1-on-1 fights
combat arena hazards off
1 match
3 minute fights
single elimination
BFE, AAM and all other glitches (hax mode) allowed
32 spots
signups will run for 2 weeks, if all spots are not entered then a small cube with drive motors will be the bye bot
Nobody can be entered until a bot is received and accepted
bots can be updated as many times as you want
one havok restart then the bot is eliminated
You can use FB's, Darkrat's, Lu-tze's, AUBB parts, Alphasim RW parts, Space Arena, Backlash First Blood and anything else on the custom parts page.
NO NEW CUSTOM PARTS

basically Calvinball, RA2 style. Custom components, BFE anything is fair game. Only restrictions are:
bot must fit inside the arena
no custom AI to kill the bot before the match starts
no invincible bots, no bots with ultra armor.
no one-hit KO weaponry

I will film, Badnik will AI.

This should work, all things considered, if you fine tune the rules.

I may just built a bot for this.

Quote from: ACAMS
TOURNAMENT SIGNUP RULES:
  • YOU MUST BE ABLE TO AI AND HOST TO START A TOURNAMENT
  • Clear set of rules the tournament will run on
  • State how positions will be selected (brackets filled)
  • Weight class (the maximum weight entries can to be)
  • Game type (Stock, DSL, Custom)
  • Realistic rule or not
  • Type of bots allowed/disallowed
  • If Multibots are allowed/their Max weight/if one is out are both out
  • Battle type (Heads up, Teams, Rumble or Deathmatch)
  • Arena to be used
  • Arena hazards on or off
  • Time setting for all matches
  • One match, 2 out of 3, number of matches
  • Single elimination/ double elimination (will there be a loser bracket)
  • If BFE, AAM, or ANY outside game modifications are allowed
  • Which in game glitches allowed? (stacking, axle glitch, eFFe gltch, ect, ect)
  • Number of entrants allowed/ or set deadline for entries (deadline can be extended, but not shortened)
  • If a deadline is stated AND a limit to number of entrants you MUST state how empty spots will be filled
  • Nobody can be entered until a bot is received and accepted
  • State if bots can be upgraded, and how may times/until when, and if bot type can be changed
  • Havok rules/rules for a restart
ALL THE ABOVE MUST BE ADDRESSED WHEN STARTING A TOURNAMENT
You're missing the stuff in bold.
This tourney also has another major flaw: someone can enter super unbalanced parts (ramplates that do 9 million damage and weigh 1 kg, or 123STW's cheaty vlad spike) and just destroy the competition.

You might want to do what Enigma was going to do:

As much as I would like this to happen I think it won't. It's just not organized enough.

It's possible for it to occur, it just needs a lot of rules explaining the whole tournament. More than the normal amount.

Basically its a tourney were you just enter to have fun  (as the rules say, almost anything goes, even custom components.)

You need to limit the custom components though instead of allowing people to make their own.

Yes, I both replied to your PMs and posted in the NQRW thread that there are issues.

Calvin & Hobbes

As much as I like the tourney name there are some issues... for example, how do you define "invincible" or "1-hit KO weapons"?

I could make a component with 1,000,000 HP and 1,000,000 fracture and it would technically not be invincible... just very strong.

Also, 1-hit KO weapons are entirely dependent on what bot you're facing.  Regular old stock razor tips can be 1-hit KO weapons against the right opponent.

Or I could make a reasonable custom component with 1000 HP and 300 DP... but make it 0.00001 kgs so I can stack over 9,000 of them in the front.  Suddenly they become an almost invincible, arguably 1-hit KO weapon.

IMO there are two ways to do this:

-Regulate which custom components are allowed (for example, FB's, Lu-Tze's, Dummy's, and Darkrat's but no others).  Don't allow anyone to make their own custom components.

Or,

-Regulate nothing.  Make it a contest to see who can make the absolute cheapest bot that is impossible to beat.  Someone makes a weapon with 9 billion damage, HP, and fracture?  No problem.  In this case, you would probably want to keep the tournament very small (4 or 8 bots).  Also limit the number of components to 200 or something so you don't get bots with thousands of components that lag the game to oblivion.

I feel like entering an one-weapon 2WD antweight rammer in this.

I shall call it "Size Matters Not"

no custom AI to kill the bot before the match starts

But it's OK to kill them after the match starts?

HEHEHEHEHE.

Remember, no one hit kill weaponry... INCLUDING cheat AI's.

As long as you have only a .py to deal direct damage to the chassis by points I am fine cuz I can cheat by using ridiculously strong custom armor :P
