Looks like a fantastic tourney once again, GK.

Initial favourite, I think, would be Ounce. Looks like quite good, even though the hammers are only the 30kg variety.

And I seem to have drawn R0B0 here as well as BBEANS.

But as long as I beat Jonzu, I'm happy, and I can be eliminated safe in the knowledge that I achieved my main aim, and lost to one of the best  :approve:

Suppose. But then again, it happened to me in n00b Warz 3 (When Jack Daniels was champion with Rust Monster), and I was able to put up a fight before eventually beating him (And unfortunately myself in the process  :FFFUUU ), so if I can get randomly lucky and knock off one of the hammers and prevent him moving, I could get him.
 
Will probably lose though  :embarr

Hopefully the walls aren’t too low for Magmatic to be tossed out of the arena from the initial charge.  Even if they aren’t I don’t see myself being able to hold on to my championship title.

Round 1 Predictions:

Stealth Destroyer 2 over Minimus – Even with a long singular wedge I’m not sure if it’s going to help against a VS like that.  That is still one of the coolest looking drums I’ve seen though.

Son of MSHD over Hurricane – Hurricane doesn’t look like it can get that shell up to speed by the time SOMSHD is hammering at it.  Still Son of MSHD needs to keep it pinned otherwise it will risk losing its armor and having the vulnerable parts exposed.

Drumbayotch over Flipperization – 36 batteries?!?  Still it clearly has the better wedge here, but the flipper is faster so if it can escape the drum then it might be able to get under it and flip it out of the arena.

Dr. Spin II, S.D. over Forgot the Food – Dr. Spin just looks like it has the better wedge, and that’s about it.

2 Vroom or Not to Vroom over BLT (lol @ acronym) – Another battle of the wedges.  Vroom’s speed will help it here, but if it’s too fast then I could see it going the other way around.

Renal Calculi over Please Re-Enter Bot Name – Renal Calculi looks to have the better wedge, and even if dual HSs are more stable than single HSs, I can still see PRBN going out of the arena very quickly.

WiLd cUbE: VENGEANCE over Whiplash Recoil – So many wedges... Wild Cube might have the better one, but Whiplash Recoil looks like it has a good wedge as well; it could go either way.

Doom Donker over OverOverkill – Doom Donker just has the better weapons here.  If OverOverkill can get underneath its opponent and deal enough damage to the disk, then it can win via immobilization, otherwise the odds are against it.

Crown of Flames over Stiletto Violence – You just HAD to give it a wedge didn’t you JoeBlo.  Even if it does have the better wedge, I don’t think it can remain under its opponent long enough for it to tear off its wedge.  Crown of Flames just looks like it has a lot of chances to get under its opponent.

Do you really think so Ounce? I'm quite flattered! And good luck against me in your first fight if I do qualify.  I have a gut feeling that you might be able to whittle down Son of MSHD's health if it's not careful though.

Yeah, I never was good at wedges. I need to learn how to make good ones.

Slimbody Motors for drive are bad. NPCs or Magmotors are your best bet. Sometimes E-Tek Drives as well.

8 vald spikes doesn't cut it on a hw shell spinner IMO.
4 30kg hammers on a hw rammer doesn't cut it at all, there are some mws that have the same amount of weapons.
So GF VS. Jonzu will be very boring IMO.

I did forget to mention mine has E-tek+Slimbody drive :P

Mines going to be quick. Either BLT is going to be flipped out or my bot is going to get juggled and die in 10 seconds. :P I'm voting the latter.

Heh thanks. I kinda feel bad though... I rushed that bot just before I left on vacation to meet the deadline.  I didn't really try to make it look like your bot much at all... I just stuck to the guidelines that GK set.  I can't believe how fragile OK blades are.  During testing, those blades would get lobbed off like crazy. 

My only hope is that the motor can get up to full speed, because it launches opponents quite nicely after a few moments to speed up.

I'm not sure how it'll go. GF's hammers look like 60kg's, while yours, mathematically, must be 30 kg's. He could take a couple of them off pretty easy, I think.

Minimus vs Stealth Destroyer:  my only hope is the wedge saving me or some great flanking. Prediction: Stealth Destroyer
 
Son of MSHD vs Hurricane: If Hurricane can sweep him to the side, he'll stand a chance.  But i think Prediction: Son of MSHD
 
Flipperazation vs Drumbayotch: I think the wedge war will be lost by Flipp, therefore Prediction: Drumbayotch
 
forgot the food vs Dr. Spin II: I'm rooting for FTF, So probably Prediction: Dr. Spin
 
2 vroom vs BLT:  2 vroom looks cool, (great job) but i think the power here lies in BLT Prediction: BLT
 
Renal Calculi vs Please Reenter Bot name: Both look well built.  But I think Renal will flip Please Reenter easily Prediction: Renal Calculi
 
Whiplash Recoil vs Wild Cube: Vengeance: I'm just gonna say Wild Cube, because i love the look Prediction: Wild Cube:Vengeance
 
OverOverkill vs Doom Donker:  saying "Donker" makes me laugh.  Overoverkill's best chance is to just not to touch Donker until count out.  Prediction: Doom Donker
 
Stilleto Violence vs Crown of Flaames: based on looks, Stilleto all the way.  But I think i see more power in Prediction: Crown of Flaames.
 
 
And everyone that got a bye is gonna lose :P
 
Now, reverse all my predictions because i'm always wrong.

Yeah, wedges are one of the reasons I'm a VS guy. VS need no wedges, but are destructive and a lotta fun.

its not ruled by wedges as much as stock I dont think.. plenty of robots can still kill without wedges it just takes the right strategies

but even real life wedges are big business.. getting under an opponent is always an advantage

At least partially my fault, Minimus seems to almost specialize in drawing matches out.  I've had more matches go to time with it than any other bot i've made.

I think it might be something to do with cumulative results, like if you lost both your matches 2-1, you'll rank higher than someone who lost both their matches 2-0.

But you're forgetting that even if you do outwedge me at the beginning, I've got good protection on the bottom, higher speed, and slightly better agility from my 4-wheel drive. As a result, I could manouver round to the side if possible (Minimus' turning might be a bit slow because of its rear 2-wheel drive), and then it's Hammer Time!

I know, but it was mainly losing to Jonzu* and not winning any of my six potential rounds that did it for me really. Maybe I'll improve it if there's another BTTB.

The major problem was the turn value. 40 fixed that. However, a turnspeed of 2.5 makes it sway while driving. I need to find a good balence between turning speed and the swaying.

generally when AIing (for future reference) you dont kill off the turn-speed then try and compensate with turn analog, all that's doing is turning more but slower. turning less amounts faster is better from my experience

On the topic of the videos: you're over-editing them IMO. There were match defining moments in your match with Somebody the you cut out. Please, unless the bots just circle one another, just show the entire match. It saves you editing time and it dosen't make me feel like I'm watching a highlight package :3

The next round is up. There is 'overediting' present in 1 match, but that was beause I filmed the matches before R0B0 informed me about the 'overediting'. All that happened in the matches was
There are also a few little jumps of a few seconds, which I faded in, because fraps kept going off at the wrong times.

lol ok.

and i agree there. though i think i shouldn't have gone for a wedge. the spinning disks lift the front a bit, making my wedge a big weak point. maybe i should make a newer version of Forgot The Food and make it like some fortress on wheels that somehow also does a little bit of damage.

I do that as well, but mine almost always suck, because if my robots hit walls or opponents with them, the wedges almost always flip themselves over.

Myself, the great Naryar and quadruple DSL champion, going 0-2 ? How pathetic.

I didn't even tested Aldebaran, just AI'ed a NAR AI v2.4 bot and sent it without even one fight to see if it was stable when AI-ed because I was rushed :P

I forgot how much linear SnS are a bitch to make stable - It happens nearly every single one i built. Epicenter, now this one...

Most likely he's referring to double-bar SnSes (at 180-degrees apart they make a 'line'). Disc SnS and SnS with multiple arms are much more stable.

Building skill =/= tournament success. Look at ItI.

Top DSL builders are the guys that not only are very good, but know most aspects of the game and innovate.

@G.K. Maybe there should be an allowance, in the sense that you take something like a 7-day ban for each day extra, but you must ask for.

For example, G.K. could say, I need another week, and gets a 49 day ban once the tourney is over. There can be a limit of 10 days, but there must be the host posting how many days he wants BEFORE the tournament ends, and he can't extend it. IF he doesn't post, the tourney is closed.
