Yay.
BroBots
- Stock LW
- All in-game and AI components allowed except cheatbot2.
- No custom components.
- No multibots.
- All building glitches allowed except BFE/AAM/Hax Mode.
- Combat Arena, hazards off.
- 1 free havok restart per match if it seems it affected the match's outcome in a substantial way.
- 8 entrants will each submit two Brother Robots, or BroBots, for a total of 16 bots. When the splash is posted, you will PM me with the name of the bot you want to use against each specific opposing team should you happen to face them. Two entrants may also submit one bot each to work as a team, but then one of them must be designated as the PM'er. I will randomly pick your bots for each match if you do not PM me with your desired matchups before I start filming (but I'll give a reasonable time frame of at least 72 hours or so). The bot decisions may be edited as the tournament goes on, but are not guaranteed to always go through depending on how short of notice they are changed.
- Submitted entries are final; no updates unless absolutely necessary. Both bots must be submitted at the same time.
- If after 30 days, the sign-ups are not filled, the tournament will start anyway and blank spots will be filled with free byes.
- Best 2 out of 3 Deathmatches, plus a Pity Rumble after the main bracket is done. Double elimination.
- The Pity Rumble will be between the 2 entrants who are knocked out of the tournament after the first two rounds, i.e. never win a match. Both of Loser 1's bots will face both of Loser 2's bots in a team rumble for a "loser's winner".
- Awards will include Tournament Winner, Pity Rumble Winner, Most Original, Coolest Looking, Favourite Match, Most Fearsome Brotherhood, and Unluckiest Brotherhood.
I will not be entering. I've always thought the idea of entering your own tournament was pretty weird. Basically what I was trying to aim at with this was to have a tournament where some strategy would also be involved. For example, if your opponent has entered a rammer and HS, and you have to choose between your VS and your hammer, you should probably go with the hammer.

Wait? A LW tourney with 1WD allowed?
YES!
-
oh god
entering, maybe.
-
I am entering this. =D
-
I'll enter with someone.
-
Anyone want to team up with me?
-
I'll enter with someone.
Oh lawdy you're putting in a person to fight robots? THEY COULD GET KILLED D:
I might look and see if I have 2 good LW's.
-
Sounds good guys. Mostly I was looking to see if anyone wanted a different weight class, but seems you like LW. Checkmark added.
Only 8 entries, so get your bots done early and ready for PMing!
Anyone want to team up with me?
Look at the post above you :P

I might enter Dark Void 2 and some crawler just to troll people even more.

OMG DO IT
-
Vote for this tournament you fools.
Also the rules have had a few tiny changes, but not much. I realized the Pity Rumble will actually only have two people in it in an 8-person double elimination bracket, and edited the awards.
Controlled movement and "cheaty AI" are both given rules, right? It doesn't seem like I'd have to include them up there, but if they do, someone tell me.
-
Damn, tis stock. If it was DSL i could have teamed up with LincK and we will have CRUSHED OUR ENEMIES, SEEN THEM DRIVEN BEFORE US AND HEAR THE LAMENTATION OF THEIR WOMEN.
-
Not going to join, as Stock LW is IMO one of the most mundane and unoriginal areas of building I know.

Mundane and unoriginal ? Try stock antweight.
I might join if I can find an original(-ish) idea.
-
AE2 will win this like all other stock LW tourneys :trollface

I'm honestly kinda given up on stock in most areas, since little expansion can REALLY occur. Definitely not going to enter.
-
Will be entering this.
-
I'll post my bots once signups are open. Can't AI still due to laptop broken.
-
This is now a signups topic
-
Bots sent :trollface
-
Can I just enter with the same bot and they can be twins?
-
But so they will be no reason to choose a bot before a match and your opponent will choose a counter bot
-
Can I just enter with the same bot and they can be twins?
That destroys the purpose of the tournament...
A one component difference does not constitute a different bot, by the way. There aren't really any exact parameters, but I can judge logically if two bots are considered "different" or not.
-
I was going to enter my 15 razor HS and my 9 mace HS. But that would have been overkill.
-
I have two ideas for bots, so I will most likely enter if I can find the time.
One includes an awful pun.

But it doesn't say otherwise. I mean what harm would it do?

Technically, there's nothing in the rules to stop you doing this. But when it comes to choosing a bot to face your opponent, you're effectively choosing from one robot. Thus the opponent's life is made infinitely easier. It defeats the entire objective of this tournament.

Touche, my never loaded friend.

4 spots remaining.
-
Half of signup time and entry spots remaining.
I'm losing faith.
-
I will be entering.
-
I'll see if I can make something for this. I was never one to make many Lightweights, but I'll try to make it work.
-
2 spots left!
Also, and I hope G.K. will let me do this, an extremely helpful modification to the rules occurred to me that just makes me feel stupid. Since most of you don't go on the forum every other day, rather than PM'ing me the bot you want to use for one match at a time, you can just do it all in one PM as soon as the splash is done. For example, if my bots were Tempus Fugit and Child's Play IV:
Team 1: Child's Play IV
Team 2: Tempus Fugit
...
Team 8: Tempus Fugit
It works because you should be able to choose one bot that has the best matchups against each team, no matter when you face them in the tournament, after you've seen them all in the splash.

I was going to do that anyway, I just assumed it would be OK. However, you should be allowed to change your picks later too, if for instance you see a bot fight and decide your other bot would actually be better against it.

PM'ing rules have been edited. Thanks Click.
-
NFX's bots accepted.
NOW THE FIGHT FOR THE LAST SPOT
-
Schweet. =D This should be pretty fun.
-
Naryar can have it. The only thing I can seem to make in a lightweight is very generic. I don't want to submit a rammer or spinner which don't work that well (at least not good enough for me to send in a tournament).
-
Hercules goes in for the kill!
Sign-ups are now closed.
-
Awesome. It'll be interesting to see who's entered what. Also inb4 S_M has a 1WD 9HS.
-
I can say that one of my bots was also my See No Evil Entry.
-
I thought that tournament used Hax Mode.
-
I don't even know how to use Hax mode.
-
Ah, I see. So that'll be fine, then. =)
-
S_M's so cheap with his 1WD lameness
