Title: Blood Brothers - Signups
Post by: Merrick on March 27, 2014, 08:34:23 PM
Hmm. There aren't any sign-up threads. Better fix this.

Despite knowing nothing about DSL-S, I'm going to host a DSL-S tournament.

Kind of like Two To Tango, I guess, only you make both robots yourself.

General Info

- DSL 2.1
- LW (2 x robots)
- Standard DSL building rules. Realistic rule applies.
- 16 entries.
- You must enter two lightweight robots as a tag team, under a team name. Bonus points if they're thematically linked.

ENTRIES
1 - Mazakari
2 - S.H.I.E.L.D
3 - Kurt Wylde
4 - Elementos
5 - qwertythe300th
6 - Craaig
7 - RFS
8 -  S.T.C
9 - lloopp D lloopp
10 - TommyProductionsInc
11 -  El Chickenado
12 -
13 -
14 -
15 -
16 -

Green = AI'd.
Orange = Accepted.
Red = u dun goofed boyo

Looks pretty good to me. Are you running it with one immobilization gets the win or both?
Also rulewise I know you put the etc but you might want to clarify just so people can't say they don't know what etc covers and intentionally submitting something that would violate your 'etc' :P

Forgot to clarify, yes, both robots must be immobilized for the win.

And I'll clarify the etc now.  :dumb)

I just looked at those bots. Seriously? You could've at least TRIED to build some DSL-S bots instead of that!
The way to get better at DSL-S is to TRY building it and improve, not just give up. It's not like IRL, it takes effort to get good at it.
I don't think I've ever seen less funny joke bots.

Apologies.

Yes, I will be working on this. I've been very busy with work lately, but rest assured I am not Jonzu, and will try my best to get this done.

As an update, I have now recieved and accepted robots from qwerty, Craaig, Tommy, El Chickenado, and Elementos.

Although those of you who've entered IRL bots, I would highly recommend an update sent to ensure you don't get laughed at by everybody.

Kurt Wylde accepted.

How's the signups list so far seeing as this ends tomorrow?

If I get one more entry I can bash together a makeshift bracket for this.

I must admit, since starting the discussion for this, my own interest in it has dwindled substantially. I'm not sure if it's laziness or just a by-product of working full-time again, but I'll bash through it when I can in order to avoid being docked tournaments points or whatever it is.

If you are going to just let this fail can you at least send me the bots so I could do the videos.

Irresponsible would be a word I'd use for more important real life decisions, but ok, if you wanna use it to describe losing interest in a 10 year old game's online tournament, go for it.

I'm just annoyed that people started crying everytime a new IRL/Robot Wars style tournament popped up, but as soon as I started a DSL-S one like people want, it doesn't even fill after 2 months, whereas RedAce's new IRL tournament for a weightclass that nobody even builds got filled in a day.

I'll get bash out the videos in the next couple of days, as I'm not at work until Wednesday. Was hoping to get some useful stuff done in that time, but apparently I'm irresponsible.

Don't sh**post in your own tournament thread, mmkay ?

If you want another additional entry I'll whip up something but getting all passive-agressive at a mod who is merely trying to make a tournament move forward is pretty bad form in there.

It is irresponsible in the eyes of the community to tell "hey i'll make a tournament", then not deliver. (And yes, I know, I did that). Maybe not in your own eyes, but it doesn't matter.

Your gripes may be legit but no need to go attack someone completely unrelated over it.

If you want to abandon that then say it... or continue the tournament forward.

It kind of does matter though. If you start a tourny, it's expected that you actually go through with it instead of bailing out last minute, that's just seen as a waste of time. Why would you host a tourney if you know you have more important things to do?

Also, you are in no position to complain about "muh number of entries" when there have been successful tournies with FOUR whole entries. Example being most of Lightning S' tournaments.

Such 'having a go'. I called you irresponsible for starting something and then not following through on it. So in the eyes of the community, yes, that is irresponsible. Starting a tournament is something, a responsibility if you will, that you take onto yourself. You chose to do it. So don't get angry at me when I call you out for not following through on it.
09 gave you a getout option. If you're that busy, take it.
