Title: Blades of Fury-Signups*

1. DSL MW (no more than 398.8 KG), IRL Realism rules apply. I will check all bots to see if they fit.
1.1 Multibots not allowed.
1.2 "Ring Spinners" are legal as long as nothing but the drive intersects the disc.
1.3 all wedges are OK, but if I think you are violating the spirit of the competition, your bot will be banned.
1.4 I will be running JoeBlo's "Narmour Be Gone" patch for this competition.
1.5 No Cheatbot2 or custom parts, I will accept skinned parts however

2. Matches will have a 3 minute time limit and will be held in the BattleBox 2.0 (HellRaisers off)
2.1 All matches are one fight.

3.  Walkers/Shufflers get a 200KG weight bonus, but must spend at least  200kg on the walking system (AKA something that does not use wheels or  weapons as a means of propulsion).
3.1 Treaded bots get a 60kg weight cushion.

4.  A havok will result in a restart. If the bot Havoks again, the bot will  be disqualified from the match. If the same bot gets another Havok DQ  in a later match, the robot will be disqualified from the tournament  (don't expose your motors).
4.1 If your bot is counted out and is  still able to move, the match will be re-started. (If the bot has at least 2 wheels and more than half battery power and is invertible)

5. No crawlers, popups, jugglers or other bot types that do not exist in real life.
5.1 No unrealistic weapon sizes/quantities
5.2 Bots must show controlled movement


6. No limit on entries, but up to 3 per person please.

7.  The tournament will be run ARC style (Robots are divided into groups,  where they fight all the other bots in the group in a Round Robin style  bracket, 1-on-1. The best win/loss record of each group advances into a  bracket. Those bots square off in a single elimination 1-on-1 bracket  to decide the champion.)

8. No BFE/AAM, in-game REALISTIC glitches allowed

9.  As in Replica Wars, I will judge the bots based on Aggression,  Damage,  and Strategy. My definition of Strategy is basically  controlling the  fight, beating the other guy etc.
I will be entering, but I will be fair in judging situations.

10. All competitors must have a good time, no bitching about the AI.

11. Updates are infinite until the splash is posted.

Now that I know it's OK, does anyone want to help film?

As I've stated before, I'm not gonna have a lot of time this year, and I don't want to end up running out of time.

So I will accept 9 people to help me film. If you sign up, you must film one of the round-robin heats. This is 28 matches BTW, a little more than a single-elimination 32 bot tourney. When your are done, just send me the footage. Try to rename the files to they denote which bots are fighting please, it will make things 90 times easier for me. I will upload everything and give credit to the filmer that did the heat.

In all seriousness though... Do you anticipate things going smoothly?  When you get all the bots situated in game, it might not be a bad idea to back them up on a pocket drive to put on your brothers compy in case of an emergency.  Just an idea.

This bot is interanally the same as Jury Duty, with the same armour. I personally feel this one os a bit more powerful aswell as looking a atleast 20% cooler.

Made a spinner called "what is ai who is acams" for the lulz. I've screwed the wiring up bad but's it's good combatwise.

Uh... I hope you know what you're doing because with no entry limit, 3 bots per person, and a whole month to send in entries, you could easily get over 200 bots.  I'm only keeping Ironbot signups open for one week specifically so I don't get that many.

I can only guess it's a different component location in the folder. My first guess would be the air tank, since the orange CB in NAR AI turns into the blue one in DSL.

Right, it must have been the batteries that caused Halitosis to crash (I stupidly named both the normal ant Battery and the hacked Present Of Doom ant battery "Ant Battery"), so I took the innards out, rebuilt it in Standard DSL, and it should now be fine. As such, Bandik has been PMbomb'd. =D

It may be that your component directories or file names don't match up with Badnik's. That's happened with me a couple of times in other tournaments.

The one bot I thought was going to be fine has all the problems. I've tried it on anoher computer w/o smartzone and it's fine, apart from the fact the the snowplow and half the skirt hinge vanishes sometimes.

That sometimes happens in certain arenas, Poly skirts and extenders have a tendency to disappear when they go through lighting meshes.

Sounds like AGOD to me. Try removing the skirt hinge and reattaching it, see if that helps.

Yeah, Hot shpwed up like that first with the plow gone, then it havoked. I re-imported it to see if it fixed anything and it crashed.

Also I have an IRL version of Undertaker I'm going to enter.  Just need to get the files together and make one little change with the AI.  (That AI I wrote for the Lucky 7 tournament is finally going to pay off!  :mrgreen: )

Walker is simply a bot that simulates movement via legs, as it's name indicates. Crawlers, even those without weapons, are not walkers.

Probably going to lose quickly. Not only the weapons face the wrong way, barely doing any damage by clamping, but IIRC the exposed linear actuators have only 400 HP.

Not sure if I can... My parents laid the rules down, half hour a day for the computer on weekdays when school starts (AKA 2 weeks from now). Between the weekends and vacations, I should have enough time (when I can I'll upload as many fights as possible, its 28 fights per heat) but I'm not gonna put every fight on GTM, I'll just post a link to my channel and when I update it I will post. But I got a lot of stuff going on this week. I have a year, and I expect if I can get 7 fights uploaded per week I'll be fine. If it's allowed, I'd like to send the AI to one or two people to help me film, as I don't want to let you guys down with this and I want to keep it exciting.

Also only 3 days left. If you want to enter (Thyrus, VB, Robo, Nar, Ash, etc.) do it faster.

Not with RA2 mechanics, unless you want it to be a bit wobbly.

Well with 2 burst motors (one attached by an extender to the other) you can mimic it (and it'd be original)

I did try that in stock not too long ago (Not a flipper but a pusher style thingy-ma-bob) and it seems pretty effective (wedges sucked though).

Im going to go try it in DSL now, need to try and get a fairly decent chassis wedge for it to work though.

One of my entries is cannon fodder, so if you get that you'll do pretty well.

They're all guitar themed, which is cool.

I have a trio of bots that all use the same chassis and 2 of the 3 use DSL Bars + 4 Beater Bars as Weapons.


The third bot is a a Drumbot (But no actual drum, all Beater Bars) which uses 10 Medium Beater Bars (I think).


The Two that use the DSL Bars are pretty unstable and as soon as one of the Beater Bars is lost it becomes VERY unstable.

When you say "stops working", I imagine you'll have done something to the files, because I've had my copies of RA2 for about two years now, and the only times they're stopped working is when I've given a robot a defective Bindings line. Re-check them all and see if you've got all the necessary AI.py files, and you've gotten every value, comma, bracket and space correctly. If there's nothing else wrong, try removing the last few bots you got and see if it works then.

All I've done to the BoF file is add bots to the Robot Designs folder and AI them (everything works and havent ai'ed anything for a couple of weeks)

I did nothing to the fresh DSL I tried when someone suggested to reinstall besides extracting it

and all the AI I've done to the Stock file I tried works (I've tested it all, the last I did was last night and it all worked)

Does anyone have a solution? Please? I need this ;-;
