Beetle Bashers 3 - Signups Closed
« on: May 04, 2015, 02:56:49 PM »

After the long hiatus from putting Robots in Space 2 on a temporary hiatus, I decided that I should go back to Beetle Bashers seeing as it's one year anniversary is coming up. Why am I doing this? Well, I feel I want to host this quick little tournament over the summer and I notice there is barely any standalone Beetleweight tournaments for stock. Let's fix that, shall we?

GENERAL RULES:
- Stock Beetleweight
- 12 or 13 Entrants (See battle rules)
- One entrant per person max
- I'm willing to AI if you are not able to, but don't complain what I AI'd your bot (It will not change once the SBV thread is up.)
- You cannot enter unless your bot is received and accepted.
- Entries MUST be sent in a PM. (Tutorial here.)
- I will only enter if there is at least one empty spot when signups close.
- The winners of Beetle Bashers 2 are allowed to send one extra bot each.

BUILDING RULES:
- General stock rules apply
- Beetleweight bots only (Minimum: 169.0 - Maximum: 175.0 kg)
- You cannot use BFE, AAM, Hax, txt file editing, etc.
- AI parts are allowed, including the 140 cm extender.
- No cheatbot2 parts at all.
- The only custom components that are allowed are from 090901's and/or Sage's Skin Pack and Madiaba's Smart Zones.
- Smart Zones will not count toward weight, but you cannot use them to act as a ballast
- Bots can have at least One wheel, but all bots must show controlled movement.
- Crawlers are allowed if you can actually get them to work.
- Interchangeable weapons and forms along with Multibots are banned.
- I will only allow bots that are the best of your ability, so Jokebots, replicas, IRL style bots, etc. are not allowed. (Please make it more clear this time.)
- You can a MINOR change as many times as you wish as long as it doesn't change very much of the bot overall, so make it clear that it's a minor change. (Like changing the Razors on your HS to Irons)
- Once your bot is accepted, you can only send a MAJOR update it ONCE (Like completely changing your entry from HS to Popup), so be careful. (This rule will not apply to bots that have a problem or are rejected. If the updated bot is not allowed or having an issue, the first bot which has been accepted will stay until a fix is sent.)

MATCH RULES:
- 2 minute length battles
- 1 vs. 1 Battle Format
- Best of 3 Rounds
- Battles will take place in the Clash Cubes 3 Qualifying Arena (Reskinned)
- In the event that there is less than 12 entrants, A BW SFTW will take any empty spots once signups officially close.
- If a bot does a Havok Explosion which costs the match for it's opponent, that said bot will get a free restart, if this happens again, that bot will be disqualified.
- I will give an extra 48 Hours when I get 12 bots for one more person who wants to enter. (Including Myself)
- If I happen to get a 13th entrant, then the last two bots that have entered will duke it out in a wildcard bout to see who gets the last spot in the official tournament.
- The Qualifiers will consist of 4 Round Robin matchups with 3 bots in each. The winner of their respected round robin bracket will advance to Eliminators.
- The Eliminators will be a Double Elimination bracket consisting of the winners of the qualifiers.

My (Possible) Entry:

Byebot:

Two bots maximum. I realized I made a typo that made no sense. Whoops. I fixed it though.

Been thinking about a date when I can officially open signups lately. I'm thinking somewhere around June 7th or maybe later depending on the things I've gotta take care of during my summer break. It may change to sooner or later than that. Any objections?

Okay, thought about this for the past few days, but I have a couple announcements regarding the tournament rules. I noticed that if I do get less than the set amount of entrants, I will be left with open spots and the tournament won't work as well as it should with the round robin battles. So here's the announcment: why not make the Byebot the famous SFTW? Okay, before anyone says that's overpowered since a beetleweight against a lightweight, but here's the good news about it. For one thing, SFTW is a badly made LW and you can make a good BW to beat it. You have have to purposefully try to make a terrible bot to actually lose to it. Another thing, this also corresponds with the minimal effort rule as if you can beat SFTW, you've made a bot with enough effort to do good. Lastly, If you don't want this to happen and I don't want to remove it completely, so I thought this could settle both crowds and it gives you a reason to enter so SFTW doesn't fill up space.  This might not work out so well, but I want to hear your opinion on it.

Make a beetleweight SFTW
How you make Alarm Clock Pizza is:
Step 1: You buy an alarm clock from the store, and then you have to break it and put it in the sauce.
Step 2: Fold the sauce in 5 slices and put it in the dough.
Step 3: Paint the eggs with a pitcher of a clock showing what time you want to wake up and eat pizza for breakfast.
Step 4: Put the eggs in the dough.
Step 5: Make it flat into a round shape and draw the time you want on it.
Step 6: Put some old steel to prevent other peple from stealing it.
Step 7: Make it flat and cut into 60 slices 1 for each minute in 1 our.
Step 8: Put in the oven set the timer to 30048813.2884 seconds and put the temperature on 'Volcano' setting.
Step 9: If you think it is take to long, then get yor alarm clock and set it to now so that it will ring and you can take it out.
Step 10: Take it out uv the uvin wen it is redy and go to bed. In the morning eat pizza and also eat yor hands bi mistake.

Actually, that isn't a bad idea either. Made that and it's the new Bye-Bot.

Also, While the deadline is coming by, I might not ask Craaig on that date cause of a load of things I gotta take care of before college. I will not let this die, but if don't contact Craaig on the date I planned on, you'll know why.

Well, tomorrow is the day that I planned to open signups for this tournament. I think I can squeeze this with my summer plans, but before I open signups, is there any rules that need changes?

I think I've covered everything to avoid confusion. If you have any questions, comments, interest, or any form of criticism, please let me know. I promise I won't bite.

This is now a signups topic and the rules above may not change. You have 9 months to complete the tournament. Enjoy! :D

Thanks once again Craaig. So with that in mind...

Signups are open for grabs!

I'm not announcing a deadline yet, but let's hope I don't need to make an official one.

Well I am not going to make people enter if they don't wish to. I would, however, like people to actually do more entering than arguing.

Edit: And I just got my first entrant as soon as I post this.
