Latest update: finals, rumble, and champions' rumble.
For every BBEANS so far, I've posted a synopsis of each fight here so you can know what happened without having to download all the videos. I'm still doing something similar, but it will be slightly different. Instead of describing each fight in detail (and therefore spoiling everything if you haven't seen the videos), I will make some vague comments to give you an idea of what happens without necessarily spoiling anything.
I also put a rating after each fight on a five-star scale, 5 being championship-worthy material and 1 being akin to two BrasOuverts fighting each other. So now you know which fights are must-sees and which ones you can pass on if you want, all without spoiling anything for yourself.
Of course, if you want to find out who won without watching the video, I have written the final results in white text below each fight description. To view the spoilers, just highlight it.
Thanks again to Firebeetle for the excellent background music!
Highlights:
--RUMBLES--
SurgicalStrike vs. Vela vs. Big Flip's Revenge vs. Trojan Horse ***
Nothing especially spectacular happens here, but there's plenty of the backstabbing you come to expect from four-way brawls, and it's never boring with four of the best heavyweights in BBEANS all fighting at once, even with lag (which there is quite a lot of).
Vela wins with 1 KO; SurgicalStrike also gets 1 KO.
Copyright Infringement vs. 45-70 Magnum vs. PitA 8 vs. BBEANS5 Champion ****
SPOILER ALERT: Obviously, since the BBEANS5 Champion is in this rumble, you should watch the finals first if you don't want anything spoiled.
These bots are all champions, but one of them will prove itself to be the champion of champions. With that caliber of competition in the arena, you expect a good fight, and this one does not disappoint. No bot will emerge from the fray unscathed; it's just a matter of who will be most able to endure the scathing these bots will dish out to each other. And it's going to be close: I can safely tell you that the winner is just one chassis hit away from death when the match ends.
Copyright Infringement wins with 1 KO; BBEANS5 Champion also gets 1 KO.
--FINALS--
Seism 13 vs. R4 *****
It all comes down to a battle of wedges, and fortunately, this fight is unlike most other such battles. There are twists, turns, and unexpected reversals amongst some truly impressive blows--all in all, a struggle worthy of the finals.
Fight 1 - R4 wins 2-1 with 2 KO's; Seism 13 gets 1 KO.
Fight 2 - Seism 13 wins 2-1 with 2 KO's; R4 gets 1 KO.
--SEMIFINALS--
Copyright Infringement vs. Seism 13 ****
In less than 2 minutes, one of these bots will go on to the finals. Will it be MikeNCR, the former champion already well on his way to claiming a second title? Or will it be Firebeetle, whose fearsome popup has utterly dominated horizontal spinner after horizontal spinner? Based on Seism 13's track record, Copyright Infringement seems to be at a disadvantage (major understatement there), although there is one factor unaccounted for: all of Seism 13's previous opponents have been 36-mace spinners. While mace spinners may be better against other horizontal spinners, it's a well-known fact that iron spike/razor tip spinners are better against wedges, as Copyright Infringement showed with its fight versus R4 (although AI also played a not inconsiderable part in that fight). Copyright Infringement is still at a disadvantage, what with having to break through Seism 13's 5 ram plates and all, but perhaps it is not as great a disadvantage as you think.
Seism 13 wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
--Loser's Bracket--
REMATCH: R4 vs. Copyright Infringement ****
The winner of this fight will go on to face Seism 13 in the grand finals: either Copyright Infringement will get a rematch against the first bot to defeat MikeNCR in BBEANS, or Seism 13 will finally face another popup where its adjustable wedges may be necessary. Copyright Infringement defeated R4 quite handily in the quarterfinals, but that was when R4's AI was working at less than optimum potential. It's since been upgraded, but will it be enough to turn around R4's previous loss? AI wasn't the only reason it lost, after all. Or was it?
R4 wins 3-0 with 3 KO's. All of them in one hit. I do believe R0B0SH4RK now holds the record for fastest match time in BBEANS.
--QUARTERFINALS--
R4 vs. Copyright Infringement ***
Considering the power behind these bots, this match is disappointingly long and uneventful. There's still no shortage of flips and parts flying around, but you'll have to wait to find out who eventually wins. I'll say one thing: I was expecting R4 to utterly dominate this fight, but it turns out these bots are surprisingly evenly matched, and the fight could have gone either way.
Copyright Infringement wins 2-1 with 2 KO's; R4 gets 1 TKO. FYI R0B0, my offer to change R4 to Popup AI still stands...
Seism 13 vs. Shadow Tyrant ***
With its all-encompassing frontal wedge, Shadow Tyrant doesn't much care which way Seism 13 adjusts its wedges, and so the fight becomes an ordinary battle of wedginess, may the wedgiest wedge win. Provided, of course, that no one makes any serious driving errors...
Seism 13 wins 3-0 with 3 KO's. I don't know what's up with Shadow Tyrant's driving in round 2 and 3. It's not anything to do with the AI; I double checked the Bindings to make sure. Just random chance and bad luck I guess.
--Loser's Bracket--
REMATCH: R4 vs. SurgicalStrike ****
R4 may have won 3-0 the last time these two bots tangled, but it didn't get under SurgicalStrike every time: one of R4's KO's was scored while it was upside-down and trying to self right. If SurgicalStrike can get under R4 again, it has a very real chance of getting its revenge here--really, what are the chances that R4 would KO it with a self right attempt again? And as if that wasn't enough to make R0B0SH4RK a little nervous, remember that: 1) Every BBEANS so far has been won by a rookie. And, 2) R1885 is the last rookie in the tournament.
R4 wins 2-1 with 2 KO's; SurgicalStrike gets 1 KO.
--ROUND 9--
Absolute Chaos vs. R4 ***
A very short and sweet match, possibly the fastest one so far. R0B0SH4RK claims that R4 is designed to take out bots like Absolute Chaos, but after his close loss to Copyright Infringement, it's looking doubtful that this will prove to be anything but bluster. However, R4's switch from Omni to Popup AI may make a difference here, as well as Absolute Chaos's more exposed weapon motors. On the other hand, R4 isn't going to be flipping the invertible Absolute Chaos and letting it get immobile like it did with Copyright Infringement.
R4 wins 2-1 with 1 KO and 1 TKO; Absolute Chaos gets 1 KO.
SurgicalStrike vs. Shadow Tyrant ***
Another very fast match, with the result depending on who gets under who. Regular small wedges tend to be better than Emergency wedges overall, but we know that Shadow Tyrant's wedges are on about equal footing with Seism 13, and Seism 13 has good wedges. SurgicalStrike is no slouch when it comes to wedges either though, so this fight is bound to be a close one. Just so long as Shadow Tyrant doesn't make any of the same driving mistakes it did against Seism 13.
SurgicalStrike wins 2-1 with 2 KO's; Shadow Tyrant gets 1 KO.
--ROUND 8--
T-800 Terminator vs. Absolute Chaos ***
Is a row of four weapon-breaking ram plates and 2 razor tips enough for T-800 to overcome Absolute Chaos's extra 9 maces? I don't think so, but I didn't think T-800 could beat Bumble Bee either, so let's not write off Starcore until we see the video. That is, if you can see anything at all through the mounds of maces coating the arena floor... I have never seen so many maces scattered over the arena. Almost 63 total!
Absolute Chaos wins 3-0 with 1 KO, 1 TKO, and 1 WBP.
Trojan Horse vs. SurgicalStrike ***
Insult to Injury's wins may have been more shocking, but Pwnator is making a good run for Best Rookie himself. (So is R1885 for that matter, but I don't really think of him as a rookie since he's been around a long time.) Trojan Horse has already proved against Cocytus IV that dual-wedged bots aren't necessarily an automatic loss for TH, so while this fight will still come down to who has the better wedge, don't assume that wedge placement will decide the outcome.
SurgicalStrike wins 2-1 with 2 KO's; Trojan Horse gets 1 KO.
--ROUND 7--
--Loser's Bracket--
T-800 Terminator vs. Death Dealer *****
When two powerful horizontal spinners clash, you know something is bound to happen. Usually, that's just a lot of maces and iron spikes slowly breaking off until one bot runs out and the other one wins. Not here. Oh, there's plenty of maces and iron spikes flying around (as well as a few wheels and ram plates), but don't think for a minute that this will be a simple war of attrition. One of the best fights of the tournament so far--it's so good, I couldn't bear to cut it down to 5 minutes long, so I left on an extra minute of footage. (It's still heavily cut and edited, though; the full length would have been easily over 10 minutes. HS on HS battles are laggy.)
T-800 Terminator wins 2-1 with 1 KO and 1 WBP; Death Dealer gets 1 TKO.
REMATCH: Big Flip's Revenge vs. Absolute Chaos ***
Big Flip's Revenge has already lost once to Absolute Chaos, which, being a horizontal spinner, is one of the very few bots that seems capable of surviving BFR's deadly tag-team tactics. The Big Flips are not necessarily doomed, however: they flipped Absolute Chaos out of the arena in one of their fights, and almost won another before a Havok explosion required a restart. And with a name containing the word "Revenge", the Big Flips seem to stand a good chance here. This match is over before you know it.
Absolute Chaos wins 3-0 with 6 KO's.
Trojan Horse vs. Cocytus IV *****
Now this is a 5-star battle! I've been waiting for something just like this before giving out the big 5. One of these bots will get under the other at the beginning of this fight, but that's only the beginning. Surprise after surprise occurs as first one bot, then the other gains the upper hand, even after you think there's no possible way for a comeback to happen. Dare I say it's better than Red, Red, Green? vs. Hazardous Contraption from BBEANS4?
Trojan Horse wins 2-1 with 2 KO's; Cocytus IV gets 1 KO.
Vela vs. SurgicalStrike ***
SurgicalStrike had better live up to its name, because that chassis on Vela is an absurdly small target. Deviate just a little in any direction, and SurgicalStrike will just end up eating maces. Not many surprises here, but it's fast and these bots are delivering some big hits that are worth seeing.
SurgicalStrike wins 2-1 with 2 KO's; Vela gets 1 KO.
--ROUND 6--
--Loser's Bracket--
T-800 Terminator vs. Bumble Bee ****
There are but two ways to beat Bumble Bee: flip it out of the arena, or survive long enough to let the arena flippers do it for you. The first option is clearly out for T-800 Terminator, so the fight all comes down to how fast Bumble Bee can rip through all of T-800's defenses. Let me tell you, this is a CLOSE one--if the fights were even as little as 5 seconds shorter or longer, there could have been drastically different results.
T-800 Terminator wins 2-1 with 2 TKO's; Bumble Bee gets 1 KO.
Big Flip's Revenge vs. No Hype 5 ***
Trojan Horse couldn't do it. Bounty Hunter couldn't do it. What chance does No Hype 5 have against the deadly popup duo? Not much, but bots have gotten lucky before. Although with the amount of friendly fire passing between the two Big Flips, No Hype may not need it...
Big Flip's Revenge wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
Insult to Injury V vs. Trojan Horse ****
After thoroughly humbling Cardiac Arrest, Mace in da face, and PitA 8, the aptly-named Insult to Injury is quickly gaining notoriety as an unpredictable dark horse. But now the dark horse is coming up against another kind of horse--a Trojan Horse. (Isn't horse fighting illegal or something?) If Insult to Injury can get under PitA, it can certainly get under Trojan Horse, but when you're dealing with the kind of luck Insult to Injury has, anything can--and does--happen. This fight is very close to being worthy of 5 stars.
Trojan Horse wins 2-1 with 2 KO's; Insult to Injury V gets 1 KO.
Crawl Through Knives v4.2 vs. Vela ****
Vela's strange propensity to climb on top of its opponents was a major boon against Spearhead and the black plague, but here it may prove to be a disadvantage, because the one place you don't want to be on Crawl Through Knives is on top of it. All Crawl Through Knives has to do to Vela is keep it there to chew away at its vulnerable underside. Easier said than done, though... this fight isn't going to end without a whole lot of damage being dealt first.
Vela wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
--ROUND 5--
--Loser's Bracket--
T-800 Terminator vs. Hellbringer ***
The only way Hellbringer can do serious damage to T-800 Terminator is to get under it--T-800 just plain outweapons Hellbringer. This strategy worked against Anti-Christ V.Pincer, but there's no denying that T-800 is a better built bot. Plenty of damage being dealt here, but you gotta be patient because it happens slowly.
T-800 Terminator wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
Bumble Bee vs. 45-70 Magnum ****
45-70 Magnum is rather slow, but aside from that small fact, it's the perfect bot to beat Bumble Bee with. It's durable, it has lots of weapons, and it has a row of upper spikes to shove Bumble Bee with and keep it off of Magnum's top. With 4WD, 45-70 Magnum could probably shove Bumble Bee out of the arena quite easily, but as it is it will probably have to rely more on the arena flippers to do the job. This fight has both large-scale destruction and some impressive air time off the flippers.
Bumble Bee wins 2-1 with 2 KO's; 45-70 Magnum gets 1 TKO.
Big Flip's Revenge vs. Bounty Hunter ***
Another big-bot-versus-two-little-popups fight. So far in this tournament, no bot has been fast enough to KO one of the Big Flips before the other one gets in its rear, but with its 4WD and heavy armor, perhaps Bounty Hunter has what it takes to kill a Big Flip, turn around, and get under the second one. If not, Pyscolone is going to wish he had a bit more extra weight for back armor.
Big Flip's Revenge wins 3-0 with 3 KO's; Bounty Hunter gets 2 KO's.
Revenge Of Dr. Wham vs. No Hype 5 ****
No Hype 5 is far less powerful than Revenge Of Dr. Wham, but if it can just get under Dr. Wham, that's not going to matter because Dr. Wham won't be able to hit it. In terms of getting under, No Hype 5 has the advantage with 4WD. On the other hand, Dr. Wham has a much greater chance of self-righting and recovering if No Hype gets under it, while if Dr. Wham gets under No Hype, it's definitely not coming back.
No Hype 5 wins 2-1 with 2 KO's; Revenge Of Dr. Wham gets 1 KO.
Insult to Injury V vs. PitA 8 ****
A couple weeks ago, I wouldn't have thought twice before declaring PitA 8 the winner of this fight. After Insult to Injury's shocking defeat of Mace in da face, however, this is one bot I'm not inclined to underestimate again. Granted, I don't see how Insult to Injury could possibly get under PitA's wedges, especially after it lost to Bounty Hunter, but somehow I wouldn't be surprised if it did happen.
Insult to Injury V wins 2-1 with 2 KO's; PitA 8 gets 1 KO.
Wait, what? That did NOT just happen... did it? Let me try again...
Insult to Injury V wins 2-1 with 2 KO's; PitA 8 gets 1 KO.
Yup, I guess it DID happen. Wow. I have no idea how ItI pulled that off with just a chassis wedge.
Trojan Horse vs. The Emancipator ***
Another fight that's almost entirely based on who gets under the other bot first. In theory, The Emancipator should get under Trojan Horse most of the time with its widely spaced dual wedges. However, that might be harder to do in practice with The Emancipator's weapons spinning and possibly upsetting the bot's balance. This fight could go either way.
Trojan Horse wins 2-1 with 2 TKO's; The Emancipator gets 1 KO.
Oscillation Overthruster vs. Crawl Through Knives v4.2 ***
Crawl Through Knives almost beat Death Dealer, so Oscillation Overthruster should be a piece of cake. Right? On the other hand, OO has very light weapons, which means they spin very fast, which might make it harder to scoop up. Let's just say that one of these bots is going to be stripped down to nearly a bare chassis.
Crawl Through Knives v4.2 wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
Vela vs. the black plague ****
Normally, fights between two horizontal spinners, while filled with destruction, are slow and get boring. Not in this case. The damage comes fast and furious, and ends with one bot reduced to little more than a tiny battery box.
Vela wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
--ROUND 4--
--Winner's Bracket--
SurgicalStrike vs. R4 ****
Another popup battle, and as always, the winner comes down to who has the better wedge, regardless of the interesting fact that R4 has a ludicrous number of razor tips while SurgicalStrike has an equally ludicrous number of burst motors. However, there is at least one surprise ending in this fight, so don't write off either bot as dead if it happens to be flipped upside-down...
R4 wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
Copyright Infringement vs. Cocytus IV ****
If this isn't the most violent match so far in BBEANS5, then it certainly comes close. Both bots take turns ripping each other to shreds, and you can never tell which bot will finally break down first until just before the killing blow is dealt. The last round is especially destructive.
Copyright Infringement wins 2-1 with 2 KO's; Cocytus IV gets 1 KO.
Seism 13 vs. Absolute Chaos ****
The other two 36-mace spinners in this tournament are both down - can Seism 13 go 3 for 3 with a 3-0 win against the granddaddy of them all? One thing is for certain: this is going to be an intense, edge-of-your-seat match.
Seism 13 wins 2-1 with 2 TKO's; Absolute Chaos gets 1 KO.
Shadow Tyrant vs. Death Dealer ***
Aside from an annoyingly shaky camera caused by Havok in the first round, this is a good, if not quite spectacular, fight. Lots of death is dealt, though there are not too many surprises here.
Shadow Tyrant wins 2-1 with 1 KO and 1 TKO; Death Dealer gets 1 KO.
--Loser's Bracket--
Mjorhmei vs. T-800 Terminator ***
Mjorhmei may not look like it can stand up to a well-built horizontal spinner like T-800 Terminator, but remember, its loss to Death Dealer was only 1-2... if it can flip Death Dealer out of the arena once, there is a very real possibility that it could do it once more against T-800. As in the fight against Death Dealer, however, Mjorhmei will need to act fast before T-800 rips through all its armor.
T-800 Terminator wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
Vetearn Destroyer vs. Bumble Bee ***
Vetearn Destroyer's hammer will have about as much effect as a cup of water on the sun in this fight. The rest of the bot, however, may have a chance at doing something. As one of the surpisingly few four-wheel drive, non-wedge bots in the tournament, if any bot is capable of bumping the Bumble over the walls for a win by TKO, it's Vetearn Destroyer.
Bumble Bee wins 2-1 with 1 KO and 1 WBP; Vetearn Destroyer gets 1 TKO.
Big Flip's Revenge vs. Three Kings ***
Horizontal spinners are normally difficult opponents for multibots to take on, but Three Kings has a weakness most other horizontal spinners don't: the back. A couple of hits there, and it won't matter how much damage Three Kings is doing from the front. Of course, with the momentum of the weapons twisting it about, don't expect Three Kings to stay facing the same direction very long.
Big Flip's Revenge wins 3-0 with 2 KO's. (The other win was a Havok forfeit.)
Heaven's Sawmill vs. Revenge Of Dr. Wham ***
Whoever can get under the other bot first is most likely to win this. Unless Dr. Wham can one-hit kill Heaven's Sawmill, though, it will have to deal with the Sawmill's deadly out-of-control tumbling, while if Heaven's Sawmill fails to one-hit kill Dr. Wham, there's still not much Dr. Wham can do while it's being juggled a meter or two in the air.
Revenge Of Dr. Wham wins 2-1 with 2 KO's; Heaven's Sawmill gets 1 KO.
Mace in da face vs. Insult to Injury V ***
Exposed chassis. Slow drive. Few weapons. The only thing Insult to Injury has going for it is the wedge shape and its flipping power, and it will take a miracle for that to be enough to beat Mace in da face.
Insult to Injury V wins 2-1 with 2 TKO's; Mace in da face gets 1 KO.
Do Geese See God? / I Did Roll, or Did I? vs. Trojan Horse ***
Trojan Horse didn't fare so well against Big Flip's Revenge in round 1, but now that there's only one popup and a rather unreliable rammer to deal with instead of two popups, perhaps it has a chance. As long as the AI stays focused on one bot at a time and doesn't become too confused with both bots near...
Trojan Horse wins 2-1 with 4 KO's; Do Geese See God? / I Did Roll, or Did I? gets 1 TKO.
Gut Ripper 2 vs. Oscillation Overthruster ***
Oscillation Overthruster out-weapons Gut Ripper 2, and there's no way around it this time like there was against gears your lever. Gut Ripper will need to hit OO's extenders while protecting its own in order to win, which is admittedly a long shot.
Oscillation Overthruster wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
Spearhead vs. Vela **
UGH. This has got to be the laggiest match yet. Especially in the third round--the FPS was consistently in the single digits. What would otherwise be a fairly entertaining fight is somewhat more boring when you have to watch it all in slow motion. Also, it's weird how both of these bots have two snow plows, Slipperbottom wheels, and the exact same skin (which also happens to be a green version of Bumble Bee's skin), but totally opposite weapon systems. Will the mace spinner prevail, or the iron spike rammer?
Vela wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
--ROUND 3--
--Winner's Bracket--
45-70 Magnum vs. SurgicalStrike ***
Whoever has the better wedge will definitely have an advantage in this fight, but it will not necessarily decide the winner, as 45-70 Magnum is still surprisingly dangerous when it's upside-down...
SurgicalStrike wins 2-1 with 2 KO's; 45-70 Magnum gets 1 KO.
Hellbringer vs. R4 ***
With 20 razor tips, R4 can afford to be more aggressive with its weapon than most popups. Hellbringer will have to count on this causing R4 to fire its weapons early, because just one solid hit on Hellbringer's bottom is going to be a crippling blow.
R4 wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
No Hype 5 vs. Copyright Infringement ****
No Hype 5 can't take very many hits from Copyright Infringement before it will become inoperative, but Copyright Infringement can take even less flips from No Hype 5 before it may land helpless on its back or bounce out of the arena. The match is pretty much decided after the first few seconds, but it's still quite entertaining to watch.
Copyright Infringement wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
Bounty Hunter vs. Cocytus IV ***
Bounty Hunter's caster-armored front may be more hindrance than help here, as there is a fairly good chance of Cocytus's wedges getting snagged in between the rows of casters and Bounty Hunter being unable to hit it. And if Cocytus gets under Bounty Hunter, well then those casters are just going to be that much dead weight. Then again, the casters do give Bounty Hunter good weight distribution on the wedges... this fight could go either way.
Cocytus IV wins 2-1 with 2 KO's; Bounty Hunter gets 1 TKO.
Seism 13 vs. The Emancipator ***
Finally, Seism 13 gets a break from 36-mace horizontal spinners (not that it really needs one after the effortless ownage it dished out in its last two fights). The Emancipator may prove to be a more elusive target if it starts flopping out of control, and if it gets under Seism 13, even those adjustable wedges won't save Seism until it can employ them in the next fight. Seism 13 is going to need some fast, solid chassis hits to win.
Seism 13 wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
PitA 8 vs. Absolute Chaos ****
Here it is, folks. The unstoppable force meets the immovable object. The most talked-about spinner in the tournament takes on the reigning champion's caster-armored popup for all the marbles. By all the laws of drama, this should have been at least a semifinal match. Oh well, that just means we get to see some top-notch action a little earlier than normal.
Absolute Chaos wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
the black plague vs. Shadow Tyrant ***
It will be easy for Shadow Tyrant to KO the black plague with just a few well-placed hits. The problem will be in actually getting a shot at the chassis, since the black plague covers so much area. Fortunately for Shadow Tyrant, it's got those six ram plates to absorb plenty of damage while it tries to line up a killing blow.
Shadow Tyrant wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
Crawl Through Knives v4.2 vs. Death Dealer ***
4WD would really help Crawl Through Knives here. With a little more speed, Death Dealer would have no chance of winning. But CTK only has 2WD, which admittedly makes for a much more interesting fight.
Death Dealer wins 2-1 with 2 KO's; Crawl Through Knives v4.2 gets 1 KO.
--Loser's Bracket--
Dark July vs. Mjorhmei ***
We've already seen that Mjorhmei has a surprisingly powerful weapon, but is it powerful to lift the most front-heavy bot in the tournament? If anything can ram Mjorhmei's hammers for long enough to start breaking them, it's Dark July.
Mjorhmei wins 3-0 with 2 KO's and 1 TKO.
T-800 Terminator vs. Stratocaster ****
Stratocaster is at a distinct disadvantage here: T-800 outnumbers it with weapons, and Stratocaster has no way to get around T-800's barrier of spinning maces; it has to break through in order to reach the vulnerable chassis. But at the very least, you can bet a 6-wheel drive pneumatic rammer with a decent (if not quite enough to outweapon T-800) array of iron spikes is going to put up a good fight. And the thing about good fights is, they're usually close.
T-800 Terminator wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
Anti-Christ V.Pincer vs. Vetearn Destroyer *
Unless you get a kick out of watching random Havok explosions ruin otherwise potentially good fights, this is one match you can skip. For some reason, this is by far the most unstable combination of bots I have ever seen.
Vetearn Destroyer wins by Havok forfeit. While it is arguable which bot is actually responsible for the Havok explosions and normally I would just restart the match without penalizing either bot, this happened literally every single match I did, so I had to blame somebody. I figure that the bot with more moving parts (Anti-Christ) is most likely to cause Havok explosions like this, and some tests I did back this up (the same thing happens when Anti-Christ fights any rammer, while with Vetearn Destroyer it only happens if it fights Anti-Christ or Triple Play.) Also, let's face it: there's no way Anti-Christ could beat Vetearn Destroyer normally. It just doesn't have enough spikes to get through VD's ramming front, and that's not even taking the hammer into account.
Tsunami vs. Bumble Bee ***
At the start of the tournament, no one would think twice about declaring Bumble Bee the winner of this fight. But after the Bee's startling loss against the black plague, suddenly the bot some are comparing to the infamous Spinner from the west looks a little more threatening. Is Tsunami slow enough to effectively copy the strategy used by the black plague in round 1? Or will it just sort of bump into Bumble Bee and make a fool of itself as it dies?
Bumble Bee wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
Generic Rammer vs. Big Flip's Revenge ***
What's worse than fighting a powerful popup with a wedgeless rammer? Answer: Fighting two powerful popups with a wedgeless rammer. Generic Rammer had better hope for the two Big Flips to get in each other's way like we saw with Urjak's multibots, or else it will quickly find itself surrounded with nowhere to go but up.
Big Flip's Revenge wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
Juggernaut Mk. 3 vs. Three Kings ***
Juggernaut doesn't have enough spikes to threaten Three Kings... at least not from the front. We already saw when Three Kings fought PitA 8 that it has a tendency to twist sideways when it hits something. If Juggernaut can manage to ram Three Kings' exposed rear, things might turn out differently, but it's going to require a healthy dose of luck to accomplish.
Three Kings wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
The Baby Warrior vs. Heaven's Sawmill ***
You can be sure The Baby Warrior's ram spikes won't come into play here, because Heaven's Sawmill will have to destroy those front plows first in order to expose them, and if that happens The Baby Warrior will be very lucky if it's still in the arena. So it comes down to a single battle axe versus eight iron spikes on a fast vertical spinner. Seems like a pretty straightforward victory for the Sawmill... but it will have to get under The Baby Warrior first, which might not be so easy with that long central wedge.
Heaven's Sawmill wins 3-0 with 1 KO and 2 TKO's.
Revenge Of Dr. Wham vs. Chernobyl ***
With its slow drive and unarmored front, Dr. Wham is not the bot most suited to taking on gnarly horizontal spinners. It does have a very shallow wedge, however, and when you're dealing with popups, sometimes all it takes is one good hit to completely turn the fight around.
Revenge Of Dr. Wham wins 2-1 with 2 KO's; Chernobyl gets 1 KO.
Mace in da face vs. Consonant / Vowel ***
A multibot such as Consonant and Vowel normally has little hope of victory against a strong horizontal spinner like Mace in da face. Mace in da face has a few instability issues during the course of this fight, however, and if Consonant and Vowel can take advantage of that to knock MIDF over the walls, things could change. Or else MIDF could just end up Mauler dancing on top of their dead bodies.
Mace in da face wins 3-0 with 1 KO and 2 TKO's.
Cardiac Arrest vs. Insult to Injury V ***
There's no question that Cardiac Arrest is the better bot here. However, as vulnerable as Insult to Injury's chassis is, Cardiac Arrest is going to have a hard time getting a good hit on the wedged front. And if Insult to Injury can get under Cardiac Arrest, it will only take a few hits to cause major damage.
Insult to Injury V wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
Acupuncture vs. Do Geese See God? / I Did Roll, or Did I? ***
Acupuncture has a good chance against either of these bots one-on-one, but while it's concentrating on one member of the team, the other could easily attack its flank and take off some wheels. It will have to be fast to take them both out before that happens. 6 wheel drive will definitely help there, but will it be enough?
Do Geese See God? / I Did Roll, or Did I? wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
Trojan Horse vs. SandStorm **
Neither of these bots has a particularly great wedge, but one of them has to be better than the other. It just might take some time to find out which one...
Trojan Horse wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
gears your lever vs. Gut Ripper 2 ***
gears your lever can out-weapon Gut Ripper 2, but Gut Ripper has a chance of reaching over GYL's weapons and hitting the vulnerable weapon motors. This fight will all hinge on how slowly GYL can approach Gut Ripper to prevent that from happening.
Gut Ripper 2 wins 2-1 with 3 KO's; gears your lever gets 1 KO.
Oscillation Overthruster vs. grinnin face ***
While these two bots have quite different designs, they are about evenly matched in terms of weapons, and it will all come down to hitting the extenders holding on the other bot's weapons.
Oscillation Overthruster wins 2-1 with 2 KO's; grinnin face gets 1 KO.
Black Cat Magic vs. Spearhead ****
Black Cat Magic's broad, flat front is a perfect target for ramming, so it's going to have to pick up Spearhead and chew it up pretty fast before it takes too many hits. Those few hits, though, are pretty impressive.
Spearhead wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
Triple Play vs. Vela ***
Vela is designed like a bigger, more powerful version of Triple Play, so, um, yeah... Triple Play is going to have to hope for a win by Havok forfeit.
Vela wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
--ROUND 2--
Vela vs. 45-70 Magnum ****
With three KO's already under his belt, the #1-ranked BBEANS competitor apparently isn't going to be taken down easily. Neither, however, is rookie spinner Vela. By the time this close match is over, there's not going to be much left of either bot. The only thing keeping me from rating this fight 5 stars is how long it takes for all that to happen--without the extensive editing and cropping I did, the full length is over 16 minutes! (How can 3 2-minute fights add up to 16 minutes? Lag.)
45-70 Magnum wins 3-0 with 2 TKO's and 1 WBP.
SurgicalStrike vs. Spearhead ***
Rock beats scissors. Scissors beat paper. Popups beat rammers. Usually. While there ends up being a clear winner in this fight, it is in no way one-sided: there are some intense moments when it looks like the fight could have gone the other way.
SurgicalStrike wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
grinnin face vs. Hellbringer ***
grinnin face might not feel like grinnin much more after a couple of minutes in the box with Hellbringer. Of course, neither will Hellbringer--grinnin face packs a surprising amount of power in an under-600 kg package. Frowns all around!
Hellbringer wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
Gut Ripper 2 vs. R4 ***
Gut Ripper has already proven itself against Tsunami. R4 is similar, only about twice as heavy, twice as fast, twice as wedgy, and five times more powerful. Really, how hard can it be?
R4 wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
SandStorm vs. No Hype 5 ***
Philetbabe's efforts to make an exciting bot have paid off: after BrasOuvert in BBEANS4 and Good Bye Blue Sky in RAW, and a disappointing first match against Generic Rammer in BBEANS5, he finally has a fight that cannot be called boring in any sense of the word. And if it's not boring, that means that at least one of these bots gets thoroughly owned.
No Hype 5 wins 3-0 with 1 KO and 2 TKO's.
Do Geese See God? / I Did Roll, or Did I? vs. Copyright Infringement ***
Normally, multibots are at a disadvantage against horizontal spinners because sneaking around to the back of one does absolutely no good. But when one of them is an armored popup, the pair just might have a chance, especially since I Did Roll finally seems to get its priorities straight and isn't so much of a hindrance as it was against Juggernaut Mk. 3. But you can bet a former champion isn't going to go down without a fight...
Copyright Infringement wins 2-1 with 3 KO's and 2 TKO's; DGSG? / IDRODI gets 1 TKO.
Insult to Injury V vs. Bounty Hunter ***
Ummmmm... maybe Insult to Injury V can sneak around to the side of Bounty Hunter? It's happened before.
Bounty Hunter wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
Consonant / Vowel vs. Cocytus IV ****
Once again, Consonant and Vowel act in such a way that Cocytus IV is able to engage them both individually, greatly reducing their effectiveness as a multibot. However, if this is how tough they are with such reduced effectiveness, I would hate to see them working at 100% efficiency. No, scratch that. I would love to see it, because this is a truly awesome fight with a good "WOW!" moment every round. You can almost forget that Vowel is a middleweight. Almost...
Cocytus IV wins 2-1 with 3 KO's and 2 TKO's; Consonant / Vowel get 1 KO.
Chernobyl vs. Seism 13 ****
Seism 13 was able to dismember Mace in da face with the ease of a samurai warrior slicing up a bamboo stalk, but Chernobyl's more spread-out design might prove more resilient to the catastrophic game-changing hits Seism was dishing out in round 1. Either way, you can be sure this is going to be one heck of a violent battle.
Seism 13 wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
The Emancipator vs. Heaven's Sawmill ***
Considering that the two most powerful vertical spinners in the tournament are both in the arena at the same time, I was expecting a lot more flying around in this fight than what actually happened. Although disappointingly short, the fight is still worth watching for what airtime there is.
The Emancipator wins 2-1 with 2 TKO's; Heaven's Sawmill gets 1 TKO.
Three Kings vs. PitA 8 ***
Three Kings doesn't pose much of a threat to the bulk of PitA, but if it can keep its weapons facing forward, it has a chance of breaking PitA's weapons as they fire. That's a big 'IF' there, because that rear end of Three Kings makes a tempting target for popups...
PitA 8 wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
Big Flip's Revenge vs. Absolute Chaos ****
Absolute Chaos may be the original 36-mace horizontal spinner and have an appropriately terrifying reputation, but when you get right down to it, it's still a regular 36-mace horizontal spinner, and it still has the weakness that all horizontal spinners share: the bottom. Let's put it this way: this fight is nowhere near as one-sided as you all thought it would be. Whoever wins this fight does so by only the slimmest of margins.
Absolute Chaos wins 2-1 with 4 KO's; Big Flip's Revenge gets 1 TKO.
the black plague vs. Bumble Bee **
No bot can win a war of attrition with Bumble Bee, and the black plague can't hit the Bee's top or bottom and it's nowhere near fast enough to push it over the wall, so the black plague is going to have to rely on the arena hazards if it wants to have a chance at winning. In that case, the black plague's speed (or lack thereof) might actually prove to be an advantage, as it takes so long for the bots to hit each other that by the time any real damage starts being dealt, the hazards are already activated. A slow and uneventful, but very interesting fight.
the black plague wins 2-1 with 1 TKO and 1 WBP; Bumble Bee gets 1 WBP. Yes you read that correctly; it's not a typo, Bumble Bee actually lost.
Vetearn Destroyer vs. Shadow Tyrant ***
Vetearn Destroyer's ramming spikes aren't going to do much against Shadow Tyrant's heavily armored front (what looks like two ram plates is actually six overlapping), so it all comes down to VD's hammer to do all the necessary damage. Too bad for Flying_Chao he didn't invest the extra 8 kgs to use a DDT instead of a Snapper 2.
Shadow Tyrant wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
Crawl Through Knives v4.2 vs. Stratocaster ***
Anyone who's built a rammer before, and has Starcore 3, and has fought Neglected Waterbug with it, knows how basically impossible it is to beat. Crawl Through Knives, however, while similar in design, is not NWB, and it's not impossible for Stratocaster to beat it. It will be a long and difficult struggle before a winner is decided, with plenty of flipper and blade action thrown in for flavor.
Crawl Through Knives v4.2 wins 3-0 with 1 TKO and 2 WBP's.
Mjorhmei vs. Death Dealer ***
I'm beginning to wonder if sledgehammers might be a more useful weapon than their stats alone suggest. Death Dealer isn't going to have nearly as easy of a time getting through Mjorhmei as we all thought.
Death Dealer wins 2-1 with 2 KO's; Mjorhmei gets 1 TKO.
--Loser's Bracket--
Blood Shed vs. Dark July **
Dark July is a ponderous, heavily armored tank, while Blood Shed has speed and pushing power on its side. It will be interesting to see whether those attributes are enough to get Blood Shed around Dark July's wall of spikes--because it's obvious that any head-on attack is doomed to failure.
Dark July wins 3-0 with 1 KO and 2 WBP's.
The Fang Brothers vs. Anti-Christ V.Pincer ***
Once again, the Fang Brothers must face the bane of multibots: a horizontal spinner. Their chance of getting through all those tribars is slim, but Anti-Christ's back is somewhat more vulnerable than anywhere else...
Anti-Christ V.Pincer wins 3-0 with 6 KO's.
Shock Therapy vs. Generic Rammer **
Shock Therapy may be severely out-weaponed by Generic Rammer, but it has one thing going for it: it's going to take a heck of a long time for anything to bash through all those layers of snow plows. Hopefully for Shock Therapy, it will be long enough for the hazards to activate.
Generic Rammer wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
'Eavy Metal Boi vs. Mace in da face ***
'Eavy Metal Boi has the worst of luck, being pitted against two 36-mace spinners in a row. Its previous fight against Chernobyl didn't go so well, so it's pretty much going to take a miracle to get past Mace in da face.
Mace in da face wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
Red Radar vs. Acupuncture ***
Red Radar's wedged front and vertical spinning weapons may be able to deflect most of Acupuncture's attacks, but it's going to take more than just avoiding damage to beat Acupuncture, or Acupuncture will simply whittle away Red Radar's weapons. And once Red Radar becomes unbalanced enough to let Acupuncture under it, you can expect the fight to change dramatically.
Acupuncture wins 3-0 with 2 KO's and 1 WBP.
--ROUND 1--
Blood Shed vs. Vela ****
There's a lot of action in this fight. While it will take a long time for any bot to get past the other's multitude of weapons, there is never a dull moment during that time.
Vela wins 2-1 with 2 KO's; Blood Shed gets 1 TKO.
45-70 Magnum vs. Dark July **
If 45-70 Magnum can't get under and pick up Dark July, it will crash against those 54 iron spikes like a wave against a rocky shore, leaving Dark July free to slowly whittle it down and probably win 3-0 by points. Unless 45-70 Magnum has another trick up its metaphorical sleeve...
45-70 Magnum wins 3-0 with 2 KO's and 1 TKO. It's hard to see in the video, but the reason Dark July keeps twisting to one side when 45-70 hits it is because 45-70's wedges are lifting one of Dark July's wheels off the ground, so when it tries to back up for a ram it turns instead.
T-800 Terminator vs. SurgicalStrike ****
Powerful, armored HS against a completely unarmored popup. The winner is obvious... or so you would think. T-800 might have to work a little harder than it thought to win this. Don't miss the final hit of the third round: if you're not watching closely, you won't even notice who actually won that fight. I actually thought the other bot won until I was editing the video in Windows Movie Maker and saw the hit again! That third round is without a doubt the closest BBEANS fight ever.
SurgicalStrike wins 2-1 with 2 KO's; T-800 Terminator gets 1 KO.
The Fang Brothers vs. grinnin face ***
Too bad there's no such thing as a "Win By Style", because The Fang Brothers make up in style what they lack in other combat aspects. The "Fang Sandwich" combo move in the third round alone would be enough to earn them the win in my book. But alas, The Fang Brothers will have to defeat grinnin face through more conventional means if they want to advance in the bracket. And with weapons long and low enough to sneak under grinnin face's weapons, the fight is closer than you may have thought.
grinnin face wins 3-0 with 6 KO's.
Anti-Christ V.Pincer vs. Hellbringer ***
With 18 and 16 iron spikes respectively, these bots are about as evenly matched as you can get, and the winner all comes down to design and a certain amount of luck. An otherwise boring third round is saved by some late arena flipper action: don't stop the video too soon!
Hellbringer wins 2-1 with 1 KO and 1 TKO; Anti-Christ V.Pincer gets 1 WBP.
Gut Ripper 2 vs. Tsunami ***
Gut Ripper's weapons spin in an interesting way. Instead of the outer tribars spinning the same direction as the center tribar like most Borg Queen-style bots, the outer tribars spin in the opposite direction from the center. My first thought upon seeing this was, "Well that's pointless. The two counter-rotating spinners will just cancel each other out and the thing will do hardly any damage." Let's see if Gut Ripper's unintuitive weapon setup is enough to give Tsunami the win here, or if JoeCB1991 knows something the rest of us don't.
Gut Ripper 2 wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
SandStorm vs. Shock Therapy *
There's some pretty awesome flipper action near the end of the first round that's worth seeing, but it doesn't quite make up for the excruciatingly boring other four minutes. When one bot can't get under the other, and the other bot's weapon is too short to hit anything, it's a recipe for... well, nothing.
SandStorm wins 2-1 with 1 KO and 1 TKO; Shock Therapy gets 1 WBP.
No Hype 5 vs. Generic Rammer **
"No Hype" is right. There's not a lot to get excited about in this fight. The first round is entertaining enough and you can tell it could have gone either way, but the fights only get less interesting after that, until by the third round there's pretty much nothing going on. But at least it's not as bad as some of BrasOuvert's fights in BBEANS4.
No Hype 5 wins 2-1 with 2 KO's; Generic Rammer gets 1 WBP.
Do Geese See God? / I Did Roll, or Did I? vs. Juggernaut Mk.3 ***
I Did Roll does more harm than help in this fight, and Do Geese is basically left on its own to pick up the slack. Taking down a full 800-kg rammer with a MW popup can be done, but doing it with an unreliable, uncooperative teammate constantly getting in your way? Do Geese See God is going to have its metaphorical hands full.
(If you're wondering why Juggernaut's driving is so terrible in round 3, it's because it's in reverse mode. Getting the AI to drive backwards even semi-reliably was REALLY HARD and Sol Vector should be glad the bot even faces in the right direction when its front weapons break.)
Do Geese See God? / I Did Roll, or Did I? wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
Insult to Injury V vs. The Baby Warrior ***
No one would predict either of these bots to make it very far in the tournament, but when pitched against evenly matched opponents as in this fight, they put on a surprisingly good show. The fights are fast, never boring, and probably could have gone either way.
Insult to Injury V wins 3-0 with 1 KO and 2 TKO's.
Revenge Of Dr. Wham vs. Consonant / Vowel ***
One questions the wisdom of a multibot when their designs all but necessitate facing the opponent one at a time instead of as a group. Dr. Wham can easily handle Consonant as it charges ahead, leaving Vowel to fight on its own, which is a tougher nut to crack for a slow, unarmored popup, but still would have been more effective with Consonant around to back it up.
Consonant / Vowel wins 3-0 with 3 KO's; Revenge Of Dr. Wham gets 3 KO's.
Chernobyl vs. 'Eavy Metal Boi ****
There's destruction aplenty in this fight, although the vast majority of said destruction is piled on one bot. It's more exciting in the way that Son of Whyachi vs. Hexadecimator was exciting, rather than a hypothetical Son of Whyachi vs. Sewer Snake.
Chernobyl wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
Seism 13 vs. Mace in da face ****
With its adjustable-width wedges, Seism 13 is primarily designed to take on other wedges. Mace in da face, however, is not a wedge. Those five ram plates will protect Seism from Mace in da face's weapons for a decent amount of time, but Seism 13 is going to have to do a lot of damage in a short amount of time if it hopes to survive. This fight is a fairly close one.
Seism 13 wins 3-0 with 2 KO's and 1 TKO.
The Emancipator vs. Cardiac Arrest ****
As long as The Emancipator remains stable, it can punt Cardiac Arrest across the arena like an 800-kg football, and potentially over the walls. Cardiac Arrest just has to endure this punishment long enough for The Emancipator to start losing its weapons and becoming unstable, at which point Cardiac Arrest will be able to start doing what it's supposed to do: ram away. Enduring those first several seconds might prove to be a tricky business, however...
The Emancipator wins 2-1 with 1 KO and 1 TKO; Cardiac Arrest gets 1 KO.
Three Kings vs. Red Radar ***
Neither of these bots can deliver any spectacular hits, but there's a little bit of good back-and-forth action that keeps you wondering who's going to win, and plenty of parts breaking off.
Three Kings wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
PitA 8 vs. Acupuncture ***
Looking at the two bots, you might think that Acupuncture, although a well-built rammer, has no chance of winning against a popup with a caster-armored front. It's going to need either luck or strategy to dethrone the current BBEANS champion.
PitA 8 wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
Big Flip's Revenge vs. Trojan Horse ***
Trojan Horse is exactly the type of bot that clusters are best at taking down. The Horse will have to be quick on its wheels to keep one of the Big Flips from sneaking up behind it while it attacks the other one. Fortunately for Trojan Horse, it IS quite quick--if anything is going to cause its downfall, it will be that less-than-perfect wedge.
Big Flip's Revenge wins 3-0 with 3 KO's; Trojan Horse gets 1 TKO.
gears your lever vs. the black plague **
There's no lack of damage being dealt in this fight, but it happens very sloooooowwwwllllyyyyyyy. Like digging a deep hole with shovels instead of an excavator. Only the editing and cropping I did makes it bearable to watch the whole thing.
the black plague wins 3-0 with 4 KO's.
Vetearn Destroyer vs. Oscillation Overthruster ***
This is one of the laggier fights I've seen. It's so bad that the sound cuts out at the end of round 1. But despite this hindrance, the bots can still move around enough to deal some good damage, and one of them is going to take the lion's share of it.
Vetearn Destroyer wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
Crawl Through Knives v4.2 vs. Black Cat Magic ***
Black Cat Magic is slow, but so is Crawl Through Knives, and if CTK can't force its opponent up its wedge, those weapons up there will do absolutely no good. However, despite both bots being slow, this fight is anything but.
Crawl Through Knives v4.2 wins 3-0 with 3 KO's.
Triple Play vs. Mjorhmei ***
Sledgehammers may be grossly inefficient weapons for how heavy they are, but there's something to be said for how much kinetic energy you can throw around with them. Basically all Triple Play needs to do for a win is hit one of Mjorhmei's hammers enough times so it breaks and the bot becomes unstable, but before that can happen, you can bet the underweight Triple Play is going to be doing some serious acrobatics.
Mjorhmei wins 3-0 with 1 KO and 2 TKO's.

@ pys: Heavens Sawmill doesn't have a match :/
-
I warn you: some of you aren't going to like your opponents. Somebody has to fight Naryar in the first round, after all.
Yeah, it ended up as me.
Well, hopefully I'll do better in the loser's bracket because I'll be flying there.
-
I might actually win a fight this time? Woo-Hoo!!!
-
I might actually win a round.....
-
Hopefully i don't have to fight Somebody's masterpiece of originality in the first round...
2 wins for me in the winner's bracket, then i'll get raped by AC.
Predictions:
Vela (These pole spikes are technically a good idea, but they don't protect much the extenders especially after some of them fall)
45-70 Magnum (gut-ripper VS rammer... ACAMS might lose all his razors on Dark July's irons, though)
T-800 Terminator (1 doubt about Ribbs getting under Starcore that easily, and with no defense, he'll get KOed quickly IMO)
grinnin face (The HS is poor and ugly as heck, but the poker multibot is the worst multibot i've ever seen)
Antichrist (Sheer number of weapons gives the victory)
Gut Ripper 2 (obviously)
SandStorm (More weapon hitpoints. Ian's my favorite but Shock Therapy COULD win)
No Hype 5 (Probably going to toss his opponent OOTA. Might be the most entertaining match of all the round)
Urjak's Multibot (The popup will help against a crappy rammer with high ground clearance)
The Baby Warrior (SFTW fight, but TBW has a wedge. Yawnfest alert)
Consonant/Vowel (because Wham's bot is too slow for getting efficiencly under S32's SnS)
Chernobyl (obviously a one-sided fight)
Mace in da face (Seism 13 hasn't enough weapons to do this)
Cardiac Arrest (We know what fast rammers can do against vertical spinners with weak weapons)
Three Kings (just because the other sucks at offense)
PitA 8 (if a decent popup can't win against a rammer...)
Big Flip's Revenge (multibot popup= kickass, just not on a HS)
the black plague (Because of the sheer number of weapons)
Vetearn Destroyer (exactly the same)
Crawl thorugh Knives (seeing how the "veteran"'s bot is horrible, has no wedges and stuff)
Triple Play (HS against VS. The VS isn't fast//powerful enough to throw Triple Play OOTA)
-
Predictions!
Bloodshed (Out-weapons and outmanouvers sluggish HS)
45-70 Magnum (Might WBP. Dark July has lots of irons)
T-800 Terminator (SS dosen't have the power to kill T-800 fast enough)
grinnin face (If the Fang bros are low enough they might actually have a chance...)
Anti-Christ (By a narrow margin. It will be very close)
Gut-Ripper 2 (No comment needed)
SandStorm (Shock Therapy's spinners are waaaaaay too high to do anything)
No Hype 5 (Arena will help it alot)
DGSG/IDRODI (Out-weaponing a HW... ouch)
The Baby Warrior (Only because it has a wedge)
Revenge of DR Wham (Will pick off each multibot one at a time)
Chernobyl (Just better that it's opponent)
Seism 13 (We may just learn why we don't put tribars on the bottom)
Cardiac Arrest (Chances of it going OOTA before the VS loses a weapon: slim)
Three Kings (I just can't see Red Radar winning)
PitA 8 (Caster armour will protect it well against the rammer)
Big Flip's Revenge (While one gets pounded, the other will attack an exposed side)
The Black Plague (Just more weapons)
Vetearn Destroyer (A HS killer facing a HS)
Crawl Through Knives 4.2 (BCM has no wedges, and CTK looks good)
Triple Play (It should lose, but I can see one hammer breaking and basically killing the other bot)
-
I know my tribars are to high but maybe one of my bazillion plows will get someone into the BBEANS Blade :-D
-
lol maybe your robot can bump mine onto its back or something.. knowing my luck, who knows what could happen! :)
-
I think my match there is a coin toss. I haven't fought any Starcore bots to have a chance in wedge vs. wedge 'fights' (usually I fail in them) but hopefully Trojan will be distracted on the one BFR, while the other takes it from the side.
Though the AI could fail me.
Also, somehow I forgot this match was being done in the BBEANS tourney arena..
-
Im not good at predicting so im not going to do so.
Im not sure if im going to like either of my first matchups, because mine hates popups and T800 is very well built. So who ever of them wins, im not having good chances...
-
Don't count on Grinnin face, boys. that thing is still on my pal's team file, and it's got a higher reach that the world's tallest man!
-
Bad luck... Will be hard... MidF must beat first a popup (Seism 13), then rammer or other HS, then i must face the other bro from the beetle bros, then AC or PitA 8, then the homo bee, and then will see... Looks like the bad lusk is stucked to me... The barket can't be worse for me...
-
Weird, I get to fight H@z in BBEANS & GUMBA...
If I do win (which I'm not sure I actually will) I'm freaked out about fighting Heaven's Sawmill in the next round... 0_o
-
Does anyone know whos going for the rumble?
If possible i'd like to do it.
-
what do you mean? the rumble is for the 4 top robots who didn't reach the final.
-
I'm pretty content of my chances since I'm facing a rammer. I'm just worried about the hazards though since Vela isn't all that fast.
-
IANH!!!... Looking to my lot in this BBEANS, i officially challenge your title of "possibly the most unlucky person in BBEANS". It belongs to me, you'll see...
:-D
-
-in my first ever BBEANS (#3) i drew the eventual winner in round 1 and got very unlucky against my friends bot.
-in BBEANS 4 my FBS got a hammer bot first up that was one of the top 4 bots (i think) then had to face a angled rammer that got under my bot.
I'm 0-4 and imo the most unlucky in BBEANS so far. you might wanna look at the draw for me after shock therapy... there are bots with better wedges ahead for me :(
-
im more then happy to not put a stain on your record lol but I really dont think my bot is up to it
-
When do you think the first round videos will be done by Click? = )
-
I am guessing quite a while..... there are 53 bots after all.
-
not that many matches in round 1 though..
-
There are about 21 matches in the round 1, Click usually does 16 for a torunment in the first round. So proably more than a week.
-
Match Winners:
Vela over Blood Shed
45-70 Magnum over Dark July

is that predictions or the actual results ? ether way my fight result seems about right lol
-
predictions, vids aren't up.. you can keep checking back on the page.
good to see i'm favorite to win ;)
-
Yeah, and me too, both C/V's bots dont have any kind of wedge system (32, lol) so hopefully i can pick both off one at a time (And Nar, for the last time my drive is HP Z-TEKS!)
-
Consonant will probable lose by going up your wedge, but you don't have protected sides, and two Hpz's ain't gonna help against a faster bot that can reach tose unprotected sides...
-
Still, my bots method is go straight on, get bots up on the wedge and kill.
-
Still, my bots method is go straight on, get bots up on the wedge and kill.
NO WAY! I've never heard of that tactic before! It's genius!
-
Enough trash talk, lets wait for the tourney to start!
-
But what is a forum without chat?
I was surprised that psycolone predicted SurgicalStrike would defeat T-800 Terminator.
There is always a chance for any bot to be randomly flipped out of this type of arena but in my experience and testing T-800 Terminator has never failed to defeat any bot that has an exposed front chassis. None. Zero. Zip. Terminated.
Starcore
-
imo my bot has a better chance then most pop-ups at beating T-800 just due to defense my bot has on the front.
-
T-800 is in the first 16 bot cluster and SandStorm is in the second 16 bot cluster so it will be a long time and a lot of foes to defeat before we even have a chance to find out.
Unless you want to post 1:1 Videos in the mean time...
Starcore
-
Still an honor to get a chance to fight you,
even if my bot gets the living crap beaten out of it.;)

think my bot might be a little under-rated, which i don't mind given that i haven't won a match yet! but here's a screenshot..

because talking trash is over-rated i have provided a pic to do the talking ha..

I just feel if SS can wedge itself up onto ur ramplates and gets under you it'll rip your belly open... if thats not the case your win lol

Bumble Bee's Flight
Black Plague = Win
Shadow Tyrant = Win
Death Dealer = Win
Absolute Chaos = Win
Bounty Hunter = Win (Only one I'm worried about)
Absolute Chaos = Win
Champion!
(Just my guesses guys. Who knows whats going to happen?)

Hmm...

I believe you guys might be underestimating me.
-
Sage,
Bumble Bee is very susceptible to wandering right out of the arena and yes a good set of hits by a decent Pop-up could ruin its day.

Anyways i really don't think that Ribbs could win against Starcore.
Not with an arena like that.
-
Two things:
I don't think i will be facing R4 because it has to get past AC.
Wrong arena (am impressed you beat it in the combat arena though)
Oh and guys- now that you see it being beaten, will you stop hating on it so much? please?
-
Abolutely not, I still see it as one of the most scumbag bots to ever enter a tournament. :D
-
ugh...
-
i guess sage really wants to win this time ;) but even with a cheap win bot the odds are against you :)
-
i guess sage really wants to win this time ;) but even with a cheap win bot the odds are against you :)
IS THAT SO BAD? AM I NOT ALLOWED TO TRY AND WIN? HUH?!!?
Plus, it's NOT a cheap win any more than anything else in this tourney. It follows all the rules. It's a bot that has never really been tried before and it works. It fits my tourney rule i gave myself to be original. IT CAN BE BEATEN.
I think you guys are all just jealous I made a bot you didn't think of first.
-
Actually, I first came up with the Idea. Check my showcase.
-
Actually, I first came up with the Idea. Check my showcase.
Most definitely not. How long ago did i build A for Abstract?
-
Sage, in my opinion, since anyone could have built that, and they just didn't, I don't see it being cheap at all.
-
Sage, in my opinion, since anyone could have built that, and they just didn't, I don't see it being cheap at all.
THANK YOU!
and:
If you can get controlled movement out of a crawler design, then it's perfectly OK for BBEANS.
found that in s32's showcase.
-
Yeah, that was when I came up the idea of a controlled Crawler for BBEANS.
-
Were there not many controlled crawlers before then? I remeber making a contollable crawler when I first got the game.
-
Make it and AI it then.
-
Oh.... I see what you are saying.... for BBEANS..... nevermind, I misunderstood.
-
I don't think i will be facing R4 because it has to get past AC.
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/73713R4 2.PNG)
Truthfully, I'm not concerned about HS's.
Oh and guys- now that you see it being beaten, will you stop hating on it so much? please?
Nope.
-
A lot of people are forgetting the 'Haymaker Dynamic'...
-
Sage, your bot might be controllable and perfectly legal, but the fact is that most people doesn't like crawlers.
And for them, entering a crawler into the most prestigious tournament ever is really cheap, and the bot itself is gay as heck.
Same for me.
And yup, you're going to face our hatred as long as Bumble Bee is still in the tournament.
And if it wins... you probably won't get much credit for winning BBEANS 5.
-
Why do so many people think it is so cheap?
-
and the bot itself is gay as heck.
Thats it you homophobic son of a bitch, I'm sick of you pulling that sh** out.
By got, If I hear that again I'll book a flight to france just for the joy of shoving a baguette up your ass. Sideways.
-
Because it completely by passes normal weapons and hits the targets top, which is often the least armored part of the bot.
-
You know guys, I feel horrible for Sage. Who knows how long he has spent building that bot, and perfecting it so it works well. And now apparently even if he WINS BBEANS he wont get much credit for it. You got to be kidding right?! Winning BBEANS is a very difficult achievment, and you guys hate the bot just because you don't like crawlers. What is so bad about them anyway? Oh no... they have disks and weapons instead of wheels. What a nightmare! You guys also must realize that comes with big disadvantages, most of which due to their very poor mobility.
As we have seen, the bot can be beat, it is not Cheap Win 3000. So guys, just shut up about it.
-
Quit your jibberjabber! Crazy fools!
-
*Sorry Sage, nothing personal to you, but i agree with Nar. If "Cheap ghay win 3000" won BBEANS, the next BBEANS will be full only with crawlers... I build crawlers from beginning, but why you think i didn't enter a good one crawler? I do not want cheap win, thats why. And who say crawlers are hard to build and take long time?... Its not true*
-
To make them decent enough not to be owned by the first decent Hammer, Popup or VS they can be hard to make.

I think you guys are all just jealous I made a bot you didn't think of first.
You are definitely allowed to try and win. It is not an issue of people being jealous. It is an issue of people considering it one of the forbidden technologies not allowed for the BBEANS tournaments.
It is a version of a Bubble Ball as you recognize even it its name: Bumble Bee.
The BBEANS General Rules for All Tournaments, Revised 2/26/09, Rule 3 States:
"Your bot must be able to show controlled (not random) movement at any time during the match, for as long as its drive system remains undamaged. Bumble balls, Nasty Pickles, piston fliers, or related designs do not count as controlled movement. A quick test: if your bot is able to track down an immobile opponent in an arena without walls, then it should be acceptable."
To recap, "...Bumble balls ... or related designs do not count as controlled movement."
It is your fault you submitted a design that is related to a Bumble Ball and it is Clickbeetle's fault for accepting it without warning the rest of the community and giving them time to respond.
How many people would have submitted Bumble Ball varients or armored their tops if they knew this kind of technology that was previously forbidden was being allowed for this tournament? You did not invent it, the design type has existed and been basically despised since 2005.
Do not call people jealous when they are angry at this being allowed and not being warned. You are just showing yourself for being shallow, lame, and covering your a$$.
Starcore
-
I named it bumble bee because it won't sting you if you don't try to hurt it, like a real bee.
Whatever. I guess if you guys want to put a forum wide vote, then Click might let me enter something else (not that i really want to.)
I'll be ok with entering something else. Whatever you guys think is necessary to keep your panties unbundled.
-
This is so ridiculus....
-
This isn't a bumbleball. Bumble balls have internal motors that make them vibrate and move around. This is just a crawler.
Hell, I don't like crawlers either but this isn't Cheapwin3000. Chances are if something even slams it against a wall, it will fly out the arena.
-
I do feel the design is a Bumble Ball varient and I would suggest it put to a forum wide vote if Sage and Clickbeetle will not act as they should.
I think that Clickbeetle should not have allowed it and in doing so he should have warned the rest of the community so they could adapt to what was previously a banned technology.
I suggested in private IM a week ago that Sage should coordinate with Clickbeetle to replace the bot before the first match is impacted and I was shrugged off.
I have nothing against Sage. I like him alot. I also know the technology well. ACAMS has a SHW in Starcore v3 to show the design. It was recognized as a problem technology and Click knew enough to ban it and related designs in the BBEANS General Rules.
I generally let you all scrabble and slam each other to your hearts content but when I see something is wrong I do articulate. Even back to the days of Ace Uplink banning people at whim with their "Ban Hammers" I stood up to them and pushed back hard.
Starcore
-
This is so ridiculus....
Agreed.
As SD said, Sage's bot is not invincible, it can be beaten.
If Click thought it was against the rules, he would have rejected it and told Sage. But he didn't. Click accepted the bot into his tournment and we should respect that decision.
-
Nicely said Wings. I also bring something else to attention..... does it really matter? This is a just a stupid tournament for god's sake. I am not saying BBEANS is a strupid tournament, I am saying its just for fun and really does not matter.
Thats probably the last I am going to say on this ordeal.....
-
By got, If I hear that again I'll book a flight to france just for the joy of shoving a baguette up your ass. Sideways.
I call Internet tough guy.
______
Hell, that flame war about Cheap Win 3000 (that is not a bumble ball but a crawler) isn't going anywhere... I'm one of the guys that started it, yes, but it becomes pointless.
However, Click is probably going to stop all this with just one post, so i'm done with this.
-
What is this? The second flame war focused around BBEANS 5?
-
Unfourtunatley yes.... though I believe it is subsiding.
-
C'mon guys, this is spiraling waaaaaayyy out of control.
Bumble Bee is a perfectly legal bot under the current rules. It is not cheating in any way shape or form. I built one, and it is mobile enough to navigate cornered arenas and track down opponents. I just like giving Sage a bad time :P
S32, you're taking the whole gay thing way too far. Seriously, calm down. This is an internet forum discussing a game.
I started giving Sage a bad time about it because I thought he'd honestly come up with something much cooler that that. I mean, look at the bots he's built (Mincemeat, Vise, etc.). I was just expecting something like that rather that a bot that damn near anybody here could build.
-
I would rather see Bumble bee fight and lose, rather than see it voted off the island without a view of its possible glory or defeat. If we vote it out of the tournament, we are admitting defeat straight up.
If it wins the tournament people, wake up... this is the kind of evolution that makes us better builders. There are bots that can defeat Bumblebee... just like there are bots that can defeat popups, HSers, and the like.
While, I too would be afraid of facing Bumblebee... I commend Sage for entering something different because he really could have entered just another dominant HSer.
-
My issue is with the technology, not with Sage. I am not afraid of the bot. I am disappointed about the allowing the style of bot. Had been (in my opinion) clearly banned. That is my point. Doesn't help that the version Sage sent me to review was incapable of controlled movement.
Sage you even said it in your description of Bumble Bee. Won't hurt you unless you try to hurt it. As in can't go out and hurt others because it can't... go. You can stand back and just watch it flair around.
I am sure this will either fade off or Click will declare or show that he AIed the version in the Tournament to track "well enough" an opponent.
Just means this style of bot is now allowed in BBEANS tournaments and people will need to plan for it.
Starcore
-
So, all I see is less HS.
-
Was a time System32 that Pop-ups rulled the nest. And before that Pokers had major impact. Designs and styles change over time. That is not the issue. I even built Warmachine to show that Rammers are still relavent in todays world. I am glad Sage is being creative.
Keep an eye out for Caster Armored bottom Bumble Ball Crawlers. There will be impacts from this decision. You may not like the results.

-
sage im not saying the design is illegal or anything, i dislike stacked HS's just as much cause no thought goes into them.. just put as many weapons as you can on a spinner and your gonna get far in a tournament most the time. it's sad that we are gonna see stacked HS's in most stock tournaments, i prefer watching unique designs.
heavens sawmill is one of my fav's in the tournament because its such a well thought out design... hopefully people see the point I'm trying to make.
-
I do and deeply appreciate diversity.
Loved Rejected's designs for that reason and love Clickbeetles for that reason.
I have be very good at building HS designs but even in doing so I go for stories, themes, styles.

Well since I built probably the first "Crawlers" (and have 2 or 3 in SC packs) I do know that they can me controlled to attack an immoble opponent and I am all for them. I am however against multi bots in a HW tournament. We are here to see who can build HW, or MW, or LW in tournaments......but BBEANS has always been different so that is the way it is. ANYWAY I see nothing wrong with a "Crawler" type bot as long as it is able to attack an immoble opponent, and move in a more or less straight line.
-
i think we need some extra rules for multi-bots, in RL robot combat they are actually joined at the start and get separated when the match starts.. so entries like man manu's wouldn't be a possibility but bots like big flips revenge would be as they could have been connected back to back.
if only there was a way to actually build a multi-bot...
-
IMO, the rules are what they are. If it can 'control' itself then we cannot complain because Sage stayed within the designated parameters. As SC and ACAMS pointed out this is the way the game has and will continue to go.
And I'd like to also factor in new and improved AI.py and Tactics that do/will contribute to the advancement of the game.
.

I just want to point out that I was kidding in my post, hence the smiley face. Apparently that didn't go over too well.

I will never allow "crawlers" for any of my own tournaments.
I almost quoted ACAMS' post and said NO cause i thought it was S32...hehehe saved from epic fail...

Their avatars are annoyingly similar...

Looking forward to good matches. Props to Sage for wanting to be creative and different. Thank you Clickbeetle for doing the BBEANS tourneys and enduring alot of squabbling as we wait anxiously for the videos to come out.

Yah guys, we have to remember that Clickbeetle isn't forced to do this for us. He does it because he is nice enough to make a small group of people happy. We need to thank him and other tourney hosts because they ask for nothing in return when they do these tournaments. Instead of complaining about 1 Bot in a field of 53 Bots, just think that we are priveleged to have a person willing to take 53 bots, AI nearly all of them, and shoot videos of them for at least a month. Be thankful that there is a tournament for Bumble Bee to be in. Or for Consonant/Vowel, T-800 Terminator, or PiTA 8, and stop complaining about one bot, when the odds are that you are not even going to face it. If anyone actually reads the wiki pages I do, normally the champion only has 8 or 9 battles, and usually it faces one bot at least twice. So most of you who are complaining will probably not even have to fight Bumble Bee.
-
Just though I say well said Somebody, and I have read everyone on your wiki pages. :)
-
I just only want to say 3 things IMO :
1. ACAMS, your SHW alligator in SC3 have horrible AI controling, yes it can point to some direction, but is very slippery and slip to sides a lot when make a turn or something... So i will say : NOT that controlable as you all think after all...
2. There is no way Sage to send new bot, cos he already saw the entrants and will know what to build, but...
3. If ClickB remains this bot in the tournament, no matter will it win or not, the next BBEANS will be full of crawlers which will put the fun to the MIN, and BBEANS will become : boring crawlers trying to get each other. Just you guys do this : put 2 alligators in fight and watch a boring long match... What about that, ah!!!!!!!
Agreed with all Starcore said!!!
Sage, all this is not against you, its against your bot, you don't have fold for this "war", so be cool... ClickB have the final verdict, he will decide after all...
-
its a working robot get over it. Yeah its cheap but i doubt anyone will enter crawlers bc theyre frowned upon and I dont even see the fun in building one, yet watching it in a tournament... Whoever wants to go ahead nd have fun
-
Just let him enter Bumble Bee and make the next bbeans have rules that prohibit crawlers.
-
Guys... Imagine the swarms of zombie crawlers attacking in next BBEANS. They are hungry for your brains and a cheap wins. We must stop them. With forbidding them in BBEANS...
-
Next BBEANS in DSL Lightweight. Honestly, I don't see anybody entering a DSL lightweight crawler.
-
Think in advice... The next then, and so...
-
2. There is no way Sage to send new bot, cos he already saw the entrants and will know what to build, but...
well... it doesnt matter really. If i enter an anti hs, a popup will get me. and vice versa. theres no way to make a bot that, after seeing all 52 in this tourney, will have a strategy against all of them. hence, no perfect bot.
-
Yes, kinda agree. *But if you want, you can F*** a lot someone if you don't like him, with an anti him bot, for an example...*
-
OMG JUST STFU ALREADY
-
AMEN!
-
I don't know what all the stink is about......I am pretty sure my bot can beat it, and REAL sure several others can, so I really think we need to stop conversation about it real quick!

Bringing things back on track.
This being a potential flip out arena means any match could be subject a fluke flip out. A bot could charge another bot and one time it knocks its opponent over the wall and the next time for the same charge could itself go flying up and out.
So besides that, I see T-800 Terminator having no problem bashing the exposed chassis of SurgicalStrike for a quick victory.
More then likely the Weapons of Spearhead will bash to little effect on T-800's Ram Plates and be knocked aside by the concentrated maces of the bursted HS. Spearhead's side plow will be quickly broken off and the he will be destroyed seconds after that.
After that it gets a bit harder to predict who T-800 will be fighting next. 45-70 Magnum needs to get through 2 Rammers and a lesser version of T-800 by way of Vela. I don't yet know how well 45-70's wedges lift up rammers to get at their soft undersides. Should be fun to watch.
The arena design with the center box helps bots like Vela and T-800 to get to the sides of rammers like Blood Shed and Dark July. Or I could be wrong and it could help the rammers funnel their way to the HS bots and over power them.
Looking forward to watching the videos...

The first quarter of round 1 is up!
(I'm uploading the first round in smaller chunks so you don't have to wait a whole month or something before I post videos.)
I apologize for the delay; it's been a very busy past few weeks for me as I rushed to make nests for solitary bees which start flying early in the year (it's part of my MS project.)
And now I suppose I have to address this Bumble Bee controversy, and hopefully have the last word on it.
Bumble Bee is not a bumble ball. It is a crawler. I have said on several occasions that crawlers are legal as long as they meet all the other rules, but perhaps I should clarify that in the rules.
The interesting thing about BB is that it's not just a crawler, but a sit and spinner crawler. While it will spend most of its time in the arena waiting for the other bot to come and hit it, it IS capable of going after the other bot itself. In fact, the AI I'm using for it has a feature where if 15 seconds pass without any damage done, the AI (Bumble Bee) will stop spinning and chase down the opponent.
I already told Sage that Bumble Bee was OK to enter when he first said he was considering it, and I won't go back on that decision now. Bumble Bee is staying in the tourney, for better or worse.
As for concerns about crawlers dominating the brackets in future BBEANS, I'm not worried about it. Crawlers are really only effective as HW's (there are a few MW's but it's a lot harder to do). Also, it's not hard to flip them over the wall in the BBEANS arena if you have a fast bot. If there aren't very many fast bots capable of doing that in BBEANS5, well that's not Sage's fault now is it.
When popups first came onto the RA2 scene, there was a similar backlash against them for much of the same reasons used against Bumble Bee. It was seen as cheap and unfair to get under the other bot and hit their unprotected bottoms. And now look, popups are basically a staple design of RA2, and they're also beatable.

I'm making more of an effort to reduce file sizes this time around, so saving videos to your hard drive shouldn't be necessary. All videos in BBEANS5 will be about 20 MB or less.

Click:I misread everything. He'd probably laugh at the rocket flight though.

I must say I didnt expect that from SS. Might happend on my case too, but I think I have a good chance at 1 hit killing it, thats what usually has happened with popups without protection, but who knows?

Yes I have Firefox. but I just checked it and it works in Internet Explorer. Thanks guys.

Congrats to SurgicalStrike. Great fighting. I agonized and stewed on razor tips in front to break weapons or late round ramming vs two casters on bottom for pop-up protection. In lots and lots of testing it seemed better to do the razor tips out front.
Congrats again and will see if T-800 can climb his way out of the losers bracket.

Sorry, I screwed up with the controls.

My bot might be able to pull out a win against an HS. Tested him on my prototype HS, though admittedly the HS wasn't as good as some of the bots in the tournament (i.e. T-800, AC).
-
Your bot's only chance is against Tsunami. Maybe.
-
I went on a ride like rut ripper's weapon once. Fast as anything.
was it... the Sizzler? they have it in the county fair each year.
-
No, I'm in Scotland. It was some ride at M&D's.
-
hmm... interesting.
-
*bump*
-
The next set of videos is up!
Some pretty good fights, although nothing really spectacular.
Edit:
Sorry, I screwed up with the controls.
Huh, I thought it was intentional after I saw how effective it is. Having the weapons counter-rotating decreases speed, true, but it makes it a lot harder to stop. I think it might actually be better. If you still want me to "fix" the controls I'll do it.
-
good, but how's dsl 3 going?
-
If you really want to know, ask it in PM or at least in the DSL forum, not in every topic I post in. This is about BBEANS.
And, the answer is, I haven't made any progress since remaking Hypno-Disc. I've been busy. But I'll start working on it again as soon as I have more time.
-
ah, ok. well, i did pm you. i understand you're busy with this behemoth of a tourney. i spent an hour last night looking at the dsl 3 preview thread, and i wanna race something. if you need help, i can do components. i'm pretty good at making custom ones.
-
Some matches were better than I orginally thought they would be. I can't wait for the next quarter, I expect that will the best matches (Seism 13 vs. Mace in da Face, The Emanicpator vs. Cardiac Arrest, I'm really looking forward to) of round 1 will come from there.
-
I won..... wow.
-
I found it hilarious when Shock Therapy got flipped atleast 10 times from the flipper at the last minute. The calm music to that just made it so funny. Urjak's Rammer attacking his teammate was pretty funny too.
-
10/12 so far, not too bad, and wow Dr.Wham beat the pulp out of constanant, S&S just exposed its weak front.
-
:(:(:( not to be a sore loser but that is sooo not fair I had that first match won (I swear the timer hit 0 before I landed outside) and I won round 3 I so could have been the person to advance to round 2
guess I have taken the podium of most unlucky person in BBEANS
-

It was really, really close--another half second and you would have won--but it WAS a fair win for SandStorm. That's what the hazards are there for. Your bot is just especially vulnerable to the flippers, I think because of the bursted snow plows which give it some springiness when it lands.
Well ianh05 can no longer claim to be the most unlucky person in BBEANS now.
-
yeah Ian deserves to go through just as much as anyone, and his bot did ko mine round two so its fair he should be the one going through, but I do want his tittle of must unlucky person in BBEANS now... (btw it isnt a curse that gets passed on by any chance is it ? lol)
the picture when it came down to Milliseconds (http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s36/westcoastdrags/SandStorm_ShockTherapy016_0001.jpg)
-
Alterer of Reality, I take back some of what I said to you. But not all of it.
I'm 7/12. Not very good so far.
-
Ah, the classic Decoy maneuver. My match went as expected.
-
Wow, I did pretty good for having a rather crap bot (currently working on Insult to Injury 6)
-
But, you have to fight Bounty Hunter next.
-
Huh, I thought it was intentional after I saw how effective it is. Having the weapons counter-rotating decreases speed, true, but it makes it a lot harder to stop. I think it might actually be better. If you still want me to "fix" the controls I'll do it.
You can leave it how it is.
Watching Shock Therapy get flipped 10 times was the most entertaining part of this round.
-
well at least my bot did something right lol :-D:-D:-D dosent matter about winning all that matters is that your steal the show lol
-
But, you have to fight Bounty Hunter next.
Yeah, I'm going to get destroyed.
-
Careful with that title Joe, there are quite a few builders who got more unlucky than you.
-
I just built something that I wish I would have built during the time CB gave us to get everything set up https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/56972screenshot.bmp...
At least I'm getting better with Stock. Maybe I can enter that in the next tournament.
-
ummm... overkill on the batteries.
-
I would not have enough extra weight to put more razors on there anyway, so I just put in some extra batteries since there are so many motors on there.
I did manage to beat Borg Queen with it, so even though I'm not that great with Stock I guess I'm doing something right.
-
SandStorm vs.
I note this match *** for the sequence that happens about 3mn of movie. Shock Therapy is unlucky, but the arena gives it best here.
No Hype 5 vs. Generic Rammer **
"No Hype" is right. .../color]
Another 'most boring match reward ?'
-
The next set of videos is up! These are the fights you've all probably been itching to see--Chernobyl, Seism 13, Mace in da face, The Emancipator, and Cardiac Arrest all fighting. And I can assure you that you won't be disappointed. Unless you lost one of those fights, that is. Then you might be a little disappointed.
-
I'm happy enough to send a bot OOTA once. :P
Oh well, I hope I'll be luckier in the loser's bracket.
-
YAY
-
15 for 18 ;-o
-
Well that was fast. Great matches, easily the best. The fact that Seism 13 won also increases the chances that it and Heaven's Sawmill will meet, and I really want to see the two BeetleBros fight each in a BBEANS tournment.
I'm not sure the next quarter's matches though, they could be good but they also be bad.
As for me, I've got to hope for the best and win at least match in the loser's bracket.
-
Some real good matches. Red Radar wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I think it's design is worth playing with. Also, Big Flip is the 3rd multibot through. I'd say that that's pretty impressive.
Also:
Seism 13 (We may just learn why we don't put tribars on the bottom)
-
yeah, that one was interesting...
-
All of those fights were good, and I hope we can download the music that you use in these videos sometime.
-
Pretty good fights right here.
Hell, i was really afraid of losing all my razors to Acupuncture... because yes, the weapons are fragile. Very fragile.
-
Haven't watched the video yet (in school.. with the teacher very close by too) but that's a very good result for BFR.
-
Careful with that title Joe, there are quite a few builders who got more unlucky than you.
hmm my bot falling out of the arena was the matter of progressing to round 2 or getting knocked out and the timer was on 0 I would call that unlucky but sure im happy to pass the tittle on to whoever comes next
-
hmm my bot falling out of the arena was the matter of progressing to round 2 or getting knocked out and the timer was on 0 I would call that unlucky but sure im happy to pass the tittle on to whoever comes next
True that is very unlucky, but I was referring more towards unlucky match ups. That's where Ian says his bad luck came into play. Still, now that I think about why don't hold on to that title for now.
-
Wow some really cool fights there. Nice bot, Reier that was a great fight :)
Now I face Heaven's Sawmill in the next round :S
-
Yeah, CA stinks against VS. Congrats H@z.
Hey, maybe I'll win the BTRSHDBBDDTBL. =p
-
Wow some really cool fights there. Nice bot, Reier that was a great fight :)
Now I face Heaven's Sawmill in the next round :S
Heh, you think you got it bad. I've got AC.
-
Yeah, CA stinks against VS.
And drives like a bitch anyways : too much frontal weight.. i bet that could have been solved easily by putting frontal stabilizers like icepicks touching the ground... huh? HUUUH ???
-
Okaaaay...I was going to make a new version anyway. Yeah it does have a lot of frontal weight, it's a rammer!
One of the main problems is that it gets flipped backwards too easily.
-
Oh god I've just realised, if I do manage to win I get bumble bee :-S. Well, losers bracket here I come!
-
First win! I'm itching to see Chernobyl vs. Seism 13, and I have a feeling that it isn't going to go well.
-
Reier, its a good bot. You just got reallyyyyyy unlucky with a VS draw.
-
i really thought my bot would have done a lot better :/ and only just won so i think i still hold "the most unlucky in BBEANS" title.
-
hmm fair enough I think you must just curse bots (namely mine) with it on occasions lol
-
Somebody: MIDF lost because the tribars were centered. You have a wider frame to you'll take longer to beat. Perhaps enought time for...
-
Last video set's up! Round 1 is now complete. Whew, that's a lot of work with 53 bots. The winner's bracket in Round 2 is still going to be the size of a regular 32-bot tourney.
I'll update the bracket in a couple days now, and start up a ranking after round 2, once all the bots have fought at least once.
-
I like how the second round of the VetDes VS. OscOve match fades out and in....
-
I feel bad for my bro, he gets Mace to Da Face in the losers bracket.
-
Matches were okay, but the next round I think will be great.
Click, quick question, are you going to post round 2 in parts like round 1 or as whole?
-
I'll post it in parts again. I get videos up more frequently that way. First it will be the first and second half of the winner's bracket, then the first and second half of the loser's bracket.
-
=) I won a match!
-
And now i am realizing that i failed at the smartzone placement and i really cant believe i also forgot to use the DDT's for the srimech !
-
I'm relaxing in my nice, soft, loser's bracket.
-
Wow, big congrats to Metalikvyper. That was a fun match to watch.
And good work Clickvolkswagonbeetle! The matches are great. Thanks for all your hard work.
-
Yay I lost. What a boring match! Can't believe it got 2 stars... Good work Click!
-
aww man i lost my first match! (sucky deadline just before i made a better bot)
-
So i got 15 out of 21 right... not too bad i suppose.
Next round predictions!
Vela - Maces own on a HS, and ACAMS's bot is too slow to be a real threat to HS. Also Vela out-weapons his opponent.
SurgicalStrike - Both bots are fast, but Spearhead is unarmored an has no wedges. It will probably end up over SS and get gut ripped to death.
Hellbringer - Simply because of the gap between the two bot's building skill. Hellbringer did defeated a much better HS first round, there is no reason he can KO grinnin face easily. The FS also outweapons his opponent.
R4 - The misnamed Gut Ripper isn't powerful enough to KO quickly his unarmored opponent, and the said opponent is VERY powerful.
No Hype 5 - Has more than likely the better wedge and will (slowly) gut-rip Sandstorm to death.
Copyright Infringement - The popup will get raped and the rammer won't be much of a challenge to that 36 weapon HS.
Bounty Hunter - Do i even need to say it.
Cocytus IV - It will easily destroy Consonant, and then is fast enough to destroy Vowel, unlike the previous popup. Might be a close match though.
Seism 13 - Seeing how it destroyed a 36 mace in the previous match, i think it could take on Chernobyl. Not sure about my prediction though.
Heaven's Sawmill - Wedges are probably better.
PitA 8 - With the Popup AI, my bot will have no trouble getting under him and strike at the chassis, maybe tearing up one or two HPZ's with it.
Absolute Chaos - Aggravated rape. No MW popup multibot can take on a good HS.
Bumble Bee - Cheap win.
Shadow Tyrant - Most rammers have few chances against popups, especially with that much ground clearance...
Crawl through Knives v4.2 - Stratocaster will ram his opponent, ride the wedges and will get gut ripped. However, CTK is terribly slow and it will hamper it. Is it enough for giving the win to Strat ?
Death Dealer - The first HS Mjorhmei fought was really poor. The second one is decent and more importantly has much more attack power. Mjorhmei will lose a hammer and the fight. It could get a win however.
-
Absolute Chaos - Aggravated rape. No MW popup multibot can take on a good HS.
Hmm, so you don't think there's a chance BFR could get lucky? Those motors on AC are sort-of exposed and all.. if one gets lucky, maybe it'll make the end result 2-1. Expecting the loss, but not without a fight.
-
1st time I've done predictions.
Vela: Magnum uses way too many razors, which will get ripped off from 24 maces.
Surgical Strike: I'm confident in Surgical Strike's abilities after its last win. Spearhead will get gut-ripped since it has no wedges.
Hell Bringer: Despite fighting a Horizontal Spinner, I think Hell Bringer will win. Grinnin Face has very high tribars. Hell Bringer will inch its way under it and gut-rip it to death, just like it did to Anti Christ.
R4: Just like SS vs T-800, except this time the odds are favored more in the pop-up's hands.
No Hype 5: Apparently Sandstorm has very bad wedges. No Hype 5 will get under it and gut-rip it.
Copyright Infringement: HS with many weapons vs two Middle Weights.
Bounty Hunter: ...
Consonant / Vowel: SD told me that Cocytus had pretty bad wedges, plus it seems pretty hard to juggle two bots at once.
Seism 13: If Seism can do it once, it can do it again.
Heaven's Sawmill: Click probably has good wedges.
Pita 8: Bad HS vs good Pop-up.
Absolute Chaos: Ouch.
Bumble Bee: Bumble Bee crawls over TBP and then kills it in seconds.
Shadow Tyrant: Would of been different if Vetearn Destroyer had wedges.
Crawl Through Knives: Pretty tough for Stratocaster to beat CTK since SC is meant to ram. Stratocaster will run up Crawl Through Knive's wedge and get gut-ripped.
Death Dealer: Once Mjorhmei tips over or loses a snowplow, it will probably backflip out of the arena.
-
Vela: Magnum is too slow, big wheels and not much of a decent wedge. Those Axes may be a decisive factor though...
Spearhead: SS may be a powerful bot, but those razors may break on Spearheads barrage of irons.
Hell Bringer: Grinnin face is unbursted, and uses weak razor designs. It's also roughly 500KG. Mark needs to learn a little.
R4: R4 looks awesome, and gut ripper has a high ground clearance.
No Hype 5: sandstorms wedges suck. I also predict this match being 2 or 1 star.
The Palindromes: Copywright isn't a pure HS, and it has a large chassis...
Bounty Hunter: Bumble bee ain't the only bot to get 2 free rounds...
Cocytus: I fought NWB in the combat arena with nailgun as a teammate, and the result was this: Vowel will have a nice flight.
cheronybl: MIDF's motors were in the same place, this bot has them wider. No more lucky his here...
Heaven's Sawmill: Better main weapon.
Pita 8: Badly done HS and a very good Pop-up with casor armour... All three kings can hope is a misfire to expose those juicy weapons...
Absolute Chaos: If you don't like total OWNAGE, don't watch.
Bumble Bee: Bumble bee will win. As expected.
Shadow Tyrant: Rammer with horrid axe VS popup with heckuva lotta armour.
SC: SC may go up it's ramp, but CTK is too slow to keep up a fight. Here's a hint: Weapons on top + slow bot = sucky match.
Death Dealer: Mjorhmei is going to dance like Vowel is.
-
R4 - The misnamed Gut Ripper isn't powerful enough to KO quickly his unarmored opponent, and the said opponent is VERY powerful.
That was actually the first thing I could think of, and I only named it that because it had razor's that would rip out someones guts in real life.
-
aw sh**... i lost. -.- wasnt even close. :(
ah well, viper had the better bot
-
Man! I went out like a punk. Perhaps I need to modernize... or start entering my weird bots that aren't very good at fighting, but are really entertaining to watch.
-
That was actually the first thing I could think of, and I only named it that because it had razor's that would rip out someones guts in real life.
Atleast you make reference to the R4DS, a decent auto-booting homebrew cartridge for the DS.
-
Is something wrong with Tsunami? The weapon didn't launch once in the whole match.
-
I was surprised by that too. I think that you could of ripped off one of my weapons if it did fire.
And I think I can win my next match if I can do the same thing I did in this one.
-
Is something wrong with Tsunami? The weapon didn't launch once in the whole match.
The AI is probably looking for the chassis to be in the smart zone rather then weapons. Don't recall Tsunami getting properly under it's opponent (forgot who it actually was)
Same happened with BFR. It only launched it's weapons about 60% of the time that I would.
-
I know that there is an AI that only targets the chassis...
-
Popup.py.
Just like Omni, but the smartzone must touch the chassis (not the component) to make the weapons fire.
-
You guys seem to have all the fun when I'm gone.
-
^^^Stay around then.
-
Hey. The next set of videos is up--the first half of the round 2 winner's bracket! Let me tell you, there were some good fights, some surprises, and no duds.
-
No duds indeed, if this half was good the next will be better for sure with Absolute Chaos, Heaven's Sawmill, and Bumble Bee joining the fight now.
-
Nice fights.
-
Good fights all-around, but R4's performance kind of concerns me. In AI testing against Borg Queen, it was barely able to scratch R4, let alone bash its front in. Hopefully that's just attributed to the fact that Gut Ripper has a long reach, because the weapons seemed to be firing prematurely.
Also, Vowel = O:
-
I've told you I'm good with SNS.
-
My fight went as I tought it would...
S32: I think you might have been betteroff with 2 vowels, instead of that suicidal consonant. Almost had that fight too, if only vowel had not flown out in the second fight.
-
Great fights.
Can't wait for the next set of vids, should be some awesome fights there :)
-
I've told you I'm good with SNS.
No, Cocytus just sucks.
-
haha lol
-
Wow, I get ACAMS next. Whats more shocking is that, I might win.
-

I think you're right.
And I think I will be able to win my next fight against Gears your Lever, it looks like my weapons are higher than theirs are.
-
Wow, I get ACAMS next. Whats more shocking is that, I might win.
In my testing SCv3 I battled Epic, and one thing is sure.....it will most likely be a very boring match. Even when epic did get under it was still boring as they eventually locked up and Epic lost a wedge. So, even if you get under and one hit kill.....it will still be boring.......no 4 stars next match!
I would call this b-o-r-i-n-g

AND this too

-
First of all, the match and click's comments where both fine.
- i've been surprised about the effectiveness of face spinners : well built bots there !
-popup are always deadly. a special price for Chirurgical strike.
- the good front protection of Bounty hunter seems to limit the power of it wedge. Is it due to a lack of driving power or is it inherent to such a front ?
-
- the good front protection of Bounty hunter seems to limit the power of it wedge. Is it due to a lack of driving power or is it inherent to such a front ?
Second answer. Caster armored wedges are not easy to climb, especially by another wedge.
-
Popups have always been deadly and Surgical Strike looks like a good one, one of several in this tournament. I too enjoyed reading the comments and the vids were awesome too. Glad people still play this game and have not let it die like some older games.
-
All of the mods and these tournaments are part of why I still play it, even though I think I got the game in 2003 or 2004.
-
I've told you I'm good with SNS.
I can guarantee that you will lose your next match.
-

Epic is much larger than SS, mostly because I built it off snappers (SS that is).
But it still could go either way.
-
Next match: MiDF
Result: Dead.
-
Somebody in Agreement: Completely
I think my chances are okay against Seism 13. It will either go as an epic failure for Chernobyl, or be close such as the BBEANS 1 championship, with me winning.
I will give it 65/35 chance for the closeness.
-
The last half of the round 2 winner's bracket is up, and I can guarantee you that NOBODY got all their predictions right. There was one HUGE upset this round, as well as several very close fights that everyone expected to be one-sided.
Also,
Good fights all-around, but R4's performance kind of concerns me. In AI testing against Borg Queen, it was barely able to scratch R4, let alone bash its front in. Hopefully that's just attributed to the fact that Gut Ripper has a long reach, because the weapons seemed to be firing prematurely.
Also, Vowel = O:
I didn't touch the AI you sent me for R4; it's all yours. I could have changed it to Popup.py to fix the premature firing issue, but I figured that with 20 razors it doesn't matter so much if they get hit from firing early. If you want, I can still change it to Popup.
-
I'm pretty surprised that Heaven's Sawmill and Bumblebee lost. I'll post my predictions soon for round 3.
-
Well, what did you know. I expected to lose 2-1 and I did. Sweetness.
Beautiful flip in the round 2 restart.
-
Round 3 predictions
45-70 Magnum: It's all based on the wedge. I'm just taking a wild guess since ACAMS is ranked #1 for BBEANS.
R4: Hellbringer lacks a wedge.
Copyright Infringement: Meh... this was a hard choice. Copyright Infringement is a weak HS and I'm not sure if No Hype would flip it out of the Arena, but Copyright Infringement is still a Horizontal Spinner and hard to get a hold of.
Bounty Hunter: That SnS won't work this time as Bounty Hunter is castor armored. Rammer will suicide as usual.
Seism 13: Seism is doing great. After the two bots it just beat, I'm pretty sure it can beat the Emancipator.
Pita 8: Another tough decision for me. A castor front gives Pita my vote.
Shadow Tyrant: Shadow has 6 ramplates and 4 wedges, so losing them isn't much of a problem. Also, TBP isn't very strong anyways.
Death Dealer: It's pretty much NWB vs any spinner. NWB usually loses.
-
Seeing some of these great bots lose makes me feel better about how well I do in here...
-
Honestly there were no really boring matches.
Most were either good or awesome - Stratocaster flying, PitA 8 kicking ass like i didn't expected, Redline did pretty well too, Cheap Win 3000 losing to a failure of a complex spinner, Seism 13 being epic, what else ??
And these flippers are full of win.
-
Guess it's what really should be expected from the Winner's Bracket. The best meeting the best for theoretically the best matches.
-
Well I'm glad that poor old Stratocaster put up a good fight, better than I expected against Neglected Water Knives... Hoping to do better in the losers bracket.
-
:O I won???!!
I wasn't expecting that at all...
-
Well, the matches were good and shocking but the loser's bracket will be iffy in enjoyment value. I just hope Click posts the ranks up when he posts the matches for the loser's bracket.
-
In a way H@z, I knew that your bot would win the whole time, because adding stuff like snow plows or Ramplates to a wedge reduces wedgeness.
-
I'm not liking my chances in the losers bracket. ill most likely win against Dark July, but after that; its all downhill.
-
I'm confident that I will win my next fight, and I might be able to beat grinnin face, Hellbringer, but Oscillation will probably beat me.
-
Heh. I don't like my chances against AC but i think i can win a match.
Or two.
-
Oh good news everyone, Now I'm against Starcore. Well BBEANS5, it was nice knowing you.
-
If I am right, I think that I am facing Revenge of Dr. Wham.
And on Click's failed topic change. I think that the KE of sledgehammers is one of those gone by the wayside/lost in the ages knowledge tips.
-
Ooh. Got a bye this time. Hope I win the next round, though. I hate my wedge. >.<
-
PREDICTIONS TIME !
45-70 Magnum over SurgicalStrike because Magnum's wedges have more reach. If Magnum wins however, yawn fest alert.
R4 over Hellbringer because of the wedge and speed difference. R4 will get easily under Hellbringer and dismantle him.
Copyright Infringement over No Hype 5 because it will probably take a lot of flips for No Hype to get CI OOTA, if it can. And by that time No Hype 5 will be heavily damaged.
Bounty Hunter over Cocytus IV because Bounty Hunter has speed for it, and Scrap did said that one of the wedges is AGOD.
Seism 13 over The Emancipator because Seism 13 is doing awesome now and he won't be stopped by a VS. Speed and longer wedges will help, and maybe the actuated wedge...
Absolutely no idea for my match.
Shadow Tyrant over the black plague because a well armored and fast enough popup can get under a complex HS with failed weapon heads like that.
Losers bracket...
Dark July over Blood Shed because of more weapons and no normals. Most boring match of BBEANS5 yet and ending by WBP's for DJ.
Anti-Christ over The Fang brothers... obviously.
Generic Ram over Shock Therapy because of more weapons. Another yawn fest.
Mace in da face over 'Eavy Metal Boi because Venko out-weapons his opponent.
Acupuncture over Red Radar because ice picks fail on VS when placed that way. Also Acupuncture is just better built and it has a longer wedge, means it will get under the VS.
Second round...
Vela over Triple Play... that is obvious.
Spearhead over Black Cat Magic... Black Cat Magic is too weak and slow to get under Spearhead and gut-rip it. Probably a Mutant Dragonfly 3 VS FarCry match.
Oscillation Overthruster over grinnin face... one average HW HS and a near middleweight HS. What else?
gears your lever over Gut Ripper 2 because of more total weapon hitpoints, plus complex spinner wiring fail. Iron placement on GyL is a fail too though.
Trojan Horse over Sandstorm because oh the wedge difference.
...and i'm lazy to finish them.
-
gears your lever over Gut Ripper 2 because of more total weapon hitpoints, plus complex spinner wiring fail. Iron placement on GyL is a fail too though.
But it does look like my weapons are placed higher so I might be able to hit the chassis instead of gyl's weapons.
Although, you are one of the top 3 builders on here and I suck at Stock so I might be wrong....
-
Nary = not top three
-
I think he based it on the BBEANS standings, but Naryar won in DSL tourneys. :P
-
This is stock.
-
I just think that he is one of the best builders on here, although I could of said top 5 or top 10 and it might of been better.
-
top 3 stock = pys, you and inf.
but i might be... say, 6th ?
-
You're top-10. Not close to top-3 though.
ANYWAYS, lets get back on topic.
-
I'm obviosly top 5.
-
Psy, Inf, Star, Click, SD, Sage, Nary, R0B0, ACAMS, Giga, Venko (Violin), Red, Fire, Barbie, Pwn, 407, Tank, Me, Manu and Hydro.
I think that is for stock...
-
Yeah well for the first time in four years of me entering tournaments i have been predicted to win one!!!
-
Psy, Inf, Star, Click, SD, Sage, Nary, R0B0, ACAMS, Giga, Venko (Violin), Red, Fire, Barbie, Pwn, 407, Tank, Me, Manu and Hydro.
I think that is for stock...
*Sniff* Wha 'bout meeee?
And I'm pretty sure that FB is batter than Gig, & ACAMS is better than R0B0.
-
We need to make a thread about bot building rank. both stock and DSL.
-
yay! i have a rank!!!
-
Yeah, last.
-
I always thought I was underrated as a builder since I'm pretty new.
-
but still there... i'm happy as long as it is in fact a rank.
-
Man Manu > Hydro both at stock and DSL.
-
whatever. i'm happy that i have a rank.
-
You forgot me :( I may not build alot, but I sure make good ones when I do, all that is left for me to learn is making good wedges....
-
Rejected, Spawngeek & Foolishevil have not built a bot in 3 or 4 years, but are still better builders than most.........so don't forget it!
And this is BBEANS, so move it to general.
-
The order of the list is personal perspectives and will of course change over time with past veterans that should not be forgotten.
Thank you for even considering me on the list and giving me the level of rating granted.
Saying that, yes builder rating should be a separate discussion and we should get this thread back to BBEANS.
Starcore
-
Why can't I have a little fun ACAMS? He deserves and you know it! :P
I laugh at me being higher than Sage on that list. Actually, I laugh at the thought of a list.
-
So back to BBEANS stuff.. I've been predicted to do well in almost all of the matches/tournaments i have entered, but this has never worked out the way people assumed. So far in BBEANS5 this trend has continued against a rammer's worst nightmare.
-
Hello everybody, sorry for the absense been away. and phlox is unlikely to go here unless i tell him to nowadays, appologies for not entering :(
i haven't seen the vidoes yet but click and psy look to have done pretty good jobs.
but it is stock, HS spinners and poppers are likely to be pretty rife.
maybe i'll stick around.
-
YAY

The best stock builders being as modest as possible in no particular order are:
Myself
Sage
Pysc
Clickbeetle
Firebeetle
ACAMS
Starcore
Scrap Daddy
R0B0SH4RK
Naryar

For me, Bounty hunter and No Hype 5 are mine favorites to win

and that is Why Inf ain't a good idea for a mod.

Okay. Give me three good reasons why he isn't the best.

err back on topic
this is my first BBEANS so I dont know much on how it is ran, does the losers bracket start after the winners bracket? or part way though?
also I just started watching some videos from round 2 and that is one powerful flipper for a stock bot Philetbabe I guess if my bot did beat Sandstorm it was guaranteed to loose via flip out
-
R0B0, I was looking at the modest part....
-
Here are preidictions who I think will win in losers bracket round 1 and winners bracket round 3.
Losers bracket round 1
Blood Shed
The Fang brothers
Shock Therapy
Eavy Metal Boi
Red rader
winners bracket round 3
Surgical Strike
HellBringer
No Hype 5
Cocytus lV
The Emancipator
PitA 8
Shadow Tyrant
Crawl though Knives V 4.2

it's funny, but all of your predictions are the opposite of Naryar's ones. !
it should be interesting to comment them shortly.

All of them are different? I'm thinking it's a set up...
-
It's been a bit of a delay, I know, but I got the first set of loser's bracket matches up!
No matches that are particularly noteworthy unless you're one of the competitors, but you gotta get through rounds like this to get to the good stuff later on.
Also, now that we're done with round 2 and all the bots have fought at least once, I got some tournament rankings started! (http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/bbeans/tournament.htm) These rankings will determine who gets to participate in the rumble (with the added bonus of making my job easier when I have to add BBEANS5 data to the cumulative ranking).
Unless you're ACAMS, MikeNCR, or Naryar, of course, in which case you'll automatically get to participate in the special Champion's Rumble with the BBEANS5 winner as the fourth entry. There won't be any prizes or anything awarded for this, but with three former champions and one champion-to-be, I just have to put them all in the arena at the same time and see what happens, right?
Obviously, the rankings will contain spoilers from the most recent videos I posted, so watch any matches you want first before checking them.
-
Boring to Good fights I admit, I'm just glad mine was enjoyable and entertaining. The next matches I think will be interesting for at least half of the fights.
-
and immmm out. well I suppose that's what you get for entering a bot when you only had the game for a month or two, all that protection was quite useless with out the weaponry.
-
At least I'm not in the bottom of the rankings. I just hope that I can get a better ranking after this tournament than my current one.
-
shouldn't the loser brackets be done at the end?
-
most early matches are always dull or one sided so I guess by getting some of the losers bracket out of the way it will come to the point of only good matches rather then dull, good, dull, good.
-
And... i'm FIRST ON THE RANKINGS!!! YAYYY !!
Won't probably stay here for long but... not bad.
And also...
Losers bracket round 1
Blood Shed
The Fang brothers
Shock Therapy
Eavy Metal Boi
Red rader

Comment: All false.

Well I hope not all the Loser's Bracket videos are boring. T-800 needs to fight his way out of the losers bracket. Or be found defective and shipped back to Skynet to be turned into scrape metal and reforged anew...

Yeah, the 2nd round of the loser's bracket shouldn't be so bad. This is when the mostly good, but unluckly bots show up, as you probably knew anyway.
Looking at the brackets, it might be a bit bumpy in the round after the next for me. Generic Rammer should be easy, but Three Kings doesn't look like it'll lose against Juggernaut, and that's a worry after AC. Atleast the back is exposed. If I win somehow, either Cocytus IV or Bounty Hunter will fight BFR. More worried about Cocytus, because my wedge tweaking was a 2 minute job. If the multibot tactics work though, might be easy.
-
Uh-oh. If I win, I'm gonna face another multibot (if it wins). >.<
-
Uh-oh. If I win, I'm gonna face another multibot (if it wins). >.<
Well, atleast have a chance of racking up some points. If you target that rammer, atleast. Depends with the popup.
-
Yeah. Do note that Trojan Horse was a semi-joke bot because I had to concentrate on my exams. :P
But don't worry. I have my BBEANS6 entry ready. >:)
-
Looks like some-one forgot his synopsises.
Anyways, I will check the fights out for SFTW on SFTW ACTION!
EDIT: Fights are okay. Mace in da Face vs. 'Eavy Metal Boi was, predictable to say the least.
-
WOOT! Number 3!
-
17th. Decent considering I had to put up with AC in my 2nd round.
-
I seriously think I might lose to AoR. And if I do win, I'll be up against either MidF or C/V who I have no chace against. > <
-
MiDF.
Inless I'm lucky....
-
T800 Terminator vs Stratocaster... I lose again. Chalk another tournament up for a loss for me.
-
Im fighting Bumblebee next...
-
Im fighting Bumblebee next...
It's like one of the few bots your bot stands a chance against. Aslong as Bumblebee allows you underneath it...
-
I am pleased to be ranked #5, but a lot of Amazing bots got the "first round bye". If those bots had fought 2 matches, my ranking would be far lower. I am anticipating falling to Robosh4rk in the next round anyways. Hellbringer does not fare well against popups, the only chance I have is if my irons can nip off those big juicy extenders when they see the light of day.
Meh, I respect Robosh4rk anyways... don't mind losing to him.
-
i got really bad matchups this tourny. crap.
EDIT: nvm. tsunami isnt wedgy enough.

I dub it PFTE - Popup from the East.

i cannot explain how i feel right now
-
i cannot explain how i feel right now
Well if it makes you feel any better... your bot looks decent enough. The BBEANS arena is not rammer friendly at all. Because of the structure in the middle, I noticed that most of the rammer AI just does not have enough time to turn and pick up speed to be effective. I bet your bot would have done well in a different arena with more open space, just not this one. I think the only way that a rammer could do well in this tourney was if the AI was programmed to make the bot retreat to the corner first and then charge. If the opposing bot was slow enough, there would be some time to get a decent "ram" out of the impact.
Hey, better luck in future tournaments.
-
I dub it PFTE - Popup from the East.
^win :D
I can't see The Emancipator beating Seism 13 so it looks like the loser's bracket for me after this...
-
i got really bad matchups this tourny. crap.
EDIT: nvm. tsunami isnt wedgy enough.
Even I beat the damn thing [and I also wound up against the SFTW of BBEANS 4...], don't worry about it you will be fine.
-
thats what everyone thought last round.
-
thats what everyone thought last round.
That's when everyone thought it was "cheap win 3000"... Heck I think even some of the stubborn ones still think it is CW3K. Honestly, I don't think that Tsunami stands a chance in heck against your bot. But, I am glad you lost the first round because now everyone has pretty much left you (and your bot's sexual preference) alone.
-
I dub it PFTE - Popup from the East.
I'm gonna enter the next BBEANS, with a better bot
-
I'm gonna enter the next BBEANS, with a better bot
Cool. :) Should be easier to make a 'good' bot too, with DSL LWs following realistic rules.
-
Thanks!
-
I've entered good bots into several tournaments including RAW and BBEANS 3 and 5 to no avail.
-
Wow dex, thats 2 bad breaks in BBEANS now. As of now, you have my BTRSHD... blah blah blah vote
-
DSL LW's are really hard to make killers, unless heavies.
-
No offense but BloodShed isnt really a cutting edge design deserving to win an award like that.. That award goes to someone that made a really good bot and lost by horrible luck.
-
*Halo over head*
-
As of now pyscolone, maybe not at the end of the tourney. So far, it is the best bot that has lost both matches so far.
-
i wish loser brackets were done last...
-
i wish loser brackets were done last...
Uh, they are.
Winners bracket, losers bracket. winner's bracket, loser's bracket.
Unless you meant at the very end of the tourney, but then there's going to be quite a few bots out of action for a month or so. That shouldn't happen. Also the overall winner of the loser's bracket is meant to face off against the winner of the winner's bracket for the title. If the loser's bracket wasn't done in conjunction with the winner's bracket, then that'd make things technically but needlessly slow.
-
All right everyone, I got the first half of the round 3 loser's brackets up!
I was actually ready to post this yesterday, but I got a 500 Internal Server Error when I tried to come here. Go figure.
There are some more exciting matches this time, and only one bad apple (but that was due to Havok explosions and no fault of the bots themselves).
-
Nice fights, and some suprises.
-
HAHAHAHA !!! Somebody lost to Wham !!
Also i did laughed at Antichrist VS Vetearn Destroyer.
-
that was some good fights.

Commence screaming of the words 'DARN IT!'... in 3...2...1...

Oh my!!!!!!!!!!!
And the frontrunner for BTRED blah blah blah emerges... mwahahahah
If your bot had irons that would not have happened. Ah the irony.
-
Lame pun detected.
-
Was going to say "solid match for BFR" but after seeing the video the 3 starred-ness shines through. Kinda boring but a good result..
-
Oh, well.... Nice try, SB.
(SB, save the imperative, expletive linguistics for some other thread, than CB's.)
-
I was actually ready to post this yesterday, but I got a 500 Internal Server Error when I tried to come here. Go figure.
Funny I had the same problem yesterday too.
Just saw matches, most were okay but I not excited for mine during the next round because one of Urjak's multibots is a damn pop-up. Acupuncture maybe be better than Juggernaut due to its wedge and having more spikes up front but I still don't like my chances.
Oh well, at least maybe a few of the other matches will be good.
-
Changed it, cuz oh my sounds kinda weird

Darn, I lost again.

Revenge of Dr Wham needs to get rid of that plow.....it never did damamge till it got knocked off.
Eeeh, it's too late now. Just like me finding out part of BFR's skin is technically unfinished (right side) Or otherwise I just decided it could of been better.
-
Hey guys, is there a trick to watching the videos?
I get a long loading page then WinAmp tries to load but fails. :(
-
I just use WMA and it works fine.
-
I got screwed in both rounds. NWB Clone and then T800 vs Strat....... Basically the worst draws possible for me besides a popup. BTSHDBBDDTBL perhaps?
-
Well... RIP Generic Rammer. I honestly didn't expect him to get to round 3, so I consider this a success. :icon_twisted: There's always BBEANS six!
-
Predictions, Winners bracket:
45-70 Magnum v. SurgicalStrike
Winner: SurgicalStrike
- The bot with the best wedges will win out here. SS gets the edge because it's faster, and better speed usually equals better wedges.
Hellbringer v. R4
Winner: R4
- R4 is faster, has more weapons, is more destructive, and has wedges on its side. A 1-hit KO would also be nice.
No Hype 5 v. Copyright Infringement
Winner: Copyright Infringement
- No Hype 5 does have a fighting chance, but it's DDT's are mighty exposed, and any touch will limit their power. CI will disarm it, then grind away.
Bounty Hunter v. Cocytus IV
Winner: Bounty Hunter
- Speed plays a large role again, but BH is just more nimble than the sluggish juggler. That being said, CIV is a well-built bot, any any AI miscue by BH could spell the end.
Seism 13 v. The Emancipator
Winner: Seism 13
- VS's have below-average wedges by default, so Seism will easily scoop up TE and continue it's impressive run.
PitA 8 v. Absolute Chaos
Winner: Absolute Chaos
- Popups have spelt certain death for 36HS's so far, but PitA 8 has one design flaw that the others do not: a very steep front wedge. AC should grind away in some long, drawn out matches.
The Black Plague v. Shadow Tyrant
Winner: Shadow Tyrant
- ST is perhaps the most heavily-armoured bot in BBEANS 5, and it's also destructive. This combo really dosen't bode well for the lethargic TBP.
Crawl Through Knives 4.2 v. Death Dealer
Winner: Death Dealer
- This will be a close match, but CTK just isn't fast enough to combat DD. However, CTK is well-armoured, so it has a chance.
EDIT:
Predictions, Losers Bracket:
Mjorhmei v. T-800 Terminator
Winner: T-800 Terminator
- T-800 just has too many weapons. Mjorhmei's only chance is an OOTA, but it might not even make it far enough to get one.
Vetearn Destroyer v. Bumble Bee GHEEEEEEEEEEEY
Winner: Bumble Bee GHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEYYY
- BB should just dance on VD's chassis, but VD is quick. 2 OOTA's aren't out of the question.
Big Flip's Revenge v. Three Kings
Winner: Big Flip's Revenge
- 3K's back is exposed, and we saw in the last fight that one BFR always attacks from the rear. 3K does have an advantage the longer the match goes though.
Heaven's Sawmill v. Revenge of Dr. Wham
Winner: Revenge of Dr. Wham
- HS has pretty awful wedges, and RoDW has good ones. RoDW's plow tends to get in the way, so there could be a whole lot of nothing going on for a whole lot of time.
-
Those losers bracket fights were pretty good.
I just hope that I can finally beat something that isn't a SFTW [My only wins are against NOS-BOT and Tsunami!] in my next fight.
-
i do like the match "Revenge Of Dr. Wham vs. Chernobyl "
very balanced with 2 really differents bots.
it seems the Revenge Of Dr. Wham is self-handicapped with its snow plow, the bot starts to fight only once its plow is destroyed... or probldem with 'too short' custom zone ?
-
Did, i just win????
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(If its ok Click would you move the smart zone forward a bit, so that it will work once a bot goes on the wedge)
EDIT: I just realised that RODW is probably my first robot not to have blue involeved with skinning, OMG, ITS A CRIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
English or Engrish...
...Hard to say.
Of all the underweights, I like Whammet's bot the best. Mark's grinnin face comes close.
-
ahhhhh this is taking forever, damned 64 slot
-
ahhhhh this is taking forever, damned 64 slot
Well, it really needed more people to be effective... hm. Oh well.
-
"patience young skywalker"
-
Hmm,id say, 1000-1 on my bot winning in the next round.
-
Actually, seeing how The Baby Warrior's wedge actually got under one of Heaven's Sawmill's wedge (i think round 3), i think you can do it...
-
I bet £1
-
Meh, im still not confident, i has 0% self confidence :P
-
im screwed against vela. looks like a double failure for me. :-/
-
is CB really busy or something? haven't seen an update recently
-
Yeah I've been rather busy, there have been Family Activities every weekend for the past four weeks, which is normally the time when I can get the most fight recording done. Fortunately, there's no more stuff happening in the near future, so the pace should start picking up.
Also, here's an update. The other half of the round 3 loser's bracket is up!
-
Darn. Multibot again. >.<
Oh well, gotta test my next entry when I have the time. XD
[Edit] I never knew my bot could throw bots THAT high! Or is it because of the enhanced DDTs (I'm not even sure they exist)? o_O
-
those were some great fights. my favorites were trojan horse v.s. sandstorm and gears your levers v.s. gut ripper 2
-
Damn, well there's always next season.
I think that some the matches next round will be better at least for the winner's bracket.
-
YES! I won!
All of the fights were pretty good again.
-
Wow... poor Reier. He lost to a SFTW entry...
-
>X( Darnnn ittttttt
Maybe I'll win the BTRSHDBBDDTBL. =P
I made CA in a rush, It's wheel setup almost magnifies it's front-heaviness.
-
And that was so damn easy to rotate 2 notches these side extenders to make the irons work as stabilizers...
EDIT: Predictions time !
T-800 Terminator over Mjorhmei: T800 is simply too well built. It will slowly rip off the VS's wedges and finally the chassis.
Bumble Bee over Vetearn Destroyer: Most likely VD will get under CW3K... the hammer will be useless there. I'll laugh if Sage loses though.
Big Flip's Revenge over Three Kings: Yes multibot popups hate HW HS. However, one of the popups will most likely backstab 3K and the other one won't be too much damaged because of 3K's weapon setup.
Revenge of DR.Wham over Heaven's Sawmill: I DID saw The Baby Warrior's wedge get under HS's left one. If a SFTW can go under Click's bot, Wham can probably get under too...
Mace in da face over Insult to Injury V: ItI V isn't fast enough and powerful enough to get MidF OOTA.
DgsG?/IdRodI? over Trojan Horse: HW popups doesn't like multibots... If Urjak's popup gets under TH, things might get dire for Pwn. However i don't know why someone skilled like Urjak came with such a failure of a rammer... If Pwn can get under Urjak's popup first, TH can win that fight. Pwn still has a handicap, because Trojan Horse is made for duels, not melees.
OOT over Gut Ripper 2: Out-weaponing, that is all.
Spearhead over Vela: Unlike Alterer's bot, Spearhead is powerful enough and fast enough to pierce it's opponent HS defenses... i can see Vela losing it's wheels easily.
-
Aww man. All I needed was one more hit on the last round...
-
can somebody upload these to youtube when it is done. much easier than to have to download each one.
-
Since when do you download them??
-
looks like me and somebody will be in 47th for the full BBEANS rankings..... Hmm.
-
Since when do you download them??
When you don't use firefox.
-
Aww man. All I needed was one more hit on the last round...
Yeah, but it was a good fight.
But id didn't really matter who won this one, both of us would have gotten our ass kicked by OO.
-
I don't, and don't have ta download them.
-
I don't have to download them either.
-
I do. Windows Media Player (the old one, actually) tries to stream it otherwise. And we all know that Windows Media Player sucks at streaming.
-
When you don't use firefox.
I use firefox, but I like that it takes too long for the matches to load when I just open them in new tabs, so I download them.
-
If my computer let me download them, I would.
-
Right-click, "save target as". That should let you. I've saves my 2 figths that way.
-
It's grayed out for me.
-
Click I think you got my rank wrong, unless each of the multibots count as a KO.
I got a KO on both in the first round, lost in the second, then knocked out one of them and got a WBP in the third round.
-
Joe, Click probably didn't count the WBP points in the third round for you because its kinda unfair. The same is true with Duck who only knocked one of the two multibots in two of his fights with Manu, if you check his rankings.
-
how is it unfair?
-
Click I think you got my rank wrong, unless each of the multibots count as a KO.
I got a KO on both in the first round, lost in the second, then knocked out one of them and got a WBP in the third round.
Each bot in the cluster does count as a KO. So if you KO both, you get 2 KO's for that round. I just don't count WBP's if you KO'd at least one of the bots.
Oh, and the winner's bracket round 3 is up now! Basically what you'd expect for the winner's bracket: lots of good fights, and some surprises.
-
AC round 1... 79000 points!!! :O
-

where can we find the the videos for the matches???
-
Front page.
Another thing is why do I keep getting the short end of the stick? Three vets in a row! And next is R4. I think I might be smocked.
-
Front page.
wow I feel slow it's in Big bold print to lol
-
Wow! some amazing matches there.
Congrats Scrap on your victory against an almighty popup.
Bravo Roboshark with your popup... you destroyed my bot rather amazingly.
To the losers bracket I go... probably against Starcore. I have faced him once with Hellbringer before and didn't fare well then. Probably will not do any better this time either.
-
Another thing is why do I keep getting the short end of the stick? Three vets in a row! And next is R4. I think I might be smocked.
Hey, I wouldn't call going 3-0 with 7 KO's "the short end of the stick". That's a pretty impressive run.
What I find amusing is Seism 13's opponents. First Mace in da face, then Chernobyl, and next round, Absolute Chaos! It's had to fight all three of the 36-mace spinners in the tournament. I would call it bad luck, except for how thoroughly Seism 13 owned those bots.
I gotta say the bot with the worst luck would be Cardiac Arrest. Vertical spinners are not friendly to rammers, and CA got two of them.
-
I honestly have no idea how I won. I was looking at the losers bracket and though i was going to go 1-2 because I would be raped by Bounty Hunter and the BFR.
Did I get under him or did something weird happen?
-
Was there a way to make up for lost possible wins with the bye round? or was that something we gave up by automatically winning?
-
Strat had bad luck too
-
I honestly have no idea how I won. I was looking at the losers bracket and though i was going to go 1-2 because I would be raped by Bounty Hunter and the BFR.
Did I get under him or did something weird happen?
You got under Bounty Hunter in two of the three fights. I was surprised too; I thought for sure Bounty Hunter had better wedges and would easily get under Cocytus.
Was there a way to make up for lost possible wins with the bye round? or was that something we gave up by automatically winning?
There is no way to get "makeup wins". I'd like to have some way for bots to benefit more from byes, but I can't think of anything fair and effective. I used to give bots a free win in BBEANS1, but decided that wasn't really very fair.
Actually, never mind, I just thought of something while I was typing that. I could possibly have a really tough bot, like AC or Bumble Bee or something, and have bots fight it in the bye round. You'll automatically advance to the next round, but you'll only get a win on your record if you beat it (if you lose, then nothing happens.)
I could even still do it for this tournament, maybe have all the bots that got byes fight the champion after it's over for a chance at extra wins. Unless the champion got a bye, then that might get complicated. Thoughts?
-
Make the bots that got a bye fight the champion
-
Make the bots that got a bye fight the champion
QFT, cause it's what i was gonna say.
-
maybe have the bye bots face a random draw out of the top 8/16 finishers
-
Again, that was some awesome fights
-
Strat had bad luck too
Stratocaster will strike it rich soon believe me, mine did well in a jazz concert
a couple weeks ago.
-
Juggler.. Only bot that rapes BH >< I was kinda expecting it though because of Cocty's slow drive, it would be at an angle that BH would bounce alittle and be doomed by the spinners.
good matchs though
-
These were very good fights. I am impressed with R1885 (Best Rookie, maybe) and I am also surprised that Bounty Hunter lost. For the next round of the loser's bracket, I think it will good but there maybe a dud or two.
-
I hate horizontal spinners.
Venko now... great (sarcastic tone). I just hope i can get at these lower tribars just like FB did.
-
You have a better shot at Venko than you did at AC because of the way the maces are mounted. I think you can beat MidF.
-
I gotta say the bot with the worst luck would be Cardiac Arrest. Vertical spinners are not friendly to rammers, and CA got two of them.
=D IDK, CA was pretty bad IMO.
-
I don't think Cardiac Arrest was bad. It was to me the second best rammer that was entered. You and Kill got very unlucky in the match-ups was what happened.
-
CA will probably get the BTSHDBBDDTBD thing.
Predictions time!
R4 over SurgicalStrike because an overlapped popup made on snappers isn't as wedgy as a good ol popup made on the baseplate. Also rubbers.
Copyright Infringement over Cocytus IV... Cocytus is too slow to gut rip that 36-weapon HS. CE will shred the ramplates and the chassis for the win.
Seism 13 over Absolute Chaos... FB's popup proved his worth by easily destroying 2 36-mace HS in a row. Why can't it hit on another ?
-
Great fights. And like I have said before I wish I could download that music.
-
Great fights. And like I have said before I wish I could download that music.
Sure you can. Download one of the videos that has the full song in it, then rip the music off it with some freeware program.

Well, he released the BBEANS4 music after it was done, he'll probably do it again.
And Sage, it'll have the battle clash sounds in the backround, so that won't work.
-
I have no idea how I won.
Great effort though Nary. Still love the bot.
-

ah, true.
-
R4 over SurgicalStrike because an overlapped popup made on snappers isn't as wedgy as a good ol popup made on the baseplate. Also rubbers.
-
I have no idea how I won.
I did placed PitA's smartzone way too forward. And the steep wedge makes this even worse...
______
Oh and Ribbs even if it's not on snappers... it's still on burst motors, that means it wobbles slightly, and this lowers the wedginess compared to a bot with drive directly attached to the baseplate.
Ask Sage.
-

Depends on the bot. Most of the time, I much prefer baseplate attached drive for my popups and hammers, but in other cases wedges can be good even if attached to a burst. But only in some cases.
-
In the whole unluckiness debate, don't forget that Chernobyl got 2 straight popups (after an easy match), one of which is a proven 36HS killer.
-
Yeah, but your somebody, and we can't really give you that award due to our sect.
-
BTSHDBBDDTBL goes to Reier.
Seriously, he got 2 vertical spinners AND lost to one of the SFTW's because it was a VS...
-
yeah, a VS. Wow!
Instead of not calling the bot a STFW entry anymore, Reier gets that BB thingy award.
-
I lost, my bot wasn't prepared for a popup I guess
-
damn it, a double fail for me. oh well, there's always next bbeans...
-
Wow, I thought since I'd been gone so long, that my bot would have been eliminated by now, but I'm still in the winners brackets! Not for much longer, I bet.
-
Wow. I got owned. Hopefully I can win at least one more fight in the losers bracket before I'm eliminated...
Can anything stop Seism 13??
-
Awesome. I hope Click releases Seism 13's AI when this is done. :D
[Edit] I'm pretty sure I'll lose to the popup, but not the rammer. If Urjee wins, he faces you. XD
-
Round 4 loser's bracket is up!
And boy, there was one MAJOR upset this round. I don't want to give anything away, but this is one fight you can't miss.
-
ItI gets my vote as best rookie
-
^Seconded. Holy cow...
Ooooh I got Pwnator next round. Should be interesting.
-
Venko is not going to be happy.
-
Venko needed a reality check.
*Edited
-
ARGGHHHH!!! >< >< ><
EDIT: LOL at venko.
-
I saw two big upsets not one, personally.
I think the next round will be great (there three I really want to see), although one match will be predictable for the next round.
-
ARGGHHHH!!! >< >< ><
??? You won your fight, you know... it was close but you won.
I saw two big upsets not one, personally.
Not sure what you're talking about. Heaven's Sawmill vs. Revenge Of Dr. Wham? Spearhead vs. Vela? The palindromes vs. Trojan Horse? Mildly surprising, but any of those fights could have gone either way.
But something like Insult to Injury vs. MIDF hasn't been seen since razor guy vs. Rampant Puppy Love. I think Alterer of Reality now has a good shot at Best Rookie... makes me want to try and improve ItI's design.
-
??? You won your fight, you know... it was close but you won.
No, I was just unhappy because I easily could have gotten a KO instead of a WBP if there was more time, and I'm just mad I got flipped over the wall again.
-
OH NO I DIDN'T. :O
I love it when I piled the bots in the first match. XD
Oh, what's wrong with IDRODI?
H@z, we're still dead when either of us wins this round. :P
-
Ahahaha... we all thought that was a SFTW, and especially Venko that DID created a song... so ironic... !!!
I just hope i don't lose to AoR. I know Pysc did raped him before and i think i'm going to repeat the thing, but you never know :O
Anyways i did told that Wham was going to win.
-

The matches I was referring to were yours and Venkos. I guess upset is the wrong word to use. I think shocking is a better term in that while I did not think either of you to get a clean sweep, it makes me think "wow I didn't expect that to happen, I need to watch the match again". All other matches were pretty much fair game, either way wouldn't have been a shocker.
As for Alterer of Reality for best rookie, its a little too early for me to jump on that bandwagon. Now, if he beats Naryar in even in one match :-D; I wouldn't hesitate to climb on board.
-
Can't wait for S13 vs. AC! :D
*still recovering from AoR's impact*
-
Oh, what's wrong with IDRODI?
Heroin.
-
Heaven's Sawmill is the coolest bot. ItI might be the best rookie. It should be called SFTW's Revenge instead.
-
I feel awesome.
Anyway, ITI (abbreviated) owns.
-
I don't feel to confident against 2 popups ><
-
HAH!
Insult to Injury rapes.
-
Insult to injury: Best STFW EVAR!
-
At least I knocked off most of the razors in the first round...
-
I don't feel to confident against 2 popups ><
Oh, interesting.
Like before it depends on how your bot reacts to them. Your bot probably gonna pack more punch then Trojan Horse, so if one goes, it shouldn't be too hard from there. Unless a minute worth of wedge tweaking.. well.. 'pays' off.
-
Wow O_o I wasn't expecting ITI to win.
-
HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I BEAT CLICKBEETLE!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Flipper next, looks good, especially those wedges, brrrr...
-
Honestly Wham, it would've been a bigger suprise to me if Click beat you.
-
That was some awesome fights. My favorite fight was revenge of Dr. wham v.s. Heaven's sawmill
-
Thanks :) lol
-
As much as I want AC to win, it wont.
How about a ItI improvement contest?
-
Goodbye BBEANS5. I'll see you on the other side of the wall.
-
Hopefully ITI won't get the best rookie award, the award I'm gunning for :-D
-
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/29219ItI.jpg)
-
i'll makea 4WD ItI.
-
So, Will this bot be another meme?
-
Might be a minor meme... but in no way that can get even 1/3 as famous as SFTW.
-
Depends on how it is done.
-
Might be a minor meme... but in no way that can get even 1/3 as famous as SFTW.
I'd say 2/3 as famous. It's a VSFTW. That actually WINS. Frequently. Atleast in this tourney.
-
I think Revenge of Doctor Wham can go all the way.
-
I think Revenge of Doctor Wham can go all the way.
Not really. If he beats No Hype, he gets either Big Flip's Revenge or Bounty Hunter.
BFR would most likely ruin RoDW, and BH should be just as competent.
-
^^agreed.
-
And whoever wins THAT match (RoDW vs. BFR or BH) gets to take on AC or Seism right after.
It's gonna be the end of the road. Unless you're/I'm lucky. (Could probably take Seism like BH but another match with AC is not wanted)
-
Well i think PitA can get pretty far if another HS doesn't falls in my bracket. I'm sure about getting 2 straight wins, and am confident about my wedge against Scrap and R0B0/Ribbs.
-
^ Don't be.
-
Accept my deepest apologies, your Highness. I forgot you bear the crown of The Popup Master (TM).

Har har har...
I c wut u did thar :P

RLY ????
-
There's a long way to go before you guys meet up...
PitA 8 vs. R4 Prediction:
Insult to Injury V wins 3-0 with 6 TKOs
-
Ok thats enough, before this becomes a 10 page discussion of ... and ^FAIL.
-
Don't forget one bot gets to climb out of the Loser's Bracket to face the Winner's Bracket Champion.
I am watching closely who T-800 Terminator has to fight in the upcoming matches. Because of how T-800 is designed I don't have alot of hope he can beat Bumble Bee if he has to fight him but I think he can take Hellbringer and 45-70 Magnum. So I am rooting for 45-70 Magnum in his match up with Bumble Bee.
Starcore
-
45-70 Magnum was built to beat spinners, infact I have almost a whole team of AntiSpinner bots if you ever end up needing a team for SCv5
-
I can't wait until the next BBEANS...
-
Has that always been ACAMS' Avatar?
-
No.
Edit: It used to be that robot thingy.

My only hope is if your wedgeless design allows Hellbringer to get under your bot for a decent gut-rip. Otherwise, I feel that T-800 will win. You faced me in the All Around Bot Builder Championship against Hellbringer, and your HS totally owned the match. This time, however, it looks like your bot has a few less weapons. So, I have a miniscule amount of hope.
Best of Luck, may the mightiest bot win!
-
I did some testing of T-800 Terminator vs the Starcore V4 Billy Goat Gruffiest and with long fast charges there were matches where yes the Face Spinner did a great gut-rip and or got the right lucky strikes to take off both of T-800 Terminators wheels early in match. I could be wrong but I think the shape of this arena will help T-800 keep control of the match and rip off Hellbringers Plows and weapons before enough gut ripping occurs.
We will see soon enough. I do wish I had gone with the alternate design of T-800 Terminator with 2 Caster Armor on its belly instead of the twin razor tips as front weapon breakers. Seeing more of a need of bottom protection in these matches...

I can't get my video players to open now, does anyone know how I can fix it so I can watch the next fights when they come out?
-
You didn't give us alot of info of what Video Player you have or what is happening. You could try uninstalling it and reinstalling it.
Or Google VLC, download and install that. Plays most anything.
Starcore
-
I just can't get Windows Media Player, or Quicktime to open when I click on the icon, and I can't get any of the videos I have on my Harddrive to play.
I'll see if the VLC one will work. I had it before but I uninstalled it because I think the tournament videos on here would not play.
Edit: VLC works, but I can not get the tournament videos to start when I click on them using FireFox, IE does work but the quality of the videos isn't as good as it was before.
-
VLC pwns all.

Bounty Hunter
Interesting. Why do you think that?
-
Interesting. Why do you think that?
Bounty Hunter seems to be lower than your bot, Still, it is going to be a really close fight. May the best bot win.
-
I still think the multibots will win. While bounty hunter is focusing on one bot, the other clusterbot will probably get its sides or back.
-
PREDICTIONS
Winner's bracket:
R4 over SurgicalStrike : The best wedge wins, and i am sure The Popup Masterâ„¢ has the best wedges.
Copyright Infringement over Cocytus IV : SD's juggler is just too slow.
Seism 13 over Absolute Chaos : Seism 13 is a pure win. That bot raped 2 36-mace HS in a row, there is no reason it can't take on another, even if better.
Shadow Tyrant over Death Dealer : Do i even need to say it ?
Loser's bracket:
T800 over Hellbringer: JD's bot is just too slow to gut rip Starcore's, and it's out-weaponed as well. It will lose all weapons, then motors, then T800 will munch at the chassis for the win.
CW3K over 45-70 Magnum: 45-70 is too slow AND out-weaponed. (Not a surprise since it's fighting a damn crawler). I'm not sure about this, though, because if Bumble Bee loses enough weapons, it's doomed.
Big Flip's Revenge over Bounty Hunter: Pysc said it himself: multibot popups own unless faced with HS. While one gets probably raped, the other backstabs Bounty Hunter for the win.
Revenge of Dr. Wham over No Hype 5: Emergency wedges VS small wedges pretty much sums it up.
PitA 8 over ROSFTW: Do i even need to say it.
The Emancipator over Trojan Horse: Better wedge, enough said. However, an error into Haz's bot driving gives the win to Pwn... just like when i lost to that damned popup master for the first time.
Crawl Through Knives v4.2 over Oscillation Overthruster : I just have the feeling the NWB ripoff will get under the HS, and gut rip it.
Vela over the black plague: Best build wins here.
-
R4 over SurgicalStrike : The best wedge wins, and i am sure The Popup Master (TM) has the best wedges.
Try Alt+0153, you'll like it.

I'm more worried about it just pushing me off the edge.

Round 5 loser's bracket is up!
There were some amazing fights this round; you guys aren't going to believe what happens.
-
Oh MY GOD.....
-
Haha, top of the leaderboard. That probably won't last long, but who cares? :)
Some surprising outcomes right there.
Also, ITI still owns.

ItI should get best newcomer.

It's like a Teletubby playing the villain in a horror movie. You laugh, then you piss yourself as you die.
-
sh** i lost to a flipper, well, no suprise, those wedges were better. (told ya)

New demotivator idea:
Insult to Injury
You will sh** bricks when you fight it!
Seriously, that match was not logically possible to go that way!

Wow Naryar got pwned!

I'm thinking the 2WD and discs are forcing the front to floor much like a snapper wedge, but then again the Z-teks would really have to be going the other way to push towards the ground.
Or maybe far out wedges like that aren't as good as they seem...
-
HOW THE HELL DID THIS HAPPEN AGAIN!!?!?!??!?!?!?
We should just give up now and give the win to ItI.
-
We should just give up now and give the win to ItI.
Like I said, most fearsome bot.
-
Well now that the cat's out of the bag I can post my observations...
It looks to me like ItI "glitched" under PitA. Or rather, PitA's wedges glitched over ItI's chassis. When the bots first collide, it almost looks like PitA gets under (and in fact it did get under briefly in the first match) but then PitA's wedges sort of "pop" and appear on top of ItI.
I have no idea how exactly it happened, but it's gotta be some sort of glitch, because I don't see how any bot with a plain chassis wedge could get under PitA naturally.
Oh, and also: it wasn't a freak accident either. I did several more matches off the record between PitA and ItI to see how often ItI gets under, and it's about 1 in every 4 or 5 fights. So ItI got lucky, but not unnaturally lucky.
-
That was some awesome fights, there were a few shocks, some of my predictions were off, anyway, Well done to the winners
-
PitA 8 over ROSFTW: Do i even need to say it.
lol.
-
How the **** did that happen?!?!
-
Holy Crap, I did not see that coming. I know who I'm voting for best rookie now, unless ITI wins the championship.
Overall good fights, bet the next fights will be better.
-
sagesythelis (3:30:09 PM): DEAR JESUS

QFT.
Does ItI have ballasts in front? If it doesn't I gonna be more freaked out. :O
I wouldn't be surprised if I lose to ItI next round. XD
-
Its the bad caster wedge job. Wont let the bot slide up the chassis, so the wedges get stuck, and as Click said, *glitch* out from underneath ItI.
-
naryar not going to be happy. But seirously, WTF
-
Razor guy got pwned.
RG's win streak is only 4 wins, right?

LOL ^^
Can't wait for S13 vs. AC. :D
-
Probably should be one more round of the loser's bracket before that match (and the other winner's bracket matches) will be played.
-
I think we should have a couple of grudge matches after this, i think i know a couple...
-
ItI vs. Everyone. lol
Other than that I would really like to see PitA vs R4. XD
-
Wait, WHAT?
I think this bot NEEDS to be in Starcore AI vers. 4.
FOR ALL THAT IS GREAT DO IT!
-
Click, Have u ever though of releasing the music u use for these awsome battlevids? The music sound real good
-
@Click on PG 53: If somone can incorporate that wedge glitching, you would get an awesome wedged bot.
-
who should have bet on "Insult to injury" ? So long, it have done unpredicable good result and it gives the damn to one of the most terrific builder over there. Only luck ? i don't know, there something about this bot.
and i share Naryar's disappointment... Well this is life... Anyway Nar, you win the Best Post of this thread award.
About Wham, it did start so well and so quick for your bot... Click get something evil, when looking at his summaries you think you have win (or not)... never know the matches result until you see them, and in the same time these summarises are so accurate ..that's good.
-
Now that RODW is out, I think R4 will win.
-
Wait, WHAT?
I think this bot NEEDS to be in Starcore AI vers. 4.
FOR ALL THAT IS GREAT DO IT!
That's going a bit too far. It glitched under a wedge, so what. It's still not very well built at all.
-
DSL has the test bots.
See where I'm going?
-
No.
-
No.
Is that a no as in "No I don't see where you're going" or no as in "No, screw that idea"
-
Former, but I was being sarcastic.
-
Sigh.
-
I'm...shocked...

My only hope is if your wedgeless design allows Hellbringer to get under your bot for a decent gut-rip. Otherwise, I feel that T-800 will win. Was a good solid fight between T-800 Terminator and Hellbringer. There were even prediction post that thought it would go the other way. I am proud of T-800 and have been working on improving it for the Starcore V4 pack.
For the next round though I do not think T-800 has much hope of victory. It is not designed to flip other bots out of an arena and it is agressive enough to get in close with Bumble Bee as fast as it can. I have faith that Bumble Bee will walk around on top of T-800 until it top-rips T-800 to shreds.
The nature of diverse bot designs, I focused T-800 for agressive strong front fighting. Blending to take on a wide range of foes. Doesn't mean it can take on every kind of foe.
Looking forward to seeing how the match turns out...

Yep. Though maybe you should of quoted my post so it makes sense why you said it.

Good point.

My chained HS would kill Isunami.
-
My chained HS would kill Isunami.
I bet it would.
BTW, I was just beta testing the CC AI pack...
Your bot is very fun to dismantle.
Don't criticize other's bot's when yours, well, aren't so great.
-
My chained HS would kill Isunami.
Do you even know what a chained HS is?
Besides Tsunami is a SFTW, beating it proves nothing.
-
Even though Tsunami could probably pwn COID, even with the unbalanced parts.
I see "pwn" as a KO right there. It's unlikely. Tsunami might be more competent then COID, but COID has the 6x stronger armor to choose from, along with weapons that would rip apart a little puny stock bot. Even while near stationary.
A TKO like CFTW did is the best bet.
-
My chained HS would kill Isunami.
Learn to spell.

You should of really quoted LRA2's post so it doesn't make me look stupid, even though spelling is not my problem.

I edited it.

Here are predictions for losers bracket round 6
T-800 Termminator V.S. Bumble Bee: Tought fight but I say that Bumble bee will win
Big Flip's Revenge V.S. No Hype 5: I say that Big Flip's Revenge will win
Insult to Injury V V.S. Trojan Horse: I say that Trojan Horse will win
Crawl though Knives V4.2 V.S. Vela: I say that Crawl though Knives V4.2 will win

Round 4 winner's bracket is up!
The tournament is rapidly coming to a close now; we're at the point where there are only 4 fights per round, and there are only 16 bots still competing. For those top 16 competitors: congratulations, being in the top 16 is no easy accomplishment. There are many very good bots that didn't make it that far.
Note: you need to scroll down past the round 5 loser's bracket summaries in order to read about round 4.
-
Seism 13 wins 2-1 with 2 TKO's; Absolute Chaos gets 1 KO.
*Sees AC is BFR's opponent AGAIN after No Hype*
FFFFFFFFFF....
-
Hey click, would be able to release the awsome background music that u used for these vids? I have an 8gb mp3 player that needs to be filled:mrgreen:
-
All of the fights were pretty good.
-
I think Surgic will have a good run in the losers bracket.
PREDICTIONS:
R4>C.I. (Faster, but it might be killed before it gets the chance)
Seism 13> Shadow Tyrant (Better Wedges)
-
Hmmm... not sure if I'll win this next fight against the Crawl through knives.
-
That was some awesome fights
-
Hmmm... not sure if I'll win this next fight against the Crawl through knives.
Heck, I'm not sure if I can win against ItI. :P
-
Shadow Tyrant vs Death Dealer was the best match in this tourney so far. Easily 5 stars in my opinion.
All of these fights were great.
I'm not terribly confident about my fight against CI though. My smartzone appears to be a little too far forward for my liking, but hey, that's what I get for not AI'ing my own bot (and if I did, I didn't do a very good job :P). I still think that I can win.
Anyways, PREDICTIONS!
T-800 Terminator vs Bumble Bee
Winner: Bumble Bee
- More weapons, and the ability to attack Starcore's exposed top will lead to the killer BB marching on to fight Death Dealer (whom it will also beat)GHEEEEEEY
Big Flip's Revenge vs No Hype 5
Winner: Big Flip's Revenge
- It will do exactly what it did against Bounty Hunter in the last round, and go through, where, sadly, it will probably be the end of the line for the little guys, as Absolute Chaos stands in their way.
Insult to Injury V vs Trojan Horse
Winner: Insult to Injury V
- Why the heck not?
Crawl Through Knives 4.2 vs Vela
Winner: Vela
- Oggie should get consideration for the best rookie, but he disappeared a while ago. With a previous loss to Death Dealer, the very similar Vela can make his bot disappear from the tourney too.
Winners Bracket:
R4 vs Copyright Infringement
Winner: R4
- In the combat zone, this fight would last about 6 seconds for all three rounds, but we're not there, are we? Still, I think R4 remains just too powerful to give its opponents any time to do any serious damage.
Seism 13 vs Shadow Tyrant
Winner: Seism 13
- Neither bot has faced another wedged one yet in the tourney, so I don't know just how good S13's wedges really are, or if Trov has found a way to make the E-wedges work. Just from past experience, I'm leaning towards Firebeetle's, but Trovaner is one of the best builders here. Knowing that, you can bet it won't be an easy fight...
-
Crawl Through Knives 4.2 vs Vela
Winner: Vela
- Oggie should get consideration for the best rookie, but he disappeared a while ago. With a previous loss to Death Dealer, the very similar Vela can make his bot disappear from the tourney too.
You know, I've seen Oggie lurking around once in a while within this week.
-
If I win my next fight, then who am I vs next?
-
SurgicalStrike.

Don't worry, dude. If you lose, you're gonna be ranked 23 to 26-ish. If I lose, I'm going to the 30's. :(
-
GO FB !!!!!!
And my predictions are the same as R0B0's.
EDIT: LOL at 40757
-
40757 probably got that out for my sake. :|
Ugh, I just hope I can have a repeat of the successful double team flip out on AC again. When the time comes. Or actually get it on the wedge, remembering that round where AC got a havok warning.

T-800 Terminator vs Bumble Bee
Winner: T-800
While BB has more weapons, most of them ain't gonna touch the opponent unless some of those Irons are broken, even with that, BB has an overall slower weapon speed, which means this may be a WPB or TKO for the Terminator.
Big Flip's Revenge vs No Hype 5
Winner: No Hype 5
- What the Hell, just to be an optomist.
Insult to Injury V vs Trojan Horse
Winner: Trojan Horse
Unlike PitA, Trojan has got a more simple wedge, he also doesn't have castor armour which could have played a part, and lastly, he has a single wedge. Razor Guy's record is intact. *Sigh*
Crawl Through Knives 4.2 vs Vela
Winner: Vela
Vela could make it all the way.
-
Shadow Tyrant vs Death Dealer was the best match in this tourney so far.
I agree with your predictions. :approve:
-
At least I made it to #20 in a bracket with almost 64 bots.
-
Crawl Through Knives 4.2 vs Vela
Winner: Vela
- Oggie should get consideration for the best rookie, but he disappeared a while ago. With a previous loss to Death Dealer, the very similar Vela can make his bot disappear from the tourney too.
I'm not gone. Just been slacking lately. I think you are right about the match tho. If it were the combat arena I would have a decent chance, but the box in the middle ****s up pretty badly. *Hoping for some "high speed collisions" like in round 2 against Death Dealer*. And last, but not least: Thanks! ;)
-
<3 Seism 13, I still remember when FB showcased it.
Trovaner will win BBeans.
-
Personally i have my bets on Seism 13.
-
i think winner bracket will face shadow tyrant vs R4, and, finally, my points for Shadow Tyrant, i bet on Trovaner deep knowledge.
looser bracket :
T-800 Terminator vs Bumble Bee : T-800 should reach BB chassis more often that bb will -> T800 win
Big Flip's Revenge vs No Hype 5 : no hype will justify its name -> Big flip will gets its revenge and wins :-(.
Insult to Injury V vs Trojan Horse : Who got the best wedge ? maybe ITI (btw i'm sure it's got ballast)
Crawl Through Knives 4.2 vs Vela : Crawl Through Knives 4.2 seems to have very weak armor not enough compensated with those plates -> Vela wins.
-
Round 6 loser's bracket is up!
And, um, not much more to say than that. Very good fights, but at this point they're all pretty good.
Also, a thought that occurred to me. All the bots remaining in the winner's bracket are veterans. Could a veteran, instead of a rookie, win BBEANS for the first time in the tournament's history? Moreover, could it be a non-spinner? (Both stock champions were HS's.)
-
PREDICTIONS:
T-800 Vs Death Dealer:
T-800 has armor, Death Dealer does not. Win to T-800.
B.F.R. Vs A.C.:
Inf beat him the first time, I can't see how he wont do it again. Win to A.C.
Trojan Vs. Cocytus:
Cocytus wedge is better, but Trojan is faster. Unknown outcome.
Surgic Vs. Vela:
Srugic had no trouble killing T-800, Vela should be no challenge. Win to Srugic.
-
so uh, weren't the flippers sposed to throw you into the blade, not outside the arena?
-
Good fights, hope the next rounds good.
-
so uh, weren't the flippers sposed to throw you into the blade, not outside the arena?
It depends on the bot. MOST bots will land on/near the blade (textbook example: PitA 8 vs. Absolute Chaos). But for some reason Bumble Bee is just a good flier. I can't imagine why lack of true wheels would send a bot across the arena instead of only halfway, but that is what it seems to be. Maybe something to do with grip and resistance? Seems like when you get flipped, if you land on your wheels, your bot stops pretty quickly, but if you land on a component, your bot bounces and skids. At least that's what I've noticed.
T-800 flying out of the arena is easier to explain. It had lost all of its weapons by that point in the fight, which is nearly half its weight, so obviously it will fly farther.
-
Damn Horisontal Spinners. If there only were some way to dodge them in the bracket. And what's up wit all the bumping around in round 1 and 2?
-
And what's up wit all the bumping around in round 1 and 2?
The instant replay makes it clear. Vela hit the plow on the back of CTK, and the force of the impact tipped CTK on its back. It's all about leverage.
-
Lost a tourament without ever getting KOed. That must be something new xD
-
Heh. I expected ItI to go under me at least once. And it did. Twice. XD
Lawl @ T800 getting flipped twice after Round 2 ended. XD
I wonder if I would still get this high if I entered a serious bot. o_O
Predikshunz:
Winner's bracket:
R4 over CI - If SS did it to T800, I'm pretty sure this will as well.
S13 over ST - Battle of the wedges. I don't know how S13's AI works against double wedges, but the fight will surely be epic.
Loser's bracket:
T800 over DD - T800 has both quality AND quantity. His weapon breakers might help much against DD's lower spinners.
AC over BFR - Deja vu.
C4 over my horsie - If it can beat the might Bounty Hunter, then mine shouldn't be a problem.
SS over Vela - SS did it to T800. Why not?
-
Well, looks like the end of the line. Unless there's two rounds of luck that involve the double team flip, or the time BFR actually got under (And smashed AC into eventually getting the havok restart)
If Insult to Injury can get under PitA, it can certainly get under Trojan Horse, but when you're dealing with the kind of luck Insult to Injury has, anything can--and does--happen.
Well, if PitA8 won because ItI glitched through the twin wedge system (I suppose by going over one and going under the other) then it shouldn't get under Trojan as it only has one wedge.
Which it couldn't, apparently. So unless that was a dramatic description...
-
I've thoroughly tested AC against several SC4 MW Popup tandems...
Needless to say I am very confident of AC's chances this round
-
That, and you've already fought them.
-
Bumble Bee will return, in an arena without extrmemly low walls and uber powerful flippers. ><
-
And The Wins will. be. cheap.
-
Bumble Bee will return, in an arena without extrmemly low walls and uber powerful flippers. ><
I really didn't think T-800 Terminator would last long enough for the flippers to even come into play. You know your design is powerful. And as you saw T-800 needed basically every bit of defense I put on it.
We all of course have to design for the environment we will be fighting in and in future tournaments people will need to consider heavily how to counter a crawler design (you know others will be doing similar with it now being allowed).
Starcore
-
And The Wins will. be. cheap.
Once I'm on the flippers, I'm gone. That's not cheap at all to you?
But anyways, you can all settle down now that bumble bee is gone. I hope you homophobes realize now that it's not as cheap as you guys all thought.
Cheap Win 3000 didn't win. Looks like you all have been proven wrong.
(This post looks kinda sore loser-ish... I apologize.)
EDIT: Well, at least I lost to someone as great as Starcore. If it was anyone else I would be 2 times as mad.
-
No rookie for the final this time, isn't it one of the first time ?
-
Well, at least I lost to someone as great as Starcore. If it was anyone else I would be 2 times as mad.
Seconded. I feel the same way about strat.
-
Once I'm on the flippers, I'm gone. That's not cheap at all to you?
No, actually. To me, it's not. It's just an unfortunate by-product of your bot. You were able to cram more weapons on than any other spinner because of the crawler/dancer design, so with literally 360 degrees of better offense and defense than anyone else, your bot had to have an achilles heel of sorts, which unfortunately happened to be the arena flippers. Part of competing to win a tourney is designing a bot to battle not only opposition, but in a specific environment. It appears to me that you only really took into account the opposition, and you lost because of it.
I hope I can put into words the sentiment about Bumble Bee around the forum:
For the longest time, Sage built some of the most innovative and powerful bots around, and we all respected his ability to get the most out of his designs. For the longest time too, we all frowned upon bot designs that couldn't "show controlled movement," as Click says, because we thought that just having masses of spikes flailing everywhere wasn't a fair way to win, when it couldn't even track down an opponent on its own. Somewhere along the way, it got warped into crawlers, which are completely legit designs, are also unfair. So when Sage, who we all love, entered a cralwer, which we hate for some reason, basically we defaulted to something along the lines of "NO U."
The only thing that I have against crawlers is that they are relatively easy to make in comparison to other bots, and it just seems like the lazy way out to me. I expected some epic HS-killing hammer bot out of Sage, and I was quite frankly disapointed by his entry, because he IS a great builder (I think I said this somewhere before...).
I hope I haven't sounded harsh or anything. This post wasn't meant to be offensive towards anyone, and I apologize in advance if I do manage to offend someone.
Also, the jokes are getting old guys, so stoppit >:O

I really liked this comment. Sorry to dissapoint.
As for the HS killing hammer, the problem with that is it can't kill other bots, as well as the arena it would be fighting in would block the hammers and prevent mobility because of the needed wide wedges. I also had to account for multi-bots, which a hammer would have an incredibly rough time killing.
I thought it through. It's not like I was lazy and was just like "Screw BBEANS, I'm gonna be lazy and enter an easy deisgn." I tested like 10 bots, and Bee had the best results, so I entered it. Looking back, It probably would have been better to do something else, but meh, it's over and done now anyways.
-
Round 7 loser's bracket is up.
This was a good round. There was not just one, but TWO matches I thought deserved a 5-star rating. The first of the tournament! They're long fights, but worth every minute.
-
Hey, Trojan vs Cocytus comes up as a broken link for me. FYI. Great matches otherwise!
-
Oops, I had the names of the bots switched around. It's fixed now.
-
Daaah, that's it, the dream run is over.
Heh, and to think I almost entered something different.
-
That's pretty much where I thought Vela would lose to. I should start working on my BBEANS6 bot since I'm actually not that good at DSL now :D
-
O_O
Now I'm really wondering if I would still go this far if I didn't enter a joke bot. O_O
I'm sure I'll be out this time. SS's wedges are close enough to counter the horsie's single wedge.
-
Either case, it should be real fun.
PREDICTIONS FOR LOSERS BRACKET
A.C. Vs T-800
Way too close to call. Its hard to see who will beat the other
Surgic Vs T.H.
Surgic's match with R4 shows that its not good with other pop-ups, but in the case with Trojan, it should get under to that nice, meaty underside, but Trojan has gone much farther than most expected, and the match can go any way.
This will be awesome. Can't wait too see the showdown of the final eight.
-
After T-800 Terminator lost it's first round against Surgical Strike I kinda figured I was out of sync on my design and that T-800 was behind the curve and not competitive.
Each round it has gotten closer and closer to climbing out of the Loser's Bracket.
I do not think that T-800 will get a chance to have a revenge match with Surgical Strike.
I really didn't think T-800 would get past Bumble Bee. I had little hope of T-800 surviving long enough for the Flippers to come into play and as we saw, T-800 was just as vulnerable to being flipped out of the arena that deep into the match.
Absolute Chaos is a great design and though there is a small chance that T-800 Terminator will get past him we saw how close it was between T-800 and Death Dealer. It will be even harder for T-800 to get in and thump on Absolute Chaos's smaller chassis.
I look forward with bated breath to the next few rounds.
Thanks for running these matches Click!

T800 vs AC is way close to call, even in my own testing.
-
Right now I think R4 will win the tournament, but these videos are really good right now so hopefully the high quality will keep up.
-
Right now I think R4 will win the tournament,
Agreed, as much as i rather dislike popups... I think R4 will take it all as well.
-
Shhhhhhh... don't say anything yet guys, you might jinx me :P
Plus, I have some stiff competition still. MikeNCR built a good bot. It's got quite a bit to hurt you with, and Trov and Firebeetle are two great builders, so I just don't know how good their bots really are. I think I can beat Trojan Horse and I've already beat SurgicalStrike, but T-800 and AC are both still in the mix too. I haven't beaten any of the pre-tourney favourites yet, so let's just sit back and enjoy the ride...
-
I just saw a black cat run over R4... Ohhhhhh, that can't be good.
-
Can I face the winner..? Please? Just a little exhibition match.
-
You can do that when the AI is released.
-
Winner's bracket quarterfinals, and round 8 loser's bracket is up!
Sorry, no 5-star matches this time, or even 4-star. But the pure excitement of being down to the final 8 bots makes up for it.
Also, I was quite surprised by some of the results. Not at all what I was expecting.
-
Shadow Tyrant, I think I have a chance at seeing Inf in the losers finals part one.
-
I'M STILL IN!
Btw, who's my next opponent?
-
Shadow Tyrant.
-
Hmm, three pop-ups in a row. I hope I have the better wedge.
-
Good match, Mike. Things would've been different if I didn't keep hammering your weapons though! xD
AC next... R4's designed to take out bots like AC, but if it goes anything like the match with CI, I'm in trouble.
EDIT: Also, lookee what I found:
Insult to Injury V - singing :
*Spinner from the west,
that bot is the best...
He have awesome skin,
but he never win...
Many build a twins,
but where are the wins?...
This bot is not a noob,
definitely not a boob...*
Sorry Alterer of Reality, i know you are new to RA2, but i couldn't resist to this joke, and im ROFLing right now...
Can you say "irony?'
-
Heh, he even states fow ItI kills him.
When he comes back, I'm sooooo rubbing it in.
-
Ranked in the 10s. I didn't expect that (I didn't expect KOing SS too). :O
Great match. :D
Oh well, predictions time again!
S13 over CI - It worked against AC, why not?
R4 over AC - I dunno what went wrong with R4's match against CI. The 4WD should've been fast enough for the razors to reach the motors. Oh well, R0B0 did say it was meant to take out AC.
SS over ST - I can't predict much about this. Most likely a coin toss, though the ramplate overkill on ST might hamper its wedginess.
-
Well it was a good run and T-800 Terminator got further then I thought it would after it lost its first match. Was exciting to see if it could climb out of the Loser's Bracket. Absolute Chaos did great!
As I am sure many here do, I did keep working on making T-800 Terminator better after the match started and will be inserting the improved version into the Starcore V4 Pack.
Centered and pulled the wheels in for better protection. Traded the front Razor Tips for increased rear Caster Armor protection that also tips the Ramplates down in front for better response to Pop-ups. And finally came up with a better (in my opinion) arrangement for the Ram Plates to better catch and break opponent weapons.
The T-800 Terminator is crushed. Timed to make a new better more deadly terminator...
Starcore
-
except the right wheel AGODed....
-
Is visual side effect of angling the drive motor off the Snapper at a slight angle to balance for rightsideup and upsidedown invertible driving. Drives straight and turns smoothly. But the motors do pulse up/down a touch since attached at angle to the Snapper. Is a case of AGOD that does not AGOD.
Starcore

Still better than anything I could build.
-
Still better than anything I could build.
Same with me.
-
Man, that new T-800 looks like a tough customer. With the wheels protected now, it doesn't have many weak spots. Did you also use another extender to stack the bottom 2 maces on each tribar inside each other? Or does it have less maces?
Oh, yeah, sorry everyone. I bet when you saw that I posted here, you thought there would be a BBEANS update. But there's not. Too bad.
-
Now I'm starting to feel bad for sending T-800 to the losers bracket the first round.
-

Yes I still use another extender (3 extenders per Tribar arm) to stack the bottom 2 maces on each tribar inside each other. I found that better than using the lower connect of each upper extender to add a mace head that is pointed down. Still has 27 Maces. :)
-
Absolute Chaos vs. R4 and SurgicalStrike vs. Shadow Tyrant are up!
Sorry for the delay followed by the tiny update. It's been a busy week for me, and to top it all off, a storm knocked out my internet yesterday, when I was planning on posting the videos. The Semis and loser's bracket Quarters should come sooner this week.
And in case you haven't noticed, we're down to our final four bots now. You can practically feel the tension... well, at least I can, I don't know about anyone else... as one of these bots is destined to become the champion.
-
Just realized I'll never be able to win a BBEANS title now... with DSL lws being next.
Oh well.
Nice matches this time around.
-
You can win "Most Controversial Bot".
On a more serious note, I think Bumble Bee is one of the top contenders for Most Fearsome Opponent, right alongside Absolute Chaos.
-
In the words of Sage:
i lose.
-
Whoa! That was shocking!
-
R4 FTW!!!!
-
BH did not perform up to par, ashame; a rebuild is in order.
-
Go R0B0.

^^^
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
Lawl. SS's gonna face R4 for a rematch. XD
-
Copyright Infringement vs. Seism 13 and R4 vs. SurgicalStrike are up!
And now, at last, we have one of our two finalists. I can say no more without spoiling anything.
-
It's pretty much what I expected.
-
Oh well, next time I guess.
Though, I am still in the rumble. And I was the last rookie in BBEANS.
Oh, Robo, have fun with CI.
-
Oh well, next time I guess.
Though, I am still in the rumble. And I was the last rookie in BBEANS.
Oh, Robo, have fun with Seism.
Yep, I had to point that out, because now BBEANS is going to be won by a veteran for the first time. Exciting times.
At this point, it's looking like the rumble will involve SurgicalStrike, Vela, Big Flip's Revenge, and Trojan Horse if R4 wins against CI, or if it loses again, either Trojan Horse or R4, depending on whether R4 loses 0-3 or 1-2.
I'll also do a special Champion's rumble, as I have mentioned before, which will involve PitA 8, 45-70 Magnum, Copyright Infringement, and whoever the champion of BBEANS5 turns out to be. There won't be prizes for it except bragging rights, but with four champions in the tournament, I can't not do it.
-
What happens if CI wins the tournament, then you only have 3 champions. (probably won't happen but still.)
-
Maybe put in 2 CIs? Or just a 3-bot rumble probably.
-

Haha, that'll be interesting. How will just 1 BFR handle a BBEANS rumble, let alone a match.
Good matches there. Good luck to the last 3.
-
If I'm in the rumble, I'm pretty sure TH will be the first one to get creamed (plus, the HS protection rarely works). XD
-
at worst I've got 2nd and 3rd between CC2 and BBEANS5. Not bad. Bring on BBEANS6!
-
Bring on BBEANS6!
^^ FTW

Click will need a vacation... It is incredible how many matches he had to tape for this tourney as it is! Wow.
Edit: Holy crap... I guess i was not paying attention, but I just noticed S13's AI trick. I am curious though, if you don't mind explaining. Is the AI programmed to figure out the best place to put the wedges after the first round? or does it make that decision on the fly? I noticed that it started with far wedges at first and then after that it brought the wedges closer.
If S13 wins... it totally makes a strong point that we could build much better tourney bots if we learn more about tweaking the AI for smarter attacks. Probably old news to most of you, but this didn't really occur to me until now.
-
R4 vs. Copyright Infringement #2 is up!
And now, we have our two finalists, and our four rumble participants.
Click will need a vacation...
You bet I will. BBEANS6 will happen, but not until 1) I get the stock BBEANS AI pack done, and 2) I at least make some major progress on DSL3, if not get it done.

Seism 13's AI is told to use the wide wedges by default, whenever it detects a new opponent. If the other bot doesn't get under Seism 13, then in all future matches it will continue using the wide wedges until the other bot does get under. If the other bot gets under Seism 13, then it will switch to the narrow wedges right away, and also use them in the next match. It will continue using narrow wedges until the other bot gets under them, at which point it will switch back to wide wedges.
It keeps track of all that from match to match by writing information to a .txt file that serves as its "memory".
-
Awesome! Can't wait for the grand final!
-
Holy crap! That AI has so much potential!
Imagine, a bot that is equipped for any situation...
It would be nearly unstoppable!
Edit: Three strikes, you're out!
Edit: Wht does FB use to make he music? FL sudio?

Well, so far Seism 13 hasn't been stopped...
The worst that's happened to it was a 2-1 win against Absolute Chaos.
Remember, though, you have to build a bot equipped for any situation before you can AI it. And good luck doing that.
Edit: Wht does FB use to make he music? FL sudio?
Anvil Studio. It's a free MIDI program. He uses a bunch of custom sound fonts, though, so it doesn't sound like typical MIDI music.
-
Well, my second consecutive final. How's that for revenge, Mike :P
And R4 scores the 1-hit KO hat trick.
-
And R4 scores the 1-hit KO hat trick.
If there was a Hidden Weapon team in stock (and not Clash Cubes either), R4 would be in it. It literally was a hidden weapon until now. Of mass destruction.
-
This is going to be a great final. I can't wait :D
-
:o @ R4
I think S13 will win the final though (an R4 win isn't impossible however...)
-
I trust R4's wedges on this one. So he will most likely win the first match. Once S13 switches from wide to narrow wedges in the 2nd and 3rd round, however...
-
And R4 has to beat S13 twice, kinda like HazCon vs. Enfilad3. But it happened before.
-
And R4 has to beat S13 twice, kinda like HazCon vs. Enfilad3. But it happened before.
And Like Flaming Whizzer vs Wedge Tracker, and Wedge Tracker vs IWGS.
-
Yeah Seism wins this fight. It has longer wedges so once it switches to narrow, it will get under no problem.
-
I agree with Pwnator on this one.
-
R4 has lost. Short wedges < long wedges.
-
R4 has lost. Short wedges < long wedges.
We'll just have to see! :-D

well R4 could get round the side of S13... very unlikely however.
Also congatulations for R0B0SH4RK for making his second final in a row!

Hello everyone, long time no see! I decided I have to come back and honor this moment, up in the finals. Cheers to Roboshark and R4 for making it this far as well! I can tell this will be an exciting final.
BTW I still play RA2 now and then. I may actually have an exciting new bot to post soon.

Do you know how much this post made my day FB? So glad to see you back.
-
^^^ I agree. It seems that Firebeetle has made his triumphant return!:-D

I bet it's just CB posting under FB's account as to not make it look like the tourney might be won by an absentee member :P
Sarcastic remarks aside, it's always good to see a veteran return. The community becomes happier for about three days. So, welcome back FB. I'd wish you luck, but I'd be lying if I did. I really hope you do poorly instead :P
-
^^One word.
JACKOFF.
-
^^^ Two words:
RESPECT PLEASE.
I'm very glad that more veterans are coming back. Can't wait to see your new bots, FB. :D
Minionbeetles R Us! XD
[Edit] Shouldn't FB be a Veteran or something?
-
LRA2, two words, SHUT UP.
Very nice to have you back FB! Hope you post many a bot.
-
Oh yeah. Since we have BTRSHDBBDDTBL, shouldn't we also have BTRSHDBBDDTL (Bot That Really Shouldn't Have Done Better But Did Due To Luck) or something? That might have been the perfect award for ItI. :P
-
Minionbeetles R Us!
yay Firebeetles back.. you probably dont know me but I follow you work quite a bit XD looking forward to what you showcase next
This should be a great final
-
You should see what JoeBlo did with Gyratory Revolt... he he he
Welcome back FB, lets hope you stay for a while.
-
I was expecting Inf to ruin this Veteran reunion. He did it the last 2 times.
-
I was expecting Inf to ruin this Veteran reunion. He did it the last 3 times.
Do you have to call someone out every time? It really doesn't help.
-
I was tempted so much. Can I cop out with me saying that it's all in good fun?
-
Next time fight the temptation. I'm sick of cleaning up flame wars.
Sorry Click, everybody. Back to BBEANS talk now.

OK, now it's over. The last of the BBEANS5 videos are up--the finals, the rumble, and the bonus Champions' rumble. You don't want to miss any of these fights.
Voting for bonus awards will commence shortly.
-
Congrats FB
-
6 seconds!? As much as that was coming, I don't exactly like that one bit... expected to get atleast one hit.
Anyway..
Good matches. Seism and R4... that had some twists. ACTUAL twists. Wow.
-
Most epic first match I've seen in a while. Loved it.
-
*SPOILERS - ONLY READ IF YOU'VE YET TO WATCH*
Excellent match, FB. You deserved the win, but I was ooohhh soo close. S13 is a great bot, and I think that it proves that you can win a tourney with innovative techniques over tried-and-true methods (You've gotta admit, ajustable wedges = pretty sick idea, and getting the AI to work for them is brilliant too).
On an ego-building note (hey, I gotta have something to feel good about :P) I believe that I'm the first back-to-back finalist in BBEANS history, the first builder to score back-to-back-to-back 1-hit KO's in a single match, and currently have the most KO's per match (tied for 2nd most total KO's too with 30, behind only Inf's 34).
That first tourney win still eludes me though, so in the words of the Governator: "I'll be back." ;)
-
Great finish
Also, w00t:
2nd overall, WB winner in CC2
3rd in BBEANS 5
Champion of Champions rumble (spoilers)winner
Not a bad little run there.
-
Great fights! Can't wait for the awards!
-
Personally, I'm glad that I made it to fourth overall. Also, congrats Fire Beetle for wining.
-
Congratulations.
-
I need to clone Seism 13 for the upcoming BBEANS6...
-
Best match I've ever seen in my life. congrats.
-
Wow that was a close one! Well fought, Roboshark- S13 and R4 are like ultimate arch-rivals (3-3 overall). In the first round... that was the greatest comeback EVER.
Great rumbles too. I thought for sure Surgical Strike had the win in the first one. The champs rumble was just so tense, impossible to tell who would win until the very end.
-
Congrats FB
-
Like I said:
Firebeetle has made his triumphant return!:-D
Glad to have you back FB!

Yeah, but you won the one that counted most xD Congrats again on the win.
-
That's it. When vacation comes, I will learn how to make uber-AI. XD
-
My congratulations to FB. That was a great final
-
The ruleing in the final was unfair and dissapointed me.
There for i have 2 requests.
1: A match between Any DSL SHW other than HOJ made by FB VS my DSL Sns.
2: My stock poker VS The ItI of this tournament(Insult To Injury V) VS The baby warrior.
-
I doubt that'll happen.
Also, has FB even MADE a DSL SHW?
-
@ LRA2 - just wait for the bots to be available for download.
@ Red - That scary gyratory bot with Hammer 4's all around.
-
ah the days before SHW weight restrictions :P
-
@ Red - That scary gyratory bot with Hammer 4's all around.
Never saw that before. It's not in the official DSL SHW weightclass though, probably what LRA2 wanted.
-
Oh,and FB can use a DSL SHW cluster bot which is two HWs.
-
You know, with that attitude, less people are gonna listen to you. Learn to respect people's decisions and always learn to say 'please' when making requests.
-
The ruleing in the final was unfair and dissapointed me. You sound like one of those auto posts here of spambots. Every final you don't like it. Its... 1...2...3.... A bunch of people who liked it, and you didn't, so just accept and like that you witnessed your first BBEANS go through.:-D
There for i have 2 requests.
1: A match between Any DSL SHW other than HOJ made by FB VS my DSL Sns. You would lose even if your SnS was borderline acceptable. FB ROCKS
2: My stock poker VS The ItI of this tournament(Insult To Injury V) VS The baby warrior. You would uber-lose
Congrats FB. You did a great job. (And you destroyed my bot!)
-
LRA2 I got 5 KOs against you in one round with merely and expansion of FB's work.... just think of what the real FB could do ;-)
like Somebody said...just enjoy the moment for what it is
-
I know its alot to ask.. But is it possible to have a match between BH and AC? See how it would fare against a bot it was meant to take out. Please and if its too much to ask it's all good no biggy.
BTW congrats FB!
-

The AI pack is coming out soon. Just test it then.
-
FB, congrulations, well earned too.
-
Indeed, good job. More of a reason to stay. :D
-
Wow. A bit late, but I just noticed I'm the only BBEANS "veteran" in the rumble. Kinda surprising.
-
Tsunami shall return some day...
-
Not bad, Robo.
Not bad.
-
R0B0 didnt win.
-
I am congratulating him for being runner up, not for being first, n00b.
-
R4 kicked @#$!!!
-
One last update here. I've combined the BBEANS5 results into the cumulative rankings, so now you can see how far up or down you've moved!
Good news: those of you who moved down didn't move very far score-wise, while a few of you shot up the rankings like an ICBM, sometimes doubling your score or more.
I also updated the Hall of Fame page.
-
woohoo top 10!
-
I'm #2 :D
-
Guess I have to make sure I don't stink up the place too much as the #1 seed for BBEANS 6.
-
20th? Cool.
[Edit] WIKI EDITING TIME!!! WOOHOO!!!
-
Fifth... heh, it's pretty nice and AAAAAHHH R0B0 IS BEFORE ME !!!!!!
BBEANS6 is going to be epic, with Mike and R0B0 as arch-enemies.
-
Can't contain my joy about being 83rd.
Woohoo.
-
Can't contain my joy about being 83rd.
Woohoo.
I tough I was doing bad? Im 34th
-
I still feel like a winner with 85th :P It was the first ever tournament I entered and it was a great way to really see how I started out and compare to how I am building today, a good start of the learning curve for me :-D and according to Pwnator 8 plows is the most ever been on a single BBEANS entry XD
-
Cool. Joint 56th (54th?) to 25th.
-
uhh. I've decided that I will win BBEANS 6. :D
-
uhh. I've decided that I will win BBEANS 6. :D
You've got a lot to overcome. I think I have a winner, especially when it's competent at the HW level.
-
And my bot's not too shabby either.
-
Fifth... heh, it's pretty nice and AAAAAHHH R0B0 IS BEFORE ME !!!!!!
BBEANS6 is going to be epic, with Mike and R0B0 as arch-enemies.
I hope it is, with you and Mike being the only DSL champs, and myself being the first ever back-to-back finalist, and the first builder to reach both Stock and DSL BBEANS finals. There are some pretty interesting storylines brewing...
-
#13. Just behind Avenger.
Btw Click, none of the new images are working.
-
I'll be back next BBEANS!
-
Me too!
-
I fell like a rock in the ratings. But I'll be back to kick some ass in BBEANS 6.
-
I'm still stuck around the middle in the rankings.
-
I'm in last :-(
