Title: Back to Basics (Signups CLOSED!)
Post by: freeziez on April 24, 2018, 01:27:55 AM
I want to overcome the problems I had while I used to be active here. I shot myself in the foot, aside from Battlebots, by making tournaments that were too gimmicky and were based around things I liked instead of things people wanted to take part in. Since the tournaments section has an abundance of DSL IRL tournaments, I want to go back to basics, both for me and for RA2.

BACK TO BASICS

Signups will be open until the 15th of May, 12:00 a.m. EST. or until the participant limit is reached.

Do people usually allow Ro7 break in stock?

Do people usually allow Ro7 break in stock?
No, since working around the RO7 is part of stock building, unlike DSL-S or IRL.

I'll definitely make something for this. Hopefully more people vote against the combat arena, since that arena lends itself so heavily to HS which are already a very dominant and bland bottype in the stock meta.

I agree. I wish there was a DSL-Tournament-style arena already in stock, all the default arenas minus the combat are too compact or gimmicky. Open arenas lend themselves to more bot types.

I leave this one to the people that are actually good in stock. But if the Combat Arena is too compact why don't you use the octagon with the pits hammers and flippers turned off?

*Get yourself togther, man. You are good at stock!*
*clears throat* Finally, somewhere I can shine! Anyways, doing some research, I think either the Compressor arena or the Electric arena would be good. I also got, like, 15 stock bots I could use.

I think the main issue with the combat arena is that there are no ootas or any type of hazards that harm an hs. An HS can just bounce around unhindered and prevent it's oponenet from gaining control.

Looks like the Combat Arena is pulling ahead. I won't mind using it, I just like seeing different bots lol

Weight class will be Heavyweight. Is there anything that's in the rules that I should consider changing or modifying?

Not using the combat arena :dumb)
Jokes aside, looks good. Do you have a submission deadline in mind yet?

i actually second not using combat arena, just so that HS actually can get killed and not just spikeball for 3 mins, i wonder how the old robot wars arena would work for this (since it was high enough walls that flippers/popups can't OOTA stupidly easy but probably will make a spikeballing HS OOTA itself)

RA2T2 or whatever the flying hell will be fair to flippers, but then, this is gonna be popup fest soo... if they manage oota's then yay

Flippers aren't a thing in stock. Unless you're 090901.

Anyway the arena was put up for a vote and the combat arena won, IMO it would be unfair to change the arena now because you didn't get the right result from the poll.

Yeah, i'm gonna stick with the combat arena. If it was a DSL tournament I wouldn't have it in an enclosed arena.

Anyway, I think the rest of this is OK. Can someone move this to signups?

Signups end on the 15th, I would like to get the SBV started as soon as possible after that.

And there's no limit to entries, so don't worry about spots filling.

I’ve already said this twice, but it’s imperative to my bot. Make hidden power use the snappers to self right. Reply about this soon.

Participants have been locked at 32, meaning there are only 2 spots left! If the participant limit is reached before the deadline, the tournament will start a little early.

Hopefully tonight if the birthday stuff doesn't take up too much time. The draw is done, but I will wait to release them until the splashes are done.
