Cheat components... AAM... BFE... How about it? just an idea that I have in which you could do pretty much anything besides nasty pickles and custom components. Does anybody like this idea? It would be antweights only with BFE weight modification not allowed. If I hosted a tourney like this, to be fair, nobody would get help on BFE or AAM...

::badidea :wt:

Why not? We haven't had much subweight tournaments anyways. :D
-
This sounds funz! I'm going to make something right now.

RR dont shoot down peoples tournaments (also when they provided more info then yours)
there has been the on going discussion about "opening a can of worms" with BFE,
The limits my be a lot higher then you may think what is possible....
quotes from the last thread that wanted a BFE tournament.. just so you know the kinda stuff that can be done...
He means that with BFE, you can attach razor tips to the baseplate, making them invincible.
Or better yet, attach weaponized 20cm extenders to the baseplate. 2 kgs, 100 DP, and infinite HP.
So you could easily make a bot covered in invincible weapons. Therefore ruining the tournament.
If you allow BFE/AAM in a tournament, it needs to be regulated. Heavily.
Example: "You can use BFE/AAM for stacking, and nothing else."
Or,"You can use BFE to change the base type of components, and nothingelse. (So you can make servo HP Z-teks, or weaponized extenders andstuff.)"
Edit: this was in reply to roboman saying "Wha?", which he apparently deleted.
BFElets you attach anything to anything, break the rule of 7, and evenstack multiple parts on the same attach point. It also lets you attachparts to nothing, so you can have loose weapons laying around that actas landmines.
Which is why it needs to be regulated if you allow it. Kind of like custom parts--there\'s no limit to what you can do.

I thought weapons BFE'd the to baseplate won't deal damage?
-
who cares, there will be a winner somehow won't there?
-
Yeah, and I want to see ACAMS enter Goliath. XD
-
This is possible, Duck, but it'll be hard to regulate.
Some other problematic examples not mentioned above:
1. You could have your weapons start the game right in front of your opponent.
2. You could raise the chassis above the floor and leave the wheels and weapons down where they need to be for fighting.
3. You could shrink your chassis down to smaller than a 20cm extender.
4. I learned how to make the bot chassis invisible. Hehe...
5. One could move any motor, weapon, wheel, armor, etc. anywhere.
So you just need to set well-thought-out parameters...

lol surround your opponent with 500 loose 100dp Iron spikes..
-
But this is AW. So you're limited with no more than 12 irons. And you still need the weight for drive. :P
-
So what about balance ? It'll be so hard to regulate... and BFE may lead to crazy awesome designs. May the smartest builder win !

May the person with the most knowledge of Notepad++ Win
:gawe:
I would be prepared from a lot of arguments if this follows though... people make up enough random arguments in normal tournaments..

Correct answer.
people make up enough STUPID arguments in normal tournaments..
-
I was trying to be more polite but yes.. Correct Answer :P
-
I'm sorry Duck, I didn't understand what you were going for by BFE.
-
If this is DSL then I am in. Sounds fun if (and only if) I can get someone to help me with BFE'ing chassis height. (I tried and it doesn't work.)
-
It would be more fun without mad and click helping anyone...
DSL just isn't for me, it lags on my computer too much for my taste

Just to let you know, I was planning on having a mini sub AAM/BFE tournament along side with TAR 2, because im aware that not many can/know how to do AAM/BFE, so it would go fine as a side tournament and I have the limitations for that quite well planned out already.
