Title: Annihilator
Post by: Mr. AS on December 26, 2011, 10:57:17 PM
so here's an idea i had

4 bots per heat, and 1 bot eliminated each round (i.e. the bot that is immobilized/destroyed/OOTA'd first or has the least points when time is up)

16 bots, 4 bots per heat, and 4 bots will be eliminated in the 1st round, leaving 12 bots
then there will be 4 more heats of 3 in the second round, 8 will survive
round 3 will be 4 1-on-1 battles
round 4 will be a rumble, and whoever wins that will be the champion

Stock HW
round 1 and 2 will be in the combat arena,
round 3 will be in the ironbot arena (copyright clickbeetle),
and the finals will be in the blade arena (from dsl)
(all hazards on)

yes i have fraps
yes i can ai (you can still send your own ai if you want)

Here is my entry (i just need to skin/name it first):

more boring rules:
regular glitching allowed (i.e. no bfe, no aam, no hax mode, etc.)
all kinds of bots allowed
no multi bots
dead line is 2 weeks after signups open (multiple SFTW's will fill up empty spaces if there are still entry spots open after signups close)
no reserved spots
no re-sending bots
bots will get one havok restart (the match with the havok will not be put up) and by havoks, i mean major havoks, as in bots flying across the arena/getting stuck in walls... etc.
no cheaty ai

SIGNUPS ARE OPEN CLOSED

Get the "boring rules" a bit more organized please. :P

there will be 4 heats the first round, each with 4 bots, when the heats are over, Ok...start with 16 bots, 4 get eliminated leaving 12
there will be 12 bots in the second round, with 3 heats of 4 bots each, 12, 3 eliminated leaving 9
then, 2 heats with 4 bots each, There were 9 last round but now there are 8?
then the finals with a rumble of 4 bots (one battle) So there are 2 bots from each heat eliminated from the 8, since otherwise there would be 6 left, to leave 4 for the rumble.

Rumbles = Popups not happy
No popups = HS are happy
Everyone will enter HS
D:
[at least it's in the Ironbot arena for round 3]

yeah, copy+pasting ACAM's mandated rules messed the post up

I think you have to let G.K. that the tourney is ready for the signups stage.
Entry Level Tournament Rules

Limit 10 active tournaments at 1 time,

Entry List Size cannot exceed 16 robots. (1 Wildcard match allowance, of up to 4 robots)

Upon successful completion of your first tournament you are permitted 32 entrants (including Wildcard)

When 3 places are open within the Tournaments in Progress (for Entry level tournaments)all Discussed Entry Level tournaments with a Green Tick will be added to a 5 day poll.

It is your duty to add the green tick when you are ready, not my responsibility.

The highest 3 voted tournaments will be allowed to move into sign ups.

From the day your sign ups are approved you have 90 days (3 months) to complete your tournament

This averages out 1 month for sign ups and 2 videos a week but you may spend the time however you see fit (more sign up time, more video time, whatever)
it doesn't say anything about letting gk know it is ticked

So hiding under the blade is allowed?

It would be considerably harder to do in stock than in DSL though... I'd need Redbird or RAD drive with mini wheels and only pink batteries; anything else would be too tall.  Plus I'd need to somehow get through the first 3 rounds with no blade to hide under... don't think I'll attempt it.  Maybe if it was LW.

pretty much
but only the finals are in the blade arena so making your bot 2.34 x 10-45743234635 millimeters high would be pointless for the first 3 rounds

I'm pretty sure Click can make a special AI that detects the arena, and changes the AI behavior.

Or even if it doesn't change, staying on the center of most arenas is a safe tactic for most HS as well.

Urgh, I can't stand when people do that. I know there's nothing against it in the rules, but it's basically cheating someone else out of a spot.

bots will get one havok restart (the match with the havok will not be put up) and by havoks, i mean major havoks, as in bots flying across the arena/getting stuck in walls... etc.

Wait, so you could easily screw someone out if you so desired?

i'll try to be fair in judging what "major" is, i won't take someone out if they fly a whole millimeter into the air

One of these days you really need to just go for broke and enter the absolute best robot you can. I actually enjoy it when Click enters some of the more interesting bots in the tournaments. It does make things more interesting than some generic popup or 36HS, as he said, which would probably make the matches more repetitive and boring, plus he's already held in extremely high regard among the community, he's got nothing to prove in tournaments. Besides, he's already won Bot Of The Month around 9 times, I think, which calls for much more of the interesting and unique robots than a regular AI tournament does. We shouldn't really be telling people what level of building they should be entering in tournaments, especially not Click. We all know he's one of the best builders on the boards, he shouldn't need to win tournaments to prove it. =)

Besides, Click is an original and candy builder, at the expense of combat worth. It's no surprise everyone goes "OMG SO AWESOME" when Click enters a cool bot... then it fails, predictably, because it wasn't focused on winning.

Though aesthetics and cleverness is a part of good battles as well.

Though his bots do actually win. Click has made several unique bots that themselves have gotten far in tournaments and he also made a (multi)bot that reached the finals in DSL.

That's what I did in Stock's Revenge, RAW 2, and COTT.  1 championship and 2 finals (maybe another championship if Somebody ever gets the last round uploaded).  Also in BBEANS1 and 3 which I did pretty well in.

You're in the main forum, reaction images aren't exactly welcome here.

Bot is pretty awesome looking, but the pointy tips seem a little pointless compared to the more consistent razors available.

They have twice the HP, if I remember rightly, and are only a kilogram heavier than razors, if you do have to sacrifice having no normals for it. I suppose it'll only be hitting the top of bots, though.

Popups would still be better with popup.py as it triggers via chassis.

Added support for a secondary popup weapon with NoChassisTime feature and an analog spinner control, so you can AI popups and VS's with Flipper.py.

Eugh, if this is a HS fest I'll cry. Or if its a popup fest.

Mine has 36 stronger weapons plus another one. So nyeh nyeh.  :gawe:

It should be a pretty good fight if we both end up in the final, though. I reckon there's every chance of that happening.

It's weird, I outweapon most 36HSs with maces, even without the razors.
