"League of Champions
The league will hold only 16 spots per competition, per “season.” These spots will be taken up by the first GameTechMods Forum members to register. To register, you must post a SIMPLE outside and inside shot of your robot that includes the weight…NO FANCY SPLASHES. Also included the registration post must be the country you live in and how you prefer to be contacted. For residents within the United States, you must also include the state in which you reside (sorry). Once all 16 participants have been registered and finalized for competition, they will be put into four different divisions of four competitors.
Division/League Play
Per “regular season,” each builder will have 6 matches. These matches will consist of:
A. 1 Match between each of your division competitors (3 matches total)
B. 1 Match between one competitor from each division (3 matched total)
There will be a deadline of two weeks to complete your scheduled match. If I receive results for all the matches before the two week deadline, the next round of matched will be authorized to begin.
Match Format
All matches will be fought using the Hamachi© tool. There will be a specific room set up for the league competitors exclusively. The name of this room and its respective password will be either sent to the competitors by email or private message, depending on preferred means of contact. Matches can be fought using one of two possible formats.
Format A:
Each one of the competitors will hose three matches each. After the first three matches have been completed, the hosts will switch roles. If after six matches the score is tied three-three, then a neutral host must be brought into play. This host will host a “sudden death” match of two minutes in length. The winner of the sudden death match is the winner of the overall match. If a sudden death match is not necessary, the winner of the six match series is the overall victor.
Format B:
A neutral host is brought in to host a seven match series between the two competitors. The winner of the series is the match victor. This format is easier and more efficient so I recommend that all competitors use it. The neutral host makes things a lot easier not just for me and the competitors, but the audience too, as explained later on.
Recording Match Outcome
For each match in each series, I need to be sent a screenshot of EACH match outcome. The screenshot should be taken by the host, I recommend it. Using a neutral host, this process is very easy and simple. This is how I am able to record and finalize match outcomes officially. Match outcomes can be sent to me at
scoutthenfl@yahoo.com or by private message. Doing this is not a choice, it is REQUIRED.
Neutral Host Responsibility
The job of the Neutral Host is to control the match as best they can and record the match outcomes. If any kind of derogatory statements or viral language is exchanged between competitors, then it is also their responsibility to give a primary warning. If the “flaming” and word exchange continues, then they are to shut down the match and the situation will be immediately reported to me. The outcome of the match will be decided either between me and the host in the dispute, or I will take matters to my committee if I cannot make a decision myself.
Also, I recommend that the neutral allies take action shots of a match as best as they can. It would be nice for the audience to be as well entertained as you and the competitors are. It would only be proper.
Restarts
If there is a Havok explosion of one or both competitors, or any other kind of glitch that affects the outcome of a match, then the host MUST take a screenshot at that moment as proof of the occurrence. If you choose to use Format A of competition, then I cannot allow restarts. This is because of the questionable integrity of the claims, no matter what the situation, no matter who you are. This is another reason why I recommend using Format B of competition.
Protests
If one competitor questions the outcome of an official match, and has a belief that the outcome of a match should be changed, then a formal protest MUST be written TO ME. The protest must clearly explain the problem and the situation, and then give me a valid reason why the outcome should be changed. Protests must be filed within three days of when the disputed match took place. If the problem is brought into the thread and a giant debacle about it is created, then the rest of your matches during the current season will be forfeited and you will be sentenced with a one season ban from league competition.
If I cannot come up originally with a decision that the protester is happy with, then a second formal protest may be submitted to my committee. However, their decision is ABSOLUTELY FINAL depending on majority rule of the situation.
Playoffs and Selection
Six of the season competitors will advance to the playoffs after each regular season. The first four seeded builders who advance will be the winners of their respective divisions. The next two builders whom advance will be the next two builders with the best records. These will be the “Wild Card” selections. If there are any tiebreakers needed, they will be broken in the following order; Head to Head first, if that is the same then KOs, and if that is the same then TKOs. If all three are the same, then there will be a single sudden death match of two minutes hosted by me. The first round of the playoffs will be the wildcard round. The third seed will square off with the sixth seed, and the fourth seed will face off with the fifth seed. After this round is completed, a process called “Reseeding” will occur. The second seeded builder who received a bye will face the lowest seed to advance from the wild card round. The first seeded builder will face the highest seed to advance from the wild card round. Matches from the wild car round will have the same rules as regular season matches.
The championship round will be a series of 9 separate matches and will be hosted by me as a neutral host. The winner of this will be crowned as league champion for that season.
Prizes
I don’t offer much in terms of prizes, but I will offer a champion’s signature custom made by me, containing the division trophy and two pictured of the champion robot.
Offseason
When the next season’s weight division is announced, then competitors from the prior season will have a special two week deadline to re-register for the next season. Prior season competitors are the ONLY ones allowed to register during this period. Any spots left open will be open to the public for registration for a two week period. Like before, this will be a first come first serve situation. However, during both registration periods, NO robot pictures are allowed to be posted (explained later).
Offseason Draft
After the first season has commended, I will perform a draft every season to determine what robots people will use the upcoming season. The person remaining with the best finish from the previous season will draft first. This will allow people who did not finish as well the previous season will be then allowed to registered bots and chose what they want to use after seeing the competition. New competitors will be placed at the end of the list. I will announce the selection order, and as soon as one person has made their selection, the next person has then three days to make their selection from the time where the previous selector made their choice. If you fail to register within this three day period, then you are sent to the back of the order to a “restricted list” just for those builders who missed their selection period. However, you will also be penalized three math forfeits at the beginning of the season as a consequence.
Order trades are allowed as long as an agreement is made between the persons involved in the deal.
Process of the Offseason
1. Any amends that need to be made to the rules for an upcoming season are first added. (1 month period.
2. 3 day period for a poll of what weight class, game type, and type of competition will take place for the upcoming season.
3. 1 week period for public comment on the decision
4. 1 day hiatus for my response and locking of the thread
5. Registration begins for those interested from the previous season (2 weeks)
6. 1 day thread lock for league update
7. Registration begins for open spots by the public (2 weeks)
8. Registration ends, Divisions and Schedules are created, released within 3 days time.
9. Robot Draft order is released, authorized to take place until all selections are made.
10. I give official authorization to begin the next season."
