I agree with mechadino, especially as you're putting a competitive gimmick on an IRL tournament. IRL isn't about efficiency or competition.

You guys make a good case.  I'll poll it.

This looks like fun. I'd probably enter it whichever way the poll goes.

Competitive gimmick + irl = :(
Definitely an idea that needs to be carried out in a meta intended to be competitive.

My idea is already thought of.  By the way, I have 2 questions:

1. Is external armor allowed?

2. Is there a weight limit?

1. Is external armor allowed?

2. Is there a weight limit?
1. I would assume so, as long as none of the pieces have more than 2,700 HP.

2. It says MW in the rules, so yes.

I have a question of my own, actually:

all components on the outside of the robot must have 2,700 or less HP.

Does that mean internal components can have more HP? I don't suppose it would matter that much, other than allowing you a wider choice of motors. Actually, would components that stick out of the chassis (like Perms) count as external?

Any component mounted directly to the chassis is invincible and cannot be knocked off so I'd assume that's why all inside the chassis are exempt.

Alright, it's a standard tournament, now.
The original poll is back in.

ETA on signups?
Whenever I hit 16 "Yup" votes on the poll.
So I'm expecting 3 weeks...

Ban attatching halfsheets and casters directly to the chassis if you haven't already.

Also clarify what you mean by "CF and BFE" allowed since this isn't an IRL tourney. ( You really shouldn't be allowing cheatbot2 then too)

Halfsheets stick out of the chassis and have more than the given hp amount, so saying that is kinda pointless.  They're banned by the actual ruling.
However the point on casters makes sense.

Also edited for a little more clarity like you said.

halfsheets can be attached directly to the chassis and are invincible when done so

also, just do what everyone else does and say you're accepting like 8 entries in the OP, and then expand it to whatever you want after it goes into signups. ez loophole

Oh, yeah, get rid of the cheatbot parts since this is standard.

So why is BFE allowed?  :dumb)
I don't know actually...  I just thought I needed it after not allowing it in the previous tournament.
Should I disallow it?
Ok. so when is sine-ups?
Hopefully whenever I get a reply on the question above...
I really didn't think about why it should or should not be allowed...
Partially because I have no idea what BFE does.   :dumb)
Title: Re: 1-Shot Showdown
Post by: yugitom on November 15, 2016, 10:36:30 AM
BFE is generally allowed for IRL tournaments so bots can be made IRL easier. It's usually the norm to not allow BFE in tournaments.

Partially because I have no idea what BFE does.   :dumb)
BFE is bot file editing. It allows one to move parts around via editing the bot file, as opposed to doing the edit in the bot lab. It's never really used for standard building in a legal way because there's no stacking in standard tournaments.

I guess that makes sense.
So that's how spinneroo, mate made his teeth float after losing his discs.
I should probably not allow it in the rules.
And have.
Title: Re: 1-Shot Showdown
Post by: Badger on November 15, 2016, 11:42:41 AM
You should probably replace all your IRL rules and replace them with the rules from another standard tournament, so stuff like BFE and cheat components aren't allowed.

Just for clarification, what is Swiss army bots and Rule of 7 break?
Title: Re: 1-Shot Showdown
Post by: yugitom on November 15, 2016, 05:44:46 PM
'Swiss army bots' are bots with different weapon systems that can be changed for particular match-ups. Tornado is an RL example.

Ro7 break was made by Serge and it breaks the rule of 7 (https://wiki.gametechmods.com/index.php?title=Rule_of_Seven), a rule which limits how many components you can attach in a row.

F1Krazy and Badger's second entry are in.

Kurt's entries are denied.

I want to emphasize,
"All components on the outside of the chassis" includes those that stick out.  Even if they are attached to the baseplate.

Because we've hit the minimum entrants, I'll put a deadline now for:
Sometime on December 4, 2016

I'm quite impatient at times, but this should be enough to finish some robots.

Also, I've put in a second entrant for now.

Kurt's bots accepted

Sign ups are over.
With 16 bots not including wen's disqualified one, we have a perfect bracket for double elimination.
SBVA thread coming soon.
