Post by: Baconus_Yum on November 25, 2016, 09:10:08 AM
Made this.  I have no name for it yet.  508 KG

Hey, that's not too bad for a very-first bot.

http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/ra2techs.htm#basic - Read this, it's a catch-all for new builders.

You should use the blue snappers instead of the green, since they're lighter. You should try to use only 2 drive motors and a black battery, also.

1. Read/re-read these
http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/ra2techs.htm
http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/ra2stats.htm

2. You're weapons don't need to be at the front and back. You'll have the potential for a good Middleweight if you use one snapper and a Y connector to attach the motors. Since you're so light for a HW, you can realistically downgrade. A good HW HS takes a lot of time to build the first time through.

3. You eFFe’d weapons, sweet! Half the weapons on each Tribar barley hit, not so sweet. You can double your damage by attaching the first six extenders 90° down from it’s current rotation. You can even double that by placing the two motors on the same side of the bot.

4. When placing spin motors on burst motors, use blue snappers to save you a few KGs. Your current bot can't fit them, but the chassis should be rebuilt anyway.

Try to attach the weapons on an HS like this because it's more damaging.

You could do with trying to put only 1 supervolt in and then making the chassis smaller. Other than that, seems to be improving.

Slowly getting there. Keep in mind that this design only requires 1 black battery. Also, if you don't care about radial symmetry, you can mount those motors on just one snapper.

If the game doesn't let you double up on Razors, practice the eFFe glitch. http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/ra2techs.htm#effe The more you try it, the more reliably you'll be able to use it.

As for this bot, it might benefit from some front defense and saving chassis space by putting the CB on the supervolt. Redbird drive is usually ignored too. It's better than version 1 by a long shot.

By won't let me place there, I mean it will not place there. As in, it doesn't even go to the spot where it should go.  Not red, just not there.

The game engine's limited by the rule of 7, meaning that you can't chain more than 7 components in a row. You can optimize the setup by ditching the 20cm that's holding the T connector.

Without that connector it is not possible (without CF) to connect the motors.

Jamied, I appreciate your enthusism and willingness to try and help, but you just registered 11 days ago. Please leave advice to those who are more knowledgeable about Stock, ok?

While I know less abut stock, I suggest trying to bring in those corners and make the bot closer to airtight to see if that can help you lose some weight, to allow you to attach a plow.

no offense against you, but if it gives fake perceptions of robots to new builders, it's not good.

It wastes 10 kgs to use rubbers. The bot will have around as stable/unstable.

I'm sort of the edgy guy that tells people to p*** off whenever i want, but that has to stop pronto as mods are giving me warnings so I am going to cease the rebel stuff. Also, being a rebel is not a good thing for a new user as they can get tainted with a bad reputation (not the number, as in opinions) early on in the community.
For now regarding your wish to give advice, though you've been playing it since 2010, Dreamcast and Naryar have shown you aren't fully knowledgable and really should not be giving advice. Please don't fight us, because being belligerant in your wishes ends up working badly (see what I did under the name life robot arena2 for reference).

Please make a showcase to show what you have built. If your screenshots are still pitch black, try using Print Screen then copy and paste into paint. It's slower but works.

Again, I do welcome your willingness to try and help but you simply need more experience. Please make a showcase and let the stock experts transform you into a better player.

EDIT: What the **** is with the hate? I am actually trying to tell him to listen to those who are good and improve based on that, but by "stock experts" I meant not myself (obviously) and to listen to people who are more knowledgable, while trying to remain calm and level headed. If I actually help someone for once, I get hate anyways? Jesus.

lra2 you aren't inf so stop acting like him

you're definitely improving, baconus. you need to learn how to build your chassis around your components instead of just sticking parts in a box. also redbirds are unneccesary, downgrade to rads and try to get some stronger weapons on it like irons or maces.

Flip the weapon motors over if the weapon is dragging across the floor.

Edit, and use the special attachment point on the blue snapper. It's located wherever the notch on the snapper is when you place the component. If you place the snapper and the Y connector before placing the battery, you're weapon will find a happy place to be in.

You could make the chassis slightly longer so that the RADs can fit just around the snapper. You'll still save weight overall. The chassis can also be lower (just up to the black's height). If you can't stack the control board into the black, learn how to load out the snapper's axle and the control board should fit above it.

As for what you could do with the spare weight, I'm unsure if it would become overweight but a set of casters under the RADs would help as armor.

You're not going to get much of a wedge for the weight of a plow.
Still feel like you could get it invertible.

Tried putting a wedge on it.
Is now a low HW and lasts around a minute.  Terrible idea.

Also, because of the motors, I cannot make it invertible, unless I use bigger wheels, but I have no weight for it.
However I did raise the wheels.

You don't need a wedge on a HS. Get rid of it.  You shpuld easily be able to afford Granny Wheels then.

Just mount the motors on the other AP on the blue snapper (the little box on the side) then you can make the bot invertible without using larger wheels.

Also mounting weapons on extenders like that is pretty sh** since your 200hp extenders that hold your weapons on are hella exposed and will just get knocked off before your weapons so I recommend one of these setups instead.

no.

Ill look into that.

Edit for this: The game hates me, and is wierdly changing the rotation of the motors.  Also, it makes the weapon too low that it makes the wheels irrelevant.
Edit for that: Forgot that you could raise the motor

the hidden ap on the snapper ii works like a servo in that it will always revert to its original position. make sure it face the correct way when you place it

flip your weapon motors so that the tribars are facing upwards, having them downwards is only really good if you're trying to make an undercutter or sweep with an sns. this should fix the issues with invertability.

when i said download bots from an ai pack i was actually serious. taking a look at how other hs are made is probably the best way to learn

i agree with that, i was referring to how he tried to hide that fact behind a codename instead of just outright saying it, like we care about guessing for sh**

So, I tried to do a bot recreation in Stock...

Insides:

Amazingly, I am actually happy with it. Sure there are a few things wrong with it, Namely it being 616 KG, and low-ish battery life, and also lacks the Chin.

But other than that, I like it, for some reason. Even though looking at it again the body seems a little wrong.

Edit: And even before you say it, I know I could make a better recreation in DSL. I just wanted to try my luck in stock.
