I don't get you infff

You're saying you want to revive stock yet you apparently try to drive away people from it ? What the heck ?

But I'm female, that's not happening. :(

wait what

Inf posted two very nice, very constructive posts. Maz didn't like the criticism, and inf called him out on it.
You got my vote for RA2 Wizard. Always and forever.

It's just frustrating that I thought I'd done stuff right and picked up on points that I've been reading while I was an unregistered lurker for a couple of months.

I apologize.

I thought I'd done stuff right, and I can't get my head around how to integrate these changes. They don't make any sense to me.

For your AW, try to replicate this chassis:

https://gametechmods.com/Robot_Exchange/AW/ianh05_AW%20-%20TriForce.bot

You can stack a pink battery in the CB and place the CB under the drive motors you also only need 1 baseplate anchor to mount the razors by using 2 extenders, one facing out with a razor on the end and one going horizontal on the end-most side attachment point and placing 2 razors going outward in-line with the first razor.

Do all this and you will most likely save enough weight for a 4th razor with can be attached just like the first one facing outwards and going back towards the chassis.

Please don't give up on stock yet, we need all the builders we can get  :thumbup

I didn't think this is was hard to understand. I think it's time for people to man (or woman) up and try to learn stock instead of taking the easy way out and going DSL only.

I know that Mazakari is aiming for IRL style in Stock too, so I wouldn't whine about building correctly.

Stock has never been about IRL soo he's not posting here because of that.

Im willing to help people who want to learn and know how to take criticism CONTRUCTIVELY and apply it to how they approach their builds

I see awesomesauce and fracture and guys like that who have come a long way and put a lot of EFFORT into improving thier stock reputation and it has paid off.

This game needs as many good builders as it can right now I take a straight line approach on helping people towards becoming credible stock builders

How you make Alarm Clock Pizza is:
Step 1: You buy an alarm clock from the store, and then you have to break it and put it in the sauce.
Step 2: Fold the sauce in 5 slices and put it in the dough.
Step 3: Paint the eggs with a pitcher of a clock showing what time you want to wake up and eat pizza for breakfast.
Step 4: Put the eggs in the dough.
Step 5: Make it flat into a round shape and draw the time you want on it.
Step 6: Put some old steel to prevent other peple from stealing it.
Step 7: Make it flat and cut into 60 slices 1 for each minute in 1 our.
Step 8: Put in the oven set the timer to 30048813.2884 seconds and put the temperature on 'Volcano' setting.
Step 9: If you think it is take to long, then get yor alarm clock and set it to now so that it will ring and you can take it out.
Step 10: Take it out uv the uvin wen it is redy and go to bed. In the morning eat pizza and also eat yor hands bi mistake.

I fail to see why "resorting to DSL only" is a bad thing. Some people just prefer DSL because it's much less complex and time consuming.

And I know Inf's gonna try to argue that stacking and snapper/axle loading aren't time consuming and to that, I just have to say that we aren't all as talented as Inf and most probably never will be. He's considered an RA2 God for a reason...

Oh and to Maz... I feel you may have been mislead by what you saw when you were just lurking. You most likely saw the majority building IRL DSL and that may have caused the confusion. There are three very different main types of building...

You have stock, which is completely unrealistic. There may be one or two IRL stock builders, but it's not widely accepted.

You have standard DSL, which the bot is made to be as deadly as possible without using the game glitches to build your robot. Standard DSL seems to be a lost art.

And lastly, you have IRL DSL, which you build robots to be as realistic as possible. This has been the most active type of building as of late and that is what you have excelled at most.

Stock has never been about IRL

I don`t think the programers of Robot Arena had 36 macespinners and popups in theire mind when they did the game.
Just look at the stock AI and you`ll see what they were aiming for

I can see numerous points here which need addressing, and I feel I should clarify a few things.
(especially about my gender. I am indeed male, I was just being a bit of a douche.

I did indeed take the
OK SO...
post as a little bit condescending. Almost like a 'here we go again, time to list off reasons why somebody is wrong' post.
I probably took this completely the wrong, and I have apologized for my behaviour. I got a little sucked into what seems to me to be an almost hostile/toxic section of the forums, and overreacted. Sometimes I have seen criticism to be very harsh.
A little let down that my apology hasn't even been noted, let alone accepted, however.

Stock has never been about IRL soo he's not posting here because of that.

I'm clearly in the wrong place then.

I love IRL and strongly dislike the idea of building unrealistic popups and suchlike with maces and razors passing through absolutely everything in the name of competition.

Maybe I'm just too naive and new to know any better than a 'showcase' being somewhere to display completed 'exhibits' and suchlike, and not to have half a dozen people who compete and argue over a 10 year old game tell you that you're not using the right battery.  :ermm:

I dont know why I bother then...

Because in any other situation, your advice would have been perfectly valid and informative. To any other forum member.

Unfortunately, I jumped straight on the defensive, completely needlessly, instead of actually making a constructive post.

you're weak. you have no idea what its like to be ripped. the vets I was ripped by back in the day? JimXorb? Metal Virus? Would you want me to treat you like Pyscolone treated newbs? sheesh. I was giving you advice. Straight up. if you take every little thing I say and interpret as passive aggressive (which you completely are) then you are completely mistaken. I have always been blunt and straight forward. get used to it

Stock can be effective and realistic at the same time;

See: Clickbeetle's Stock Showcase

Also, Mazakari, you build whatever you damn well please. If Stock or DSL even had to be competitive, then IRL wouldn't be as prominent as it is right now, Art bots wouldn't exist and building for the rule of cool wouldn't exist either. You cannot get banned from GTM for building artsy, non-competitive bots, DSL OR Stock. I know this because Domanating's bots (Or most of them, anyway) are ineffective and look really cool yet we still always love his bots.

You're taking this blunt advice a lot better than the other newbies who'd gotten it. F33l speshul

So, make replicas, make Stock IRL bots, make physics breaking 36-mace HS's or ub3rgh3y crawlers or freakbots. There'll be people who'll try, but no one's truly stopping you from doing so.

you're weak...blah blah blah.....I have always been blunt and straight forward. get used to it

I would expect something perhaps a little more courteous from a moderator.

I have not claimed that I am being ripped into.

I have said that I am mistaken, and that I have interpreted posts in the wrong way.

I have apologized and am willing to move on.

You, however, are continuing to beat your point into the ground, you refuse to even achknowledge that I'm taking responsibility for my actions and you are starting to become rather obnoxious about it.

I do not wish to start degrading into one of your little showcase flame wars that I've seen around from some users and trolls, but your attitude is starting to rile me.

Stop there.

Inf is a straight-foward type of person. No sugar coating, no creamer, no cranberry juice. You're getting the dough of the donut, the black of the coffee, the sting of the Vodka. I'll get back to that in a sec.

Inf is also not a moderator, but a veteran, and just as how there are no restrictions to what you can and cannot build, there are no restrictions (well, some) on the way that advice or criticism can be given. Like I said, Inf will slap you unto oblivion for the smallest and slightest of errors and getting defensive on him will spark a flame war, no matter how soft spoken you go about it.

He's also not about to say "okay apology accepted lets have a makeup session now" and will (WILL) keep telling you what you should do until you do it and it's your choice whether you do or do not. I suggest you drop the subject and keep trying.

But ok, if that's how it is, then I'll stop. No arguments there.

I'd like to request that this thread be locked, if at all possible.
There's really nothing more that can be said here. I'll keep building some stock machines, see if I can break my IRL habit, and come back to this section of the forum in a while to see if there are improvements.

yeah, the e-ages thing is what I'm referring to. And those were still mostly realistic and effective bots (however out of date they might be)
