That Robot is a Spy Showcase!
« on: November 20, 2010, 11:42:14 AM »
I'm pretty crap when it comes to building robots on this game.
Here's Peekaboo, named after the TF2 Spy. It's a popup bot.
BTW, I aplogise for the wierd colour, the robot is now not working.

Please don't be too harsh because I'm crap at this game compared to you lot.

Crop everything but the part with the bot. We all know what the bot lab looks like.

Welcome to GTM.
I built that big robot on that TV show that time

I tried to add a picture (decal) of the Spy saying "Gentlemen". I guess it kinda got buggered up.
Anyway, any suggestions on what I should make. Popups are really fun IMO.
Maybe a VS though (challenging idea)

I love your name, but don't like your bot. Anyways, welcome to GTM. Try and make the chassis smaller, and replace the T's with some round extenders or something else.

Decals must be 64x64 .tga files. And make sure they're either 16 or 24-bit versions when you save them. Also, the Grannies seem to be darker than normal.

For starters, pink batteries are almost exclusively used in Antweight bots (0-124.9kg), I reckon two Supervolts should be enough here. T and Y-connectors have very low HP for their weight, so we almost always use round extenders instead. You could probably stand to make the chassis a bit smaller as well, and if you're using a chassis wedge, make sure you have a bunch of ballasts at the front, about 100kg would do nicely. Search around for Insult to Injury V to see what I'm talking about.

They are actually Y Extenders. I have 16 razor tips on the Y's. This is because I can get underneath it.
Originally the chassis was smaller but I was having trouble getting everything into the bot. So I opted for a large bot.
Anyway, I beat Emergency so it proves it's at least below average.
EDIT: Got it to work again. Beat Drumbulbee (though I was driving because my AI skills are sucky)

You could actually have the weapons standing inside the drive motors, that's perfectly legal in Stock. You can get away with almost anything. But well done on beating Emergency, that's kind of a builder's first accomplishment.

If you lose the pink battery, you could actually stand to get 4 extra razor tips on there, if you attach the extenders to the DDT like this:

DDT
|____
vvvvv

You could have five razors on each DDT, for a total of 20. And they would hit the opponent at the same time, dealing more damage overall. If you start them from the horizontal position, kinda inside the drive motors and batteries, they would be travelling faster when they make contact with the opponent, thus dealing even more damage. =D

Okey Doke, will comply those things on my updated bot.
I might even get a decal underneath saying: "OFF TO VISIT YOUR MOTHER"

Sounds good. =] If you want to, you could take a look at the latest two bots in my showcase, Halestorm 7 and Death By Purple 3, just for an example of what is possible in this game. If you check out Sage's Tips and Tricks videos, they can really open up realms of possibilities for your future bots.

True, you can get .bmp decals. But it must be .tga if you want transparency.

Anyway, yeah the links in the general stock advice, aswell as looking in the more experienced builders showcases will help you a lot.

I've made a MW Razor spinner, but it tilts at an angle. Want to see?
Also, armoured in DSA.

Ofcourse
By tilts on an angle I presume you mean the spinner part itself and not the whole bot?
