Title: Team Vortex
Post by: Bladez on November 06, 2008, 01:09:46 PM
Well, here's my team, Team Vortex, on normal, unmodded, RA2... it's pretty good but I'm sure someone will throw a bunch of insults... if you don't have anything nice/helpful to say, don't say anything at all  (screenshots are attached, photobucket isn't working D: )

You should have used an angle facing upwards, it looks like RPB is scared in that pic.

Obviously, because a robot can look scared,

Yeah, he looks terrified.

It would help if you used HPZs instead of normal ones. 2x the power for only 5kgs more. Take out the pink batteries an try to put in another supervolt, pinks are inefficient.

Another supervolt wouldnt fit unfortunately, i tried that, and i dont want HPZ's because they make it too fast and somewhat uncontrollable.

btw, nobody actually said if my bots were any good... are they?

Not bad for your first bots, but ther none the less primitive in terms of RA2. Two HPZ-teks have the same power as four Normal Z-teks, but at least your using shineys. Also, know what weapons are more useful. A one sided ice pick is far better than a two sided one. The best weapons are under 14 kigs. Pinks are also useless. (Unless your building an Ant.) There not  bad for unmoded stock, but you would get raped by SC bots.

Um. Flippo came nice and close to the end of the weight class.... does the flipper work as a Srimech? Stop with the pink batts in the heavyweights. I'm not an expert builder, but I've come to know that just the two black batts will do.

Also, STOP USING THE DOUBLE SIDED ICE PICKS. They cut damage in half. And your robots are big... And why do you have so many weapon systems on the heavyweights, and those N-12 tires aren't necessary, and use tribars instead of extenders, and the pink batts in Flippo won't last long with Zteks, and the double sided ice picks are totally out of reach on the first bot, and all your middle weights and heavy weights are underweight, and most importantly, don't build the components around the chassis and just fill the empty space with little batteries, and... float around the forum and look at other people's stuff.

Otherwise they're good.

Bladez, If it's AI-ed, you can easily control that in the Bindings.py.

4 HPZ's are very controllable.

Anyways, do not use pink batteries. Usually, you need one nifty for a LW, one black for a MW, and two blacks for a HW. The pinks just take up too much space and eat up too much weight. Also, try not to have five different weapon systems on one bot. Unless done correctly, they will just render one another useless. Try to make them invertible or have a srimech too.

That depends on your motor skills.

ShadowArts: I'm going to have to bring to your attention that what you posted was Hateful, Attention grabbing and stupid. If he made a few more posts like that then yes, you could have posted that. But trying to scare away a new member who has promising bot builder skill is not only stupid, but awful as well.

If it sounded that way, I don't mind that you didn't like it. I wasn't hating, as far as I knew o.o

Bad idea Bladez, all of the so called "douchebags" would utterly destroy you in any match. Plus, Naryar knows what he's doing, he won BBEANS4.

Well... after this I don't think Bladez is coming back. If you are is however, your bots are pretty good, although I would defiantly take the experienced members advice. The most important thing is too keep building bots, incorperating the advice given to you into them. Your bot building skills will definatly increase.
