Robo-Trons (intro videos for your robots)
« on: September 03, 2012, 01:25:38 AM »
Here is a place to put all your Robo-trons, Robo-trons are introduction videos for your robots.

It should include the following:
1. Music.
2. Short video clips of it in action, demonstrating it's weapons etc.
3. Robots name.

It can include:
1. A fancy splash image or splash images.
2. Pictures of the robot or battleshots of it.
3. Flavour text, motto etc.
4. Robots info/specs.

They can be anywhere from 30 seconds to 1 minute long.

here is a short and old example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZLw1EJIeBs&feature=plcp#

These videos can be used in future tournaments giving them a more polished feel and look. I myself plan to introduce these in Robo Zone 2 so if you have an entry ready and waiting it would be a good idea to start on your robots intro video now :)

Not anymore there's not.  Don't distribute pirated software on here.  (Except RA2 which is close to abandonware.)

Seriously, FRAPS is like $20, just buy it.  Well worth the money IMO.

If you supply:

1. Your robot.
2. Music info for the track you want played.
3. Any info on what else you want to be in the video.

I would be happy to try and put one together for you. Of course I'd prefer people do these themselves if possible as I want to see what others can come up with.

A while back, I had an idea of making custom in-game intros based on something like bot bindings. This would eliminate the need for a game recorder while at the same time allow people to be creative with how their bots are presented. Things like camera angle (simplified), camera position, speed, music, and bot actions could be automated to occur in a predefined sequence.

Sounds interesting, I think I like being able to use splash images and having video of the robot in action though which I don't think would be possible.

The AI bot wouldn't be able to move out of its starting point but would be able to fire its weapons, spin its spinner, and/or wiggle the wheels. Unfortunately, in game battle scenes would look much cooler than a stationary bot so there is no real alternative to a separate intro video.

Not bad, could do without most/all the first part. If you have windows movie (live) maker you can set a start and end point for each video clip, it also comes with some animations for cut-aways etc.
