well me and sage do this little thing every other night or so where we pick a game (DSL or Stock) a weight class, and a type of bot, and see what can both come up with.
it was his idea to start a showcase where you can decide what was better executed.
So I guess I will start...
This challenge was DSL, Heavyweight, Drum
yes, thats a drum.

i feel that i must vote for sage for his real bot. while II's may be more effective i like sages bot due to the fact that his is more mobile and has a better chance to when against diff type of bots. BTW i would like to get in on the contest not on the forums but just so i cant get instant feedback from 2 of the greats of the game

II's one is more a VS than a drum. Even if I think that AIed, II's bot would win. Besides, the front panels used for wedges dont' look very effective as wedges.
If the bot type was unspecified i'll vote Inf's one. because he is a VS and have wedges. and damn good servo enhanced motor.
But Sage's one is fastest, have more defense, still decent offense, and is a real drum.
So I vote Sage's one.

Inf, as Naryar said, I like certain things about both. But I didn't know the specific criterion/criteria we were to use to evaluate them as "DSL, Heavyweight, Drum
".. Was it aesthetics, realism, 'apparent' effectiveness, or all the above? I think they both would be effective, and would like to see them head to head... (because I've often guessed wrong by just looking at a pic).

Well, I suppose the three base bot characteristics (offense, defense, mobility) and the aesthetics too.
Inf's bot is obviously more offensive than Sage's, but less mobile (Sage's one looks invertible) and less defensive. Uh, I dont know about what armor you guys put on your bots.
And it looks Inf's one is seriously underpowered... or did you stacked some orange batts?

mine has 5 orange batts i believe...could be six...1mm aluminum armor.
sage's armor makes it alot harder to defeat, with the snowplows and i believe he uses 5mm titanium or something like that...
ill make a second version to my bot eventually, defintely has tome things that can be improved, and it still has weight left.

I like your categories of assessment, Naryar.
Inf/Sage, I like your idea of matching 2 bots up.
It's just another idea, but maybe you could list certain categories of evaluation, and then ask for a number rating (between 1-5?) within each category. Then total them up for a winner.
Maybe also, after the evalutaions are in and winner chosen, you could actually match them up head to head in a best-out-of-3 (or 5) series to see how accurate our assessments were. Sort of a "1 on 1" ongoing Tourney, where 2 guys could try out their bots, have an ego-buster match, or just for the fun of the building and competition....
Because the usual Tournies are both spaced out in time and also allow only 1 entry, this would provide a nice avenue to test out some of our bots on a more regular basis. I myself have about a dozen bots I could enter into tourneys (but don't yet know how well they'd do). And also, then the Showcased bots could have an avenue of actual testing beyond just visual.
Just a thought....

Well Madiaba it wasnt mine, i feeded from Korium9's RA2 Walkthrough and they come from here.
Offense => Damage potential, easiness to hit the other bot's chassis, rate of fire.
Defense => Armor, and supplementary defenses (weapon's wall, ramplates, plows), stability
Mobility=> Speed, turn speed, but also invertiblity
And I agree, you could enter more than 2 contestants... example, you enter a weight, and a type of bot or one of the characteristic just said before. And then people send you their matching bots, and we vote.

its not really a contest. just a thing we do. if we wanted to get a small group going that would be cool, but not like a whole tourney. thats bot of the month material.

if u cant see it, my drum has 4 halfsheets on the bottom, making the bottom invincible. it is really hard to kill.

Huh. You guys know i have one, but it is way inferior...excepted on speed, i guess...
Pretty nice there. The two are good, but I guess Inf's is the best engineered. VERY few empty space.
Besides, Inf's one is overpowered and Sage's one has more effective weapons and more side armor (good for preventing the loss of a wheel). But Sage's weaponry is more fragile than Inf's.

This two bots seems like DRAW to me
Why dont just test them vs each other and see who will win?
But good bots anyway...

i think just about everything naryar said is wrong.
if anything sages has a quarter of an inch more side protection.
sages bot is underpowered with two purple batteries.
pointy tips are actually very effective as a ramming/poking weapon.
both weapons are equally fragile.
