I just recycled ReaXioN's chassis and tweaked some points, so it does have some space somewhere in the front. The wedges are as good as NWB's. But then...

O_O

Hmmm...

:O

Anyway, anything that can't reach below its own chassis (sans HS) is dead when Helix gets under it. But my goal now is for it to be able to withstand the beating from tumbling VSes. Oh well, back to studying for now. :D

I dont think it is possible to BFE a robot to make its chassis wedge good

ItI's success is partly because of the arena. PitA 8 kicks ITI's ass every single time in the combat arena...

I believe the success of ITI is related to the fact that the BBEANS floor uses the same floor as the Infinity Arena. Plane01 is flatter than any other type of GMF object (such as the one used for the floor of the Combat Arena) while being completely transparent, low lag, and built-in.

The smoothness of the floor allows wedges to work better with a smaller margin of inconsistencies that would have been caused by the arena itself. For some reason, the chassis usually vibrates more on standard GMF objects (thats why when you use an empty chassis inside of the test arena, it still moves after falling to the floor). Of course, this is all just speculation.

I've noticed the same, Trov.  The beta Dragstrip arena of CB's had several aspects incomplete, so I took a geomobject and made it a floor,... and it was very rough(not flat).  So rough that fast bots would not stay straight on it.  I was surprised to learn that of a simple 8-vertice, 'cubed' geomobject.
Input is appreciated. :)

Yes, i've noticed that Stock-style wedges wobble more in the test arena than in the combat arena.

So ItI won because of that  ...That has to be the gheyest winning streak ever.

No, Naryar would just exploit it with his REALISTIC* DSL BOTS.

I just remembered what Alterer of Reality did before BBEANS 5.
It was to some page about unbeaten bots or something on the wiki, and he had added Insult to Injury V, and someone just deleted it with the little note: noob.
Little did we all know...
I built that big robot on that TV show that time

^^^ Hmm.. must've missed that part. XD

Oh well, after two days of tweaking, I found out that Z-Teks make the whole bot wobble no matter how carefully tuned the wedges are. So just swapped them back to birds and changed the weapon setup. So here's Helix 2:

Shrank the chassis, and the weapon motors are more protected. Wedges still remain wedgy (might be even wedgier than the first one) and now has a fighting chance against HSes. :D

@ S32 - I did, but for some reason both left wedges go under both chassis, making me unable to determine which one is wedgier. I just test it against other bots and check the ratios.

Heavily inspired by FB's Red Tide IV (the one in BBEANS4 is VI, which has only one drum. IV has two drums - the bottom drum spins up and the top one spins down), this bot is meant to be a quick killer.

Actually, both of Red Tide IV's drums spin up.  Your bot is more like my MW Allomancer.  But still very different.  Very good job making such a cool original bot in stock.  I can't think of any way you could improve it.

This business with the plane in the BBEANS arena bears looking into.  Could there be a way to defeat the "bot is only as good as its wedge" rule for DSL3?

To lack feeling is to be dead, but to act on every feeling is to be a child.
