phu54321's Robot Showcase
« on: March 18, 2014, 03:22:25 AM »
I'm new here. I've reading beetlebros's tutorial and tried to apply skills there to my bot.
This is one of my best bot.
I wish I could change the chassis without erasing everything mounted on. Motor breaks off too easily;

793.4kg, Heavyweight. This HS has 12 Mace + 24 Razor tips. Razors are meant to poke opponents. (Like Vortex CE)

This is internal.

This bot can move inverted. (Not as well as when it's not inverted;)
2 Battery stacked.

Woah thats a really good first bot you got there. Good job ;)

Some tips:
- Try not to use n-12 wheels, use shiny hubs instead;
- Instead of the green snappers you could 2 blue ones which only weighs 13 kg each;

Using Shiny wheel makes the bot not invertible. (Wheel too small) I'll use blue snapper at my next bot. Thanks for advice.

36HS test
« Reply #5 on: March 24, 2014, 03:59:14 AM »
Tried to create somewhat more traditional 36HS (24 Iron + 12 Mace)

It's hard to see inside the bot;

Inside : Control board + 2 Supervolt + 2 Stacked Snapper II + 4 HP Spinner + 2 Drive motor + 2 Slim wheel

Execuse for using slim wheel.

It turns too slowly;

 + Turning while not spinning the weapon makes havok explosion (Even in a testbed) in less than a second; I wonder why.

-- Edit

 - This bot always havoks.

Dude, awesome progress, 2nd post and already at 36 HS level  :thumbup. 1 tip for building 36 hs's, try to find a setup that only uses 1 extender for 1 drive motor and 2 weapon motors per snapper. By doing this, you can have 2 extenders for the weapons off the tribar therefore the maces/iron spikes hit at the same time. Keep up the good work ;)

The force is strong with this one.
Word of advice: rather than using slim wheels, try Grannies. They're lighter.

um no. use shinies.

if you can't attach the wheels, just snapper load the motors away. never use slims lol

I modified it a bit. I lowered the driving motor to make shinny hit the ground, and lost invertibility.

789.5kg.

But this bot flies and often flips itself. Havok sucks. :(

You shouldn't have to lose your invertibility. If you are, your setup is poor. Try using the other attachment point on the snapper to mount your drive, it might help with the havok. General rule of thumb though, if you have spinning weapons spinning on the same axis or rotation as the mount (servo, snapper, etc) you're going to have havok.

:facepalm:
I thought shinies were too small to make a 36 HS spinner invertable.
My apologies. :embarr
I'll let Sage handle this one, he's a pro.

Looks like you're using the side attachment of the ztek too. It's often best to try and get the flat side to flush with the floor so that it can drive properly with shinies.
Great progress though :)

Simple spikeball. Not drivable.

DSA. 2 batt stacked. Somewhat useless caster armor.

My first showcased bot wins against this bot at 50% chance.

Press F12 and show us how much it AGOD's  :gawe:
How you make Alarm Clock Pizza is:
Step 1: You buy an alarm clock from the store, and then you have to break it and put it in the sauce.
Step 2: Fold the sauce in 5 slices and put it in the dough.
Step 3: Paint the eggs with a pitcher of a clock showing what time you want to wake up and eat pizza for breakfast.
Step 4: Put the eggs in the dough.
Step 5: Make it flat into a round shape and draw the time you want on it.
Step 6: Put some old steel to prevent other peple from stealing it.
Step 7: Make it flat and cut into 60 slices 1 for each minute in 1 our.
Step 8: Put in the oven set the timer to 30048813.2884 seconds and put the temperature on 'Volcano' setting.
Step 9: If you think it is take to long, then get yor alarm clock and set it to now so that it will ring and you can take it out.
Step 10: Take it out uv the uvin wen it is redy and go to bed. In the morning eat pizza and also eat yor hands bi mistake.

Tried to create a rammer.
Quite vulnerable to attacks. (I wonder why)
Used pole spikes because, they have normals and the weapon will only act to the direction of normals. (maybe?)
6 wheel stacked. 794.0kg (over 794.00000, so I used 2 razors for side weapons) DSA

Anyway, what is AGOD?

The green meshes are what is actually hitting the opponent... when it doesn't line up with what you normally see, it's called AGOD (axle glitch of death).

Try using a blue snapper instead of a green one on the rammer.

I updated my second bot.

Somewhat weird motor stacking

Replaced weapons and wheel mount position. Now wheels don't get ripped off easily.
Replacing just the wheels made the bot unacceptably vulnerable. (No downside protection)
so I shifted maces downwards.

Turning the weapon in one direction somehow makes the bot invert itself.
Far much stable than the bot above

Some fightings in the attachment. In every fight, my bot was controlled by Omni AI.

Since this bot is now more like 24HS + 12HS, It gets beaten more by other HSs.

p.s)

Srimech don't seem to work with Omni AI. What have I forgot?

bindings.py:
    list.append(("Lab - Spin","Omni",{'invertible':True,'radius':0.5,'topspeed':99,'throttle':130,'turn':60,'turnspeed':5,'range':30,'weapons':(something I don't really understand)}))
 ( I also tried invertible:False )

p.s 2)
My RA2 freezes a LOT while I'm selecting robots. I had to restart my RA2 dozens of times to get all the attached images.
Is this a known issue? Can it be fixed? I'm using Ultimate Stock AI pack with Starcore V3 UI skin.

Have you deleted any teams in the Team HQ?  This can cause crashes when selecting your robot in exhibition.  To fix it, just fill up your HQ with new teams.

For the AI issue, it looks like you want the srimech to reverse the spin direction of the weapon motors.  Is this true?  If so, you want to wire the weapons with an analog control instead of a button (positive input = normal, negative input = srimech), and use VertSpinner.py instead of Omni.
