Flower Power may bring eternal peace to your bots.
This is a variation of the same idea

Title: another variation
Post by: philetbabe on May 26, 2008, 05:50:23 AM
here the variation is based on hammer.
The heavy bot is deadly for it breaks most of the weapon  and protection attached to other bots, then it deal with their core. It is also well protected.

Haha, third French on the forum!

Don't mix stock parts with DSL parts, because the first ones are underpowered.

PB, Very unique designs.  I need to go through them more closely when I've more time...
You should try to build for one of the Tourneys.  It's a challenge and allot of fun too...

Merci.

Translation for those who are not familiar with french:
Wellcome to the club Phietbabe (I aim to the french speaking part of the community). It seems, about building bots you have still to learn. However, I have to mention, you show a lot of interesting new ideas. My favorit is Hachoir. What seems to me very important, are your remarkable capacities in programming. There you can contribute a lot. Thank you.

Thank's for all your points of view.

I'm not the programming guru you expected to say, just have the minimum knowledge to try something.

I'll be very pleased to have some draw back about the package PhF100Opponents (see the thread and the download link under https://gametechmods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=749&page=2).
Indeed it works fine on my computer but does it work for others ? did i forget something in the package ? does any one have tried it and found it useful ? does any one have expanded the meccanism with other teams ? and so on...

just a picture done while usiong one of those glitch

https://gametechmods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=866

(ie while positionning an extender to the place you would like to attach it -ie motor/piston/burst motor- you click on the control button to make the motor spin then release the left button of your mouse : the extender is attached  in 'space' and that as long as you don't go to the test lab, it stay there : useful to avoid collision conflict.

for instance this let me attache 4 spikes to the LW instead of 1 :

Code: [Select]

  A           A               A     A
  !*          !             * !      !
  !           !             * !      !*
  !           !
  !           !
  !*        *!                             A : Spike  * attach point ! extender
  *
 Burst motor

134 kg on a DDT is way overkill.

Also you should use shinies when necessary, and please lighten your extender work.

So i continue slowly my RAGE2 adventure,

here are the bots that finaly let me go thru the stage 2.

they  are 3 LW and 2 HW (one is currently on BBEAN).
"Sweet Sir Walter" and "Julia Try" are titles of songs from Henri Purcell, a 'so british' composer.

To make RAGE2 more fun, after the stage 1, i did selected the opponent's teams randomly from a set from Gigafrost, Mad, starecore and other teams. I change them each season, so RAGE2 is never boring.

I will try MW for the stage 3.

Post by: philetbabe on July 17, 2009, 06:34:37 AM
for stage 3, i wish to deal with MW only.
the first 2 bots were failure.
The last one (target me II) compensate its lack of  "many-weapon" with speed and a very very good wedge.

Try to use shiny hubs on Target me 2, and then add a ramplate in the front attached to a baseplate anchor. That would keep the forward weight into the bot, just like the ballasts would do.

this is one (from many) of Gigafrost's gift in its RA2GE pack.

otherway copy arena/practice/ and arena /practice.py from DSL to Stock.

Ballasts, like Sage always says, are good at enhancing wedge effectiveness.

Way back in the day, before builders knew about the efficiency of wedges, they desgined their wedged bots ultimately by putting as much weight towards the front of the bot, as well as having enough slope. When you have weight and nothing to do with it, ballasts arent a horrible investment.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Anyways PhB, I like your bots generally, but in stock you are too sloppy with the extender work.

Last post before vacation .... :-))))

here are some bots build while i'm running RA2GE stage 3. Some are good, some are not, all must filled the constraint that they must be easy to drive because RA2GE is 'user-played'.

Tom sawer: Those Says are to big. Use smaller saws and faster motors, like Z teks. IMHO saws aren't ideal weapons in stock but are good for novelty bots. I Doubt people use them much thoigh, as you'd be better off with 2 razors on a T connector... Nice attempt though...

Dune Skatler: WTF?

Classy one: Nice HS, Not much to say here.

There are some other bots i use through my RA2GE Travel.
All series get a LW, a MW and a HW.
the same chassis is used for each bot of a serie (this is a self-imposed constraint).

Cyberpunk serie :

near Death Experience Serie :

Shame and Scandal Serie :

... and a gift for those who have read this post : the pack of "skull decals " (to put under RA2/texture_library/decals folder)
https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/skull.rar (https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/skull.rar)

i'm about 70% of RA2GE, ending stage 3, and still havin'g fun.

RA2GE Completion above 80%, and here some of the bot i use. the effort is much on the paint job  than on the building.

those wedge are too fragile. i have to admit that  the bot is not terrific.

I tried maces on a VS, but they don't work very well cause the bot wobbled. It might just be because of AGOD that said.

Lighter wheels would help as well...

So, i've finally finished RA2GE : lot of fun.
i will show you soon  the last bots i used for the last  events, only pointing interesting' bots.

here is a heavy one :

i will comment my RA2GE experiment soon on the thread made by gigafrost.
As i told it in another thread, i will also release the AI pack i used : a compilation of classical teams : a pack with more than 140 ones, and few of mines.

i was so shocked when i saw that it only had a nifty. but then i realized it was mostly pistons, so it works just fine.
are there 2 snappers on the right side of the bot?
Title: PhF bots
Post by: philetbabe on September 22, 2009, 02:24:51 PM
the 2 snappers hold the 2 snow plows and 2 ram plates that protect the bot
Title: PhF bots
Post by: roboman2444 on September 22, 2009, 02:26:23 PM
no two small snappers on the right
so a total of 5 snaps
Title: PhF bots
Post by: philetbabe on September 22, 2009, 02:32:35 PM
no there are 4 snappers, the picture on the top right shows the glitch used to attach the pistons.

Each of the 2 snappers (one on the front-left, the other on the front-right of the bot) holds 8 pistons for a total of 16.
on each piston only one weapon is mounted.

If you have time, could you record the custom component text files that RA2GE uses (I believe that ACAMS still needs a list of the custom components in several AI packs but I don't have time to unlock everything in RA2GE (even if I cheated to get them)).

i didn't at all to get the 96% T and Emu CODE. it appears that few did not work. But, what i did to 'go faster' was to select first the event that brings code, for 'newbies' i will explain that soon in the gigafrost thread .

ACAMS was asking for help here (https://gametechmods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2427) and to my knowledge, he is still planning something... I was working on the custom AI packs until I ran into RA2GE's unlockable system which at this point, still seems like an overwhelming amount of time. For the components and other unlockables that didn't work, maybe we could try and contact Gigafrost about these...

If you would like, I can send you a batch file that will record all the text files automatically. IMO, it makes the job a lot easier.

I've been looking forward to seeing your work on the stock AI pack. If you have any questions or need any help, feel free to ask.

BTW Hommage to Gigafrost looks pretty good but if you can find a way of using both attachment points on the blue snappers (without making the wedges worse) instead of having a separate green snapper, you may be able to have a wider range and gain enough extra weight to upgrade the wheels.
Title: PhF bots
Post by: ACAMS on September 23, 2009, 08:45:47 PM
I sure wish I had the batch file......even tho I have stock and DSL about done, there are lots more custom components to do. Notepad++ allows me to add text to the end of the text line, but does anybody know a program I can use to add text to the beginning of the lines. I need to add " to the front of the component name.

Please continue this in the proper thread so we don't mess up his showcase.

I'm new here, obviously, but have been playing this game for years. I just joined up to check out how others are doing with RA2 over Hamachi. Neways...

This area said "Stock Showcase"... but I'm seeing components that aren't in my stock pack.  .. for example, Target Me IIII has red blocks on the front... and the bot just above this post has yellow circle things I've never seen. Am I missing something?
Title: PhF bots
Post by: Reier on September 24, 2009, 10:29:06 AM
Nice to have you here. About the components, the "red blocks" are the gloves used by the robot The Boxer, and are unlockable by a patch. They are not called cheat parts because they came with the original game. About the yellow disks, they are normal disks with a skin. Almost all components can be painted out of game.
