NC's stock showcase
« on: June 11, 2011, 06:31:54 AM »
Alright, here it goes!

My first bot, iNCinerator. Not completely content yet. Paintjob still pending :) It's pretty much a copy from NFX's popup.

Weapons: 14 razors on two DDT's
Wedges: OK!
Defense: 6 ramplates + 2 60cm blades
Drivetrain: 4WD but it can't drive in a straight line (it has a pretty bad offset to the left, backwards worse then forward, care to explain?)
Power: 2 Big Volt's

60cm razors?
Better than GK since 2009.
I think SM is a pretty cool guy, eh builds unicycle-bots and doesn't afraid of anything

60cm razors?
Probably means blades.

Very nice first bot, the drive offset is something that often happens with bursted drive, hence why I just use axle loaded rows of drive.

Indeed, ment blades. And the drive ain't bursted, it's Snapper II'd.
Erp, I meant that; mounting your drive on servo's save weight but there are many trade-offs.
I'm guessing the ramplates are attached to the Snappers as well. Not always the best setup (I use 90 degree baseplate anchors adjacent to the from then attach some round extenders to them for mounting them) if you have some space but it's a decent way of mounting them.

EDIT: Why'd ya delete your post?

I did because someone (omg nice memory there) corrected me that bursted = snapper'd.

EDIT:
Is there a permanent fix for AGOD? My bot suffers from it badly and without pause break my bot is completely worthless.

Looks like a pretty good first bot to me. =] I have the same veering left problem with Halestorm 7, I think it's a case of AGOD, personally. If you're only using two Blackvolts, then I'd suggest Stacking them together. If you've attached the outer Ramplates with Baseplate Anchors, then you might want to attach the middle two with Baseplate Anchors as well. If you've attached them to the SnapperII's with 20cm extenders, then you could also drop the blades to 40cm to get the extra 4kg you need for it.

Sadly, there's no surefire cure for AGOD. There is a theory that exporting and importing into another empty slot in your bot lab will solve it, but I can't vouch for that, personally, as it hasn't worked for me.

Quick proof of concept for a (potentially) better popup (plow is optional):

Yes, I know there is one regular Z-tek there, it was just a placeholder.

Minus the plow that's pretty much the setup I used on "Generic Popup" :P

(yes I have a bot called generic popup)

What will be the effect of the plow on a popup? I think that, if placed properly, it gives you one or more perfect shots at the bottom of the enemy and potentially KO them instantly.

That's fine for a static drive popup.

R4 style blades are good for that too but weigh slightly more, however they tend to be less inclined to be destroyed by a HS.

A plow can be used for such a purpose, but a better plan is to have something that holds them at a raised angle, such as the "ears" on R4 in BBEANS5, or the wamming rack on Parabolic Trajectory 2 in my showcase. Plows don't have a large enough radius to actually scoop the opponent up, they tend to ram headfirst into it instead. Also, plows aren't as good as you'd expect, they only have 100HP for some reason, so I'd stick to Ramplates for Popup defense.

When motors are stacked like that, it causes problems....BUT I bet you have one of the motors wired wrong causing the problem. Go double check the wiring.

I triplechecked the wiring, and it's fine. I can give you the .bot and perhaps you can fix it?

I'm about 90-something percent certain that it's AGOD causing the problem.

Just attach your drive to the baseplate. Problem solved.

I don't think you really need wheelguards like this as well.

Anyways, well done for doing your lurking well. That would be very good for an average newcomer... but you are most certainly not one, so I guess good building is to be expected.

Lol I'm not an average newcomer  :baffled:

I made the drivetrain a LOT better. At first this couldn't drive straight, but now it can because I rotated the wheels o.0

I don't think so, the wheels are VERY safe from threats now, and just wait until I finished the snapper loading a bit.

In a battle... losing one wheel vs having the heart of your robot destroyed (the chassis) will give you more of a fighting chance.

I know that it does not correspond with real life logic (RA2 for yah) But, having the wheels take damage first is more productive in this case.

I doubt it, often you will lose not one, but two wheels at a time or right after eachother. Without drivetrain a popup is virtually worthless.

But I'll experiment with it.
