Linxus's little showcase
« on: December 22, 2011, 09:24:52 AM »

That is my HW rammer, Twist-o, powered by 6 Z-tek HP drive and has 16 iron spikes on piston. Armor is DSA.

Inside.

Only realistic DSL. Yes exceptions.

That's not terrible. Get rid of the angle extenders on the end of the weapon rack, they're only eating up weight ATM. Also get rid of the pink batteries (they're also eating up weight).

Good job on using DSA though, most newbies don't know how to do that.

Very nice for a first robot, I must say. Got the right armour, right drive, almost the right battery power. Have you been lurking at all?

What I would do is lose the Pink Batteries. Generally, they're a poor choice compared to the others with the exception of sub-lightweight bots. And Angle connectors are considered a waste of weight. You could use single-sided Ice Picks if you want to, they'd do a good amount of damage. I'd also try to get a second piston above the first one (you can raise it with the Ctrl key), and mount some more weaponry on it. If you want to see how this bot could be done, you might want to take a look at Stratocaster in BBEANS 5 and Ironbot. But good work nonetheless.

Very impressive for a new member. I'd remove the angle extenders on the ramming rack at the front and replace them with single sided ice picks. I'd remove the pink batteries as well and add another rack of weapons on another piston above.

Hey!  :welcome

Anyways... Great bot for a newbie. Good drive, good weapons, good armour.
2 small flaws that everyone has pointed out so faf though - Pinks and the angled connectors - replace them with more weapons.

Seems too good for a new member...

Thanks for replies, i some rechanged my bot, now it hasn't got pistons, but has a 30 irons and 2 razors =). I removed pinks too.

It beats Maelstrom from Starcore v1!

Nice work. =) Built to the weight limit, pretty good extender work, reasonably compact chassis, though could definitely stand to be compacted a little more. That would give you the weight for irons in place of the razors.

if you move the black batteries to the front you can shape the chassis into a kind of U which will get you more weight for weapons.

If you can stack the cb into the battery or put it above without changing the height, even better :D

is this bot don't lost all razors in a fight before do a damage thought

You can sufficiently power this off of one black.

Or Three Nifties. :gawe:
You mean two?

Looks good so far. If you ever come back to it and improve it, you could

a) Use one black and put the control board above it or stack inside it
b) Mount the HP Z-teks and possibly the weapons on SnapperIIs with snapper loading
c) Add protection to the top (ramplates), bottom (casters), or sides (ramplates or snowplows)
d) Align as many irons as you can so they are rotated the same way

Some of these things you may not know about, so check the Tutorials and Tips section or just use the search function for more information.

Aligning the irons won't do anything. It's a good first bot, no need to try to teach him snapper loading his early. Ramplates and casters will kill invertibility, shoe should NOT do that either. And he doesn't have the weight for side protection.

Right. He's going to keep working on it and you were sending him in the wrong direction with your advice.

Well everything I wanted to say had already been said, so I'm hoping he would look at that basic advice first.

1 slightly un-bot-related pointer, please crop your images down - we've all seen the botlab multiple times.
Looks good though, man! :D

Yeah, looks fine. But you can get away with only 1 battery and then add some single-sided ice picks to the end of the extenders.
Better than GK since 2009.
