I was wondering something...

Why do you love maces that much? Yes, there are generally better for defense, but technically they do less damage than irons...

It's all about the size, I think. Maces are easier to work with when building bots with intersecting weapons (36 HS, Drums) and take less time to place. With less time to make bots, you have more time to test and improve the bot in question.

They are actually harder to place next to each other, because of the bigger, rounder mesh, whereas iron spikes have the skinny, easy to stack mesh.

That's on the same tribar. But when you have two interescing tribars, or 4, it's harder to do that with Irons rather than maces, because you can't eFFe with intersecting irons.

Somebody's right.

You don't even need to eFFe to add irons on a "classic" 36 iron HS (with 2 extenders on each tribar tip), unlike maces.

Somebody is right. Nary and S32, wrong.

Yes the mesh for the maces absolutely suck, but it really doest affect much. And Nary, Maces do MORE damage than irons (check the .txt's d000d).

And I am pretty sure I am the one who started mass usage of the maces as weapons...

Well, if you say it, but about the txt's we have irons 0.8p/0.1c and maces 0.5p/0.5c, and with Click's damage potential formula, irons do slightly more damage.

Hey inf, why don't you build a 36 iron AC and put it against the 36 mace AC? Then post a vid or pic or something of tprobably the most destructive non-SHW match ever.

considering I (and Sage, yes) invented the 36 HS, there has already been many fights between mace ones and iron ones. The maces have NEVER lost. AC was originally Irons, switched to Maces when I discovered they were better.

It's the truth. I have gotten close many a time. what happens is the maces start falling off first, but then all the irons go away at about the same time. Maces  have shorter reach, but on an HS that doesn't matter, especially when they protect the extender. The main weakness of the HS design is the very vulerable extenders, so maces are the clear choice for most HS. Bearclaws are also very nice, but don't do as much damage. (I don't care what the .txt says. I have no reason to check except to defend my argument, which i don't have to unless someone attacks it. If the .txt says it's better, I don't care, cause I saw what happened to my 48 claw HS against AC.)

^Long parentheses. But the point is, Maces are very good, bearclaws are amazing for their weight, Irons have good reach but aren't very durable.

So that means we should start using maces instead of irons?

If you want. On some designs irons are needed for the reach (See, Oh Snap 2)

No, it means that Irons have lost their place as the Main choice for HS.

S32: that happened a long time ago.

Besides, irons offer next to no extender protection whatsoever. Against a mace HS, the extenders on iron HS's fall off incredibly easily, basically rendering the 3 spikes you had absoltely useless.

Bot-Test: Everyone was given the same chassis and you had to build a bot out of it. The contest had 3 judges (at the time I think it was eFFe, Pysc, and SpyGuy) and the three categories to be judges off of was Space Used, Effectiveness, and Originality I believed. There was going to be a second one, but there never really was a second one because there were all these unofficial ones on the side and no one ever really came up with a better category to be judged other than space used.
