Hell yeah inf.

Hope you actually stay here and build again. We need more than IRL building here.

The only reason I haven't stayed recently is because I've messed up many different computers in the past 18 months.

No matter, just brace yourselves.

Bear with me--- It's going to take a little while before I properly re-organize my initiatives entirely.

Let's start with this... the first 8 teams for II AI.  Bots named from top to bottom, left to right. (Green if the .bot files have been adequately recovered, Red if I could not find the proper .bot file, and Blue if I have the bot, but an obsolete version)

TEAM #1 --- Cuantem Fysix

(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/82248Cuantem Fysix.png)

Mini MaceD, Le\/eL III (I have Le\/eL II), Sonar 2, High Entropy AV (I have HE 2), Countdown 1.5 (have v.1), Artillery 1.5 (have v.1)

TEAM #2 --- Twists of Fate

(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/6168Twists of Fate.jpg)

Wavelength 2 (have v1), Spektrum, Medium II (even though I know I rebuilt this into a much, much better vIII), Emission 3, Diamond 4 (even though I believe I rebuilt this into v5 as well), Infra (completely missing)

TEAM #3 --- Malignant

Doomd, Incisor, PlagueD, Casualty, Paroxysm II, Platform of Death III (have really sh*tty v1)

TEAM #4 --- Enforcers

Patrol, Detector (def upgraded into v2), MaceD 2, Vanquish, Barrier, Silver Bullet 2 (not sure if I upgraded, but it needs to be...)

TEAM #5 --- Oblivion

PeaK, PulsE, MagiKK, Emulsify II, Pandemonium, Vertical Horizon 1.5

TEAM #6 --- Meltdown

Quark, Injection, Decay, Kinetic, Quell II, RxN II

TEAM #7 --- Polar Destroyers

(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/50806Polar Destroyers.png)

Ironcicle, ???, Aurora, Randomsh**tyPopup, Avalanche, ???

TEAM #8 --- NUMB

Disdain V, FaKtor II, Deep Blue IV, Minimum, MAXIMUM, Continuum Reborn

...Unfortunately it seems as if I have a lot of obsolete builds, and am missing a lot of the most recent rebuilds/builds/work I did...

<<FINISH BULK EDIT>>

Notice: Missing a lot of my work, so I'm going to work on these 8 teams first before I tinker with the latter 7.

Thanks VB, that definitely helped me with my inventory. However, almost none of the bots load into the bot lab. Ugh. Slow start

Edit: It's definitely something to do with smartzones, but I cant figure it out as I have already re-downloaded Madiaba's SZs.

well, safe to say I'm back for good and have a lot underway in terms of planning what I'm going to do. Expect a complete overhaul of whatever version AI people use of IIAI out there.

On that note, let's spark things up. Time to get anybody and everybody motivated to fill up their stock showcases and get this place movin' again.

I'm slow on returning to my building skills, but here's some proof that I've been formulating NEW material.

Started off as a Capacitor rebuild. and slowly worked itself into a whole new project. Chained HPZ and the expected. This is only v0.1, a mere teaser to the community, something to motivate... But advice would also be welcomed.

Just my personal opinion, I'd find a way to attach the drive closer to the chassis to lower the risk of losing it. All dem extenders scare me.
Title: Re: Inf. - The Rebirth
Post by: Trovaner on February 11, 2013, 07:05:18 PM
Cool bot. Does it have problems with tipping backwards? If you get it to almost scrape the floor then it would be leaning more forward and it will have a better chance of lifting bots off the ground.

That's weird looking, Nice bot though.

btw welcome back :)
Title: Re: Inf. - The Rebirth
Post by: infiniteinertia on February 11, 2013, 11:02:03 PM
^^^ Trov is right... much problems with tipping (forwards actually, in the arena itself not the lab). This one was as I said just a primary draft, I'm probably going to do what Trov said and shift everything forwards a bit, most likely with a smaller disk set. Also, I just remembered about that magic steel 140cm extender... so I'm probz gonna utilize that somewhere here.

Thanks for the welcome Mechadino! Hope my return inspires you.

In addition to what trov said, the steeper you tip the bot, the slower your turning becomes, to the point of not being able to turn. This one looks like it's in danger of coming close to that point.

Understandable, but it was not really that bad so I'm not that concerned.

4. Log back in for another hour.
5. Post bots.

Here's an update with what I've been doin'

A rebuild of one of my HW VSes, Vital Force. This will be Vital Force II.

Got just about 20kg left, looking for some helpful insight with suggested tweaks, additions, etc. Bot itself is pretty close to a finished product. Only thing it really has trouble with is stability from the rear, which I tried to address with the bracket wedge. Thoughts?

Also, can somebody PLEASE help me fix my "session error" issue? It is annoying that I can only post to the forum from my mobile device. Nothing that anybody suggested has mitigated the problem. *cough* *maybe Trov* *anybody*
Title: Re: Inf. - The Rebirth
Post by: Sage on February 19, 2013, 04:19:30 PM
You could put blades on the wedges with that extra weight?

And your browser must be weird cause the cookies and relog works for everyone else.
Title: Re: Inf. - The Rebirth
Post by: infiniteinertia on February 19, 2013, 04:30:12 PM
I think I finally fixed it...

But after testing I found out:

-Big disks = big targets
-Less than satisfactory stability (rocks forwards/back a bit)
-Very effective, can take out bots of all varieties

I also switched the wedges to those steel 140cm ones, so I have ~30kg left to spare now.
Title: Re: Inf. - The Rebirth
Post by: infiniteinertia on February 19, 2013, 05:37:05 PM
NOW I CAN'T POST ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!
Title: Re: Inf. - The Rebirth
Post by: Sage on February 19, 2013, 05:46:06 PM
the rocking may be due to the Y connectors?
Title: Re: Inf. - The Rebirth
Post by: infiniteinertia on February 19, 2013, 06:41:33 PM
ya it's looking like it's it to the Y connectors, don't know why they make this bot so unstable in particular. I'm also going to probably go a disk size smaller and get the center of gravity closer to the ground.

meanwhile I cant post from my computer again  :realmad(
Title: Re: Inf. - The Rebirth
Post by: ianh05 on February 19, 2013, 06:57:35 PM
The forum can't handle Inf's awesomeness. It is pretty annoying having to clear the cache every time the forum spazzes out, but Trov is working on it.
Title: Re: Inf. - The Rebirth
Post by: Trovaner on February 19, 2013, 07:08:25 PM
Yeah, I'm still looking into it. Please be patient.

Nice bot. It has been awhile since I last saw a VS with weapon motors that weren't mounted onto snappers. I find it to be refreshingly different.

Once again, I'm sorry for the inconvenience that this login issue is causing.
Title: Re: Inf. - The Rebirth
Post by: infiniteinertia on February 19, 2013, 09:50:06 PM
Here it is, final edition.

I give you my first complete build since my return :3 Vital Force II!

^^^new and improved setup
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/34277vf2 inside.png)
^^^insides

Tested it out against PYS AI (only one I can get to function properly -_-) and it handled everything mighty well, except for HSes. It does a more than satisfactory job against HSes however, especially for a 2WD VS. Really proud of this one! Chassis is a dope shape as well, I will be making a sweeeeeet skin for it soon! (sorry for the ugly one in the splash...)

Enjoy! More to come.
Title: Re: Inf. - The Rebirth
Post by: Pwnator on February 19, 2013, 10:38:44 PM
Totally digging the motor guards. Still can't believe how ridiculously simple the setup is.
Title: Re: Inf. - The Rebirth
Post by: Sage on February 19, 2013, 10:39:31 PM
It's amazing how much better it looks from the first one, and how much more Inf-like. Is the rear stability okay without the bracket?
Title: Re: Inf. - The Rebirth
Post by: infiniteinertia on February 19, 2013, 11:41:10 PM
Pwn:     That is the main component of my current review&rebuild process. Maximize what I can simplify. Snapper loading/stacking is great and all, but not applications require it. Here you see maximum use of axle loading. As for the motor guards: that's kinda a new thing for me. I'm really happy I manufactured this specific setup for VF2. I tried at first to protect the disks better, but I couldn't work a proper setup. I settled. I'm not well known to be very defense oriented. Definitely an x-factor for my building going forward.

Sage: This edition is a lot better in terms of that 'rocking' effect you get in VSes. This one is a lot more stable, as the center of gravity is both closer to the ground and closer to the front of the bot. The wedges also rock....... And I'm so happy it looks inf-like  :approve:  I  thought I might never get my touch back  :rage !!

I give you, the first of its kind in my collection.....my first MW Wammer....... Xenophontis AKA WAMSTA'

It more than satisfied what I desired. Hit or miss with Heavy HSes, but that's about it. A real force, and the first real good Wammer I ever built.

Title: Re: Inf. - The Rebirth
Post by: ianh05 on February 21, 2013, 05:43:01 AM
Is there any way that you can get the extenders inside the chassis for protection? or perhaps face one lot of razors down the chassis wedge?
Title: Re: Inf. - The Rebirth
Post by: infiniteinertia on February 21, 2013, 09:54:06 AM
PWN: simple, a few dank hits xD Plus, I've had a lot of RA2 bottled up in me for what....3 years now? Yeah, it's been like 3 years since I've consistently been here *mind blown*

IANH05: That's something I was thinking about. Weakest point of the weapons is the middle most rack mounted off of the [very exposed] T connector. Since those razors are snapper mounted, i'm going to find a more clever and less exposed way of arranging them.

With all that said...This bot absolutely outperforms my expectations. Not flashy, but very effective.

Also anyone have a PS CS6 copy..... xP *jokes* *but not really jokes*

NEED MOAR INTEREST

...so SHAZAM! Another rebuild!

I give you Glacial Shard! The rebuild of the lightweight formerly known as Photon (give me some patience with the names, there will be a few changes, I'm still working out the new lineups the next update of IIAI). Photon was one of the bots users told me needed a priority upgrade.

2 pinks for power, 1 mace&2 razors, green snapper for the wedge...

I'm gonna go battle test while I hear some thoughts.

Title: Re: Inf. - The Rebirth

pretty good build, but IMO it looks a bit narrow. do you have any weight left to make the front wider?
Title: Re: Inf. - The Rebirth
Post by: ty4er on February 21, 2013, 02:09:49 PM
What's that? LW version, you say? I don't see why not!

DSA, 80cm piston. It doesn't drive straight, but the AI will fix that. Also, as of that battleshot, it only has one pink (partially stacked with the CB). I'll get the second one stacked when I'm patient enough. :P

And yeah, I'm thinking that would make a nice rebuild for Photon as well.
Title: Re: Inf. - The Rebirth
Post by: infiniteinertia on February 21, 2013, 02:32:08 PM
ty4er: my setup is different (weight saving), drives straight, and has an extra weapon. thx tho

mrAsawce: umm yeah thought the same thing when it came out. Have like ~4 kgs ima do some thinking. In testing it pretty much rapes anything but HS, as expected. A LOT more balanced and wedgy than the ol' Photon (rip).

Kossokoi: im old (not really) please inform me about the paint.net sensation

KOSSOKEI: sry i'll get used to spelling it right now

PWN: Your's was actually very close to mine...loook at your bot and realllllly think about the fatal error you made :3
I could take out that extender protecting the wedge and make the chassis a little narrower, but I didn't do it because my weapons would be off-center if I try the vertical arrangement instead of a horizontal one. D:

Plus my weapons are slightly behind the chassis slope. I figured it would pack a stronger punch that way, but I actually haven't tested if it does so or not lol.

quick update:

found some of my more recent bots, including Radiance IV. Which I decided to give a snazzy new skin \/\/\/

And then, NEW BOT (revision).....I give you a remake of a classic... MaximuM II!!!

(yes same chassis as Radiance ^_^)

probably will post another bot or two tonight. enjoy!

Maximum II is definitely better than the original.

I could have made a new chassis for it, but it would not have been very different at all from RadianceIV's. I contemplated a more unorthodox chassis shape, but it would have required way more connection points. I just opted to be simple and efficient. In result, I upgraded a lot of the basics on MaximuM and it is a better performer.

One hit KO???

i think so!

MaximuM II absolutely launches bots. For some reason, a lot more so than MxMI. WoS is still in midair in that shot. It really has devastating power when it lands.

Using no airtanks would be pointless.....would completely make useless the method behind this bot.

But seriously tho, smexy bots.

My thoughts exactly. I don't know why RIV's chassis is like that...I rarely let that go. But I'm lazy now with the sheer quantity of bots I need to complete and the weight savings would not be too significant I'd imagine.

You released a carbon fibres textures pack Venk? If so that would save my awesome skinning a lot of time.

Anyway, as soon as this hits page 8, I'll start the preview of IIAI 1.0 Teams

EDIT: PAGE 8!!! HERE WE GO (I will mark in my thread's Table of Contents at a later date that this page will be the index for all IIAI v1.0 teams)

KEY:
! = Rebuild being considered
! = Rebuild being planned
! = Rebuild underway
!!! = Bot not currently planned

TEAM #1 --- Twists of Fate

TOP (L to R): Spektrum II, Patrol, Emission II
BOTTOM (L to R): Vanquish II, Diamond IV, Radiance IV

Yup, that means the original first team of IIAI, Cuantem Fysix, is no more. (In fact, the teams for IIAI v1.0 are new for the most part. I believe I only retained 5-6 of my original themed teams.)

EDIT: Spektrum II added (3/11/13)

TEAM #2 --- Inside the Storm

TOP (L to R): Category 1, Spin Cycle L, Category 3
BOTTOM (L to R): Spin Cycle M, Category 5, SeVerE II

This bot is mainly all SnS themed, with the exception of SeVerE II, as staying true to the original pack release. All of these bots are the same from the primary release other than SeVerE II. Not sure if I will update SeVerE again or not.

TEAM #3 --- The Enforcers

TOP (L to R): Detector II, PeaK, (MW Heavy Piston Poker; not yet planned)
BOTTOM (L to R): Sonar II, Barrier, Artillery II

That's right, another original team from IIAI is cut. The Enforcers move up to replace the team formerly known as Malignant. Still have a bit of work to do on this team, including one entirely new project.

TEAM #4 --- MELTDOWN

TOP (L to R): Injection, Quark, Greenspawn
BOTTOM (L to R): Deuterium, Quell II, Absolute Chaos

The Classic HS/VS team. Two bots still need to be rebuilt, with possibly an upgrade for AC coming as well...

TEAM #5 --- Oblivion

TOP (L to R): Starduster, TriWarp, Emulsify II
BOTTOM (L to R): High Entropy III, Pandemonium!, Vertical Horizon II

TEAM #6 --- Kold Fuzeonz Kreations

TOP (L to R): Katalyst, eleKtro, Xenon
BOTTOM (L to R): Medium III, Vital Force II, Halogen

This team is quite changed from it's previous installment. eleKtro replaces sKorpion from Elemental, Katalyst replaces Spore from Elemental as well, and Xenon replaces Kryogen. Medium III is new and upgraded, with Vital Force II a new and improved design as well. Look for Halogen to be rebuilt/renamed into a HW version of Medium in the future.

Another HS/VS team. Only Vertical Horizon still needs to be completed, and the Mk.3 build is about 50% complete.

I don't really see what's wrong with Emission. Lil' dude still nasty against wedges. And Vanquish as well, unless the new one has DSA.

Seriously though, if only half of the bots are retained, I can't wait for what else you could come up with, considering that most of the bots are still battle-worthy up to this day.
Title: Re: Inf. - The Rebirth
Post by: infiniteinertia on March 08, 2013, 08:53:14 AM
Emission is the most likely out of those three to be retained. Patrol rebuild is already underway. Spektrum needs some originality, because I had many LW HSes use the same identical setup.

Vanquish II has DSA and a better chassis setup at the expense of one razor.

Team #2 should be up later. More complete than Twists of Fate.

Aye, updated the Twists of Fate team splash because of the upgrade to Spektrum:

Here's a close up shot.

Debate the upgrade all you want. May not drive perfect now but the weapons are now a lot less fragile and it seems to hit harder. I know the top extender makes the weapon system vulnerable to hammers and whatnot, but idrc. I'm going for my traditional flare here.

EDIT: Dont know why I posted without giving him a nice skin.....I will later after baseball.

Those extender guards look awesome.

If you have the weight, I would consider making the three extenders that connect to the tribar into 40cm extenders to increase the diameter of the bot. I would also do some testing to make sure that it improves performance.

Invertibility is also a concern for that design. There has to be a way of using the motors other AP to mount it without having an extender sticking out of the top.
Title: Re: Inf. - The Rebirth
Post by: Mr. AS on March 11, 2013, 01:55:43 PM
with the HPZ, try this sort of setup:

should make the top less of a weak point and improve invertability
Title: Re: Inf. - The Rebirth
Post by: infiniteinertia on March 11, 2013, 02:21:25 PM
I unfortunately don't have that extra weight Trov. I did have another bot in my pack similar to Spektrum with the 40cm extenders, and I haven't decided whether or not it will be included into the next update.

As for the way I mounted the motor: I was lazy and did not bother trying a different setup. Pretty stupid of me really... I will probably use something along the lines of what Mr.AS suggested to tweak it a bit.

Nope. Wasn't the razors causing the drive problem; it was the center of the tribar being a little bit lower than the wheels. Fixed it in the update below.

Agreed my man.

Anyways, slightly tweaked the snapper setup as AwesomeSawce recommended. Freed up a tad of weight but not enough to make a significant addition. Added a extender to guard the main extender in the back where the snapper arm is. Drives well now, and seems more deadly actually. Skin added as well.

ooo bretty gud, def liking that electric-blue edge line on the skin aswell as the rainbow gradient (or rather, spektum) on the top.

how well does it do against iron/mace/bear claw hs? the razors low HP has always been a turn-off for me when choosing a weapon for my hs

by the looks of it, it shouldnt harm it too much. that razor angling is also probably good for going up against wedges

Looks siiiick. Doesn't the guardian razor actually mitigate damage by blocking the other 2 though?

Nope. The new razor setup has a HUGE effect on the durability of the weapons. De-weapons the old Spektrum pretty much 100% of the time, or it destroys it first.

Awesome. I've been thinking how a LW HS would be if all the razors went around that chassis instead of just pointing out, perhaps you could try that out?

Built this the other night. Haven't gotten a chance to post it yet because I've been so busy with spring break baseball.

Future update for Se\/erE (SeVere II)

However, I'm not quite 100% satisfied with it. I mean, it wayyyy out performs the old Se\/ere, but it is just not clean enough for my tastes yet. Retains the same basic components of the old one (4HP drive w/ rubz, 4 blacks, 2DDTs w/4 razors each, lotta caster armor), the big upgrade being DDTs for wedges instead of the sucky blue snappers. However, the wedges aren't wide enough for my taste, and it currently weighs in at 796.4kg. Meaning I have no weight to widen them even by 20cm.

I am interested to hear suggestions from other builders on possible tweaks before I make a final edition w/ skin. I tried to do my best to give a clear look of the insides, but it was very hard to do with the setup I utilized.

FYI, 6kg of extenders for each blue snapper (1 20cm, 1 40cm), and the wedges are on 80cm ones. Also slight AGOD on two of the drive motors, but for some reason it doesn't AGOD  what-so-ever in battle. Wedgy-ness against RPB&NWB is 50/50; not elite but much better than before (mostly due to narrowness).

he could always just do that with the 2 pairs of blacks next to each other.

personally i would use 2 blacks (1 pair stacked) since that puts out 1600 electotal, while both the DDTs and the 4 HPZ drive use 1400, but im probably going to try out a 4 black popup and see how it does vs 2 blacks

I give you Death Switch, the replacement for the original Switch of Death for the next installment of IIAI. Pretty much a finished project, I am really happy with it. Only thing is that it is a tad underweight... I just don't know what to add since I cant stack on any more weapons. That's the only thing that I am really looking for advice wise...what to add with all the weight available.

All components can be seen in the insides shot........3 blacks, not 4.

Anyways, enjoy!

I could, but the weapon DDTs are already bursted...and I figured I'd spare 30kg on this one towards armor/protection.

..I think I'll try to mount a plow in the middle to protect the "dustpan" walls a bit...and maybe just blades on the wedges.
Title: Re: Inf. - The Rebirth
Post by: Naryar on March 20, 2013, 11:41:19 AM
I would stack more mowers or ramplates in there using another 20cm off the extender that directly holds the outward mowers. 4000hp protection doesn't look like a lot.
Title: Re: Inf. - The Rebirth
Post by: ianh05 on March 20, 2013, 11:45:54 AM
I still think side protection would be best, if a HS can turn it around with a hit to the mowers then the side is wide open for hits. Just make sure I can make AW versions for Stock Mini's :)
Title: Re: Inf. - The Rebirth
Post by: Venko on March 20, 2013, 06:56:24 PM
I'm also for a more protection. Probably a ramplate in the middle, under an angle of 45 from the floor, so it will protect the front and the top at the same time, also will follow the "line" of the bot. Also why is the triangle back side?
Was the stuff from my signature any useful to You? I can see, that You use some stuff from it.

yeah def needs more armor/wideness to keep up with HS. try to find a extender setup that lets you put on 2 more lawnmower blades, you should have just enough weight for 2 more extenders and 2 more LB's

I maintain my position..."if you cant build stock, your credibility is alot less because this is the original game."...DSL is supposed to be for more advanced builders but idgad

you should build stock

anyways, you will see Death Switch in the upcoming Tusslers 2...hoping for some tasteful entries from my opponents as well

Update to one of my very first bots, I give you High Entropy III !

Looking for possible suggestions on a different stabilizer setup....possibly one that does not use snowplows
Title: Re: Inf. - The Rebirth

Tell us the weight so far...
You can always use just a long extenders for a stabilizers...
Title: Re: Inf. - The Rebirth
Post by: infiniteinertia on March 23, 2013, 08:15:04 AM
Weight is ~397, extenders start far back sooooo just using long extenders really isn't an option.

Plus, if you load the wheels out, you might be able to rotate the plows back a notch for a wider stance.

your technicality and mechanical finesse (not unlike that of the Aztecs, Greeks, etc)

Can I have the number of your dealer?

Not a Popup Fan, But that Y chassis looks sexy as , albiet wasteful of weight.

I'd probably shave a few KG from the inward corners at the cental bit, and then invest in armour for the wheels.

Click chassis tab > spin motors > quickly click components tab > repeat.
This would seem tedious for any motor faster than a bird, though. I just attach a RAD to the motor and load it out, attach a wheel and pause immediately after spinning (so neither the wheel nor the axle would be in front of the motor), and just do everything else.

my only problem is that the lw popup is incredibly narrow, and narrow bots almost always get destroyed by HS. or do the casters help it hold out long enough to get some good hits on hs...?

It's a true popup A, and yes the casters do a great job of deflecting hits with the way they are set up. might take a similar approach to buiilding hammers...

First weapon setup was wider, more of a FS/VS combo, but the weapon motors got ripped off way too easy.

I was thinking something along these lines yes, and ill rid of the snowplows (filler weight rn) for max poss razors. Just need to come up with a viable/effective setup.

lets breathe some life into this place shall we?

pretty standard lw. if not for havok it would be much better, hence the name. redbird drive, rad weapon motors, nifty power. sorry for the lazy skin/splash, i do not currenly have a working standalone version of photoshop.

gonna revisit my old ai pack and use that as my motivation to build/upgrade.

Not sure if you knew but stock building devolved a lot on the whole unfortunately since the component freedom mod got released.

i didn't bother to share internals because there was not a ton to see, and you pretty much guessed the setup spot on.

i'm not worried about the component-limit mod affecting how stock should be approached/played. anyone can count to seven so keeping things in line shouldn't be that difficult. otherwise i dont see how it affects building unless there is some other benefit to it i am not aware of.

edit: ah the component intersection.

well my quick 2cents: dont use the freedom tool and expect any respect from me unless it is for-fun purposes only. i wont be fooling with it.

Infinite's right. It's like seeing the insides of a generic 36 hs. You already know what it has in it because many bot builders have made this design.

not sure if my bots being tested and beaten for a splash is a good thing or not

Good to see you back to building dude, looks like ya still got it.  Solid build overall, if a tad generic.  If havok seems to be a big issue, the only thing I can suggest is a vertical snapper setup rather than a horizontal one, cause most of my horizontal setups tend to either AGOD, havok like crazy or both.  Though it might feel like you might have to sacrifice armor to do so, or maybe not depending on if the extender setup I guess.

dreamcast-
it is pretty much impossible to upgrade the battery in any case here unfortunately without making serious sacrifices, which this bot itself already makes.

red ace-
its definitely no landmark design, but it was just something to prove i could still pack a lot into a tight package, serve as a rebuild for an older bot, and also serve a stepping stone into something larger overall...

... AND what would that be?

I am taking a stance against stacked Horizontal spinners in the stock mode of this game.

That may sound absolutely crazy coming from the father of the 36HS ( ME ,  NOT Sage  ;) :p ) but it has been something that this game has needed in the stock mode for a long time coming. Bots that use horizontal spinners must follow certain parameters, which I would be glad to expand upon. if people want to hear it...

Because frankly, the unbalanced nature of horizontal spinners i am sure killed a lot of interest for many builders in this game, not to mention the generic identity that stacked & burst/servo enhanced horizontal spinners developed as designs became more and more optimized.

For every healthy game, there needs to be some sort of game balancing, and this may be the first step in a long line of steps that needs to be taken in order to make the stock version of this game both more interesting for people to play and more competitively balanced overall.

I'd like to see INf. build another famous mace HS. Absolute Chaos is a little outdated.

someone fetch me the ban-hammer for this FOOL!

anyways here are my ideas on the horizontal spinner limitation parameters:

LWs: No tribar horizontal spinners allowed to have more than 1 weapon per tribar tip, if the weapon motor is snapper/servo loaded. if the weapon system is baseplate/anchor mounted, the bot is exempt from the rule.

MWs: Only one tribar horizontal spinner is allowed to have more than 1 weapon per tribar tip, if the weapon motor is snapper/servo loaded. if running this setup, only one horizontal weapon is permitted. if the weapon system is baseplate/anchor mounted, the bot is exempt from the rule.

HWs: Only two tribar horizontal spinners are allowed to have more than 1 weapon per tribar tip, if the weapon motor is snapper/servo loaded. if running this setup, a maximum of two horizontal weapons are permitted. if the weapon system is baseplate/anchor mounted, the bot is exempt from the rule.

Also--in any weight-class--- "Sit & Spinners" that use a weapon setup that feature horizontal spinners are BANNED. Project Trinity style setups are also BANNED.

this is a very basic starting point, but please let me know your feedback on the matter. i firmly believe such implementations would provide the necessary re-balancing the stock format needs.

When we ban SNS, then popups will return to their former glory, and stock becomes "who has the best wedge" (which is kinda already is if not for HS).
And then stilt bots take over
I like this plan

I forgot to add SnS parameters in the original post, which have been updated/edited.

and i dont think that it will be a battle of wedges following this, most bots use wedges anyway. I think it will really open up the variety of effective bots you will see in all weight classes.

I don't see how that fixes much. As Sage said, without good HSs the meta just shifts to wedge wars. Popups are so good because they both have a chance against HS and tend to be easier to give a good wedge.

Also the LW rules will just get you a 9HS anyway.

i strongly refute the idea that this implementation will lead to wedge wars. ive done plenty of testing over the past few days to say that popups will not have any unfair advantage under these rules. wedges on a bot have always been an advantage as opposed to non wedged bots, so nothing is going to change there.

also, servo/snapper enhanced weapon motors have a great effect on the speed at which the tribars spin. i'm totally fine with a horizontal spinner at the lightweight level with a 9 weapon tribar if the weapon is un-enhanced. its harder for them to take hits and get back up to speed this way.

i think you should host a tourney with the new rules and see how it goes

i will agree with S_M, nerfing HS in the current meta will just make stock a wedge war (SEE : DSL)

or you'll see stupid sh** like heavily armored HS (maybe with casters) as a popup counter

i mean idk i think we've been seeing the most diversity with stock bots in the last while, hs arent the reason why people are losing interest in stock
if you put these rules in itll turn into either popups or specific anti popup gimmicky bots, with another bot type later becoming slightly more prominent than any others at dealing with popups and whatever else is left in the meta, either this or someone cheeses these 'rules' causing them to be changed constantly while others just dont even try anymore

Popups are overrated. Again, going on what Sage said- no good HS, it would be wedge wars, and wedge wars are really, really boring.
Bringing in good HS makes fights worth the watch.
