Title: HvitrEbrithil Showcase
Post by: HvitrEbrithil on September 30, 2008, 12:45:00 PM
This is currently my best bot, made as a crap copy of Absolute Chaos, which everyone should (and probably are) lokking up to.
Some data:

Some images:
It pwns the AI Bots, but they're so crap anyway.. :S
I have yet to try it against any other person, since I'm like the only one in my entire "village" that plays it :P

Please do give feedback! :D

First thing, this should be posted in the Robot Designs area, not here. Now, the bot:

-The chassis is too large, try to make it as small as possible.
-Could we see an inside picture? I can tell it needs some work but I/others could help you more if you showed us the inside.
-Perhaps look at other peoples bots, although I see that you tried to make it after Absolute Chaos...

Sorry, I'm not sure what else to say at the moment, again an inside picture would be helpful.
:)

AAAH huge chassis!1!1!one! Make it smaller.

Even my personal über stacked HW HS is largely inferior to AC, and Inf is a HS specialist who builds since more than two years (i suppose)...

You have a damn good bunch of work to do if you want to copy AC!

And have a look at all the HS in the showcases. Best tip i can give to you.

ROFL @ II...

@Hvit- There are LOADS of AI packs that would test out and improve your skills. Here is the list of some packs that you should try out (found on gametechmods under downloads/ai packs):

Step 1- Easy/Medium - RA2GE Patch and/or RA2GE Awesome Patch Series

Step 2- Medium Hard- DSL-TC Series

Step 3- Hard- Starcore Series

Step 4- VERY HARD- PSY AI Pack

There is also some more packs being built at the moment. I think there's three that are revealed to the forum?

Inf: LOL.

Giga, the Pys AI pack is seriously more difficult that Starcore 3, IMO.

i'd say dsl serioes was a mod rather than ai pack. i'd say

easy: gigas AI pack (apparently because i have never tried it)
medium: starcore 1
medium hard: starcore 2
hard: starcore 3/4 maybe....
very hard: pys ai pack

Huh, I did:

RFS packs,
UBERMOD 1 and 2,
Starcore 1,
Starcore 2,
PYS AI, then Starcore 3.

Whats with the big chassis man?  The bot needs huge improvement.
A: Reduce the size.
B: Whats the guts any way? I highly think theres batt over load. And wasted space. And poor drive.
C: Find the AI parts thing. It gives you the blue snaper. With a reduced chassis, You could fit four or more weapons motors.
I know I'm a bit of a newbie myself, but I think I learned plenty to say that your bot needs work.

Didn't know this was the wrong forum :P
And no, you didn't fight me online, since I haven't played online :P
and there's a reason I called it AbsoluteChaos BadyCopy :P
It's just; to reduce the chassis size, I have to delete all the components... If there isn't any better way to do this, I'm simply to lazy to build my robots fifteen times...

And inside view (prepare for a shock of empty space :S

BTW:
Maces high:

Weight: 797.6
Motors: 4x HPZ-Tek
Weapons: Some long-maces and some spikes

Sorry dude, your going to need to rebuild your bots a few times, after awhile it should take you less tries though. :)

For the first bot:
- You don't need that pink battery
- Make the chassis smaller. At the screen where you can change the chassis height, put the bar all the way to the bottom and go four notches up. You can fit most parts in the bot like this.
- I'm not sure what else, check out some tutorials and take a look at some other bots people have made. Some good builders are: Infinite, Sage and Pyscolone.

Obviously the "bit of a newbie" failed, because that bot's drive is good for a HW HS, right motors and right wheels, and it is NOT overpowered. It is slightly underpowered, in fact you need two black batts to power 8 HP Z-teks.

Pretty nice for a newcomer, HE. But there are some things to do:

-Empty space, as everyone said. You will have to rebuild your chassis several times and find another more compact setup.

-This high placed spinner looks useless to me. You should perhaps put more maces on your other spinners (use a round extender).

-Get rid of that pink batt. You could perhaps add a nifty, but see first if your bot still has a decent battery charge after 3mins.

-This chassis height is, well, enormous.

Have a look at the RA2 Wiki and the beetlebros.gametechmods.com site, there are great building tutorials right there.

And Andrew's right, you could copy other bots/designs/setups for learning.

R1885 has a point but first you will need how to overlap and practice your building skills.

I don't showcase anymore sadly, even though I probably have built well more bots than anyone. I have an AI pack coming out soon which really shouldnt be a secret anymore that will include 15 teams of my own bots (90 bots, 30/30/30 LW, MW, HW) and hopefully 15 QUALITY Teams from community members, and I'll have a bunch of my bots (all of them) in the promotional video.

So yeah I dont have much to show till then.

Wow, I just noticed you don't have a showcase... Well you still have some bots on your robot challenges showcase to look at. Thats cool that you're making an AI pack, should be a very tough one. It will probably be awhile before it comes out though right?

Don't make your text large like that.

I forgot about Maces High. I would suggest getting rid of all those pink batteries, they don't do much for a HW. For a HW bot you should only have black batteries and maybe red ones. Pink are good for LW bots. Again, shrink the chassis as much as possible, even though this will require re-doing everything a couple of times. Not bad though. :)

Ah, I hate to redo the bot! :P
Is there any way to open a ".BOT" file in a notepad-like program..?
Then I could just edit it from there (of course depending on how the ".BOT"-files are compiled.. and if it's allowed?).

Can be made but not acceptable. Editing the bot file is called AAM (Advanced Attachment Method) and considered as cheating.

But fi you don't exceed the basic perimeters for bot building..? Like everything's as it should be..?
Title: HvitrEbrithil Showcase
Post by: Naryar on October 03, 2008, 07:25:46 AM
Nope. With AAM you could put Absolute Chaos in an antweight chassis. ACAMS did the smallest bot ever with AAM, in DSL, but still it's not for serious fights (or perhaps against Sir Killalot)

Then I wont do it.
Not that I have any idea what an antweight chassis is :l

Hmmm

Something like a chassis that weights 20kg. You could have a look at my antweight VS, the small thing with the chewblade, in my showcase.

You mean you can manually input the weight of the chassis?

No! Just a very small chassis.

But you can made a HW a MW with bot file editing, that said.

At Endrate, got any more bots to showcase?

My new HS weighs 19.6 kgs without AAM.

4WD RAD drive = fail. Especially on a HW. And all these small batts are useless.

Get 2WD HP Z-tek drive. Lighter and way more powerful.

And also completely unpossible to control... If you have a:
...___________
./...................\
|....................|
.\____________/

kidan robot, it would have problems keeping itself up with only 2 wheels. And then I wouldn't have room for the big batteries. And the small batteries are for battery-duration. If you allready have a heavyweight, one might as well make it as close to 800 lbs, right..?

How about trying first?

All the good HW horizontal spinners here -including AC that you wanted to copy- use 2WD Z-tek or HP Z-tek, and generally two black batts (but yours need two blacks and a nifty).

Just have a look at the other showcases.
