I was having a hard time putting razors on so I just went with the pole spikes for now

And the one and only reason I chose (choose?) a circular shaped chassis was for the paint job, The original design for this guy was a cross shape but its not like im going to enter this guy in any contests so the circular shape is a lot more aesthetically pleasing...

EDIT

Replaced pole spikes with iron spikes and removed the maces at the ends (as they wouldnt fit with iron spikes) and the pole spikes seemed a lot better... Got a much quicker KO on Emergency and coalminer using pole spikes...

Pole spikes fail miserably.

No.

If anything, it's probably the 3rd or 4th best choice out there (under maces, pointy tips, and/or razors). But the circular chassis is still wasted weight (though it is hypnotizing :P)

And you can actually make it invertible with shinies only. Just drag the chassis height down as low as you can and raise it by 5 clicks.

It is not too much of a problem that it only spins one direction. Definitely switch the pole spikes for razor tips. Switch out the outer razors for iron spikes with the weight saved, and remove a few of the farthest inward spikes to turn more razors to irons.

Try rotating the razors till they are no longer red when they snap onto the position (hold shift I think to rotate when they "snap into place before you place them in"). This is the fundamentals to what we call "stacking".

Trust me on this, you will soon start loving the squareish chassis.

Pole spikes do not fail miserably... they're not the best weapon choice here, yes, but what would really fail miserably would be battle axes or lawnmover blades.

So pole spikes dont fail ay?

Chalk 1 up for the noobie

Anyway, seriously dont start thinking im one of those guys who cant understand weight management and so forth, all my bots have been shaped down to cram in as much as I can:

Example spoink:

But in this one particular instance I wanted to recreate the hypnotic feel that hypnodisc gives off being my fav bot on robot wars :P

But I also appreciate the advice and will bear it in mind in the future. :)

I would take a look at some of the LW HS in the BBEANS AI Pack for good examples of good HS.

Swish: Congratulations on your first Trinity Glitch bot. Fire the pistons while spinning at full speed, and watch the lunacy. =D

LW HS: Definitely needs some more reach, as Nar said. Turn the servo around 180 degrees, and possibly extend the plow a bit further. If you need weight, try using a SnapperII burst motor (square-ish one) instead of a Servo. Bit less accuracy, but saves a good chunk of weight, especially with an LW.

That's true. What he could do to solve that, is swap the positions of the servo and the battery.

But then I couldnt glitch the plow inside the servo motor using a base anchor as the extender would have to travel  through the battery, and I havent been able to stack a base anchor and an extender in a battery...

Nice ideas though and I hope to keep improving :)

Thanks everyone.

Ha :P

Yeah I can beat a lot of the starcore v1 bots just because they're exposed somewhere and have all the weaponry at the front so just drfit round, de-wheel and hit from behind as they spin around helplessly, also I dont understand what all the fuss was with alien queen in starcore v1... Kinda sucks IMO  :frown:

Maybe you should try something a bit more advanced. Most of the bots in Starcore V1 were made in 2003 and based on what was known in 2003.

At least you listed what version you were trying against. That is a start. You are welcome to move up to Starcore V3 (made mid-2004).

And if your designs that have had the benefit of documentation of glitches and techniques acquired and documented over the last 6 years stand up to the Starcore V3 bots (and yes any human pilot should be able to out drive the RA2 AI system with practice) then maybe you could try your had at Starcore V4 Alpha (updates as of 2+ years ago to include DSA armor, button vs switch for AI HS and VS spinning, tighter AI coding and many improved designs), including the new much more stable Alien Queen.

Know what you are talking about before saying something sucks. How was your building skills in 2003?

whoa whoa whoa dont think for a second im insulting you or your hardwork starcore, I think the starcore AI packs are indeed a tremendous creation and really improve the challenge in the some what easy game.

I was merely saying that one particular robot in the v1 of starcore (alien queen) didnt live up to the hype I was expecting as I have read past messages that suggest its incredible.

im sorry it came off this way and I hope you wont think ill of me :frown:

I look forward to playing the starcore v2, v3 and v4 packs in the future.

Your comments again seem to indicate you did not know which Alien Queen people were talking about. No one has talked much about the Starcore V1 Alien Queen since probably 2004.

Maybe the Alien Queen they mentioned was in majority this one...

Which is the Starcore V4 Alien Queen.

A bit more deadly then the one you encountered in V1?

Starcore : RA2, VERY SERIOUS BUSINESS !

Heh. I think it's one of the parts about being among the mighty. If a newbie came here and said "Hazcon sucks" i would probably react like that :P
