I'm trying to help him build better robots.  Filling my posts with fluff about how wonderfull he is is all good and nice, but it's not gonna help him build a better robot.

He is doing one primary thing I like, and that's keeping the chassis simple.  Simple chassis are excellent foundations for good robots.

Well discs are rather inefficient, but if you really must keep the disc at least double up the weapons.

Re-make your chassis.  This time when you do the height, make the chassis six tics higher than the lowest height.  This is big enough for both Zteks and black batteries but it still low enough for shiny wheels to reach both the top and bottom.

Well, he did listen to the other advice. but still, I did the same "I'm not rebuilding the chassis" crap and look at how much respect I have.

I can understand why someone might be reluctant to rebuild the chassis, as it puts you back to step one of building, which is a rather uncertain position.

If you don't want to loose your current work, just export your robot and then try re-making the cassis.

When the bot is good I will tell him so. Until then I'll tell him things to make it better. It's not my job to make him feel good about himself, but to make him a better builder.


First off, if you won't rebuild your chassis and say things like "OH NOES IT WON'T FIT"  there's no point in me helping you out with anything else. Rebuilding your chassis is the most fundamental aspect of bot building, and just putting parts in a chassis is the most inefficient way to build. Remember this.

The second thing is the weight limit. LW ~ 249, MW ~ 399, HW ~ 800. What the are you doing with a 412 kg bot? It's easy enough to get down to a MW, just remove ALL the pinks and use ONE black battery. Instead of 4 redbird drive, use 2 HPZ or normal ztek drive. YES THIS WILL REQUIRE A NEW CHASSIS. Heck, this bot could be a LW if you used RAD drive.

Once you free up weight by making the chassis the right size (means close to NO empty space) then you will probably have more weight for weapons. You could double up the irons on the disc using extenders, for twice the damage.


Now for the popup. Remove the wedges on the baseplate extenders and put a DDT motor > 20 cm ROUND! extender > ONE small wedge. do this for both sides. Remove that horrible, inefficient, and ugly weapon system on the center DDT and use round extender with razors on them. Add another nifty to the left side of the robot opposite the one you already have, and remove the pink battery.

He's trying to help you improve the bot and your building skills. Don't take it the wrong way. Those bots would easily beat the Stock AI, but not much more. As for people not saying anything nice, I'm sorry to sound so rude, but that's because there is very little about those bots to be nice about. The choice of weapon and wheel is good on the HS, but it will need many improvements before some people will call it good. Sorry for sounding brusque, but this is the harsh reality of the community.

OK. So I was in the middle of facing Alien Queen with Atom Smasher (just for kicks) in Starcore when my 13-year-old older brother comes walking by. He looks at Alien Queen and says, "That bot sucks. I made a bot way better than that that even beat EMERGENCY!!!1" (n00b comment) So I say, "Well, show me the bot, make a splash for it, and I'll put it on my showcase, and let's see what people like Sage and Nary think of it."
