« on: February 15, 2011, 02:20:40 PM »
well i was asked to post up a showcase, well here is the bot i made joking around that beat all but 3 of the heavyweight class bots in the Starcore AI pack...... im certain there is room for improvement as i can see flaws myself but im still open to constructive criticism:

Looks neat.

Don't use anglers, and build to the weight limit.

i know anglers are bad but i havent figured out another way to go from a 45 angle to a 90 angle without one.... and i for sure havent figured out how to go from 0 angle to 22.5 angle without one lol..... as for weight.. well... im not sure what else to add? i suppose i could go from iron spikes to double stacked razors but i prefer the iron spikes since they dont snap off as easy.... not sure exactly what to add so i didnt lol

i have read that a few times... sadly i discovered many of those "glitches" before i read it via experimentation.... and i didnt see a method for replacing angles other than snapper stacking which is less effective in this case although i have a few bots that do use that method ^^

You can easily use 20CM extenders to substitute for angle connectors. And those extenders in the middle are very exposed. Good for a first bot though. After what you said, I was really suspecting custom components. You also only need 2 blacks and have you downloaded the AI Components? When you remove a black remove both side ones and place a new one in the middle. Then get some wedges on Snapper2s. And you don't need the wheelguards.

Thanks for the introduction!

It's not my place to give general tips (I'm better consulted for tweaking more advanced robots), so perhaps some of the other guys can enlighten you on extender use, wedges, empty space, battery usage, and unnecessary rear armor.

thanks all... its not a first bot though, and i wasnt actually trying hard when i made this one(it took me 20 minutes) it is my first showcased bot though... you would all have laughed at my very first bot xD big box of sawblades lol i know its not effective but one of my favorite battlebots was a giant cube of sawblades and he did aight, physics engine is slightly off in this game i spose since saws do next to nothing for dmg -.- ..... sage do you have a showcase of the top left bot in your sig? it looks fairly interesting but i cant see it too good lol ill post a more space efficient bot of mine in a bit do i just keep posting bots on this showcase or do i have to make a new one for each bot?

Nope keep posting in this showcase. Pretty much everybody has showcases, you just have to look (they get buried). And usually a first showcased bot isn't much better then a first bot, so a first showcased bot is what a lot of people go by.

aight thanks ^^

here ill post another bot since im bored lol
shredder:
18 razor tips(triple stacked)
2 HP z-tek wep motors
4 rev-angle drive motors with mini wheels
2 supervolts
too dang many pinks to care to count :P
stable drive due to carefully balanced centrifugal force(one spins one way the other the other way)
ram plates on top becouse i had a small problem with a hammer bot >_<

i personally hate this bot, i couldnt fill the weight inside the chassis right and i couldnt get the supervolts to stack -.-
and before someone says "too many batteries" i run out of juice in about 2 minutes so i have to kill em fast(good thing he does like 2k points of dmg per hit ^^)

actually, technically you only need 1 black for that bot. Get rid of some batteries (i would reccomend 2 blacks though) and more motors with more weapons.

most matches these days last under 1 minute, so yeah you only need 2 blacks. also ditch the rads and just use 2 hp zteks for drive.
