Title: Droids from Stock
Post by: yoda9726 on December 21, 2010, 07:06:40 AM
In the interest of advice and fulfilling what I assume will be the prerequisite for the next BTTB, here's my first entry into a stock showcase.

My entry for BBTB3.  Darker Shades of Gray.

2 stacked black batts,
DSA
18 Irons total

Beats about 1/2 of starcore AI, and usually holds it's own against the ones it can't beat.

Go easy on me, haven't built in stock for about a year now.

I question the true effectiveness of your plows. While they do serve as stabilizers right now, they might be better in a classic trapping V-setup.

(Well more \_/ than V, but you get it.)

I was just worried about the stabilizing aspect of it.  Poor thing pretty much gets immobilized every time it turns without them.  But, yeah, you've got a point, and i'll give it a shot.

One plate is out of alignment. :O

Try using a static motor setup so you can get better wedges.

I like the design. The thing is, the way you've attached the weapons at the moment, they're going to bounce like heck. The plane of rotation of the weapons on a VS and the snapper they're mounted on should never match (I learned this in BTTB1). Try rotating the snappers 90 degrees, and try having them both on one SnapperII. I reckon you could get better wedges somewhere from that, maybe swap grannies for shinies?

I like how it has a tail/"anti-flipping device".
Also, why are the wheels spread out like that? O,o

So it'll turn faster, I imagine. And to reduce the likelihood of flanking.

That was the only way i could get that plate to attach.  I figured having one like that would be better than not having it at all. Correct me if i'm wrong, please.

And I have now changed the weapon motors to static as per your suggestion, and yup, works much better

Suprisingly, not so much.  The left one is pretty much cemented in place, and the right one barely moves.  I'm shocked by it.  But, as stated earlier, I have moved them off of it anyway.  And as for the grannies to shinies, Bot didn't move with shinies, plus I have a bit of a soft spot for the grannie wheels.

yup.  Also why after trying Nary's suggestion, i'm returning the plows to where they were.  It actually did work better UNTIL I get flanked.  Then it's game over.  The original way, I had a better chance of recovery after getting flanked.
