Okay, so this robot is my personal best, the bot has VERY low ground clearance and has two, single headed picaxe's for a hammer type weapon. Enjoy :)
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/9981screenshot_16.jpg) :thumbup or :thumbdown ?
Named: CrazyCrown!
-
Can we have an inside shot + armour please?
-
Certainly :)

NOTE: weapon was fired to make it easier to see the equipment :)

Paintjob could be more regular, i'm sure you can add armor and more weapons, and a chassis/wedge combo like that is always bad.
Why ? Because hammers require a long swing to deal max damage. Wedge is supposed to put your opponent on top of you. Opponent on top of you = very short swing = pathetic hammer.
Also the second main selling point of a hammer is that it's supposed to attack the top of your opponents. Here it isn't doing that.
Also, use black bateries for your hammer, and remove these pinks. Also you may want to lighten up your weapon extender work, or make it a dual hammer (with 2 bursts). Heavier hammer = slower hammer = less damage, again.
-
Anglers are bad, just use round extenders (the side attachment point should do)
What's the weight?
-
Oh i see now, woops :S
With regards to the paintjob, i wanted it to be fitting within the name, CrazyClown. So i thought, bright colours. But i believe it becomes a matter of opiouins then.
I thought wedge shape because i use this bot more for pushing and shoving rather than striking a hammer down on them.
Some of the MW class bots are quite small and easy to push but others not so much and thats when i use the hammer.
Though i have an idea for a 'House Robot' but going to have to trial and error though.
But thanks for the usefull advice, i will keep that in mind when next building a hammer bot :)
regards CrazyClown :)

Welcome to the forums, CrazyClown! looks like your off to a good start. heres a very helpful website that can help your bot skills:
http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/ra2techs.htm (http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/ra2techs.htm)
start at the Basic Techniques, and reach your way to the Expert Techniques.
theres also a page that helps you know what components are the best:
http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/ra2stats.htm (http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/ra2stats.htm)
for HWs, the best burst motors are DDTs, the best weapons are Iron Spikes, Razor Tips, and Maces, and the best drive motors are HP Z-Teks.
anyways, i like it. :)
-
Thanks for the support and advice everyone:)
Thanks, glad you like it :)
might make a flipper next :)
quick question, i can post more pics of other robots on this thread? or just the one ?
regards CrazyClown
-
You can post as many robots as you want. Otherwise, this forum would be flooded.
-
you can post as many stock bots as you want IN THIS THREAD ONLY... one showcase (stock, dsl and custom) per member!
I'm not the mod.
-
Okay thanks :)
glad to know.
Thanks for the help :)
regards CrazyClown
-
I like the shape :3
Also good to see you've already got the right drive motor/wheel combination sorted :D
-
Well thank you :3
im part way through making a bot which is unbeatable atm, but if i sent it to a tourney online it be beat easy
-
Tournaments are not hosted by online multiplayer, all robots will be computer controlled. If you ever want to enter into one, you can read the rules in the discussion/signups section, and send your robot for the tournament host.
-
Oh i see now, so its AI driven? Pretty neat :)
I shall Deffantly look that up.
Thanks for the heads up :)
sorry if it seems like i dont have common sense, im very new to this forum and havent had the time to explore :S
Thanks a bunch for your help :)

Titanium?no,Don't Select the armor tab affter Creating your chasis, in Order to get Strongst armor That has Weight of Alminium but 2 times harder than alminium and even harder than steel.
-
Sweet!! ill do that from now on :)

:idea2: heres the new robot. :idea2:

i thought maybe i can give the bot a very small turning circle....so i did with a hammer :)
any comments? :gunz: :gunz: :gunz:
-
With that chassis, you will be raped in 10 seconds flat.
-
With that chassis, you will be raped in 10 seconds flat.
i know, this robot was only ment to be an experiment to test to see if a small turning circle is possible. Which, evidently, is possible. next is to see if i can get four to do that. But that chassis is not the best ill agree. but like i said only an experiment. :) hope this clears up why it will probs do bad in battle.
regards Crazyclown.
-
You can make any robot spin on the spot. All you have to do is wire all the drive wheels Clockwise to turn one direction, and Counter-Clockwise to turn the other. Even a sixteen-wheel-drive bot could turn on the spot.
-
Yeah you can make any bot have a 0° turning radius except if you only use car steering, which you should avoid anyway for that exact reason.
-
Oh, i knew that striaght away. Thought i could experiment with the car steering drive to see what is possible/ not possible.
-
I PRESENT SPIKE!!!!
Its got THREE weapons each have a single end pick axe.
two of them are side oparated. (like splinter from Robot wars)
the third is a simple swinging axe.
What you recon~?
-
Can't really see whats going on with that pic. :P
-
... DAM AND BLAST!!!
-
maybe thia one?
-
You could shorten that front of the chassis quite a bit, which will give you more weight for more weapons
-
Ah, that works. From looking, it sort of reminds me of Splinter, from Robot Wars. Could use some frontal protection, like a scoop or ramplate, though. What sort of armour does it use?
-

Aluminium. Thinking about it. A scoop wood do good considering the armour value. but is it wise with a swinging axe? thats the question....time to try :D
-
I can see it now, i like the IRL feel, but you can use the "Add image to post" button so the pics will look better. :)

(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/96482Nipper by CC.jpg)
This is Nipper.
Titanium armour, three axes. Slipperbottem wheels, two Ztek Highspeed motors. and...Well see for your self
This robot CAN run upside down but its difficult to control.
I believe this is the best bot ive created.
Please enjoy :D
Regards CrazyClown! :trollface

no titanium isnt good in stock, just ignore the armor tab completely to get dsa which is stronger than steel but weighs as much as aluminum
-
Kinda like Spike... But just better version

no titanium isnt good in stock, just ignore the armor tab completely to get dsa which is stronger than steel but weighs as much as aluminum
Unless he wants to build in RW8 IRL.

spoiler alert almost noone builds irl stock any more, andn signups for rws8 already closed

Because they don't, he can't. Right?
-
^this
I still build IRL stock from time to time.
-
If he wants to build irl he should probably try out dsl, stock overall isnt very good for irl anyhow.
Also this needs some no-normals weapons like maces or razors.

I think he's saying, while it's fine for IRL, DSL is more expansive in the ways you can build IRL.

^both build by the same member mind you^
That's all opinion based, and it doesn't do a very good job of claiming you can't build cool/fun realistic robots in stock. If he wants to do it, let him.
and I'll be honest, stockasaurus is cooler looking than the boring metal box with spikes on top.

dsl has more, varied, parts and thus more creativity avalible for *GOOD* irl designs as well as more metallic parts so it actually looks real
also OP's new bot is very narrow
All this is proving is that you can build cooler IRL bots in DSL rather than stock. That isn't the same as saying Stock IRL bots don't look cool so you shouldn't build them.
-
NO
-
uhh
I could go on a large spiel about everything you need to do, but I feel like you just need to get more comfy and personal with the game itself first. Keep building whatever comes to mind, and don't care what anyone else thinks. Once you get a feel for everything and such, I'll be back.
-
(plus im sure if i asked any random person they would say that the second ones looks nicer)
You're defending yourself with your personal design preferences, way to go?
All I'm saying is, even if the hivemind general population of this community would want him to build these super intricate cluster of horrizontal spinners that seem so popular, no one can tell him he can't build realistic robots in stock. If he wants to just let him, it's no skin off of your nose.
Foul language removed .... user warned.
-
^Again, this.
-
He can very much build realistic in stock if he wants, and no one should persuade you from doing otherwise.
It's just that DSL is strictly superior to stock.
-
STYLE
-
Well i personally believe its my robot, i think i should be able to build whatever i so desire. i find the IRL bots are more neatly done than non realistic. I guess it comes down to personal preference at that stage. i still use Stock not dsl. Why? because im comfy with stock NOT dsl. i will try though. :baffled:

Meet CLAMP
Two Z-tecs HP
3 big ol' Batterys (so i dont lost power)
4 snappers with ice pick tips.
Why 4? Because it just means I can get the robot too cause more even damage.
ANYWAY!!!!! (I know that arguments persued moments after posting a robot. Excuse those >.<)
-
Come to think about it....That ram plate isn't the best idea i had...
-
use only 2 DDt's and add more weapons on the arm. there is absolutely no need for 4 arms on MW level.
use also 1 black battery and 1 red, it's enough for that.
Also this is hovering between MW and HW, i'm quite sure it is 500kg or something... just make it either a MW or a HW.

Any who Check this out:

Remember Series 2 of RWars? There was a bot called ground hog. It had a VERY high ground clearance and i thought of replicating it in RA2 stock. anywho its not perfect but its a start!
Any help welcome!
-
Why are you using servos for the legs when you could easily use baseplate anchors? Also, if your legs are straight like that you could use HP Ztek's with Shiny hubs for better drive should you want it.
But if you're building a replica ignore that bit...

Ground hog, correct me if im wrong, had servos to control the wheels to point in a direction. Though i dont think you see it happen.
-
groundhog only used 2 servo motors 1 for the back legs and 1 for the front ones

ah unfortuantly the servos in stock only have one ancherpoint i could use extenders but then i may hit the max limit....
-
with a bit extender work you could make it using just 2 serveos. would make it pretty weak though. but who needs this anyway

Meet: Boxxything
Featuring 4 HPzteks, two big batterys, 2 DDts and a sporting box.
No SCHrimeck yet although i do want to adjust the bot to have one.
Anyway thoughts?
-
i like it the best of all of the robots you've posted so far. try experimenting with different weapon for your hammer heads. keep in mind that rotated correctly your extenders have two attachment points at the end, so you could have two spikes without even adding a splitter on the end. a good idea ive found fore effective hammers is not only having a solid, fast drive (something you've already found out) but having a well protected and weaponized front end as well, to double as a rammer if god forbid you lose your hammer. a small wedge well placed will also do wonders for the effectiveness of your robot
best of luck buddy! keep em coming!
-
it needs more frontal armor, else you're gonna get killed by anything with any offense at all
