I got a little tired of being able to beat these robots so easily by just flipping them over, so I rebuilt them for inverted running.

If anyone has any interesting rebuilds of the original game robots, post them here. I'll be adding more soon .........
-
Downloading starcore AI 3.0 would be so much easier and the bots would be so much better.
-
I already have Starcore's v3.0, and have been playing it - I just felt like re-doing the original robots for fun.
-
Catfish would suck right side up, upside down, or sideways. It would suck even if it had cattle prods instead of iron spikes. There's no improving Catfish. Nice rebuilds by the way.
-
Well, yeah, gotta agree with you on Catfish - it IS a weak design ....I think I'm going to go in and redesign the entire thing, maybe make it lower and run Z-Teks on it or something.
Here's BOT-204 - don't know why it didn't show in the last post...

It's fun messing with the stock AI. I once took BOT-204's chassis and rebuilt it into a big, gnarly 800 kg heavyweight vertical spinner, just to show how unnecessarily huge the stock AI's chassises are. You can make a HW from a LW
The stock AI are gonna have their revenge in DSL 2.0 though...
-
LOL - a HW VS from BOT-204?? Man, I gotta see that ... do you have any pictures? You're right, the stock AI have SO much wasted space in there that could be used for more stuff.
Here's a full rebuild on Catfish (again), this time with the lower chassis to make him more easily invertible:

And, talking about wasted space, I decided to fill up some of the space on Backyard Ripper :

-
Oh yeah, that was a question of mine from the old AU days. How do you angle the HP Z-Tec to do what it does in Backyard Ripper?
-
Very easy - all you do is mount the Z-Tek on its end on top of a baseplate anchor. The ones inside Backyard Ripper are angled at 45 degrees, and you just have to move the anchors back and forth a little until you have just the shaft of the Z-tek poking out of the front. BR uses a standard Z-Tek - mine are HP's, so the anchor needed to be set back a little further.

I Wanna try this but How because i dont think you can edit them

look before you post please it's really annoying
My name is badnik and you should ignore everything i say because despite being here for years i still don't know my place in this community and instead backseat moderate every thread I enter.

Hi my name is badnik and I just ignored everything the moderator just said.
I'll say it again so Nary doesn't have to.
THIS. BUMP. WAS. HARMLESS. YOU. ARE. NOT. A. MODERATOR. BE. QUIET. AND. LET. STAFF. DO. THEIR. JOB.
The reason WE want US to handle these things is so WE can handle them in a semi-professional manner instead of being a prissy little twit and making somebody mad, which is what starts MASSIVE FLAME WARS THAT NONE OF US WANT TO DEAL WITH. Know your place.
-
So I can't post my opinion anymore huh?
It has seriously gotten out of hand. At least limit Dogmasher like Sparkey was so this happens less than 5 times a day.
Also, you say you can handle these things in a semi-professional way then vandalize my post with giant red text. I'm sure the warning would have spoken for itself.
I know I'm going to get muted and become public enemy #1 after this post, so I bid you all adieu. I'll be over with NFX on the ARC forum where we can actually do things reasonably.

People may hate me over this but I have to agree with Badnik.
-
So do I. Being a moderator does not give you the right to act like a massive tool.
-
And this is EXACTLY why The Ounce left. I've asked him to come back but he refused because of the moderator-abuse.
-
All I'm gonna say is for everyone to make sure they check dates on things before they post, and check if they really want to bring something up from so far back, and also that people shouldn't start some argument here, over just a bump.
Badnik, Jonzu, Alex etc, may I suggest writing an open letter to discuss how you feel rather than carrying on spamming this thread and making it a bigger thing than it needs to be.
-
Alright, nobody's really got a correct argument here.
It's not mod-abuse or moderators acting like tools, you're all looking silly by turning on them.
Yes, it's a little misguided, but it's not abuse. Jesus wept, the exaggeration in that term is incredible.
In terms of the bumping, I think the general consensus is that it's not needed.
Let's flip it the other way round.
Say that LDog posted a question topic in general discussion asking how to edit AI bots, nobody would have turned to him and said 'should have posted in an existing thread from 2006'.
Never before have I seen a forum where digging up 7 year old topics was acceptable.
Is it a bandwidth issue? If there's a legitimate reason, then say so, instead of just screaming 'YOU'RE WRONG WARN THEM'.
-
This and Jet-speed's showcase were on the last page when arranging topics by replies, these bumps seem like they were done on purpose to cause issues. Why not post in Re-stocked topic? it's last post was last year so at least it's not that old...
-
So I can't post my opinion anymore huh?
It has been stated countless times over the last 3 years to not post what you posted, so I would think you would have known by now not to post that. Obviously LDogmasher doesn't care if he bumps or not so having like 5 people post "STOP BUMPING PLS LDOGMASER" doesn't makes a difference and makes their more sh** posts to be cleaned up.
-

We would complain, but who are the superiors more likely to side with? A wiki owner, his butt-buddy (me) and a guy with less reputation than compared to days he has spent on the website, or someone who's been in power and well known for several years? To anyone else on this forum, I'm just a good for nothing DSL Mafia crap builder who insults the veterans and most likely an alt of GF93 or Sparkey. My opinions would not hold against the might of Naryar, Kill and other well known members.
Also, Mazakari, if a post has been up on the forum for that long, chances are it was solved a long time ago. Even if you want to know the current progress on a mod, most of the time you would PM the guy responsible, not necrobump a bajillion times. It's been that way on all the other forums I've been on in the past 5 years.
Now, before I get muted, downrepped and probably have this post vandalized with massive red text and a spoiler, I'd like to conclude it's not a problem with the moderators that we have. These people have the power to do good things for this website, but they can be loose cannons some times, if you know what I mean. Kill may not have meant to post with those intentions, but it certainly does not improve their image.
-

Alriiiiiiiiiiiiight then.
-
Kill explained it very well, with clarity, emphasis and effectiveness. But still people are still circlejerking and feeling offended, I'm going to hit the point again.
Hint : Yes, most of LDogMasher's posts are not very useful. Not a reason to gang up on him every time he does.
Besides, I personally think there's no harm done in bumping. all of these posts Ldogmasher did were off-topic, but you guys are adding to the off-topic and flamebait.
There seems to be some belief here, particularly above newbies, that bumping is a great evil and shall not be done. It must be killed off because it is a weak and false belief.
I clearly said to stop the bump whacking, then one damn post afterwards Badnik completely ignores moderator warning and does it anyway. The warn is perfectly justified, it is not power abuse, moderators being tools or loose cannons.
If Ldogmasher's posting becomes out of control then we will act. No, he is not even as annoying as sparkey and lra2 were in their first months because he's completely harmless.
If you want us to act, then call us and we will judge the action necessary. Stop trying to take the law into your own hands, because : 1-bumping is NOT an offense, 2-we know the law much better than you do, 3-we know how to deal with these situations.
I know I'm going to get muted and become public enemy #1 after this post

Stop trying to ****ing pose as martyrs right here, you all disgust me by doing so because you all ain't.

If there are any problems with the staff, I am the one that people should be talking to. As such, you are better off PMing me if you believe a member of the staff has overstepped their bounds (I try to address all concerns as fairly as possible). It wouldn't be the first time that someone within the staff has lost privileges for abusing their powers. That said, I don't believe Kill overreacted in this situation.
