40757's Showcase II
« on: February 20, 2009, 10:36:51 PM »
Feb 27, 2009 - I made a new bot last night! =D My first attempt at a good HS.

Win Bot 3000: My first attempt at a good HS. It uses four HP Z-Teks in the center using rotator bars and 2 Iron Spikes at the end of each bar. 2 Blades go Clockwise and 2 others go Counter Clockwise so my bot doesn't spin out and more controllable. I like it except for the sluggishness of the bot. It's veeeeery slow. Other than that It's really good. It can right itself back over by popping out those Snappers if flipped and does good damage =D

Feb 20, 2009 - Well uh... It's been a while since playing this game. Thought I'd try it again so here are some of my designs from today. Punch Bag Bob is a Heavyweight Dual Vertical Spinner with a wall of weapons under the blades. Twilight Hour is a Lightweight bot with two horizontal spinners which cover the whole bot.

Punch Bag Bob: I'm pretty content with this bot but if you have any suggestions I'd be more than happy to try it out. It beat my previous best bot (Sit and spinner) in about 30 seconds 5 times in a row :gunz:

Twilight Hour: Decent Lightweight but I'm having trouble getting a black battery, but if not then I'd rather have two High powered Z-Teks (It has two Reversable Angle Motors now T_T).

reversible angles are fine for a LW. For the HW, looks ok. cool use some wedges.

don't use pink batteries unless on a AW or BW. they suck.
You got my vote for RA2 Wizard. Always and forever.

*Exception: LW rammers.  I used 2 pinks on Brown Wreckluse 2 and it works fine.  Anything with more than 2 motors though, needs at least a Nifty.

Punch Bag Bob looks great.  But it would be even greater with wedges, like Sage said.  Maybe get rid of the small battery packs and add a Snapper.  Strangely, I haven't seen many VS/rammer hybrids.  Good work with that design.

I like Punch Bag Bob, but you'd be better with 2 blacks (or 1 black and 1 nifty).

Also you can make your extender setup lighter (avoid anglers, and play with round extenders).

Nothing Else Fits in PBB so i had to settle for the 2 pinks. I've seen people stacking black batteries but all i know how to stack are iron spikes, and axe heads. I'll try it out later then :D

Try to remove so many angle connectors and use the side connections of extenders, then remove the pink and you might have the weight to double up the spikes.

After trying to make the bot lighter, The spikes wont connect to the rotator bar. I'm assuming its just a glitch so is there any way to fix it?

punch bag bob reminds me of a MW I made. You have extra weight, so
does your bot always have popups getting under it??? if so get a wedge.
maybe instead of using tribars, make a disk on a lower extender. if you change that, save your old one in case it sucks

That might be the rule of seven, or there is a wheel moving during the bot lab, if there is somthing moving just switch the tab your, click appearence and then go back

For twilight hour, I don't know how great at stacking you are, but you could put a nifty in there and stack the control board and that extender to the weapon motor inside the nifty, and then in the rest of the chasis put 2 or 1 axel mounts for the 2 reversible angle motors

No i already know that trick, its just that like it wont even show what it would look like to see if i want to connect it on that part.

EDIT: It's letting me connect the spikes to anywhere else on the bot but the rotator bars. I tried to connect an extender to the bar also and that wont let me attach to it either.

Maybe the 7 part rule thingy. Someone more RA2 experienced should explain it to you.

Yeah I already have it on. I had to delete the whole arm i already had setup and build a complete new one. Its about 20 kg lighter with that but i still cant fit the black batteries inside the chassis so I'm going to just make the 2 wedges people keep suggesting. And I'm also trying to learn how to stack batteries and Z-Teks.

Hmm.

1) Anchor
2) Extender
3) HPZ
4) Tribar
5) Extender (Iron added here)
6) Extender
7) Iron

Try rotating the one you first attached, that works.

And post some pics so we can see what you have. You could put the spikes so that the side attachment is facing the way that the tribar is spinning, and attach the spike to that.

ok, I added wedges, removed the 2 pink batteries, and used less angle connectors. It's at about 748 kgs. What I was thinking of doing was Stacking two Black Batteries but I have no idea how to so I would greatly appreciate it if somone gave me a link on how to stack them or just tell me.

you just have too put another black batt over the other don't rotate. you do this by zooming in on the screen, and slightly moving your mouse to find a glitchy spot it can fit in. there is another way, you can cross them like an X, but that may take to much room.

You can also stack things inside nifties and black volts, but i think you should learn to stack black bats first

does this work the same for Z-Teks? I've wanted to make a good Horizontal Spinner for a while :D
