Title: Warning Trojan Detected on GTM
Post by: Jack Daniels on January 10, 2010, 03:27:14 PM: Somebody is using an image that has possible trojan capabilities. I think... I get this warning every now and then on the forums today:

Whoever is posting that image... please stop. I think it might cause some of us trouble.

I deleted it and all is safe now.

It makes me wonder though. Did he turn the image into a trojan with the intent of harming the thread creator, or did he post the image not knowing it was a trojan that could harm other computers as well?

Bumpity-bump.
Some JPEG parsers can have holes which can be exploited by maliciously crafted images. This is true fro every file format out there. and has for exampel been used in a crap ton of so called tiff exploits, where a specially crafted image could execute code on systems that used the libtiff library (the tiff exploit was used twice on the PSP, it was also used on jailbreakme.com for the iPhone).
