Yesterday my computer was ATTACKED by a virus.
I called up some friends of mine, and the virus came through a portal from this webites. Got a bunch of different types of KeyLoggers, Artemis', Trojans, and various other viruses that swamped my system.
Not a complaint, just trying to inform everybody, as well as the administrators, because it is obvious that we have had trouble with spambots as of late as well.
All the viruses, and their source, were directed from GTM.
-
That's odd. I'm running a full scan now just in case. If I find anything like what you said, I'll post what I find.
-
Same here
-
When i tried to shut down my computer, there was a program called "Ribbons" that was running. After i shut my comp down, i restarted and ran a full scan. nothing found.
-
Viruses don't attack.....you have to open/run them. Never open/run anything you don't know about even if it is sent by what looks like somebody you know....like the post office, UPS and government, there are several going around right now..

I've never seen any redirections or other out-of-character behavior from the gametechmods' website or this forum... In order for you to catch a virus from visiting the forums, javascript or other forms of activescript would need to be enabled in order for them to inject a malicious script that would automatically execute a virus or trojan... My guess is that you already had some kind of virus/trojan that injected the malicious code into your browser, this is a very common behavior. Lot's of trojans/viruses will inject malicious code into the website you are visiting using javascript or invisible iframes, I would suggest upgrading to firefox and using the noscript plugin if you have not done so...

The website at gametechmods.com contains elements from the site viorfjoj-2.com, which appears to host malware – software that can hurt your computer or otherwise operate without your consent.
-
well that explains why my laptop just blocked a virus that supposedly came from here
-
Yeah I got that message just now saying that this website contains malware and may damage my computer.
-
me toooo
im gonna scan my computer now
-
I haven't had a message as such yet, but should we do anything about this?
-
just regularly update your virus protection and do a scan once a day.. you can set them to be auto on most computers
-
I actually meant is there anything that can be done about stopping the virus from coming through GTM -if that makes sence- but if not then... yeah.
Thanks for the tip anyway JB.
-
OMG I just got attacked by *gulp* GTM!
Good ol norton stopped it.
-
well I can't access the front page anymore,I get a broken link now
-
I got it too, when i logged on today, i got a message saying that GTM is unsafe.
-
great
GTM is a broken link
RA2WIKI is getting messed up by a trojan
-
We are under attack!
-
No, GTM is attacked by the ppl who hacked Imageshack.
EDIT: WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????
-
WTF? Is this site really popular or is ACAMS and goosy pulling pranks?
-
haha i has a mac!
-
Has anyone else noticed the member, "Stephanie"?
They have been on for hours, but have supposedly been PMing the whole time.
-
I think she's advertising her website or something
-
Ye. Got a PM asking about how I'm doing. Reminds me of the gold sellers in WoW :/
It also included a quote and a link.
-
I figured it was a spammer... or whoever released the virus
-
You know, I was going to dismiss this thread as paranoia, but whenever I try to get on the site I get a popup from Norton saying a virus attack was blocked. Furthermore, it freaks out entirely and wont let the page load when I try and look at anything loaded from RA2Tube. Just thought I'd mention this.
-
I hope you are all using Firefox, theres a virus going around on Internet explorer.
-
I use Chrome
-
Something serious is going on... ACAMS?
I tried visiting here earlier in the day and I got a broken link, along with Norton reporting a blocked intrusion attempt.
Now the main page appears to be just gone. Deleted. It's just the default directory that shows up when there is no index.
Edit: From the Admin control panel:
There is a newer version of vBulletin available to download
Latest version available: 3.8.3. You are currently running vBulletin version 3.6.8.
Click here to download vBulletin 3.8.3 from the Members' Area (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1746892)
Not sure if it would do any good now, but for future reference...
-
The main page has been fixed. Something must be going on, the wiki link was broken yesterday.
-

Well the server got hacked, and those without protection may want to run this... http://www.combofix.org ....... Or (http://www.combofix.org / ....... Or) get some other program to remove spyware and such. (you have a ton from other places anyway)
People who do that should be put in prison, tied down naked to a bench with a very detailed picture of a naked woman tatooed on their back!
All is fixed now!
I will need to pay for the Vbulletin update and see if I can install it, but will probably crash the forums forever.....(maybe goose will help me)
I will also update the WIKI and I have downloaded some programs to stop spammers on both after the updates.
This time they hacked the server so I changed the password, and that is about all I can do.
-
Want any donation money via Paypal to diffuse the cost? how much is the update?
-
Odd. I never got a virus warning and im running the latest avg anti virus....
-
ACAMS your link is broken...

YAY. But Kaspersky's the one that's blocking harmful sites, though. It never blocked this one.

Oh..... Crap.

Am I the only one here using Firefox? I am the only one in my family that swears by it, after the family comp was hacked and nearly mangled by a virus.
-

Mozilla FTW :-D Im the only one im my family that swears by it too
-
Somebody: Nope, you are not. Firefox all the way!
-
Chrome all the way, you guys should have heeded my warning months ago.
But no, no one listens to InfiniteInertia on the loooney express
-
Hey i use chrome to. For some reason my internet explorer and firefox are so slow and chrome isn't plus i like the spell check. Anyways when i got on GTM yesterday it gave me some alert message about the virus but nothing happened to my computer. I am going to assume that it has been fixed because i did not get the message today.
-
firefox ,opera and chrome. i only use ie whe the others dont work for some java based games.
-
I'd use Chrome everywhere, but I'm waiting for it to be ported properly (and be stable) on Linux and OS X. Chromium on Windows is pretty awesome. Otherwise I use Firefox. 3.5 was kinda slowish on windows, but they fixed it in 3.5.1 (all fonts were cached at the start of the application).
All you people complaining about a virus being "on" GTM have probably just a really messed up Windows install with spyware, adware and worms all over the place.
(Also, FYI worm != virus. A virus infects files, adds it's header in binaries, and shiet. Much more advanced. A worm just keeps running on your PC, copies itself and maybe makes your PC join a botnet. It can be as simple as a dozen of VBScript lines created by a 10-year old on crack)

where can i get 3.5, because mine just updated to 3.1.2...

Maybe http://www.getfirefox.com/ ..?
-
Chrome is actually *slightly* slower than Firefox on my machine, but is still a lot easier to use. Plus, it blocks all popups instead of just the first one like Firefox.
