Trov: It's Time To Stop

We know how busy you've been over the past few months, but I'm not entirely sure if GTM is going to be well off with an admin that's almost as inactive as ACAMS was around the time that he called it quits. It's gotten to the point where you're not even around enough to host BOTM, which if I had to guess, probably takes, what, about 15-30 minutes at the most? Meganerdbomb's been hosting it for the past 3 or 4 months now. This concerns me. You even said it yourself:

While you have every right to focus on your "work distribution" (assuming this just means real-life responsibilities), GTM is at a turning point right now. We've got 3 big league tournaments with big league amounts of entrants going on right now, with one even having forum titles (aka something that requires admin intervention) as a prize for winning. It would be awkward for someone to win, only to not get thier prize that they were promised until months later.

There's also /r/battlebot's redditbots going on right now, which is bringing in extra members. The moderators are doing a good job of keeping people in line, but who will be there if one of them turns out to be a HurricaneAndrew/Noodle/Sparkey-like situation and floods the forum with pictures of jews and porn and Russian /mu/ copypastas? Certainly not one of the other several admins we have. Mods can only mute people and hope they go away, and not smack people with the ban hammer, and the only semi-active admins on GTM are you, and ACAMS (who just sh**posts in politics).

What I would recommend, is upgrading one of your existing moderators to admins. Namely either Craaig or Kill343gs. While they both have thier pros and cons (craig being more consistently active, but doesn't have as much moderation experience, kill being basically the opposite), I feel that either one of them would be the best for the job. Another boon to having these two in particular be admin, is the fact that the Discord chat offers a direct line of real-time contact to them, as opposed to waiting for them to log on to GTM and respond to a PM you send them. The link to the discord chat has been sitting on the forum for about 2 months, is available to anyone to join, and has amassed roughly 50 members.

edit: Just an FYI, I'm not telling you to step down ACAMS style Trov, just saying that it would be a good idea to upgrade one of the more active mods to admin so that some of the ridiculous work load is at least partially offset to someone else.

we appreciate what you do. i know what its like to be busy and not dedicate time to other things, especially if your interest wanes over time. I know I wouldn't want to be admin. it would take all the fun out of it for me, and theres people that are the same way.
passion for the site is the main thing. AS has it from what I've seen. yugi does a good job with everything i've seen him do.

Newbie to the site but craaig is literally one of the most helpful people on this site. when i didn't know how to enter he was quick to send me the link to instructions. Yugi has been great too

While I think it's a bit harsh to ask Trov to stop, I do think that giving As and Yugi mod would be good, they've both been very friendly, helpful and polite(not something I can say about every member) all the time.

Title to the thread is pretty misleading tbh, since what AS is saying is to make someone else a forum admin who's active that can do the simple stuff of reorganizing sections, adding botm to the main page, and etc which I agree would bw good. Trov himself would still stay as the main admin top dog then too so I don't think there is that much of a risk of trying it out as he could always revert it back to before.

More mods are not what we need, it's more admins. In the past there was at least usually at least 2 active admins to keep things going.

I have to agree with what's being said here. To ensure the site's longevity, we need a new admin.

With the recent revival of Battlebots and Robot Wars, right now, we need an admin that is active to make the forum as user-friendly as possible to ensure that guests will know that they will feel welcomed when entering the forum for the first time. Constant updates from admins shows that the site is still very much active rather than a bunch of people trying to say that the site's development is still active when in all honesty, it isn't really. Yes, that's also down to the members to welcome them (and I encourage all that are reading to do so) but the layout of the site needs an update to address concerns that people have had for a while. (I.E, Bot Exchange should be on the top bar rather than the homepage)


As for a recommendation, I'm not going to say anyone in particular but if it comes to it, Trov, I will be with you on whoever you go with.

I believe we have enough global moderators, however, I'm flattered that my name has been mentioned. I definitely think that it would extremely healthy for the forum if either Craaig or Kill were to be promoted to an admin position.

huh, i thought mods could already change user titles and ban people. if trov likes having sole possession of admin he could always just grant additional powers (namely being able to ban, update the botm winner, see IPs, change titles) to current mods, possibly different ones to specific people

Wasn't directly addressing As, more people in general(even through one can question how serious they are when they say that).
As for new admins, both Craaig and Kill do have their pros and cons, and upgrading a advanced user would maybe be a step too much? But hey, whatever this community thinks is right and which members actually want to do it/have time for it.

Ye now I think about it I have no idea how Geice isn't an AU. For what it's worth, I think the best thing to do here is promote Yugi and AS to Moderators, and increase mod power so we don't have to rely on Admins unless something on the backend has gone awry.

I did, just dropping by once in a while, doubt I completely stop playing RA2 anytime soon. Probably should write a more accurate post as some things have changed now.
Others have mentioned how there are already enough moderators, but yeah if it 's actually possible to give mods some of the admin tools(or alternatively make something new between mod and admin) and make sure that there's still an admin online once in a while(so stuff won't be inaccessable) would work very well.
