Title: Tournament Bailing
Post by: Resetti's Replicas on April 04, 2011, 10:50:12 AM
This is the second time in a short period that someone's remorselessly bailed on a replica torunament.  I think it's time to re-evaluate the punishment for tournament bailing.  I mean, if someone's lost interest in hosting a tournament, how is it a punishment to prevent them from doing so?  I may be acting reactionary, but I think the punishment for flushing down dozens of users' hard work should be more severe.

I propose that bailers, during their ban period, should not only be banned from hosting tournaments, but from entering as well.  A little bit of the "treat others as you wish to be treated."

TLT me all you like, but I couldn't live with myself if I just turned my back on my own tournament.

We should organise a rehosting of any large tournaments that were bailed and have enough interest in being finished. I would be willing to help.

thought the same today. First it was Zog and now Stagfish. I was looking forward to both of them since there are just a few tourneys I entered lately and those have been two of them.

He had a very explicit deadline and he failed to post even one video before it, I call that a bail.  Couldn't even be bothered to do an all-Cruella melee.

but I couldn't live with myself if I just turned my back on my own tournament.

This is the reason why I didn't quit on Hell's Arena.

Nope... but you encouraged others to.  :gawe:

Haha. Just kidding. I couldn't resist.  You do get some semi-props for not quitting in comparison to walking away. I will give you that. (+rep)

Why don't we all just make fun of them or something?  People learn best with feedback and encouragement after all.

A secondary idea I had was that during the ban period, the person's avatar becomes a Scarlet "B" for "Bailer."  But I thought maybe that was too silly.

I dont know if it could work..

People already bitch about how strict the current lax rules are.. what if we enforced more..

If you want to go ahead and tighten up the rules that's completely fine by me and understandable but I will throw in the digital towel on running the tournaments section and give it to someone ruthless like Nary :P

That's the definition of a bailer. The only other reason you'd bail is because you get knocked out and can't be arsed to carry on.  ;)

No he didn't officially pack up and leave and still had ambitions at the time to continue.. (So didnt technically bail)

Just fell short of the time limits..
