No.

Cases in point, Scrap and Scrap. I don't want to split theirs in half.
ftfy hueue

and im really not seeing how a split would fix stuff like what happened back there, i mean that only happened because he got his bones rattled over nothing and we pinched back, if ppl dont flip thier sh** over advice/actually take it everything will be ok

If a split occurs won't the Moderators have to go through every showcase to separate IRL from Standard DSL Building?
In my mind it is a bad idea.

PS: What about the people with IRL & Standard in their showcase?

why seperate when people now follow the motto of Robot Arena 2: Design and Destroy.

there are people who build destructive bots and there are people who like to design bots for a good look.

and it's not gonna stop people from being arrogant and not willing to take any advice that's always gonna happen regardless of what you do

I don't support this idea.

solution- stop building irl

There's always going to be an interest in IRL. Actually, I think it was an IRL tournament that got me into RA2 in the first place...

Like Naryar said, you can skip the showcases that end up with flame wars, bad advice, and bad robots (whether they're IRL or not) in them.

Anyway, bottom line is that there's no need to separate IRL from DSL, but doing the opposite and downright banning IRL will definately not solve any problems either.

solution- stop building irl

EDIT- mainly to prevent newfags from joining then making sh**ty bots and hiding behind LOL IRL as an excuse, some ppl can actually build cool looking bots while that merrick guy just built sh** that was ''realistic'' and hid behind that for 8 pages

There shouldn't be too much of a problem as long as showcases exclusively for "IRL" bots are marked as being just that in the title.

In the case of that Merrick guy, he's just a douche.

Nope. We're not splitting showcases.

Besides, you can simply skip the crap showcases.

There will always be fights over things on this forum, that is the nature of the beast.

It's not like it's necessarily a bad thing...

I don't think we should split them. They're both using the DSL mod, but they've just got different building styles. Nobody was suggeating this when Thyrus was building IRL three or so years ago, against guys like Naryar, Pwnator, who were at the peak of competitive DSL building. Granted it's more accepted now as a building style, going so far as to have its own tournaments, but I don't think we can really distinct between DSL and IRL, especially when there are so many designs which blur the lines of either style.
