Rules of Banning
« on: June 18, 2010, 11:57:54 PM »
Are there any set ground rules for getting banned? Like Forum ground rules and whatnot?

IMO There should be some rules about what is allowed and what is not. There are too many people to leave it to interpretation. With rules to follow,  and consequences when broken, this forum may become better behaved...

Yes, there is a warning system in place. I think it is somehow buried into the "what this forum needs" thread.

Are people being banned without proper warning?

Yes, there are.....people get banned for starting topics like this!

OK, maybe not, but who do you know that has been banned from GTM? (Besides RA2, and he was a total moron....Avalanche DOES act better!)

Never have been and never will!

Yes, there is a warning system in place. I think it is somehow buried into the "what this forum needs" thread.

The warning system DOES work, but there must be SOLID reason to issue a warning....Those reasons are as follows:

Foul Language or pictures posted in the main forum.  (and a PM warning should do the trick)

Continuous needling, or harassment of members in the main forum, especially the Showcase. (and a PM warning should do the trick)

There are other reasons, but those are the most important.

Anything but illegal content is allowed in Playground, and Chatterbox is moderated and restricted to proper behaviour, flame wars is in my opinion a proper behaviour and like sh**, it WILL happen, so a PM WARNING is sufficient the first few times.

I still think that the Playground SHOULD be moderated. Its a place where people can still enjoy themselves, but many threads are ruined by flame wars when people were having fun.

Is there a method where people can moderate their own threads? Maybe that would work in the plaground...

you dont enjoy your self in the other sections ?

playground is meant for messing about... play the games if you want or whatever (meant to reduce spam everywhere else on here as its a 'ventable' area)

Of course I enjoy myself! Its just that It is not very enjoyable to finish reading the showcase posts, and thinking "Hmmm, should I read the Playground posts. That place is really fun, until S32 and frezal get there and start a flame war". And then I get no fun :P

Hum. Nearly funny.

It probably still IS going to degenerate through most the playground... now you've made it 100% lulzier ACAMS. Thank you.

Wow, surprised ACAMS actually tried my idea... unless I misread it.

If I did not misread it, there should be rules. Like if you abuse it (changing peoples posts to start a flame war), you lose priveleges forever and the thread is deleted.

So let me get this straight.  3 warnings = ban?

Does this happen automatically?  (Can't find where the settings are in the admin panel).

And is this a temp ban or a permaban?  Or perhaps that is up to the banner, based on the seriousness of the offense (I would lean toward that).
