RA2 video showcases.

hey guys i still have RA2 on my pc i'm thinking about playing a little bit here and there and maybe even sharing some vids/tournaments like old times but i would like to have a section or a new thread just for vids. sounds greedy? well think about it like this what if i come here and want to see if someone like MikeNCR has new videos of his awesome DSL bots in his own privately held tournament? i would have to browse through his massive showcase.

so what I'm asking is can we have a new section for RA2 Video showcases where people can put videos of their robots and own tourneys?

I have multiple reasoning's and problems against it :P

1) on site private tournaments I want to stop.. people are just doing them to get around the system now.. the system has been made to avoid crap after crap being made (or as I like to call it.. The TX Effect) but has been made as lax as possible

2) a longer length to the forum and more places to moderate.. the main reason I am bitter about requests for new sections you ask? I was turned down for a Backlash showcase due to the forum being to long... though if we ditch the playground or one of those other rubbish sections maybe?

3) we have a media section that anyone can upload videos too and can be accessed via the media tab at the top of the forum

You know (prepares to get head bitten off by some people) there's only a handfull of decent and active threads in playground, surely those threads could be moved over to chatterbox and the old playground shut down as it seems to just be the trash bin now...

Well I would like to think that backlash will get it's own showcase when it's properly released as people seem to already be posting a few first blood bots in their custom showcases.
TBH though, I don't want to play backlash untill the full version is released,.

probally advisable :P First Blood was only to show the separate tabs idea... thats why I was a pain in the butt about it.. because people shot down the idea but refused to try it

Backlash seems to be JUST the kind of mod i'd love to play (especially since i'm trying to focus my bot building on spinners), and I don't want to ruin the anticipation really by playing a demo version first, that's the only reason why I haven't played it yet.

Anyway, to link back to the topic, I agree that a generall video showcase would probably end up being quite messy and hard to manage.

Because it was a silly idea, and was coming AGAINST your own ideals of original building.

I went to a lot of trouble to set up the Media Gallery, and the Downloads section and you don't even use it!
